This is a 18th anniversary shared task given by Sionachie Heartsinger in Plane of Knowledge at -335, -249, -156 near the FV port stone.

You say, 'Hail, Sionachie Heartsinger'

Sionachie Heartsinger says, 'Hello, _______. Do you have a moment to entertain a [request:What request?] from Firiona Vie?'

You say, 'What request?'

Sionachie Heartsinger says, 'Our sources indicate that Lanys T`Vyl's lieutenants are moving to infiltrate the Shade King's throne while the Wraithguard are distracted by the winter feasts in Valdeholm. It is of the utmost importance that we [stop:How do we stop them?] them.'

You say, 'How do we stop them?'

Sionachie Heartsinger says, 'We believe they are going after the Crown of the Shade King himself, as Lanys has expressed a desire to [acquire:Perhaps we should acquire it first.] it. It could be used to raise a terrible army, and must not be allowed to fall into her hands!'

You say, 'Perhaps we should acquire it first.'

Sionachie Heartsinger says, 'Your help is much appreciated, _________. We knew you were the right Gnome for the job. Now you must delve deep into Frostcrypt and do battle with the Shade King in his frozen throne. Bring the Crown to us for safe keeping so that such terrible power may never fall into the wrong hands. I will arrange transportation when you're [ready:I am ready to travel to Frostcrypt.].'

You have been assigned the task 'Delving into Frostcrypt'.

You have entered Frostcrypt, Throne of the Shade King.

  • Kill the fallen Krithgor Warriors 0/10 Frostcrypt, Throne of the Shade King.

  • Find the Crown of the Shade King. 0/1 Frostcrypt, Throne of the Shade King.

To get to Beltron the Shade King, you will need to go through the maze. In order to do this you will need a Shattering Sunderer which drops reportedly off Frostbite. Then use this clicky item in the room with the torches and the center area opens to let you past.

King will be in the center maze room, he will warp to a random corner 4 times before you can actually kill him.

Each time Beltron goes non-agro and warps away, he causes a number of roamer a shade of zek to spawn in the maze:

Beltron, the Shade King shouts, 'Guards! Come deal with these pests!'

These new spawns are not auto-agro, they just make traversing the maze more and more treacherous as they accumulate every time Beltron warps to a new location. Its very easy to get overrun by mobs in the maze (many see through IVU). Ended up fighting more than a few mobs simultaneously, more than a few times. Easymode solution to this is simply to not pursue Beltron through the maze; don't track him down and don't fight him at his new location. Instead, simply remain in the center room where you first encountered him. Once he regens back to 100% he will path back to his spawn point. You can beat him down 4x right on his spawn point. No need to trek the maze over and over and kill piles of extra mobs.

To get the bonus item, simply kill all three named mobs before you engage Beltron:
Frostbite (spectre) drops Shattering Sunderer needed to unlock the maze, so that mob is a required kill.
Spite-clad Poltergeist (sentient armor) drops Agonizing War Helm, which has a right-click effect of some sort of damage shield (I didn't utilize it).
Morlon the Tainted (vampire) drops Necronominon, which has a right-click effect of summoning some sort of aides in battle (I didn't utilize it).

The Darkened Corrupted Orbs of Living Ice appear on Beltron's corpse (one per player) along with the Crown to update the task.

    10 Commemorative Coins

    Very easy for a group (3 level 110 players & 3 mercs).

Got all 3 items from the minibosses. However I, who had looted the items, died and they poofed. We each still got a Darkened Corrupted Orb of Living Ice (x3) for everyone in the task though . There were also 3 Crown of the Shade Kings on the body. I don't know why there was a need for more than 1, since looting 1 Crown finished up the task normally.

We killed Beltron in a spot where adds just kept spawning after he was dead, trying to overrun us. Loot the Crown to stop the adds from spawning and end the task.

PS: Just remember this version of Beltron is found where Grenrik the Addled would normally spawn in the non-instanced version of Frostcrypt, around /waypoint 1965, -25, -263.59

Also, I had put a campfire down near the middle of the zone, however when we tried to port to it, after our small wipe, it ported us to the zone-in of the instance; not to our fire.

You can invis v undead through just about everything except the big Ice golems; they see thru both types of invis. So just run through and kill those if you're trying to speed things up.

    Hope this helps someone!

