At the end of the previous quest, Maesyn Trueshot mentioned a next incarnation of the bow.

You say, 'What is the next incarnation?'

Maesyn Trueshot says 'The Trueshot Longbow was once enchanted by the Koada'Dal enchanters. Once it was enchanted now it is no more. I am sure if you were ask the Koada'Dal [where the enchanted bows] are you will get an answer.'

Go to Felwithe. Kinool Goldsinger may be found in the Enchanter guild.

You say, 'Where can I get an Enchanted Bow?'

Kinool Goldsinger says 'Alas... Another ranger in search of the [Rain Caller]. She is no more.'

You say, 'What is the Rain Caller?'

Kinool Goldsinger says 'Rain Caller is the name we give each Trueshot longbow once it is enchanted. Unfortunately, I am unable to enchant them any longer. One of the components is no longer available. Someone would have to strike a [deal with the fairie folk]. Once I have that and the [remaining components] I can create the Rain Caller, a ranger's bow.'

You say, 'What deal with the fairie folk?'

Kinool Goldsinger says 'The fairie princess, Joleena, used to have a metal gnome deliver [fairie gold dust] to the Keepers every month. She has stopped this and now refuses to offer it to any nation of Faydwer. What she is angry about, we do not know.'

You say, 'What fairie gold dust?'

Kinool Goldsinger says 'Fairie gold dust is an enchanted powder which only a fairie princess can create.'

You say, 'What remaining components?'

Kinool Goldsinger says 'The remaining components are the Trueshot longbow and a treant heart. There will also be the guild donation in the amount of 3000 gold coins. These and the [fairie gold dust] will merit a ranger the Rain Caller enchanted bow.'

Princess Joleena may be found in the Lesser Faydark.

You say, 'Hail, Princess Joleena'

Princess Joleena says 'I am the Fairie Princess, Joleena. You may stay amongst my people, but do not nibble from our homes.'

You say, 'I want fairie gold dust.'

Princess Joleena says 'You wish the magical Fairie Gold Dust? Hmmph!! I refuse to offer it to any of the giants of Faydwer. How can I trust any of you. You have crept up upon my me and snatched one of my wings from my back. There will be no Fairie Gold Dust until my wing has been returned to me. You may not be the stalker [who snatched my wing], but all you giants are similar. Prove me wrong and return my wing.'

You say, 'Who snatched your wing?'

Princess Joleena says 'I did not see the swift giant, I was blinded by the sun glaring off his balding head. I do remember the smell of rust and refuse. How he got past my Clockwork Guardian, Gearheart, is a mystery to us all.'

The bald "giant" she's talking about is Sanfyrd Featherhead in Ak'Anon.

You say, 'Hail, Sanfyrd Featherhead'

Sanfyrd Featherhead says 'Greetings. I am the operator of this Scrapyard. If you have any Scrap Metal I would be glad to purchase it from you in loads of four. The Gemchoppers no longer allow me to accept Blackbox Fragments and Micro Servos.'

You say, 'Do you know where Princess Joleena's wing is?'

Sanfyrd Featherhead says 'No!! You cannot have my magic Fairie Wing!! I need it. I read somewhere within the great library that the magic wing from a fairie princess will restore my full head of hair. Look at me!! I am bald!! I have no [friends] at all.'

You say, 'I am your friend.'

Sanfyrd Featherhead says 'Oh. You are just saying that so you can get my fairie wing. I will make you a deal. I cannot rely on this wing forever. I will trade it with you if you could get me a case of hair tonic. If you are a true friend you [will fetch the hair tonic] for me.'

You say, 'I will fetch the hair tonic.'

Sanfyrd Featherhead says 'Great!! Here you go, my friend. Take this crate and within you shall fill each slot with hair tonic. When all are combined within the crate, return it to me for your wing. I am not sure what the tonic was or where I got it. There is some writing on the crate, but I could not identify it.'

You receive a Crate for Tonics, a 10-slot SMALL container. You must now go to Freeport. Ping Fuzzlecutter is a gnome merchant located outside the west gate. Buy 10 of Fuzzlecutter Formula 5000 from him, enough to fill the crate, then hit combine to craft A Crate of Tonic.

