You can get this shared task from Yealdin Stormfell in The Eastern Wastes in the southeastern corner of the zone at -2394, -2373, -1, he is on the find tool (CTRL F).

Tip: If you failed a step, everyone in the group needs to go back to Yealdin and hail him and say "Try Again"

Yealdin Stormfell says, 'If you have come to threaten me there is no need. I have sworn to protect this place in exchange for refuge. The coldain have accepted my oath, as they should, and allow me to remain. As much as I might prefer to be out [seeking] my warband, I must remain here.'

You say, 'seeking'

Yealdin Stormfell says, 'I was separated from my soldiers when a horde of undead Ry'Gorr assaulted our fortress. I managed to fight my way out and was pursued here by a small group of monsters. In times like these it seems that even the oldest enemies must assist each other. The coldain aided me in defeating them and I have been here since. I am certain that my soldiers have held their posts and I would like to [assist them].'

Yealdin Stormfell says, 'It seems that if the coldain and I can remain civil under the circumstances, perhaps I can trust you to aid me and go to the fort and assist my war band. We living must band together if we are to survive. If you can [aid] my soldiers and return them here, we will be better able to guard this place, which is important for all of us.'

Yealdin Stormfell has dedicated himself to defending the coldain wall until whatever is causing the upheaval here. However, he was forced to leave some companions in the giant fortress and is now worried about them. He has asked you to see if you can find them and bring them here.

Head to the giant fort. Yealdin believes that his soldiers are still defending the fortress. He wants you to talk to them and bring them to him.


  • 1. Go to the giant fort and find where the Storm Boars are. 0/1 (The Eastern Wastes)

    An enormous restless dead orc leaps into the room and attacks.

    Head to the building on the south and just inside, "a wandering corpse" (orc style monster) will spawn. Kill for task update.

  • 2. Find a clue about where the Storm Boars have gone 0/1 (The Eastern Wastes)

    Loot the Terse Note from the just-slain orc.

  • 3. Head to the great bridge 0/1 (The Eastern Wastes)

    Head east--just north of the Crystal Caverns zone line--towards the two Coldain huts.

    Around location: 382, -1757, -25, 3x "A wandering corpse" will spawn.

  • 4. Defeat the undead orcs 0/1 (The Eastern Wastes)

    Kill the three undead orcs that spawned.

  • 5. Pick up the insignia ring as it surely indicates that the Storm Boars came this way 0/1 (The Eastern Wastes)

    Loot an Insignia of the Storm Boar from a wandering corpse's corpse.



  • Find the lost Storm Boars somewhere near the great bridge 0/1 (The Eastern Wastes)
    This step does not update if you se the 5 mobs up kill the 3 wolfs and then this step and then this step updates.

    3 wolfs and 2 giants will spawn under the south side of the bridge.



  • 6. Defeat the undead dire wolves surrounding the Storm Boars 0/1 (The Eastern Wastes)

    Kill the 3 wolves. The wolves can be singled pull without agroing one another.

  • 7. Defeat the Storm Boars and gather proof that you found them 0/1 (The Eastern Wastes)

    Kill the 2 giants.
    Loot an Insignia of the Storm Boar from a storm boar soldier's corpse.

    Problems with quest

    I did this quest recently (2024) and had some issues but managed to complete the task

    The giant fort was no problem, cleared the giants, stepped into the south hut and the mob spawned just inside the door to the left.

    Headed towards the bridge with no luck. After killing everything in the area, and just before giving up, I went back to the loc above, 382, -1757, -25, and camped out and back in. 3x "A wandering corpse" spawned as I logged back in.

    Headed to the south side of the bridge and only had 2 wolves and 2 giants standing there. Killed all 4 but no update. Had to log out and back in and they respawned. Killed one wolf and got the update (3 required), then killed the giants again and got the update. Make sure you kill wolves first, giants second.

    Rest of the quest worked just fine.

    Without going into too much detail my box group killed the Orc outside of the hut while using a tank mercenary. I didn't get any kind of update. Killed it again while inside the hut while tank merc was up. Still no update. Third time killed it inside the hut without the tank merc. That worked for updating the quest. Logging out/in the quest leader re spawned the Orc.

