Xlixinar Arcut says 'The monk is the master of focus, the shaman of sacrifice and the shadowknight of righteousness. Lastly, our brothers of the dark know confidence. It is then our duty to know perseverance more than any other. When others fall from spear and sword, we must stand. When others are washed away by fire and ice, we must stand. When others are frustrated and confused, we must continue on. There is a warrior in the swamp near the city. He is an exile, like my brother and I. He knows more about

Grik the Exile snickers to himself and looks out over the swamp for a moment before saying, 'Perseverance is indeed our greatest virtue. Perhaps if we as warriors looked more to cultivate our virtue rather than to hoard glory our people would be rulers of this entire land. I will send you on a [mission] to learn of perseverance.
If you complete it I will give you my reference.'

You say, 'what mission'

Grik the Exile says 'If you have not noticed the new intelligent races that have found it's way to our land, you will see soon. They have built a small outpost far to the south along the ocean. If they go unchecked, their outpost will become a city from which they will cause us much discomfort. They are strong and have experienced [mercenaries] in their employ.

You say, 'what mercenaries'

Grik the Exile says 'Yes. In particular, a company of mercenaries commanded by a human known as Streaven. He has personally thwarted an operation I was in charge of. I will make him pay for his interference. You will kill Streaven. But first you must [draw him out], as he is not a fool.

You say, 'how do I draw him out'

Grik the Exile says 'While Streaven is not foolish he has made a mistake. He's taken a young and ambitious noble on as an officer in his company. This noble represents a source of funds and as such Streaven most likely will come to his aid if endangered. Our spies have reported that he has been implanted with some sort of device that will alert the commander of any danger. You must retrieve this [implant].

You say, 'what implant'

Grik the Exile says 'The implant is buried deep within this noble's head. Retrieving it will most likely leave quite a traumatic wound. Once you have the implant you must take it to an agent that will be in the area. This agent is one of the Kotiz Brood, a necromancer. Her name is Vekis and she will be able to activate the implant and draw Streaven out. She will only appear after you have dispatched the noble and she will go back into hiding shortly there after, so you must [find her] quickly.

You say, 'where do I find her'

Grik the Exile says 'She will be near one of our ancient statues along the coast. You need only hand her the implant for her to activate it. Once he is away from the guards you will have your chance. Bring me Streaven's Head and 3 rubies and you will have your reference for the Arcut. Remember that your perseverance is your greatest virtue and will carry you to victory always.

I confirmed today that Both Sergeant and Commander Path from the Statue out on the bridge to where the party of mercenaries stands. This is during PoP era and the Outpost is still held by Forces of Good.

Alright, so Sergeant Daelione spawns in front of the room with Lieutenant Derakor. His pathing doesn't seem to be working, because he literally just stands there for about 20m before despawning. His respawn time is 2H, pretty much on the nose.
With some clever tactics, a necro friend and I were able to kill him and loot the implant (though I died during the process, because Derakor assists him and he's level 61)
Vekis spawned just fine by the statue, handed her the implant, ran back to where Daelione spawned and...Streaven was there. Except also not pathing. He had a Barbarian in chainmail that DID path, and his name was Frode and he's not on this wiki, or even the p99 wiki. Not sure where he fits into this, but anyways.
So we attempted the same strat as Daelione, but without Harm Touch, and I died. However, my friend did not, and after the DoTs wore off and Derakor had completely healed him (that absolute monster), Streaven went off along his path as intended, and my friend was able to kill him safely outside the front gates.
Looted the head, off to finish this quest (which no one else has bothered doing just about ever, I think)

Does this quest exist on TLP servers? I'm on Mischief and rolled an Iksar Warrior when Kunark dropped, and am looking forward to doing these armour quests.

But on Live, with the Evils taking over FV, this quest was broken and I don't think was ever fixed, and I'm worried that might carry over to TLPs

This looks to be a LoY quest based off when the quest reward item was added to our item tables. I have changed the expansion for this quest, the reward and the quest item associated with it. I'm changing the expansion for the quest giver and going through all his quests as well.