Upon Hand In of the crate to Sanfyrd:
Sanfyrd Featherhead says, 'Huzzah! You are my friend. Now you can take my old toupee and get it repaired. Just go to Freeport and ask Ping to [repair the toupee]. Hey! You know what? He is the guy who sells the hair tonic! I remember now. Well... Get my toupee repaired and I will give you the fairie wing.'

Sanfyrd Featherhead says 'Huzzah!! You are my friend. Now you can take my old toupee and get it repaired. Just go to Freeport and ask Ping to [repair the toupee]. Hey!! You know what? He is the guy who sells the hair tonic!! I remember now. Well,.. Get my toupee repaired and I will give you the fairie wing.'

You receive a Tattered Toupee, which identifies as "Sanfyrd's Used Toupee." Head back to West Freeport and Ping Fuzzlecutter.

You say, 'Can you repair the toupee?'

Ping Fuzzlecutter says 'Ah!! You have a toupee to repair. It must be the [Mane Attraction]. I gave one out and it seems to always fall to pieces. Seeing as it has a 100 season warranty and I only created it 5 seasons ago, I suppose I can do it. Do you want me to [make the Mane Attraction]?'

You say, 'What is the Mane Attraction?'

Ping Fuzzlecutter says 'The Mane Attraction is a special toupee I created for a Gnome junker. He wasn't getting much attention at the taverns till I created the eye-catching toupee. He became one charismatic Gnome after that. Unfortunately, it seems to fall to pieces too easily and since it has a warranty, I have to fix it for him every time at no charge!! I will never make another.'

You say, 'I want you to make the Mane Attraction.'

Ping Fuzzlecutter says 'If you have the original tattered toupee then I can do it. Before you give it to me I will also need three other items. I require two clumps of hair from a Hulking Gorilla and a strand of hair from a [certain mermaid].'

You say, 'What certain mermaid?'

Ping Fuzzlecutter says 'I encountered a particular mermaid with beautiful hair!! She had beautiful golden tresses. I used a lock of her hair to create the Mane Attraction. That was a while back when I was in Faydwer.'

A Hulking Gorilla may be found in the Feerrott. Clumps of Gorilla Hair also drop occasionally from A Gorilla, A Large Gorilla, and A Silverflank Guardian, also found in the Feerrott.

A Golden Haired Mermaid may be found in Kedge Keep. She drops A Lock of Hair.

Upon killing A Golden Haired Mermaid:

I bought it at the wood elf camp in LFay. Is was LORE ITEM and gold colored. Is it from fairy's body? As I know the dust from fairy is not the correct item for Rain caller.

Kinool's Faction?
# Mar 11 2001 at 10:27 PM Rating: Default
Anyone know if Kinool's faction is Merchants of Felwithe? I am apprehensive to Kinool an he won't talk to me about the quest. I can't sneak up on him to change the faction and don't want to risk turning in the stuff for the Raincaller. Anyone have any ideas?

Does anyone have an idea of the area, direction to, or loc where this fairy princess spawns? I am not very familiar with Lesser Faydark and would likely just wander for hours ;)

i think her exact loc is pos 1096 pos 3608, her PH is a fearie guard next to the metal gnome

Stupid question sorry

Here is a really stupid question sorry.

After you have all of the items who do you give them to in order to recieve the bow?

Kinool Goldsinger? Or who?

RE: Stupid question sorry
# Feb 04 2001 at 7:40 PM Rating: Default
I think so. What he says (if I remember correctly) is that he used to be able to enchant longbows, but he can't anymore because Princess Joleena won't provide fairy gold dust.