    Before taking on the wolves and the giants at the bridge, take out the 4 roaming Cold Skeletons that roam nearby. They have a large assist range and can be a problem.

    I spent about an hour trying to get the first step to complete. I killed the Orc and got no update. You can "reset" your ability to trigger the Orc, but you have to camp out and back in. I killed this Orc 4 times before reading about the issues using a merc tank in this quest. I swapped my merc tank for a cleric and tanked it all myself. Everything went perfectly after that.

    Pro Tip: DO NOT USE A MERC TANK ON THIS QUEST.

    I used both a merc and a pet. Don't post "guesses" . It's really not helpful

    I had the same issue as he did, pet tank it never updated for me, had to use an actual player tank and it immediately updated on each step where it wouldn't with pet.

    I think it was because the pet owner was outside the task, even though they were in group.

    It is indeed a bad one, and you have to wonder at a quest that is so broken that a workaround was actually coded in to respawn mobs in the quest in expectation that the quest would bug.

    I have had the quest go without flaw, but in the last week I have been doing it for a fair number of friends, and it has bugged on me six times, today three times during the same attempt at it.

    I pull the first wandering corpse, kill it, the quest does not update, so back to reset it, the orc spawns, we kill it, quest updates, loot the note, quest updates, life is good. We kill the three orcs, head to the giants and wolves, kill three wolves, quest does not update. We kill the giants, since they are there, nothing, so reset that, wolves spawn, giants do not. We kill the wolves, no giants, back to reset again, and the quest reverts back the first step.

    We mutter loudly, and back to the fort, pull the wandering corpse, kill it, quest does not update. No real purpose in looting the note, so we sit and discuss whether this quest is worth the mountain of hassle.

    I tried parts 1 and 2 with and without merc tanks. Never an update on either part with a merc tank but merc healers, pets, and dots were fine.

    This quest is straight up broken, wtf are they doing making this crap. Pathing is awful and the quest won't even update when I finally manage to kill the orc. Stuff like this makes me not want to progress through these expansions smh.

    GO back to the Quest Giver and say hail him and then he will give an Option to say Try Again... and then you can try again :-) as he resets that part

    Well... take it back yes i did click "Try Again" and he said to go do it, but the mobs were not up.. so although my quest log did Update, it said go kill the 3 undead wolves around the guards, but they aren't there so

    Is that just the entrance to Kael? First post /loc -199 , -2484 does not seem to be there but North of there and nothing spawns?
    Never mind found a map on another site, had no idea that bridge was there on the East Side of zone in the middle of the zone for others like me.

    Well...a group on auto pull pulled the wolves so the giants de-spawned BAH!

    For the first part, it seems the quest wont update unless you kill the orc inside of the hut, the south one. *SEE-CORRECTION-BELOW* I was able to move up with IVU to the giant next to the orc without aggroing anything but the giant and orc*ENDNOTE*, killed both and looted the paper, though before the end of the fight one of the other giants aggroed, dunno how, maybe i moved a bit.

    Solo or small group run-through: *CORRECTION > if you can calm, the above about not aggroing the giants int he hut can be true, but you'll probably aggro a bunch of them.

    Task: say 'aid' to Yealdin Stormfell at Entrance

    Step1: Head to the giant fort, at the south hut, with IVU nothing will aggro (like most or all of the zone) If you position yourself against the wall between the orc and the closest giant near him, you can use a calm spell on the other two giants (WIth a necro the aa works) , then Fight the Giant near the orc solo. After that, kill the orc and loot the item.
    If you can't calm them, most likely a bunch will aggro, unless you can find a good position (if that's possible). Pulling the orc outside de-spawned it once for me, so I don't know if that's a possibility.
    There's also a chance of wanderers aggroing you from behind the hut's walls.

    Step2: Head to around /loc 1275. -1085 , 3 orcs should just popup where the task updates. If you have IVU, they won't aggro. Use whatever tactics needed to split or offt-ank, or whatever, to kill them until the item needed drops. If the item drops off the first or second, you can proceed to step 3. The Necro undead calm AA or spell, or a super low radius calm/undead calm makes it easy to pull one at a time.