That doesn't make any sense.

Dreadscale, Trooper Scale and Scaled Mystic all existed pre-Ykesha.

All newbie armor quests were moved to PoP/LoY on progression servers.

Those armour sets are directly equivalent to Crafted, Darkforge, Totemic etc.
They aren't the "newbie" armour sets. They're the classic mid-level armour sets.
You made a mistake.

The book that gives the clue to the initial keyword is Brother's Fallen sold by War Historian Kobl in East Cabilis.

Quote:
You say, 'Hail, Xlixinar Arcut'

Xlixinar Arcut sighs heavily and after a long while says, 'Leave us, Iksar. Leave us to our eternal damnation.'

You say, 'curse'

Xlixinar Arcut twists his face into a frown and says, 'You read what's written, Iksar. It's clear enough so we won't bother to explain the details. We can only stand our guard and hope for [redemption].'

You say, 'redemption'

Xlixinar Arcut grits his teeth and snaps, 'It's very simple, ______! We are fallen! We seek redemption! We guard our 'brothers' here among the Howling Stones until we are relieved. Whether that will ever happen, we do not know. We can only hope that by providing the great warriors of the legion with our [ancient armor], we will earn salvation.'

You say, 'ancient armor'

Xlixinar Arcut says 'You wish the armor of our ancestors? The armor donned by the Guard whose duty was to protect the Chosen? A warrior relies not on strength alone, but many virtues. If a warrior learns to balance each virtue, then he may be fit to guard the Chosen. Each piece of armor reflects a [virtue], and each virtue must be learned before the armor is given.'

You say, 'virtue'

Xlixinar Arcut says 'The armor I keep are the symbols of focus, sacrifice, and perseverence. The [helm], [pauldrons], [vambraces], and [breastplate]. You must bring me proof that you know these virtues before attaining the armor I keep. I also will need a piece of Banded armor of the type you desire. My brother keeps the other pieces.'

You say, 'breastplate'

Xlixinar Arcut says 'The monk is the master of focus, the shaman of sacrifice and the shadowknight of righteousness. Lastly, our brothers of the dark know confidence. It is then our duty to know perseverence more than any other. When others fall from spear and sword, we must stand. When others are washed away by fire and ice, we must stand. When others are frustrated and confused, we must continue on. There is a warrior in the swamp near the city. He is an exile, like my brother and I. He knows more about being a warrior than any baron in Cabilis. Take this note to him.'

You receive Illegible Note: Breastplate.
Quick question
# Dec 09 2002 at 3:26 PM Rating: Default
Does it need to be your Iksar Warrior the does the turn-in? I was wondering if I did all of this with my Iksar Shaman would the Arcuts accept the turn-ins and yeild the Trooper Scale Armor. My faction with them is max Ally, since I know they are on Legion of Cabilis faction.

Since it takes awhile for people to reply on here. I'm going to test it with the Scaled Mystic armor quests by doing them with my Monk, and answer my own question. If my Monk can do the Shaman armor quests it stands to reason my Shaman can do the Warrior armor quests.
RE: Quick question
# Oct 03 2003 at 10:21 PM Rating: Decent
Actually now that you mention it I remember doing these turn in's for a friend a long time ago because I was the only Iksar he knew. This makes getting the armor for my new Ikky warrior trivial. It would be so much easier to throw on some crusty though. It's odd, a gnome and an ogre can fit into the exact same piece of armor, but somehow, even though it fits the little guy and the fattie, it won't fit an Iksar.

Finished this quest after the second try and here are my observations.

I camped my 35 iksar on the second abandoned pier to the side of the main bridge after observing mob pathing a bit. These piers are clear. I then brought my 52 druid to the end of the bridge and waited for Dealione to come out. You will know he is about to come out when you start seeing npc's with names like shieldbearer and fieldmedic come strutting down the bridge to gather at the end. They stand and wait till all have joined before the proceed out to drolvarg ruins.