Does she drop the fairy dust you need for the Raincaller quest? Or do you have to quest for it? What is the name of the fiary dust you need for the quest? If you have an answer, please email me at snowcaster@hotmail.com
My story of this quest
# Jan 02 2001 at 2:46 PM Rating: Good
Got my guild together to delve into Kedge to get the mermaid hair. All the other pieces of the quest were easy to get solo, even the gorilla hair, just head to cazic and shout that you'd like to loot it ). Our raiding party into Kedge consisted of my 27th ranger, Athelion, and 8 of my guildmates (32 warrior Jabronee, 38 warrior Solkar, 40 warrior Crimsonfist, 44 cleric Jinoy, 41 cleric Rampunzal, 36 paladin Unclezero, 51 warrior Puvil, 37 druid Howlin). The only casualty we took was when Solkar got ahead of us and took the brunt of an attack. When we first made it to the mermaid room, just a regular mermaid was up, not the golden haired mermaid. We fought in this room for a couple of hours, pulling stuff from the 2nd level to the mermaid room to fight before the golden haired mermaid finally spawned. She was tough especially since she spawned just moments after the 2 piranah spawned. I dinged into 28th just after this and when I turned in all the pieces to the quest I received around 2 full bubbles of exp! As a side note, Princess Joleena was not up when I went to turn the wing back in. So I just camped and tried again the next morning and she was there. I understand from the bestiary that she can be a bit troublesome to catch up... Also, for the treant heart, I just filled up my inventory with small lanterns, and turned them in. In the course of turning in 27 lanterns I got 1 heart and 26 pieces of wood.

treant heart? and some spoiler info
# Dec 21 2000 at 2:01 AM Rating: Decent
OK, first my question. I have tried giving small lanterns to Jyle Windshot but out of 16 lanterns I only got Treant Wood and NO hearts. Has anyone ever gotten a heart from him????

OK, now for must have info .....

I hunted a golden hair mermaid. Her spawn time is about 20 min. A Stingtooth piranha (29-37) pops in the hall first. Then she will pop about 2 min after (or her place holder) as well as one Stiletto Piranha (Tooth 32-39 or Fang 43-46 or 47. Conned yellow to me at 45 so I know the bestiary is wrong). One will also spawn to the right of her behind a pillar and another one above her. She was rather easy to pull alone but if it was her PH then you usually got 2 or maybe 3. The other 2 in the room pop about 2 min after her.

My group consisted of a 45 Ranger (me), 44 Ranger, 45 Druid, 42 Necro, and a 45 Mage. and hunting in this area was a piece of cake. To all of those who say you need 2 groups to do this .... TOTAL BS!!! The one thing you NEED to know is that cold based spells are useless in this zone. Casters should stick to fire or poison spells. Also, invis seemed to work for moving around unless you ran into mermaids. The mermaid hair is lore no drop.

About getting the Mane Attraction .... One thing I found out was that you can turn in no drop components to Ping and have someone else turn in the remaining components. The last person to give him a needed component gets the Mane Attraction. I did it with 2 group members. I had 6 clumps of Gorilla hair and they had none. I gave him the hair and they gave him 2 hairs and one person turned in the Mermaid Hair and toupee and received the Mane attraction.

So far this quest has been MUCH easier than I was led to believe. Hope to finish it tonight :-)

If ya want a treant heart just go hang out by the treants in sk. Hearts are pretty common tere and destroyed all the time by the tree slayers who consider them junk. Take a lot of pp with u, as they almost always have a need for a banker there, though no one will charge you to loot the heart.

YOu can get the treant heart, just make sure you are giving him small lanterns. Try giving them to him in groups of 4 rather than one at a time. Also, remember that the heart is LORE, so you can't have more than one.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 24 2001 at 11:46 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I TURNED IN 20 SMALL LANTERNS AND RECIEVED 1 TREANT HEART. I THINK I GOT IT AFTER THE FIRST 8 LANTERNS. JUST KEEP TRYING.

I gave Windshot about 8-10 lanterns for wood chips when I made my Trueshot, because I was expecting not to make it so quickly. One produced a wood heart, the rest produced chips. Not sure what the odds are of getting a wood heart from him, but you will get one eventually. Small lanterns are not that expensive in the level range where pursuing this quest will be realistic (at least for most of us).
Faction Problems?
# Nov 11 2000 at 6:30 PM Rating: Default
One way may be to give her the wing and before you click 'trade' have someone invis you. If she doesnt see invis it will set her faction to Indifferent.

