This quest begins with Bloogy Shellcracker in Cobalt Scar (location 187.25, -1507.34, 77.76 on upper edge of coast).

You say, 'Hail, Bloogy Shellcracker'

Bloogy Shellcracker says, 'Hello, strange one. I am Bloogy Shellcracker, the preparer of meals for my people. I am not familiar with the culinary tastes of your kind but you are welcome to purchase some of my supplies. I will also barter for ingredients to some of my exotic dishes.'

You say, 'What ingredients?'

Bloogy Shellcracker says 'The rarest treat I can prepare for my people is saucy salted seadragon steak. I wish to barter for some water dragon meat, saltwater seaweed, and fish eggs. The rest of the ingredients are collected locally by our collectors.

You need one Water Dragon Meat. Water Dragon Meat (dropped by Kelorek`Dar, Lord Koi`Doken, or Faydedar) will suffice.

Saltwater seaweed is fished in Ocean of Tears or Timorous Deep. You need one of these.

Fish eggs are made by combining,
1 X Thunder Salmon or Greengill Salmon or Evergreen Salmon
1 X Skinning Knife
in a Tackle Box (Skill: Fishing, Trivial: 135)
Yields:
2 X Fish Eggs
2 X Fish Scales

Give 1 Water Dragon Meat, 1 Fish Eggs and 1 Saltwater Seaweed to Bloogy Shellcracker.

Bloogy Shellcracker says 'It has been many moons since my people have feasted on this rarest of meat. Take this totem crafted in the form of our oceanlord Prexus and inscribed with the runes of our people. may the oceans watch over you, _____'

Your faction standing with Othmir got better.
Your faction standing with Ulthork got worse.

You DEFINITELY need two fish eggs and two seaweeds, though why the quest text doesn't reflect this I just don't know.

Ok. I just want some Clarity on the Meat. Please state what it exactly says. I just recently got my hands on some Dragon Meat. Want to be VERY sure it's the right stuff before I turn in all these items and find out that it's not the right one. To explain how I got it, a very good friend of mine had purchased the Dragon Meat at an auction for a VERY low price, he gave it to me due to the fact that we're hunting together ALL the time and it would serve me more justice than would he. EVEN though everyone on Bristlebane knows I NEVER loot anything and ask for nothing. I just GIVE GIVE GIVE. Please make this more clear for me. I BEG OF YOU ALL WHO'VE FINISHED THE QUEST. Does the item say SEA DRAGON MEAT or DRAGON MEAT.

Yeah has to be Sea Dragon Meat, if you have dragon meat I'd just sell it and buy a new Shift key with the money instead.

Just a note regarding faction; You can indeed turn in the items to Bloogy and get the totem back if your faction is "apprehensive." I know; I tried.
Got one!

I won the sea dragon meat after my guild killed kelorek the other day. I ran down to oot and fished for the seaweed. FYI seaweed doesn't stack, and the icon looks like kiola sap. I also picked up a tackle box from brother isle and put that in my pocket till I got to north karana. When I ported to north karana I ran south to the water and immediately started fishing for thunder salmon. I fished one and failed on combining it with the skinning knife in my tackle box, then I fished another and it worked. Results were two eggs and one fish scale. After this was all said and done I went back to Cobalt Scar. My faction was still apprehensive so I hailed bloogy and he gave me the quest anyway. So with my fingers crossed I turned in one item at a time, hitting trade after each one. First the meat, TRADE! Then 1 egg, TRADE! Another egg, TRADE! Seaweed, TRADE! Another seaweed, TRADE! BOOM! quest was complete and I got the reward!
For such an awesome item this quest is by far the easiest I've done! I'm happy :)

p.s. my fishing skill was around 85 at the time of fishing in oot and nk.
question
# Jul 02 2001 at 3:38 PM Rating: Default
What skill is used to make the fish eggs? Would it be baking? Thats the only food type skill I can think of.
RE: question
# Jul 22 2001 at 5:24 PM Rating: Good
Combining anything in a tackle box (fish and skinning knives [NOT skinning rocks]) is based on FISHING skill. Not baking.

Minor details regarding the quest.

Yes, that is the same knife as the coldain ring quest. At least I am pretty sure it is.

When I turned in 2 Saltwater Seaweeds, 1 Seadragon Meat, and 2 stacked Fisheggs (in that order) I got the following responses:
Not enough to complete the quest
Not enough to complete the quest
What the hell am I gonna do with this?
Congrats you completed the quest
Not enough to complete the quest

In that order

Fish eggs was not trivial at a skill of 73, but I did get them on the second try. Luck? who knows.

ok so I noticed something in that text. You said:

"When I turned in 2 Saltwater Seaweeds, 1 Seadragon Meat, and 2 stacked Fisheggs (in that order) I got the following responses"

stacked? stacked ? do you understand what I am asking ? why would you hand in STACKED stuff ? Everyone knows you must UNSTACK stuff for quests.

