Tipsy Teena says, 'Greetings, Gnome! It looks like you're here for the naked newbie gnome race to celebrate EverQuest's anniversary. Keep an eye out for broadcasts indicating when the race will begin. When we get close to starting, stay close to me inside Ak'Anon near the exit to the Steamfont Mountains and wait for the signal.'

This is an anniversary event that runs for 6 weeks, and the race is held 4 times per day. Race times are as follows, and are always based on Pacific timezone...
Sunday: 3 AM, 9 AM, 3 PM, 9 PM
Monday: 3 AM, 9 AM, 3 PM, 9 PM
Tuesday: 12 AM, 6 AM, 12 PM, 6 PM
Wednesday: 3 AM, 9 AM, 3 PM, 9 PM
Thursday: 12 AM, 6 AM, 12 PM, 6 PM
Friday: 3 AM, 9 AM, 3 PM, 9 PM
Saturday: 12 AM, 6 AM, 12 PM, 6 PM

To participate in the race, your character must be a level 1 gnome. You find Tipsy Teena in Ak'Anon, near the Steamfont Mountains zoneline. Hail her after the race has begun to become a participant. Hailing Teena causes your character to become flagged for PvP so that you cannot be buffed by other players, will also make you drunk, removes any movement speed enhancing buffs you may have, and binds your soul to the area. You will race across several zones to find where Tipsy Teena is located in each one. When you find and hail Teena, she will fling you towards the next zone where you will need to find her. Tipsy Teena is available in the Find list of any zone she is in.

The zones where the race is held always follows a specific order, but the location where you need to find Teena will change with each version of the race. If you die during the race, you will respawn at the most recent Tipsy Teena you hailed. The final hail to finish the race is done at Dibster `Dibs` Biroboddle.

SYSTEMWIDE_MESSAGE:The tipsy gnome race is beginning in 15 minutes! Please join us by creating a new level 1 gnome and meet up with Tipsy Teena in Ak`Anon, near the exit to Steamfont Mountains.
SYSTEMWIDE_MESSAGE:The tipsy gnome race is beginning in 5 minutes! Please join us by creating a new level 1 gnome and meet up with Tipsy Teena in Ak`Anon, near the exit to Steamfont Mountains.

Tipsy Teena says, 'Stumble towards the Estate of Unrest. When you get there, approach the courtyard. You will find me at the courtyard entrance. Speak to me there, and I will provide your next instructions.'

Tipsy Teena says, 'This is your final task. Make it to the basement of the Estate of Unrest, and speak to Dibs 'Dibster' Biroboddle before the undead horrors take you, if you can!'

You are one of the first of my brethren to reach me, so allow me to offer you your choice of any one piece of Tipsy Gnomework Hero's Forge. Congratulations! In addition, everyone who completes the race gets a commemorative one-size-fits-all cloth shirt. Wear it with pride, as just having one on is quite an achievement. Hope to see you in the race again next time!'

All participants that complete the race get a Tipsy Gnome Gnome Race Cloth Shirt, which will grant you the 17th Anniversary Event achievement upon equipping. You have one hour to complete the race from start time to finish.
SYSTEMWIDE_MESSAGE:The tipsy gnome race is over. If you missed this one, we hope you'll join us next time!

You can only participate once per character per race. Attempting to run the same race again with the same character results in:
Tipsy Teena says, 'Well, well, well! It looks like you've already completed this particular race. Or... something has gone terribly wrong with my steam-activated version tracker. In either case, please wait until the next race or begin again in Ak'Anon by re-entering with a fresh contestant!'

Attempts to skip directly to the end of the race at Dibster or hailing the wrong version of Teena results in a banishment to the last completed checkpoint or the starting line of the race:
Looks like you've skipped ahead. Tsk tsk. Back you go!

Turns out you CANNOT BE GROUPED to request the task! -- If you are grouped only the first person in the group will receive the task and the others will be blocked from obtaining it and receive the message that it looks like you have done this before blah blah blah, even if you have not.

"It will be more than an hour before we start again. I recommend getting a pint or five and come back in a bit."...

So I ran it and lost because I died? WTH didn't they tell me so I didn't waste my time.

No, it was not cause you died. If you die then you are just sent to your last hail spot and can continue from there.

You failed because you went over the time limit. One hour from the top of the hour, not from when you start

That seems to be what went wrong. I camped Tipsy Teena and got the countdown to start and managed to run it twice. Thanks.

