Torment of Velious Info & Guides: Overview | Progression & Task List | Raiding | Visible Armor
Prerequisite Quest(s): Citizens Revolting > Put Soldiers to Rest > Heroes Must Die (Again) > Find the Survivors > Wolf Bites Giant Iceweaver Beldikan is located at /way 393, -62, -210 at the far north end of the zone. He is on the find tool CTRL F. You say, 'Hail, Iceweaver Beldikan' Iceweaver Beldikan says, 'Hello. I hear that King Tormax trusts you, and then so shall I. I have been tasked with trying to find a way to stop this restless ice stuff. I have a few theories, but nothing solid. I really want to know what makes it move. It's not hard to find samples of the stuff, but I don't see anything special about it, other than it moving all over the place. It seems to prefer to move upward, I wonder if that is important. There is magic in it, but there is magic in all ice on Velious. It's full of [velium] after all. Maybe we just need to find a few more clues about its behavior in order to find its source.' You say, 'velium' Iceweaver Beldikan says, 'Sure, velium is inherently magical. That's why it's so valuable. That's why we make weapons out of it. Is there anything you have noticed about it that I don't know?' Say sleeper to trigger the mission. You say, 'sleeper' Iceweaver Beldikan says, 'So the rings are closer together around the Sleeper's Tomb? They get larger as you move away? That must mean something. It must be dragons doing this! That certainly makes sense, those scaly, irrational lizards are only interested in destruction. It must be them. But that doesn't tell me how to stop it. Maybe you should explore inside. As far as I know, it's been mostly empty for a while now. But who knows? You might find a clue.' You have been assigned the task 'The Ice Moves'. Iceweaver Beldikan wants to find a way to stop the restless ice. To do that, he needs your help completing tasks outside Kael. Task Window Text: Since you mentioned the ice seemed to form in rings and that it might be centered at the Sleeper's Tomb, he wants you to venture into the tomb and see if you can find the source. At the very least, you can collect some restless ice samples from inside. One of the group members must go near the sealed Sleeper's Tomb entrance in Eastern Wastes. Click on the spinning globe for this step to update. Task Window Text: Well, you can grab some restless ice around the tomb. Maybe that will prove useful. That player must move around until each group member gets a Chunk of Restless Ice on their cursor. There's an pillar of ice to the north of the circle the dragon corpse is on at /way -1389, -203, -19. Walking by it will get you the step update with the item on your cursor. Return this to Beldikan Task Window Text: ?Give Chunk of Restless Ice to Beldikan. Only 1 person in the group needs to turn theirs in for the whole group to get their update for this step. Iceweaver Beldikan says, 'Wow, this is light for its size. Maybe that's because of whatever is making it try to move upward. Or maybe...' The massive sorcerer casts a specialized identification spell, then licks the ice sample you gave him. 'It might be the dragon magic that makes this so light, but it is also the high concentration of velium. I need you to go out and confirm a theory. Go and get me a sample of the ice or snow that is not moving around, someplace near where you found this sample.' Task Window Text: Beldikan has a theory and needs some snow from near the entrance to the Sleeper's Tomb.Same area as before, only this one is to the West of that circle near /way -1512, -56, -18. Return this to Beldikan. Item is Handful of Snow. Task Window Text: Deliver the sample of snow to Beldikan. Deliver the Handful of Snow to Beldikan. Upon hand in: Iceweaver Beldikan says, 'Good, good.' The giant once again casts spell then licks the snow. 'As I thought. Not a bit of velium! That makes sense. Whatever is going on is using the magic in the velium, or the velium is reacting to the magic. I never thought that it was related to the velium, probably because our weapons aren't acting weird. I wonder why that is? Maybe the key is in the magic that is used to make velium weapons. We need to speak with a weaponsmith. Grand Armsmith Korin would know the secrets of forging velium. If you could find him and bring him here, he might be able to help me solve this problem.' Task Window Text: Beldikan thinks that the ice moves because the velium in this ice is moving, and it concentrates into the spires that you have seen. Because the giant's velium weapons do not seem to be affected by whatever is making the ice move, he wants some information about how those weapons are made. The Grand Armsmith would know much about that process.Head to the throne area and kill mobs to spawn Grand Armsmith Korin, then slay him. Task Window Text: ?Loot Notes of a Grand Armsman off his corpse. Task Window Text: ?Loot Smelting for the Grand Master off his corpse. You say, 'Hail, Iceweaver Beldikan' Iceweaver Beldikan says, 'Well, there might be information in these books about the properties of magic used to control velium. I'll have to read them. I'll have to find someone to translate this old dwarven gibberish. You may have provided us with what we need to stop this restless ice, assuming I have enough time to study this. Of course it would be better to stop whatever is causing it, but this may do for now. Thank you.' Your task 'The Ice Moves' has been updated.