Works for many quests, esp Mystic Cloak for people with poor non-kos factions.

it seems that this would be a cheap way to get a 10 slot container. can only the tonics go in the box? if so this wouldnt be useful.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 13 2001 at 8:58 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I don't know. But I'm a bonehead, and would more than likely accidentally combine whatever was in it, so I don't use containers like this for backpacks. ;-)

Can the rain caller be recharged on its proc of 5 charges?
#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 12 2000 at 3:30 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I think I can speak for everyone on this topic. Please people when you know that someone has been camping for a long time, don't pester them about when they are going to leave. Don't sit down next to them to "wait" until they are done. You might be waiting a long time and then the time it takes for you to complete your camp on top of that. The NPC will always respawn and will always be there. Just ask them kindly if they will send you a tell when they are done and 9 times out of 10 they will. These players are tired from camping that long of a period and quite understandably a little grouchy and become extremely nervous at the thought of someone possibly stealing their kill. So, be courteous.

I found that the hair tonic will be used while in rout. I had 10 when i started from FP and only 9 when I got to Ak Anon, and only 8 when I returned to get another, use caution here and take an extra or 2
RE: Tonic consumption.
# Oct 12 2000 at 3:49 PM Rating: Default
Just place it below you normal food and water rations. If it's at the top of your inventory, you'll drink it first.
RE: Tonic consumption.
# Nov 07 2000 at 4:45 PM Rating: Default
It is much easier, lighter, and safer to combine the items as soon as you buy them - this will reduce the weight of the crate, and will ensure that you dont inadvertantly drink them.
RE: Tonic consumption.

Her wing
# Sep 13 2000 at 8:38 PM Rating: Default
I killed her with my dark elf, and she dropped a Farie Wing the only difference between that one and the regular wings is that wing is lore. So I said HEY!!! This must be for Raincaller quest... Then I thought I bet it wont work but I will try anyway. I gave the wing to my newbie wood elf ranger and he went in and gave her the wing AND GUESS WHAT!?!?!?!? She didn't say a word and didn't give me anything. I found out quest items drop on the npcs you are supposed to give them to but they dont work. For example I was in Shurefall Glade killing bears when I saw the guy who brags about his Crook. I figured hey, why do the quest when I can kill him and get his staff (I think he was about lvl 12) so i killed him and he dropped a WORN GREAT STAFF and a gnoll paw... Well I got my ranger in there and hailed him he also gives a quest to kill a lurking gnoll and he wants you to bring him his paw, so the paw went to my ranger who gave it to him... Guess what? That's right, nothing. Great eh?
killing the princess
# Sep 04 2000 at 9:21 AM Rating: Default
if ya want to do the rain caller quest DO NOT kill the princess. The fairy dust need is gold fairly dust. (see above) Killing her will ruin your faction, and I know of no way to improve it. Do this to many times and yer stuck.

princess fairy dust
# Aug 11 2000 at 10:41 PM Rating: Decent
Killed the princess several times, looted princess fairy dust once, don't know for sure if it's the same one she gives when asked.
RE: princess fairy dust
# Sep 17 2000 at 2:21 AM Rating: Default
No, that is no the correct dust. If you mess up your faction with the fairies, it's hard to do the quest, not impossibe. THe dust was the absolute hardest part for me, because I killed the fairies for exp at one point. If your faction sux, this is what you do: Harmony the entire area next to where the princess spawns, after she appears, use SNEAK to get in close to her, then give her the wing. Don't talk to her, just give it to her. If you are not high lvl...RUN! Also, keep the 4 fairy guards killed as much as possible, cause they will aggro on you, no matter what your lvl, and if they attack while you are giving wing, you may lose it.

Hello all!! I got a dumb question to ask.
Treand heart is the same as a wooden heart?
I got a wooden heart while killing Treants. bad idea my faction got ruined, for a while..
But is fixed now by killing gnolls and some bandits..