    I ran this with:

115 Tank, 115 Druid, 100 Enchanter and their 3 mercs

    Quick Notes:
    • Mobs do Summon
    • Nothing aggroed nor added Frostbyte, that drops a book that has 3 charges and summons a helpful mob
    • Nothing aggroed nor added the spite-clad poltergeist, who dropped the helmet, that has 3 charges and covers you in spikes
    • After dropping the king 25% he did warp away and summon (at least 8 mobs)
    • By time I found him again he was at 100%. Dropped him to 75% and he warped but no mobs
    • Found him again at 100%, dropped him to 50% and he summoned 3 adds (thats ALL)
    • Again found him at 100%, dropped him to 25% and he warped but no mobs

Directionally you will go left, down, center (frost byte), back up and to the right, kill the spite clad, go back down to the room just before where you killed frost byte), go into the little room (north), where the statue is to click the book. Then click the torches to open it. Just go straight after that. To get to the center the fake wall is on your right. The fake wall into the actual center is the north well so you have to go all the way north/east to circle back to the north/central/west then go south, and then into the center

    1) Zoned in and grabbed the first 10 giants that met the criteria
*** All were undead and could be slowed by paladin slow, which was nice

NOTE: As long as the mobs were not behind you, I took little damage, but at full 2.5 COV Player Made, Max AA, Paladin, fully buffed, if they were behind me they smashed on me, even if just 3.

    2) I killed Frostbyte, whom summoned me too him, but nothing helped him at all.
*** At this point I realized the undead couldn't see through IVU

However, after killing Frostbyte, just before I got to the last steps to go down to the King, there were a couple of Golems that both say undead and regular invis. But only that that one spot, everything else did not see me.

    3) I tried to go to the center to kill the King. When I first got there, I had no idea which wall was "False", It ended up being the north most well (directly in the center north wall), but he aggroed me through the walls. He warped through and we quickly got him down to 75% and he called, what I swear was a lot more than 8, it could have just been since we only cleared a couple mobs, others pathed in, but it was a close fight because several were behind me. Luckily, even with summons, I slowed got them all in front of me and that was the end of that

    4) In my quick summary I explain that he both warped every 25% of life, but that at 75 and 50 he summoned 8,3 mobs. At 25 he merely warped but each time he climbed back to 100% except from 25%, because i found him fast enough he only got back to 28%

As the tank, I left my 2 toons and their mercs in the center and just ran around and found him myself, and soloed him with my wizzie merc. Since he only popped 3 after 50%, he was easy. If I had gotten all 8+ by myself... no way I would have lived. I don't thnk.

Never used the helmet or the book, and should have on my first fight.

    Achievement Issue: Resolved

I realized that once again I did not get the achievement for this, specifically the Bonus achievement. I did receive the orb but not the achievement. I tried handing it to pets and other NPCs and then having them say I don't need this and hand it back, but that did work.

WHAT DID WORK, was trying to hand it to the banker. No window even opened it, he rejected it outright, however I immediately got the achievement.

So if you don't get the bonus achievement, instead of petitioning, try the above, it should work for you too.

Sadly, I didn't realize this until after I had succored to save my merc and then couldn't find the Armor.
I made sure not to succor after that to keep the book, even though I didn't even end up using the clickies for the final fight.

Fortunately, I still got the bonus item at the end so it doesn't look like that reward is actually tied to the NO ZONE clicky items themselves. Just kill the 3 named, then Beltron, and enjoy!

    For final boss:
As others have stated, this is way easier if you just sit in the center of the maze and wait for Beltron to path back. The walls in the maze shift over time, so don't get too far away from your companions. The shifting walls were marked on my map and appear a slightly lighter color than the other walls. Don't stand too close to these walls, even when they are closed, as I had an add warp through the wall and into the center area. It was unclear whether I was just too close to the wall, or if a new spawn pathed through the room, but it only happened once during the fight.

Looted Shattering Sunderer off Frostbite, and when in the small the room with torches I clicked it but nothing seemed to happen. I clicked on the torches and it opened up, but the first door in the maze won't open. Am I suppose to click the torches and go thru and then click Shattering Sunderer once I am in the maze? Not sure what I did wrong.

