When you kill the Orc Taskmaster, he occasionally drops a Brass Earring. Give it to any female High Elf Slave.

an elven slave says 'You killed the taskmaster?! Absolutely amazing! The orcs will be fighting among themselves for power now and I can disappear in the commotion. Thanks, friend! Take this for your deeds!'

You receive a Torn Drawing. It reads:

Mistress Niola - My research is close to, if not completely, finished. Our suspicions may not have been as well founded as thought. I will be back within our halls soon.

Take this Torn Drawing to Niola Impholder in the Magicians Guild in Southern Felwithe.

Niola Impholder says 'What? Not as supposed? What can he... Well, that's all well and good. You, I assume, wish a reward for your 'valiant work'? Well, here you go, adventurer.'
You gain experience!

The Orc Taskmaster spawned at loc 245, -152, roughly between the two slavers that spawn near the slave pits. His placeholder would be either an Orc Centurion or Legionnaire. I camped him for over 2 hours, saw him twice, and he didn't drop the earring either time.

I decided to try my luck with Basher Nanrum's quest in Grobb, which sometimes gives the same brass earring as a reward. I used Illusion: Troll, but this could also be done using another character's help if needed. I gave Nanrum 30 fire beetle eyes, and received 8 hematites, a Chunk of Metal Ore...and a Brass Earring! I returned to Crushbone, found a female High Elven slave, donned Illusion: High Elf so my faction with her was Amiable (just to make sure I wouldn't have to find another brass earring), and handed the brass earring to her. Her response:

an elven slave says 'You killed the taskmaster?! Absolutely amazing! The orcs will be fighting among themselves for power now and I can disappear in the commotion. Thanks, friend! Take this for your deeds!'

You say 'Correction: I killed the taskmaster twice.' (Just kidding.) There were no faction modifications upon turn-in. She gave me a note called Torn Drawing, which reads:

Quote:
Mistress Niola - My research is close to, if not completely, finished. Our suspicions may not have been as well founded as thought. I will be back within our halls soon.

When I handed the note to Niola Impholder in Southern Felwithe (which appears to be north of Northern Felwithe, by the way):

Niola Impholder says 'What? Not as supposed? What can he... Well, that's all well and good. You, I assume, wish a reward for your 'valiant work'? Well, here you go, adventurer.'
You gain experience!

She gave me a Gossamer Robe. Again, there were no faction modifications.

Questions: Does anyone know how this quest is supposed to start, or if there's some dialog that leads into it? I only know about it because I read about it here on Allakhazam. Also, what 'research' and 'suspicions' are these High Elves referring to?

i have tried it with a high elf enchanter, and a half elf bard.

She was labeled an Elven Slave, but was in a blue dress. Not labeled a high elf slave.

Thanks

Some of the races don't have robe skins or animations created. They look like they're naked even when wearing robes. Ask any 'Chanter!

magicians guild, which is in south felwithe (which is actually to the north of north felwithe i believe)
so you go into felwithe, and go generally straight and to the left, and eventually you'll get to south felwithe
or you look it up in the eqatlas

OK... This is what you do. (for the "Glossamer Robe Quest")Give the "BRASS EARING" (not the brass ring) to a "HIGH ELF FEMALE" (has to be famale & HIGHELF NOT WOODELF OR DWAWRF. HIGHELF!!)then take the leter ypu get from her to "Niloia" in the "MAGEGUILD" (located in south felewithe) (the south felewithe enterance is located just past the fishing places) Take her the note and she will give you the "Glossamer Robe" well thats all ya do for that.

Taskmaster

Ok as i am typing i just now did this quest...3 times! MANY things that have been said about this quest are false.
First, i killed taskmaster about 3 times in 1 and a half hours of playing. He does not spawn once every hour like so many messages say! Secondly, all three times he dropped the brass earring. It is NOT a rare drop. Also, he once had 2 whips, not just one. Kinda weird.
Anyway, I got the Gossamer robe. Gonna give it to lvl 6 enchanter friend.

