/loc of Wenglawks Kkeak? Minimum faction required to get quest?

You say, 'Hail, Wenglawks Kkeak'

Wenglawks Kkeak says 'Greetings, I have heard of you. My name is Wenglawks Kkeak. Welcome to my humble home. My sources tell me you are a mercenary. Is this true?'

You say, 'I am a mercenary.'

Wenglawks Kkeak says 'Well then, I suppose you might be looking for work. Are you?'

You say, 'I am looking for work.'

Wenglawks Kkeak says 'I have been looking for a few good people to deliver goods for me. I have several deliveries to clients which must be made soon. My last delivery person ended up dead, unfortunately.'

You say, 'Dead?'

Wenglawks Kkeak says 'Yes, I do not know who did it, as there is not much competition in this city for trade. He was found stabbed in the back and gutted, just outside the city.'

You say, 'I will deliver goods for you.'

This no longer works. What response currently works?

Wenglawks Kkeak says 'Are you sure you will be up to this journey? It will take a hardened person to survive the trip. Let alone find my client. Do you really want to go out into the dangerous lands in the west?'

You say, 'You can trust me.'

Wenglawks Kkeak says 'I will curse your immortal soul if you fail. In the depths of the icy waters of the cobalt scar lives an outcast siren who preys upon her own kind. We have a deal, I will provide her with an excellent hunting net and she will provide me with a giant cloak made of the scales of her kind. Take this voucher to Kellek and deliver the net. Do whatever it takes to get my cloak.'

Give the note to Kellek in the next room and he gives you a Mechanical Net. Take that net to the outcast siren in Cobalt Scar and she will give you an idol. She then asks you to find her three excellent siren scales (very rare drops from any siren). Return the idol and the three scales to her and she will give you back a cloak.

Take this cloak back to Wenglawk and he will reward you with a very nice container.

Since I'm out to do this quest for the novelty of the reward container, I'll go ahead and fill in as much as I can for this page.

Wenglawks' location = positive (+)196.41 , positive (+)1766.29

NOTE: I can't tell what, if any, faction he may be on. As others have previously posted, he conned Indifferent to my Bard. My guess is that he is simply a neutral NPC, so no faction would be required to begin the quest.

You say, 'Hail, Wenglawks Kkeak'

Wenglawks Kkeak says 'Greetings, ______, I have heard of you. My name is Wenglawks Kkeak. Welcome to my humble home. My sources tell me you are a mercenary. Is this true?'

You say, 'Mercenary'

Wenglawks Kkeak says 'Well then, I suppose you might be looking for work. Are you?'

You say, 'Work'

Wenglawks Kkeak says 'I have been looking for a few good people to deliver goods for me. I have several deliveries to clients that must be made soon. My last delivery person ended up dead, unfortunately.'

You say, 'Deliveries'

Wenglawks Kkeak says 'I have three clients whose orders must be taken care of. These will not be simple deliveries. I want you not only to deliver the items but to assist them if they need help using their packages. Do you wish to hear of the first task I have for you?'

NOTE: At this point, I attempted to skip ahead of what appears to be multiple (probably three total) quest segments by using the phrase 'You can trust me'. Upon receiving the voucher and attempting to give it to Kellek, I experienced the same lack of proper reaction, beyond the previously mentioned 'I have no use for this,' ...etc etc. Undaunted, I am going to go ahead and try completing the entire set of tasks to see if perhaps that will allow me to continue with the voucher -> Kellek part. I'll go ahead and outline everything I go through to get to that point, just for the sake of providing the information.

You say, 'First task'

Wenglawks Kkeak says 'One of my clients lives on the shores of the Iceclad Ocean. His name is Sojan. Supposedly he is some kind of pirate from the other lands. However, I could not care less what he calls himself. He paid me well to acquire him a set of Coldain tools and they were not easy to come by. Are you willing to take this package to Sonaj?'

NOTE: The spelling of the 'client' name at the end of the dialogue bit above is not a typo on my part; that is how it reads in-game. I'll come back to this part later to confirm the actual NPC name.

You say, 'Willing'

Wenglawks Kkeak says 'Wonderful, Zaviere. Take this note to Kellek and he will give you the tools.'

You are given a Voucher for Toolset (LORE, NO TRADE - ALL/ALL - TINY)

NOTE: Okay, well it appears the previous post about needing at least Warmly faction with Kellek may in fact be accurate. My Bard is Dubious at the moment, and only gets up to Amiable with the use of Cinda's Charismatic Carillon, which means I have a little faction grinding to do. I'm going to go blow up Temple of Veeshan or something, and come back to continue once I am able to push up to Warmly with Kromzek. I'll go ahead and post this as a WIP for now, just in case.

TO BE CONTINUED

after "...unfortunately"

You say: Dead?

