Dismas Kaneriti recruited you to search for a lost adventuring party that disappeared into Mistmoore's Catacombs many years ago. It is unlikely that any of them are still living.
Search for clues indicating what become of Hilius Greenwood, the party's ranger.
Search for clues indicating what become of Ailill Nye, the party's shaman.
Search for clues indicating what become of Bartik Hertigson, the party's warrior.
Search for clues indicating what become of Keelia Fem, the part's wizard.
Search for clues indicating what become of Silia Warren, the party's rogue.
Find Dismas Kaneriti in Plane of Knowledge near the Iksar merc liaisons in the south section at -600, +304, -157.
You say, 'Hail, Dismas Kaneriti'
Dismas Kaneriti pleads, his quavering voice desperate and his gaze devoid of peace, 'You remember Mistmoore's Catacombs, damnable and ethereal. For years, my sister has sought out heroes with the fortitude to enter that place and rescue the members of a [lost party]. And for years, her cries for help have gone unheard.'
You say, 'Tell me more of this lost party. Who were they?'
Dismas Kaneriti says, 'Their names are seared into my memory: Ailill Nye, the shaman. Bartik Hertigson, a warrior. Harris Feril, their cleric. Hilus Greensword, a ranger. Keelia Fern, a wizard. And Sila Warren, a rogue. They were well-equipped and well-acquainted with the unholy horrors that inhabit Mistmoore's forsaken tombs. If some [horror has befallen them], it must have been especially insidious.'
You say, 'What horror could have befallen them? Are they still alive?'
Dismas Kaneriti trembles with terror, 'I suspect Mayong Mistmoore himself was involved in the party's disappearance. As for the likelihood of their survival, I have no illusions. It's unlikely any of them still live. Should you choose to [seek out] the members of this lost party, I insist that you bring multiple groups lest you end up lost yourselves.'
You say, 'We have the courage and the numbers necessary to seek out these lost adventurers.'
Dismas Kaneriti nods solemnly, 'When you are [ready], I will guide you to the entrance of that darkest dungeon.'
As its bones scatter across the floor you see a crumpled piece of paper fall from a hollowed out bone.
Loot Hilus's Journal from the Shambling Archer.
Blighted Spiritualist's corpse collapses to the floor. As it does, a dusty gasp of breath escapes the creature's mouth. It seems to have spoken, but if so, you could discern no words.
Loot Ailill's Phial from the Blighted Spiritualist.
Scion of Blood's corpse falls onto his back with a scream and moans. 'Perhaps this time I truly die.'
Loot Bartik's Heart from Scion of Blood.
Scion of Darkness's corpse crumples to the ground, a dark tear of blood trickling down her cheek.
Loot Keelia's Heart from Scion of Darkness.
In the northwestern sundial room, /say "Sila" near the middle of the dial. After a short delay, Forceful Presence will spawn and attack you. The Forceful Presence memblurs and ambushes targets, and at about 50% health it will summon 4x summoned souls. Loot Sila's Medallion from Forceful Presence.
The Forceful Presence shouts, 'You have weakened me, but I'm not yet spent! Come forth, servants of the darkness, and aid me in my battle!'
It spawns 4 of "A summoned soul " around the dial.
You say, 'I seek Sila.'
A chilling voice says, 'You have disturbed my rest, such as it is. I can't allow you to live. I know why you are here and I can't tolerate your presence.'
A chilling voice senses that you carry Hilus's Journal and whispers to you, 'Hilus, you live! No, this can't be. If you live, then why did you abandon me? It is so cold here, my love. I miss your warmth. I miss you. You must join me now in the darkness so that I will no longer be alone.'
A chilling voice senses that you carry Ailill's Phial and whispers to you, 'How dare you come here, Ailill?! You know that I can't stand to see any of you! You've always ignored me, preferring your spirits. Well, now I am a spirit! I shall force you from your living body!'
A chilling voice senses that you carry Bartik's Heart and whispers to you, 'Bartik. I knew that if any of us would flee to save his life it would be you. You've always been a mercenary at heart. But it ends here for you. Prepare to die, traitor.'