P.s. I am lvl 18 and the taskmaster conned blue to me. He was an easy fight, but i probably could not have done it without pet.

ROBES
# Jan 09 2002 at 1:25 AM Rating: Default
I have a couple subjects to touch on:

First, I know a lady enchanter that would very much like the gossimer robe (she has sr ap robe now) mostly because it is white hehe. Anyway, i would like to get it for her. It is not going to be a matter of whether i can kill taskmaster or not. I am just now sure where he spawns. I KNOW it is near the slaver pits, but where exactly? I have spent many hours in crushbone and NEVER seen him.

Second, I am a lvl 18 mage looking for a robe that is worth maybe, 100-200pp. Whether it is for sale or for a quest, I would like some suggestions. And i prefer nothing painfully generic such as the flowing black robe, though that IS a goof robe. I appreciate anyone reading this and willing to respond soon! Thanks.

High elf female
# Nov 17 2001 at 5:32 AM Rating: Decent
I have been in Crushbone a long time! I only saw a female elf (never high elf) at the slavers cabins. But after I camped Mr. Taskmaster and got the earrings from him I took a deeper look in the hole Retlon Brenclog (?) lives in and there was a slave. An elvish slave with blue dress!
Gave her the earrings and she gave me the note!
Now I have a nice white Gossimer Robe!
When you have a group of 2-3 peeps at lvl 10 you can do this quest, its also good exp. And you're relatively secure camping the pits...
HIGH Elf

If you give the earring to a female wood elf you get a note. However its not the right one. If you give that note to Niola she just says "I'm not sure what to do with this, but thanks" and you get nothing. Not to mention that you lose your +2ac earring. Be sure to give it to the right elf.

Any Elf Female?
# Sep 11 2001 at 3:49 AM Rating: Default
Thats the first I've heard of that. As far as I know you've got to free slaves to get the High Elf Female to spawn. Makes sence seing as you've got to go to the mages guild in Felwithe. Note: I havent managed to find her yet, so I could be wrong. I wouldnt try giveing it to any elf female unless you have two Task master 'brass ear ring' items.
Just wear the earing
# Aug 26 2001 at 10:39 PM Rating: Default
For Lowbies and newbies the earing gives you 2AC which is far better than a +2str bonus or coin. If you get more than two, start turning them in for items.
Different Quest
# Aug 23 2001 at 2:05 PM Rating: Default
In this quest you give the earring to the Female High Elf Slave. That is all you do with her. She spawns at any slave spot at random (as all slaves do). You do not need to free her. Just find the female high elf slave and give her the earring. Freeing slaves is a different little quest, you can free her AFTER you give her the earring if you wish but it is not required. If you free a slave they vanish instantly so do NOT free the female high elf if you want to give her the earring. You MAY free the other slaves to cause a female high elf slave to spawn if there isn't one already present.
Faction
# Aug 08 2001 at 7:31 PM Rating: Default
I was Apprehensive to the High Elf Slave when I gave her my Brass Earring and still got "a torn drawing" and exp. I went to Felwithe but could not find the Magician's guild. Do you need any special faction in Felwithe to get the robe? If so, how can I raise my Felwithe faction?

P.S. When I gave her my Earring a male High Elf took her place, so it's random where she could be.

it's tricky to find that guild.. I'm not sure but I think it's the thing you get into by clicking on what looks like an ornamental wall or big insignia as you enter the town and approach the big steps that lead down to the water. I found this accidentally once, and I don't know if it's the mage guild or not for sure. Give it a try.