Talk about stupid....

Of course you can turn in items stacked...
If you do not believe me, buy some bat-wings and turn them in to one of the mages in Felwithe-casterguild, or bonechips to some dude in Cabilis, or redwine to someone in Neriak...

Hand them in stacks by 4 (16 each time with all 4 trade-slots filled) and you will complete that quest 4 times when hitting the trade-key.....

Next time, I suggest you get some facts before dizzing someone....

RE: Stupid Information: Take it as you will
# Nov 28 2001 at 8:13 PM Rating: Decent
...and how does he simultaneously hand in 5 items unstacked??

Also, SOME quests do allow stacked items - check out the old bone chip quest in Kaladim...

RE: Stupid Information: Take it as you will
# Nov 08 2004 at 5:46 PM Rating: Default
You can NOT do the Bone Chip quest in Kaladim stacking the chips! This post is very old and the quest has been updated since then. I only mention it here because I've noticed MANY times that the hand-ins to Gunlok is "off"(only need to turn in 1 to 3 chips to "balance" it again). So some people are either mis-informed,or they turn in their extras to free-up inventory space.

Thank you for listening and have a nice day! :-)
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 05 2002 at 11:31 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) your stupid, everyone knows NPC trade windows are 4 boxes, 2 for the seaweed, one for the meat and ANOTHER for the eggs WHICH has to be stacked. Uhm hi, calling ppl stupid... know how MQ'ing works?

You can hand in some stuff first, hit the trade button, and hands other stuff right after and you still get the quest item. You could even hand in each single piece separately and hit trade for each one (doing 5 trades), and it would still work. Yes this can be MQ'ed if one person hands in some of the items and then another person hands in the rest. The last person to hand in items and complete the quest receives the item.

EDIT: Fixed some, if not all, typos

Wow, that's pretty scarry. Sounds like maybe the seadragon meat was given to him previously from somebody else ******** up the quest and it got yours and thought it was extra and trashed it. Looks like he already had a seadragon meat and one fish egg. He took the seaweeds, trashed the meat (because he already had one), took and 1st egg (and completed the quest) and then took the 2nd egg towards a new cycle of the quest.

This is the 1st time I have seen a quest that accepts more than 4 items (doesn't mean there haven't been others).

# Jun 22 2001 at 3:07 PM Rating: Decent
Did you actually receive the quest item?

From the message text, it doesn't sound clear if you got the totem or not.

Which Faydedar did you kill? The one in CS or the one in TD?

Thanks.

Skinning rock
HQ walrus hide
Wooly mammoth horn

if not please tell me the recipie for the Skinning knife....
RE: Skinning Knife
# Feb 13 2002 at 7:55 PM Rating: Decent
No a skinning knife is:

Dagger Blade Mold
Hilt Mold
Small Block of Ore (non-stackable)
Water Flask

In a forge. Was trivial when I made mine at 51 smithing. Think it trivials at well below that (as in, if you don't want to raise smithing, just get stuff for 10 tries and have at it.)

Anyone who has done the Neriak "Red Wine" quest EFFICIENTLY knows that you CAN stack items for quest NPCs. I personally gave 4 stacks of 4 bottles of Red Wine in each trade (16 total), and have also given Lynuga in Innothule Swamp 4 Rubies stacked and it worked as 4 reward / experience gains.

Sometimes this works well and sometimes it doesn't, unless they changed it recently to make it work all the time...
My own experience is with the "Muffin for Pandos" quest, and giving him up to three muffins stacked will work, but over that wouldn't. So 4 full stacks of muffins would only be 12 faction hits, same as if I'd given 4 partial stacks of 3 each.
However, it's good to know that it works for this quest at least.

The bat wing quest for the flare spell can be stacked when i was doing this quest about 300 times to raise faction so i could do my epic i was handing the batwings in as 4 stacks of 4 meaning it did the quest 4 times per hand in meaning she counted the stack of 4 batwings as 4 bat wings not as one.

