Prerequisite Quests: Testing the Waters, For My Information, What Makes a Scorpiki?, The Dragons' Graveyard, The Orb of Luclin, The Orb of Fire, State of the Sarnak, The Fereth, Chokidai Unbound, The Arisen, Trial of Discovery, Lay the Trap, Who is Buried in Sathir's Tomb?, Bane Bound.

Find Gelidalin Stormsinger in Skyfire Mountains in the Combine encampment in the southwest corner of the zone.

You say, 'Hail, Gelidalin Stormsinger'
Gelidalin Stormsinger says, 'Ah, wonderful. I have need of a hero. You are one of Norrath's heroes, [correct]?'

You say, 'correct'

Gelidalin Stormsinger says, 'Great! You are, I am sure, aware that there is likely to be a conflagration soon. The Combine are very angry with Talendor and his sarnak. I am certain that they will use their power, and heroes such as you, to deal a devastating blow against the Ring of Scale. Before that happens there are a few things that could be done to [help] everyone.'

You say, 'help'

Gelidalin Stormsinger says, 'Well I have discovered several routes that I can see to ensuring that not all things are [lost] after the conflict. There is at least one ancient [mystery] in that grand temple that I would hate to leave unexplored before the battles begin in earnest. I may even have discovered a way to gain a [leg up] in the coming battle. Of course I cannot do this myself, I am but a humble musician and story teller. I need the [assistance] of a hero.'

You say, 'assistance'

Gelidalin Stormsinger says, 'I don't have anything in mind for you to do at the moment.'

You have been assigned the task 'Singing Stone'.

  • 1. Find the singing stone in Veeshan's Peak and give it to Gelidalin. 0/1 Skyfire Mountians

Lava-hardened Stone is a ground spawn in the lava that looks like a rock. At zone-in room look NE between the two exits,it moves so it may not be in the same spot. Keep in mind the lava does do damage, and be invis to not aggro the basilisk. Also try Jump in the lava with no lev - while floating at the top layer of lava, scroll in to 1st person view - you can now see the ground underneath the lava without the lava interfering. Scan for stone,

Return to and Turn it in to Gelidalin.

  • 2. Find the singing stone in Veeshan's Peak. 0/1 (Veeshan's Peak)

Grey Crystal will be put on your cursor after killing basilisk or wyvern mobs and (a primeval chromatic skywing) in a specific area. (north Island surrounded by Lava room).

  • 3. Give the Singing Stone to Gelidalin. 0/1 (Skyfire Mountains)

Return to and Turn it in to Gelidalin.

  • 4. Find the Singing Stone in Veeshan's Peak and give it to Gelidalin. 0/1 (Veeshan's Peak)

This phase can take over an hour to update.. Confirmed ways to update it in less than a minute: A) Swim around SLOWLY in the lava in the NW part of bridge room, NOT Kluzen's room. When you get emotes " You hear a faint hissing sound carrying through the lava." and "The hissing seems very close now. ", stop immediately, wait and look around the lava for a rock (Hardened Stone), this is a ground spawn in the lava around where you were emoted. Keep in mind the lava does do damage. B) Cast invisibility, jump down to lava from the eastern side of the bridge. C) Jump down to lava from /loc 1890, 880.
Rogues can do this part fast solo, no killing required.

Step 2. I got the grey crystal from An Elder Flame Protector outside the room right specified, where the lava starts. The mobs there see invis so I was clearing and was surprised to find it not being quite in the room yet.

Make note that the Lava-hardened Stone can also be found on the western side of the 1st bridge by the zone-in.

Ok, maybe people may be confused as to wich "Bridge room" to go, since there are 2 of them.
It's the North West bridge room, on top / left of the map.
    Got it!