I harmonied the guards on the bridge and the one to the right along the catwalk in the water to be safe. My plan was to pull him when he was in the center of bridge and use levitate to bring him across the water to the piers therefore avoiding his comrades alltogether. It worked perfectly. Pulled seargent single to the pier, rooted, breath of ro, and second dot applied. He is a palladin and he uses his lay hands when he hits halfway on his hps. Do not be alarmed. He won't heal anymore and if he does it won't be anything significant. Once his lay hands is done its pretty much over. Jump back on the iksar and loot the implant. Take it to Vekis which triggers Streaven. Camped the iksar again at end of the pier then logged on druid and proceeded once again to the bridge. I re-harmonied the guards again to be safe. Two NPC's will pop in center of bridge. One was named Frode and the other was Streaven. I harmonied Frode, as he was a few paces in front of Streaven, and snare pulled streaven from the bridge before he got to the end.

Same deal applies for Streaven with one exception. I had to reapply the dots a second time after his lay hands and delivered the "coup de grace" with starfire. I was a bit nervous about encroaching pilgrims.

All in all I used about 2 and half bubs of mana for both mobs. Laughably easy if you bring the right firepower to bear.

Suggestions to make this an easy camp would be to bring a druid friend and let him handle all the harmony on surrounding mobs. Makes it a cake walk. Don't rush it after you turn in the implant. You have plenty of time to switch out and reset harmony on guards before he shows up. He heals one time only then dies rather insignificantly. Hardest part was the waiting. If you aggro a guard, just get the hell out and zone. Its possible to pull it off but not worth the danger level. Just set your watch and recamp him. I got wasted trying to juggle guard aggro and Streaven and watch for additional adds.

Good luck to you all. The BP is a nice addition and brings me to a full suit of troopescale. Just be patient and have fun. Hope this helped in some small part.

# Aug 30 2001 at 11:02 AM Rating: Default
I just thought I'd let you know cause I made a grave error. When you do this quest make sure you turn in Banded Armor with the referance. The Banded Armor must represent the section or piece of armor you are turning the reference in for. I.E. Banded BP + Reference = Trooper BP. I tell you this because it no where says you have to do this in the quest. It tells you after you turn in your reference and by chance don't have the Banded Armor Piece to turn in with it!! In result you lose your reference and have to redo the quest after camping for so long!!

To let you know, you can just get the banded later and give it to him and you'll still get the piece. I don't know if it will work if you give him something else before you give him banded and after the Recommendation. Just letting you know.

There are two abandoned stone docks just west of the town's gates next to ruins. I parked my iksar warrior on the pier, and waited patiently on my 53rd druid for Sergeant Daelione to spawn. Finally he spawned and I pulled him to the docks where as my druid I pooped on him, promptly switching to my iksar to loot the transmitter. I then ran to Vekis whom spawns when Daelione is killed, and handed her the item. Upon giving her the item she despawned herself and Commander Straeven spawned. Once he left the bridge I pulled him off to the pier and pooped on him aswell. Strategy on soloing both are simple druid solo tactics. Snare, root, dot, and dd if you have to. My faction was amiable before I started and was amiable when I finished killing both npc's. Ofcourse I switched to my iksar and looted the head off Straevens corpse.
Daelione and Straeven both spawn in the paladin trainer building along with a few other of Daelione's friends. Daelione a 2 hour spawn just as other posts have stated. All of said npc's do not charge out of town, running quickly or anything of the like. They all walked and took their time. I mean I couldn't walk any slower then Daelione was walking even if I had run off, no sow, and duck on. They take a few minutes before they leave their spawn spots and begin leaving town.
Daelione was a push over and died quickly only taking 20mana to kill him. Straeven however took 60 mana requiring a few roots, dot(winged death), and a few dd's to finish his healing rear end off.
I took the head with 3 ruby's and handed them to Grik the Exile in SONH and got my reference, which I took to OT and handed to the arcut brothers with my banded mail. As my warrior I did NOT have any empty inventory slots when handing in the reference and banded armor. (This goes for all pieces of trooperscale quest, not required to have an empty inventory slot cause I did the whole suit myself. find my information in the other quests regarding other pieces)