Well after careful inspection, it looks like the uber guild on all the servers have something else to fight over now for their wisdom casters. An 18 wisdom range slot item. Man I would love to get one of these, lol.
Re: Stacking items
# Apr 12 2001 at 9:41 PM Rating: Default
It's not strictly true that you are always SOL when you give stacked identical items to a quest NPC. I know of one NPC where it doesn't matter at all. When doing the Trueshot Longbow sub-quest in Kaladim, you give Tumpy Tonics to Trantor Everhot 2 at a time STACKED, or he often refuses to give you any wire (even if given two in separate slots).
Kelorek'Dar gone?
# Apr 10 2001 at 6:52 PM Rating: Default
Nobody on my server has seen any sign of Kelorek'Dar for the past month or two now, we are thinking Verant took him out of the game.. That leaves Faydedar as a possible source for the sea dragon meat, does anyone know if Faydedar can drop any meat when he is triggered to spawn through the dwarf as part of the druid epic, or if he can only drop meat when he spawns normal?
No, i just saw him 2 days ago

This quest requires two (2) fish eggs (can be stacked), two (2) saltwater seaweeds, and one (1) sea dragon meat. Possibly water dragon meat as well, but unconfirmed at this time.

I have PERSONALLY completed this quest 3 times in the last 2 hours, I am 100% sure of the ingredients and amounts (I had 3 meat stashed in the bank from various Kelorak'Dar killings, and passed out the totems to guildies).

Check the message titled 'Solved' for stats on the item.

Saltwater seaweed is a nodrop item fished in Ocean of Tears.

Fish eggs is made by combining a player-made skinning knife with Thunder Salmon in a tackle box. Each salmon produces a stack of 2 eggs. Thunder Salmon are fished in the Karanas. I fished it in West Karana specifically.
RE: Spoiler
# Apr 12 2001 at 1:59 AM Rating: Default
Actually, this seems to be incorrect, by what I did last night.

I handed Bloogy Shellcracker one item at a time. I handed him one fish eggs and he responded with, "Sorry, strange one, that is not enough to barter with". I handed him a second fish eggs and he responded with, "I'm...erm, not quite sure what to do with this, but....thanks, I guess." Meaning, he only needed 1 fish egg. I then handed him a Saltwater Seaweed, and he responded with the message of not being enough to barter with. I handed him a second Seaweed, and he gave the "I don't know what to do with this" message. Meaning he only needed 1 Seaweed. I then handed in my Saltwater Dragonmeat and obtained a Totem.

Since they changed the trade skill combines to treat stacked items as one item, maybe this works the same way? i.e. he treats 2 stacked eggs as just one?

RE: Spoiler
# Apr 15 2001 at 3:31 AM Rating: Decent
Trade skills have always treated stacked items as one, least in the nearly 2 years I've played.
RE: Spoiler
# Apr 11 2001 at 12:42 AM Rating: Default
Not to disregard all the hard work you have done and how "sure" you are...but you never never never ever, in my knowledge, give quest NPCs stacked items. if you do, you're going to be SOL unless they only needed one of that item. Just my 2 copper, but i believe you only need 1 egg for the quest.

I haven't done it myself, but looking at the information everyone has posted it seems the correct combination is 2 seaweed, 1 meat, 1 egg. but what the heck turn in 2 eggs stacked if you want, its not like the eggs are the difficult part to get.
Result on how many seaweed and eggs
# Apr 09 2001 at 8:49 AM Rating: Default
To complete the quest, you have to give :

1 dragon meat
1 fish eggs
2 saltwater seaweeds

So for those who ask for some facts, it's how I solved this.

First i gave 2 eggs in stack, got answer "i don't know what to do with that" as usual with stacked items.

Then I gave 1 seaweed and 1 egg and my meat one after one (3 differents trade windows), got 3 answers "it's not enough".

Gave a second eggs, no result except it's not enough

Gave finally a second seaweed and got the totem.

As trade windows have only 4 slots, stacked eggs don't work and had to give 2 seaweeds, for me, the result is clear :P.

1 fish eggs
2 seaweeds
1 meat

I'm not entirely sure of the componets, one egg or two, one seaweed or two but it has been solved and it gives out a Othmir Prexus Totem that rocks. I saw it on another spoiler site, nice, nice stuff. +18 wis +20 Sta -8 all/all Magic, Lore.

(Wow this thing is gonna sell for a lot!)

Please if you figure out how many eggs and seaweed post it so people don't waste they're pieces.

Nice try, but if you re-read the quest you would see that he says "the rest of the ingredients are found by the local collectors" meaning the stuff he needs is likely not local or is beyond their ability to collect. We already know that saltwater seaweed comes from OOT and have recently discovered the eggs from the Thunder fish in the Karanas.

You combine the special fish types with a skinning knife in a "TACKLE BOX" to get the fish eggs. Trival for this is about 100ish. This works with the Thunder Salmon from the Karanas only one i tried that gave them.

It seems that putting certain fish in a tackle box with a skinning knife gets diferent combinations. Sometimes fish eggs.