We had 3 group members swimming around in the lava for HOURS. We tried at the top of the lava, bottom, middle, every inch. Slow, fast, with pauses. with and without lev. Tried dropping people from group, readding them, none of this worked. We gave up, dropped the quest, started it over a few days later. This time 1 person in the zone in the lava pool, no one else in the zone, lev was off. I swam around a bit, paused, rinse and repeat. I did this for a while with no luck. Then I stayed at 1747, 1140, 639 (surface of the lava) looking away. After about 10-30 seconds in that spot, I got the message. I didn't touch my mouse or keyboard, and then the next message came, then the next, then the next, then it spawned.

I don't know if Lev matters. I do not believe everyone has to be in the lava. I think the mechanism is that you need to move to a new spot and then wait there for a good length of time, like 10-30 seconds before trying a new spot.

After swimming around for about 15 minutes and making myself queasy, I found a good solution to finding the Lava-hardened stone..

Adding to what others have said, do this:

    1. Pop a healer merc (lava damage is ~ 4700 per hit)
    2. Invis
    3. Go to Options -> Display -> Advanced button -> Turn OFF 2.0 shaders - this will make the lava floor gray and without textures
    4. Jump into the lava pool surrounding the entrance platform
    5. Hover at the surface of the lava, go 1st person and turn yourself to face the floor so you can avoid the lava fog
    6. From this point forward, use your strafe buttons to move around (do not go forward/backward or you lose your view) - for me it's A and D. You will be moving sideways, but it will not shift you away from your viewpoint, making this MUCH less tedious. You'll need to aim yourself so you are always facing the direction you want to look, but after a few minutes you'll get the hang of it.

For me, the stone was sticking out of a rock formation on the NW side (it's on a map).

    Good luck!

So I was swimming around for like 30 mins looking, then I came here and I turned off those 2.0 pixels and it was night and day difference and found it really fast.

I got the two emotes and then my group got involved in combat. When I went back, I could never find the stone. After an hour, I had the entire group camp. When I came back, I got the emotes a second time and found the stone right away.

Just a possible help if you're convinced the stone isn't there after the two emotes. It may only be up for a certain period (seems to have been true in my case). In any event, I got emotes a second time and found stone after camping out and camping back in.

This step was a total pain. After wading in the lava just at the ramp, we finally got the first emote. Got the second emote in the east side of the pool right near the pillar after waiting 15 minutes.

Jump in the lava with no lev - while floating at the top layer of lava, scroll in to 1st person view - you can now see the ground underneath the lava without the lava interfering. Scan for stone, if you do not see, back to 3rd person, swim down and through lava (or i guess you could lev and just run a few steps) until at a new vantage point, repeat. Eventually, you will see stone clear as day. Point yourself toward it and swim down to it slowly until it comes into view. It took me about 3 or 4 minutes to find and get the stone in this way.

I struggled with this task for 2 hours, until I found a post from someone that said to swim slowly (which is unnerving to do when you are being cooked by lava) and got it within the first pass under the bridge in the far NW corner of the zone. Got the emote (finally) and within a few seconds the rock appeared. (Which also is called a Hardened Stone, by the way) Its a large grey rock (bigger than a bowling ball) and is easy to see.

If you're having trouble getting the final step emotes, click off levitate(s) spells. We were swimming around the lava for damn near an hour and nothing. I clicked off levitate and I'd estimate about 2 minutes and got the updates and found the stone. Might just be a coincidence though.

tried twice to get this mission done. can not get the last emote and ground spawn to work. another group had similar problem. petitioned and got a response sounding like "nothing I can do about it and will forward the issue to tec crew" Thought they could update things ..they could look at the log and see we did it?

Uploaded it tonight. Yes it does look like a red crystal in the lava. I found it SW, so basically zone in, turn around and it's right below the railing in the lava.

The 2nd "singing stone" is Grey Crystal https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=132259

The 3rd "singing stone" is https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=132556

    There was 4 steps

    1. Find and turn in
    2. Find
    3. Turn in
    4. Find and turn in

It doesn't make sense, but that's how it was listed.

Step 1 requires a Lava-hardened Stone. The icon looks like a red crystal. It's in the lava near the zone-in.