The Mage guild is in southern Felwithe, Head south until you hit the water, then go east through the passage. You'll now be in southern felwithe. Go up the ramp to the floating building, up the stairs and step on to the teleport with the hand cupping a ball of fire. This will place you outside the Mage's guild.
Spawn Spot
# May 14 2001 at 2:04 PM Rating: Decent
Go to the slave pits. To the right of the campfire as you approch from the entrance and between the two slave pits there is a niche right next to the hole that Renlon Brenclog(sp?)lives in. If you wait in this spot with your back up against the wall and facing the castle the taskmaster or one of his placeholders (always a lego or slaver) will spawn directly in front of you. Ignore every other orc except those that spawn in that spot, they don't count. I killed six taskmasters before I got the brass earring. The high elf slave girl wears the newbie blue dress and could be anywhere in the zone. She was not spawned when I first got the ring but I came back later and she was beating on somebody at the zone entrance! Good thing she won (for me anyway). I followed her back to the slave caves until she stopped and took up her position. I gave her the brass earring and received right away an incomplete drawing. No need to free her or give her a copper. She was immediatly replaced by a dwarf slave. I would not recommend freeing the elf girl before you give her the earring. I freed a dwarf slave earlier trying to get the hi-elf girl to spawn. As soon as I gave the correct shackle key to the dwarf she disappeared and was replaced by another slave. Oh and don't poke Renlon Brenclog if you get bored waiting for the taskmaster. He was high Blue to me and I'm a level 16 mage. If his fire pet doesn't kill you, then he probably will. The only time he came out of his hole was when somebody foolishly picked a fight with him (not me I just watched them die).
I turned the incomplete drawing into Niola at the Mage guild in South Felwithe(in a room at the back)and got a shiny new white gossimer robe. May 12 2001.
Brass Ring
# May 03 2001 at 3:42 PM Rating: Default
Before giving her the brass earring, give her 1 copper piece and she will tell you which shackle key she needs. Find that shackle key and give it to her. Then give her the brass earring. I have not done this quest, but that is what I have been told.

In my experience, I have noticed that if you give one of the slaves anything other than the shackle key they need, they will say "I do not need that. I need shackle key number ?". After giving them the shackle key, they will probably be a bit more cooperative. I hope this helps someone.

In actuallity, the slaves promtply disappear after you give them the shackle key and are replaced shortly thereafter by another slave not neccessarily of the same race or gender. If you wish to do this quest, give the slave the earring BEFORE you give her the shackle key. I don't know if the slave poofs when you give her the earring, since this is the first time I have ever heard of this quest.

I am going to try it out and post back with information regarding my results as soon as I can.

High Elven Slave Girl

Ok, Ive run around Crushbone more hours then I care to remember looking for the darn High Elven Slave girl. How does one find this elusive creature. I dont want to start killing the slaves that are there so am I just stuck finding her at a one in a billion chance??

don't kill them, you free them with the keys. give them a copper and they tell you what key they need. Kill the slavers and get the key.. give them the key and you get money, exp, faction and the slave disappears. Another slave takes its place, so keep doing that till the high elf spawns.

# Oct 26 2001 at 2:54 AM Rating: Decent
I got lucky.
Straight after I got the brass earing off the taskmaster I gave a key 18 to a elf male slave (right most in pit looking away from taskmaster wall). The High elf female slave pop'ed in its place.
I tried for more brass earings (for the AC) and only got whips.

I was in Crushbone for about 5 hours today, the first 30 minutes i spent just looking for her. Then i joined a tower group and beat up Dvinn and his gang for a while, occasionally going out to look for her. The one time i did find her, she was in the slave caves. But i do remember seeing her outside the slave caves near the lego camp. I think she doesnt spawn often, and once you give her the earring, she disappears again. Hope that helps.
Brass Ring

Must be broken. I gave the Taskmaster's Brass Ring to a Female High Elf slave. All she said was that she didn't want/need that. I got nothing.

# Mar 09 2001 at 4:11 AM Rating: Default
Brass Ring or a Brass Earring?
RE: Brass Ring
# Aug 07 2001 at 5:49 PM Rating: Default
It can be any femal elf, doesn't need to be a high elf, and also you need the taskmasters brass earring.. You don't need to give her anything first, just give her the earring and you will get a note.