A chilling voice senses that you carry Keelia's Heart and whispers to you, 'Hello, Keelia. I see you yet live. You must have abandoned us all and fled. You know I can't allow you to live any longer after such a betrayal.'
Forceful Presence's corpse begins to fade and shrink. As the darkness lessens, a form can be seen emerging from inside.
--You have looted a Sila's Medallion.--
TASK LOCKS HERE
Give Sila the Hilus's Journal.
Sila Warren says, 'Thank you!' Sila's eyes shimmer with tears as she reads the words written by her tortured friend. She looks pained as she examines the material it is written on. 'I don't know what to do with this. Please, carry it for me. I don't know if I can stand to have it in my possession. The only silver lining is that he was relieved from his suffering. Please, take this medallion. It is my luck piece, blessed by the priests of Bristlebane. It may aid you. I will travel with you. My knowledge may be of use to you even if I have no fight left in my body. This is your adventure now, so I'll [follow] whichever of your group you wish.'
Sila will not follow you if you are invis.
This will update when you enter the southwest room with Harris and Mayong.
Harris Feril shouts, 'Hah! You have fared better than most, fools, but here before you stands the mightiest being on Norrath! Meet your end at the hands of Mayong Mistmoore himself!'
Lord Enghearst shouts, 'And he calls you fools! You mortals are so easily cowed and manipulated. He's absolutely correct about one thing -- you will meet your end at my hands.'
Lord Enghearst shouts, 'I am one of his eldest children, but only an idiot would think that I am Mayong Mistmoore. It amuses me to allow him to believe that I am the patriarch, though. Ha ha! And now... I shall now amuse myself with you!'
Kill the revealed Lord Enghearst.
Lord Enghearst's corpse says, 'Impossible! You've defeated me this day, but mark my words... my lord Mistmoore shall one day return to rule this world.'
Sila Warren says, 'You'd better take me with you. Harris has a lot of tricks up his sleeve, and I know these tricks well.'
Sila will prompt a conversation as you approach the final southwestern room that Harris fled to.
Sila Warren says, 'Wait! I recognize that warding. Keelia developed it for our group. It allows us to guard something so that all of us have to be there to get inside. I might know how you can [deactivate] it.'
You say, 'How can you deactivate it?'
Sila Warren says, 'Take this bag. It was made by Keelia and each of us stitched a symbol into it. Place one item from each of us into the bag and seal it up. Hilus' Journal and my medallion will work. You won't need an item from Harris, since the ward lets him pass. You'll just need something from Keelia, Bartik, and Ailill. Then take the sealed bag into the ward. That should do it!'
Say "deactivate," and she will give you a Warded Bag. In the bag, combine Hilus's Journal, Ailill's Phial, Bartik's Heart, Keelia's Heart, and Sila's Medallion to create a Sealed Warded Bag. The character with the Sealed Warded Bag should approach the room to update this step. If any other character approaches the warded entrance, they will be teleported to a random location in the dungeon.
Harris Feril says, 'So, Sila, have you finally figured it out? Prexus is a god for fish, not men! The only true power is in death and decay! Didn't you ever wonder why I never restored you to life? You always had to seek another cleric for that! I have always been a servant of Bertoxxulous. I only told you otherwise so I could use you to gain wealth and power!'
Harris Feril says, 'Those fools Bartik and Keelia... they fought the Master and he claimed their lives and bodies. I offered my services freely and retained mastery of both body and soul!'
This step updates upon killing Harris, who is guarded by 4x servant of disease.
Harris Feril's corpse says, 'Ah! I go now to serve my lord Bertoxxulous as my body becomes a testament to his power.'
Sila Warren sighs. 'I'm grateful for your help. You've freed my companions from their suffering and made that traitor Harris pay with his life. I shall return home and mourn my friends.'
You rescued Sila, killed the traitorous cleric, Harris, and discovered what happened to the adventuring party that disappeared into Mistmoore's Catacombs so many years ago. They are gone, but not forgotten.