If you decide to just wait for him to path back to room make sure you
    1. do all 10 warrior kills first. You dont want to be trying to find more warriors and fighting the multiple shade adds
    2. stay inside his center room. The maze can change leaving you outside and having to find your way back in

Completed this mission today with my wife and her brother. Here are some of my observations:
Group make up: all 105 - SK, Wizard (boxed), Ranger, Shaman (boxed), Monk and healer merc.
Tanalos' post has some good info. However with Frostbite, we cleared the room (with monk pulling of course), pulled Frostbite and just tanked him. Nothing special.
Followed the rest of Tanalos' post and all had gone as expected. Just a side note: there is a lot of trash to clear so be ready to put some time into this.
Once you cleared to the statue, click the Shattering Sunderer you looted from Frostbite and then click on the 3 torches on the wall to open the path to the maze.
Clear trash in the maze, move through the false wall to the center of the maze where Beltron is located. Here we decided to aggro Beltron and stay in the center of the maze like Gidono mentioned.
Beltron stops attacking at 75%, ports to a corner of the maze and spawns 7 mobs that roam the maze. A few roamed by the center room which we pulled. A few the monk and to go find and bring back to us. It seemed that Beltron did attempted to path back to the center room but sometimes he would get hung up on some of the maze walls. If you do not reaggro him right away he regens health. Not a problem however, once we pulled him back to his room for the 2nd engagement, he did not warp at 75% and spawn new adds.
He did this at 50% as scripted. He warped out at 50% and spawned 8 mobs this time. Killed the roamers, (had to pull some) but all the time we stayed in the center room. Found him in the maze and pulled him back to the center room.
DPSed him down to 25% this time and he warped again (note this time he did not warp at 75% or at 50% as he had already warped at those points). He again spawn 8 mobs in the maze. (There was 10 mobs in the maze for us as we had not killed all the mobs he spawned the previous time). Rinse and repeat. This time we found him actually pathing back to the center room. This time he went from 100% to 0% with no warping or spawning adds.
Make sure everyone in the group is alive and present before looting. He dropped bonus ranged item for each toon and a helm for each toon to complete the quest (eventhough only 1 is needed for competion as it is a group mission).
    Hope this helps

    1. Get the Mission
    2. Throw down a campfire at zone in, you're gonna be here a while
    3. Head down left path like you're headed past 3 brothers to Hearol Event.
    - Frostbite is in this room
    - Send in a toon that can get mez'd
    - Range him to avoid the adds
    - Loot Shattering Sunderer (you'll need this later)
    4. Move back up towards Shadowed Selves event to kill vampire
    - Clear around the area, take a minute outside to ensure you've killed random pathing toons
    - Pull the giant off the table in the room to bring your fight down to vampy and a couple others
    - Kill and loot book. FYI if you die the book disappears
    5. Move down to Lorekeeper Grenwald's Room to fight the animated armor dude
    - Clear the mob around first
    - Think he drained my endurance
    - Loot helmet
    6. Move to the throne outside the maze and click the Shattering Sunderer
    7. Clear in, dps down Beltron and watch him warp
    - He kicks out more adds into the zone and some do see through ivu
    - Find him, rinse and repeat
    - Do the same 2 more times
IMPORTANT NOTE!!!!! Do not loot a helm until everyone is back in zone
I'm running it again and again for people because it will only give you an amount of orbs = to the number alive in zone at the time a helm is looted.
They hit pretty damn hard in this mission and the pathing is painful....have fun.

Easy mode doesn't work. Tried this tonite. He never warped back to his room. Make sure you kill mobs as you go so that you don't get overwhelmed. They aren't too hard, just can be a lot at once.

Great info, updated quest with your info. I'm wondering if you have to /say the phrase "Klaatu Varada Nikto" in order to use the Necronominon.

About your backend.exe crashing, what OS are you running and which version of Winpcap do you have installed?

Did this today. Killed the 3 named, none of them dropped the item needed to get into the maze room. Still bugged? If it's not bugged, that's a lot of work for something that's needed, that May or May Not drop to complete the mission.

first mob I met killed me. it hit for 34k. so much for soloing.

2nd try. got pretty far. killed a bunch of mobs including 3 mini named. Spite-clad Poltergeist, Morlon the Tainted and Frostbite. but no key dropped. nothing at all dropped. we could not figure out how to open up the maze area. We only had an hour to toy with the task. so we quit out. someone else will have to post how to do it.

*EDIT: According to various people in general chat despite being able to zone in now the quest is still very much broken. The named aren't dropping their associated items and therefore can't enter the maze.
