You can get this task from Andera Velmist in the dwarf fort in Crystal Caverns at +165, +473, -380 on the 2nd floor in the dwarf fort. Findable via Ctrl+F.

Andera Velmist says, 'Oh, thank Brell. Were you [sent] to us?'

You say, ' No one sent me.'

Andera Velmist says, 'Hrm. Well. I guess that's not important. If you got here through all of the creatures surrounding Froststone, you must be an able adventurer. That means you can help us solve our [problem].'

You say, ' Another dinky place with a dinky problem calling on adventures to help, but hey, I don't have anything better to do.'

Andera Velmist says, 'I'm not sure I like your attitude, but we do need help. Not too long ago, there was a massive noise, unlike anything we have heard. It resonated through the crystal of these caverns. And after that, the ice began to move. It isn't fast, but that doesn't matter because, well, it's ice! Ice shouldn't [move]!'

You say, ' Norrath is an amazing place, but yes, ice that moves is weird.'

Andera Velmist says, 'Yeah. Creepy. We're afraid that it will grow and take over if we don't do something about this. If your [willing] to assist, we'll start by helping Roderick. Keep your eyes open; I'll want to know if you see anything odd about the creatures you kill for him.'

    You say, 'Now there is an issue. The spiders are no longer alive. That ice has infused their bodies and is animating them. The creepy factor is tenfold because they still act like spiders, but slightly off. It's distrubing.

The more knowledge we accumulate, the better off we'll be. Since they keep duplicating, but they are not laying eggs, the spiders themselves may tell us what we need to know. So, go [capture a spider] alive, undead, or whatever. Bring it to the empty room on the upper level to the south.'

    Andera Velmist says, 'How should I know? You're the adventuring type. But, maybe someone here in Froststone can help you. You'll probably need something to stun it and a harness to keep it from attacking you while you drag it here.'

    Head over to Hursa Brightsteel (under the banker) and request her task Spider Harness

    Once you've obtained the harness, head back to Roderick and tell him 'I need to help Andera'. Crystal Glue will appear on your cursor.

    Go find a spider and DPS it to under 20%, then right-click the Crystal Glue on it, then right-click the Crystal Spider Capture Harness on it, then bring it to the empty room above Grabble Coldheart.

    Do not use invisibility or invis vs. undead at this point or you will lose the spider and will have to redo the step.

    The glue binds the spiders joints. It looks less agile.
    You captured a spider!


    Upon bringing the spider to the empty room:
    You tie the lead to a box.

    /way 174, 535, -548 is where this step updates at. Not far from the Eastern Wastes zone in just out from the geonids through the cave. The location will vary around that area so it will be different for each character of the group.

It will give us time to find a more permanent solution. With that in mind, take this and use it on the ice at the end of the stone near Evercold.'

    boxing some guys and had no issue with harness/glue .. BUT i did spell her name WRONG the first time - nod to previous post ... also if u pull spiders from the area just EAST ( roughly loc +232.33,+250.34 , -380) the GUARDS never attacked my spiders .. i was able to capture 3 spiders @ once !!! one for each box toon ....once captured my other boxes was unable to attack !!!! TIP: the 'ROOM" you needed JUST TO THE LEFT of Andera Velmist if you face her.. easier then saying above Grabble Coldheart...

    Current bug happening with this quest that after you get the spider harnass, Roderick won't give you the glue. A bypass of this is to hand Roderick your harness but DO NOT hit the give button, just open the trade window with the harness in it. Then say help Andera. He will give you the glue, and you can cancel the trade.

    This happened to me tonight running this for an alt, and handing the harness in to Roderick and saying the phrase worked like a charm!

    And if you are like me ... note the spelling of "Andera" -- I was typing "Andrea" for a long time wondering why I couldn't get the glue. duh!

    I've need running about the cave trying to get this to update. I've used the map on eqresource which is messy and nothing does it only update at 1 spot and is that random for everyone

    NM found it does not update in the geo tunnel exit to EW but at the bottom of the stairs before the tunnel at the giant crystal

    If you can, setup your campfire in the room that you need it to be in
    once the mob gets to 20%, and you have it tamed, port back and it will appear on you and done.

    Note #1 If you snare them lol definitely do this, because otherwise it will wait outside the room until snare wears off (18minute snare SUCKED)
    Also If you are in combat with it, it takes about... 10 seconds for that to drop after you tame it.. before you can campfire back SO.. be careful you didn't dot it too much (i overkilled like 5 of them WOOPS)

    Note #2 COH works too if you have a mule COHer to COH you back

    Lastly, although if you fail on the spiders you have to recollect everything to get a new harness, when it comes to the Terrors, you can actually have more than 1 at a time.. so I asked for 2 incase I screwed up, which I did.. so i was glad to have 2

    The spider died from dots :-( before i got back... so lost the glue and harness. The glue was no problem but the harness i couldn't just request a new one.

    If you fail to kill the two geonid fragments, just return to Andrea Velmist and hail her. She will give you an emote that allows you to reset the step. Saved me a lot of frustration when Daybreak said I would have to repeat the whole task.

    A few notes 3-boxing this quest:

    It seems invis will indeed cause terrors/spiders following you to stop in their tracks and become completely unresponsive. You can get another item to capture them from the NPC who gave you the original. I went ahead and camped out and back in for good measure before trying to capture another, and the 2nd time worked fine. I also had to wait for almost 30 seconds after leaving a few of my terrors in the dust running through the tunnels, but they eventually showed up and the updates completed. The captured mobs follow much like pets - frantically running and warping to keep up with you (or at least with my bard).

    I had intended to test campfiring directly back to the empty rooms to avoid the logistics and excessive fighting required for 3 toons to capture and return 6 separate mobs without invisibility, but I found that this was not necessary. I found 3 spiderlings being fought by a guard on my way back out of town - one spiderling already near death - and all three of these worked for my updates. This required zero invis or fighting (though I did help the guard speed things up on the other two spiderlings) and can be done just inside/outside of Froststone's city limits. There are plenty of other spiders adjacent to the city's exits which should allow you to complete this step very quickly, without invis, and potentially without even fighting.

    For the terrors, there are mostly non-aggro geonids and maybe a few spiders in the way out to the lake/broken bridge - along with a patrolling guard who paths and fights spiders a bit down into the tunnel. After using invis and lev to access and cross the broken bridge area, I grabbed up 3 terrors, ran back over the broken bridge, and carefully ran the terrors back into town and up into the empty room (a very short run) without any aggro at all. All in all the quest is long and a bit buggy perhaps, but I did not find it overly complicated or difficult.

    I lost a spider in tow on one tune, he just suddenly stopped following, and then on another tune the same thing when bringing in a captured terror. No rhyme or reason, just bugged, been waiting on EQ to answer my request for help for amost 24 hours. Bummed

    Seems to be a bug after capturing any of them, then making yourself invis. (I used bard's AA invis which gives normal and IVU).