Weng. says: "Yes, I do not know who did it, as there is not much competition in this city for trade. He was found stabbed in the back and gutted, just outside the city.

["I will deliver goods for you" doesn't work, or no longer works for this line]

Sidenote: simply saying "work?" works for response 2.

That's very nice.
How about elaborating for people just how you got it to work.

{When I skip ahead in the dialogue to "You can trust me" I get the voucher, but as the others illustrate below ole K in the next room won't give up the net for it}

Siren spawn
# Jun 12 2004 at 12:03 AM Rating: Decent
FINALLY found the outcast siren...she does NOT spawn "just below the water line" but spawns on the bottom of the ocean at -1432 -890. Also, I multi quested by first turning in 2 scales with one char, then turned in 1 scale and the idol with a second char to get the cloak with the second char. The cloak is LORE NO DROP.

When I did the final turn-in I forgot to leave an empty primary slot open for the bag, but I got the bag anyway on my cursor. A prior post said otherwise, so this must've been fixed.

well I tried to this quest about 6months ago and it would not work. Friend who said she was max ally handed the voucher to kellek and nothing happened, so i asusmed quest was broken.

I tried just now to do it again, but now the siren is no where to be found (I'm at that loc, with a tracker, and nothing). I talked to wenglawks and i notice when i said "I will deliver the goods" like in the quest description I get no response, but saying "you can trust me" does.

sigh... quest is getting very frustrating

People were saying the outcast siren was not spawning. I believe that she spawns after you do the dialogue with Wen. At least she did 3 times for me. I have the 3 scales, the voucher, but doubious to Kellek even with an Enc faction cast. Good luck all

I just tried talking to Wenglawk, handing the voucher to Kellek, and she did not spawn. Had one char talking to the NPCs and another char in CS. Seems broken to me. This is on Kane Bayle.

NOT broken
# Oct 17 2003 at 6:19 AM Rating: Decent
My Monk completed this quest a few hours ago. Here's how it was done:

1. Get the 3 siren scales needed with the character that wants the cloak (or at least 1 of the scales with that character). I had to clear all the sirens in Cobalt Scar (15 static + 2 wandering spawns) about 6 times to get 3.
2. Use a warmly-to-Kromzek character to talk to Wenglawks, and give the voucher to Kellek to get the Net.
3. Get this character to Cobalt Scar, and hand the Net to the Outcast Siren. He gets the Totem back. (siren appears to despawn/respawn).
4. The character with the Totem hands it to the Siren, then the character with the scales hands them in to the Siren, to get the Cloak.
5. The Cloak can then be handed to Wenglawks in Kael when he goes to the room with the 3 merchants. Or, possibly, the Warmly-to-Kael character can pull Wenglawks to a zone-line, I don't think anyone will assist him because he is not on any faction.

EDIT: I'm fairly sure that there wasn't a faction hit for the final hand-in.

Just wait outside, by the tunnel that goes to the Manor area, Weng will sooner of later take a walk up there, my level 25 ranger did turn in the cloak when he was walking up that tunnel, tried to hail him to get him to stop but no luck, so i just made sure i was very close to him, kinda walked between his legs while i gave him the cloak. Worked for me, just make sure he doesnt get to far away or you might loose the cloak...

It's 12/19 had a patch and no sign of her here...
can anyone confirm if she seems bugged on other servers?

GM would do nothing to help, and there is no info on spawn timer etc.

Possibly a bugged quest now.

/sigh...not exactly sure why I got dinged for commenting the outcast siren indeed still pops.

Completed the quest today following the advice of the MQ. I had ended up getting 6 excellent scales while hunting for the siren hairs in Cobalt Scar. I used these to get my own WR bag as well as get the guildy that was MQ with me one as well. So to make the point crystal clear, the siren does still spawn. You should be able to check track as you zone in and see if she is up.

Scales
# Sep 01 2002 at 3:18 AM Rating: Decent
Took me 3 hours to get the three scales I need. Now have to wait for friend on Kael faction to log on so I can MQ it.
First killed by SG,..4 spawns, pulled 2 at a time almost to the SG zone. Then moved to SS tower and pulled them 2 or three at a time depending on my timing. There are 4 spawns here. 8 all together. I guess I got one scale ever 12-14 kills. Also got 2 horns, and 2 runed seashells...5 charges of EB.
I finish this quest

Either I didn't say the right thing or something else is wrong. I con ally to Kellek and gave him the scroll given to me by Wenglawks for the third quest. *I already did the previous two and asked about third client* Took note to Kellek and he gave me a coldain toolset again, not the net??? Maybe something else is going on here? I don't think there's any faction higher than ally atm so I'm pretty sure I have the right amount of faction. Any ideas anybody?