    Step3: This is more difficult solo (though I'm only at around 20k aa's), since the last two you need to kill aren't undead.
    Make your way to /loc -199 , -2484 and 3 undead wolves will spawn at the bridge along with two Stormboar Giants (a bit south and under the bridge). You have to defeat the wolves first to be able to attack the giants. There is a timer where the Giants will despawn, which will lead you to need to drop and re-do the task, since I just attempted this and got my merc killed twice after the wolves, i'd think a round 15-20 minutes.

    Since there's wandering skeletons close, it's easiest to pull the wolves to under the bridge. They summon but can be snared, can be calmed.
    The Stormboars can be snared, but summon, are not undead. If you can kill them and loot, you can move on to the next steps, which are the turn in and text says.

    I’m stuck on step 6 of this task. I found the wolves & giants & combed the area throughly for the trigger spot for the update but can’t find it. I’ve went on to kill the wolves, which updated the next step in the quest (still hidden by ?????? marks). I then killed the giants & looted the insignia but no update. Tried giving the hand in’s to the quest giver but he will not accept them yet. Also tried killing the mobs with no pets or DoT’s as someone suggested. I’ve dropped & redid this quest up to this spot 4 times now. Anyone else stuck here or know where the update spot is? Thanks

    I got to the step where you spawn 3 wolves and 2 giants, and got overwhelmed with skelly adds. I should of read these comments before I did it but to save you some grief fight the wolves under the bridge until the giants become active and you can get away with not getting many skellies. I took too long to kill them and the giants despawned, but if you relog the mobs all spawn right again and you can continue with out having to restart.

    Just ridiculous. The pathing is straight up broken at the giant fort. Pulling a mob out of the giant hut in nearly impossible. Mobs are straight up stuck in the wall and cannot exit the door. Be ready for all four mobs, try to run them out of the fort then fade, escape or whatever you can before you have a chance at single pulling the wandering corpse. Lame.

    You can maximise the time available before the giants despawn by delaying looting the first ring dropped by the orcs. Wait until your party is at the bridge and you've cleared all the pesky skeletons nearby. Once you loot the ring (can be done remotely if using advanced looting) the wolves and giants will pop.

    If you should happen to fail in a step, ie. mob despawns, someone steals your mob etc., have someone in group log out and back in and then you can retrigger the spawn at the point in the quest you are in. I was able to do this for the first orc and the dire wolves and giants at the bridge. I didn't need to do it for the 3 orcs but I imagine it works the same. hope this helps.

    I too had the storm boars despawn on my group while fighting them. I tried logging a player out and back in and it did not work. I gated everyone out of the zone, logged them all out and then back into the game, went back over to EW and the storm boar never did respawn. Sigh....

    Unfortunately, I noticed as well that is was fixed with the last patch. I couldn't get it to work either. But I did pop all my dps mercs and used animals with full burn and was able to complete it now that it's not buggy. Try splitting the group into 2 groups with dps mercs. Mercs won't count as part of the task so you can keep 6 in if that's your makeup.

    To update. I wasn't able to respawn the storm boars after all 3 dire wolves were killed and I got that quest update for them.

    Edit: I have since been able to restart the spawn after completing the dire wolf phase by logging out and in. I didn't get credit of course for the giants because I used mercs and pets. Hope that gets fixed soon.

    For People having trouble getting the kill updates i think it is either pets or dots stopping the update from working correctly, straight melee without pets and every update worked correctly.

    When you get to the last 2 giants, if you are too slow to kill them they will despawn, prob a bug.

    Re: 'no dots' 'no pets' - this is the unhelpful urban legend kind of advice (I heard some guy say...) we get all the time in EQ. This quest is daybroke AF, but I've completed successfully using pets, dots AND pets + dots, so...

    While its not been a problem for loooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn :-) it truly was at one point. Its just really old that i have seen this truly be an actual issue, but under super rare occasions (for pets),