If you're trying to run the race with the same gnome character that you used in prior years and never deleted, and Teena gives you the error "you've already completed this particular race", this is caused by an internal wrap-around version number bug. You can work around the problem by making a new gnome.

This can be updated. Read tip #1
Plan ahead and this will be a cake walk. Actually running naked is optional.

01. You can use the same gnome multiple times if you don't choose your reward and/or put on the shirt. You can save up to 10 tasks rewards for use when you want too. After hailing Dibbs, die to a mob. You will be ported back to Akanon by Tipsy if you click revive. Just log out till next race.
02. You can twink you your gnome as much as you want. Electrum Trio with Pearl/Opal/Square Taaffeite ad 5ac/80 each piece. Worked Dragonhide BP and other items really help! A backpack with stat food is good. SoW potions get debuffed when hailing but you can immediately put back on OR use Fabled Jorurneyman's boots if you get them. Avoid no-drop gear that requires lots of tyme to farm. "Lots of tyme" is up to you. I got the boots.
03. Hotbuttons with /tar Tipsy and /tar Dibb "/hail" make it easy to avoid mobs if you just mash the button while running directly towards them. If you don't know how to make hotbuttons, learn. Because it is a Lifesaver and tyme saver
04. Have a friend clear a path once you are at Unrest, it really helps. But if your twinked out, you won't need to.
05. If running more than 1, have a /fol button set up so you can use that to immediately get runnin. If you get attacked, sometimes its just better to die and restart that portion then trying to out run the mob as they will attack/stun you multiple tymes.
06. Mounts can be used and if you got one of the good heirloom ones, they really speed things up.
07. Sometimes you get thrown and bounce...then die. More hp really helps. Skills are worthless.

If you liked my post and it helped, vote me up please. ^^

Isn't the Clockwork Plate from Marketplace, and not this quest? Anyone verify?

Correct. Clockwork ornament sets are only available from the Marketplace. I've removed them as rewards (and also updated the quest).

So, after you complete this quest once to get your first piece of Clockwork gear, it seems like you have to walk aaaall the way back to Ak`Anon to start it all over. Or am I missing something? I've tried dying, but once you start the Estate of Unrest portion, you get bound in Unrest. The best solution I can find is to log out for X minutes and then click the "Return Home" button.

Does anyone know a better solution?

I just stay by the last hail - Dibster - till a mob repops and kills me which sends me back to Teena at the entrance to Unrest and when hailing her she sends me back to Ak'Anon. I camp there. When its announced again I log in and hail and am on my way. If I claim any of the reward armor it seems to break it and she just repeats I have already done it and won't allow me to do it again. So at that point I just make a new gnome.

It looks like the pieces are tradeable so perhaps you can put them in the shared bank and create a new gnome?

If you are making a gnome to enter the race, you can skip the tutorial by making sure the Tutorial button is not selected before clicking on enter world.
Rules for creating your gnome for the race?

1. Are there any time restrictions on when your gnome is created? ie: can any level 1 gnome be used or does it have to be created the day of the race?
2. I made a gnome and put Ak'Anon as my start point but still got pushed into the tutorial. Is this avoidable or do I have to start the tutorial and get out and over to Ak'Anon before I level?
3. Are the competitors restricted to only having the items they start with as new made gnomes: @ the start of the race?; during the race?; @ the end of the race?
4. If the gnome is allowed to be made ahead of time, is skill training permitted as long as level 1 is not exceeded?

I'm sure there are more questions to ask, but I'm decaffeinated at the moment.

Thanks, Ewor.

1. No time restrictions that I found. I created one the day of the race when the announcement was made (very stressful trying to get out of tutorial in time ) and then made a second one ahead of time but then found they are reusable. Noticed a lot of the same gnomes camping in and out over the days it is running. So once your out of tutorial you may want to consider that option.

2. To get out of tutorial fast just go to Arias and say "ready to leave" or "I am ready to leave" - I forget which - and that will port you to pok.

3. No restrictions on buff or armor or weapons.

4. have not used my gnome for anything but the race but I don't see why not.

Consider this: your little gnome will be drunk, stinking drunk and it slowly wears off as the further you get in the race. There is no way to get your alcohol tolerance high enough as the drunken buff is cast on you at each check in point and is not affected by skill ups in drinking. You cannot remove this buff either. Just makes you walk funny really.

The gnome races ran from March 16th to May 10th this year so the race won't be available until next anniversary.