There is nothing more annoying then haveing your magic resistance up to 119 and have a mob that is green to you, probablly about 20 levels lower, charm you, fear you, nuke you, and then path off the screen when its done so you can't kill it. It gets even better when it paths upward and starts charming all the soloists who are hunting wyverns (ok so that is funny). I had the patience to camp it for 2 scales, but i dont think i want to waste my time going for the third. If you want to do this the fun way, bring a bunch of friends so that when one of you gets charmed the others can get in a fight with you and the stupid fish woman with a man's voice wont path halfway across the zone at bard speed.

It took me 3 days to do this quest. It was easy enough to do following the instructions lited here above. The outcast siren was right where she was supposed to be -1500,-900 or somthing like that she is right in the water beside the dragon portal. The best way to kill the sirens were to pick on the low level enticers. I buffed up then I went invis and targeted them swam away until I was out of casting range moved back until i could cast a DOT then turned and ran away a small dist and rooted then Nuked till dead. Sometimes they land a charm spell on you which never lasted that long but it was ok because you are instantly back to full health when they charm you. Also the have a lot of DD spells so have a heal spell ready. And they gate if they are at low health. Dont underestimate them they get nasty real fast. I died several times.=)
Multiquesting this...
# Nov 14 2001 at 1:44 AM Rating: Decent
...Did it successfully tonight. I'm very KoS to all Kael factions, but with a guildie's help who is on Kael faction, I was able to turn in the 3 scales to the outcast after my friend turned in the idol, and I _did_ get the cloak. The I simply gave the cloak to Wenglanks, and I got the Manly Purse (lol!).

All too easy, if you're KoS to Kael, you just need to kill sirens until you get a scale, and have a friend on Kael faction.

SCREWED up quests
# Oct 28 2001 at 5:02 PM Rating: Default
I guess you're just supposed to maghically know to say "you can trust me" and "what third client." Upon intitial hailing this guy, if you follow the LOGICAL responses, such as "I will deliver" etc, he gives you a note, you give that note to Kellek, he gives you a toolset, and then says something to the effect of "don't fail." He NEVER tells you what the f uck to do with the toolset or who to take it to. Who is the moron who made this quest, and how do they expect you to know who to take the stupid coldain toolset to unless they tell you? Stupid clods.
RE: SCREWED up quests
# Feb 01 2002 at 7:33 PM Rating: Good
The quests are not screwed up. I did them first thing after I wasn't KoS in Kael. The toolbox is for a gnome in iceclad. He then gives you a spear for his second client that you take to a giant in the forst in GD. Taht giant helps you kill a named shardwurm and then you get a Kromriff Battle Totem, handy little item that adds a little str int wis mana and hp. Then you go back to Wenglaaks and you say whawt third client. Why? Because he told you before that he has THREE clients. He also tells you where to take the items if you know what to ask him. I've done this whole quest without even looking it up on a website. I jsut experimented by asking him various things until I got an answer. That's how EQ is supposed to be done. That's how people find these quests out to begin with. Looking it up on a website is a quick fix, but you feel much more fulfilled by doing it the intended way. The quests on these sites are all spoilers, and are nice for people without much time. Granted some are messed up, but this one is not.

My necro is kindly to the giants. Can I turn in everythjing and give the siren the idol, then log onto my wiz that has the scales, and give her the 3 scales and get the bag?
#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 03 2001 at 1:33 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ok heres the answer to everyones questions. This purse isnt that good it is 70% weight reduction for the stuff in it but only about 10% for coins, which is less than the tiny coin purse which you could buy off a player for about 1k. However both of those items stack if you have both purses. so with 8k cash on ya with welks purse you go from 273 wiegth to 264, with tiny coin purse its 273 to 247 and with both you will go down to wieght of 224
RE: tem from saryn
# Oct 05 2001 at 4:34 AM Rating: Excellent
Wrong, There is NO coin weight reduction attached to this bag.

Zero!, Zilch!, Zip!

40 coins = 1 weight

Don't use stupid numbers like 273, use something easy to measure.

Wenglawks Manly Purse, 40 coins = 1 weight = no reduction.

Tiny Coin Purse, 50 coins = 1 weight = 20% reduction.

I'll test Large Coin Purse as soon as I get it.

Now this may be just broken and ment to give coin reduction, who knows, but at the moment, it doesn't.

Does this reduce coin weight?

I heard a rumor that not only does this reduce the weight of the items you put inside it, but it also reduces the weight of coins you are carrying. Is this true?

Wenklawks is beta-neutral and the outcast siren is too, but Kellek is on Kromzek faction. To get the net you need to be Warmly to Kellek -- even high amiable isn't good enough. Everything is nodrop all the way through so no way around it... unless you get someone to MQ the net/idol at the outcast siren.

Doing the quest gives a very small amount of xp at each of the three stages and doesn't give any faction adjustments at all.