This was by far the hardest Trooper Scale armor quest, just because of all the damn Drixies everywhere. If you want to do this right, camp on the ledge just to the right of the bridge. Nothing goes near there, save for the occational easy Pilgrim. Also, employ someone who can invis you, if you can't do it yourself, because dealing with the Drixies is so damn annoying after you get the implant and you've got to run over to the statue. SoW is also a must here, in case one Drixie aggros on you, and decided to call in every other one in the zone to help. You need to be able to run to the LoIO zone quickly. Daelione spawns exactly every two hours along with a bunch of other low level named guys, including the two Shieldbarers. Careful when you spawn Streaven, cause he takes a few minutes until he crosses the bridge, but he doesn't wait around afterwards like all the others. He keeps running, so you've got to be ready. You can usually tell when Daelione's about to pop, 'cause the other named spawns start to march out, one by one. Have fun, and good luck!

I am assuming that the "OUTPOST" mentioned is the Outpost in the Overthere can anyone confirm this?
I also was wondering where the "noble" is and what his name is?

I also started the quest with the Exile in SoNH and the Exile said to bring "RUBIES" not STAR RUBIES.

I have never seen a ruby at a vendor. Any thoughts on this one?

You can buy rubies off of one of the merchants that are in the building next to the bank in cab, they do cost quite a bit though, its a good idea to make sure you have EVERYTHING you need.

Sergeant Daelione and Commander Straven both spawn in Fironia Vie.

As stated in prior posts.. Sgt Daelione will shout before he comes out of Fironia Vie. Commander Straven will spawn somewhere in the city and make is way to the bridge. He does not charge out of the city.

Respawn of Sgt Daelione seemed to be around 2 hours after he is killed.

My friend (43rd Iksar SK) and I (36th Iksar Warrior) got our ***** handed to us by Commander Straven. Although, the SK had already used his HT on Sgt Daelione cuz he brought a few other mobs with him at the time. If the SK had his HT up we could have taken Straven.

Several Notes ....
# Apr 18 2001 at 12:58 PM Rating: Decent

Mebe (42 warrior) completed this quest with the help of a 49 shaman on the Tholuxe server. Here are a couple of comments:

Aside from some spelling issues, the "solution" post is dead on. Mebe completed this quest the first time through.

The Sargeant was green at 42, the commander was blue. The Sargeant shouts out as he is moving in the zone -- so at least you have some heads up when he gets going.

We pulled both to the lake zone. My helper zoned out right before the NPC died so that he avoided the faction hit.

There were some other drops. In particular, the Sargeant dropped some lame 6/24 1hs weapon and the Commander dropped a 14AC (some additional plusses) shield (this last was not usable by iksar though).

Completed quest today:
Grix the Exile is in Swamp of No Hope appr p1400 n1400 by some ruins and a sitting statue, cant miss em
Sargeant Daelinor spawns on the bridge and heads straight out to top of first hill where he stops for a while, he MAY join with 2 or more other NPCs, then they head out straight and to the right to the drolvarg ruins, try to get him alone when he first comes out or he may be killed by drolvargs, and the drixies and pilgrims are a problem, i pulled him to the two empty piers and killed him there.
Vekis the necro then spawns next to the large standing statue where the stream falls into the ocean inlet, she seems to hang around a bit, so dont worry bout rushing too much, give her the implant.
Commnader Streaven spawns identically to the Sergeant and follows same route, IT IS NOT IMMEDIATLY AS ABOVE STATED AND HE DOES NOT CHARGE THE NECRO, YOU MUST GO GET HIM, be patient I paniced the first time and gave up, it was 4 or 5 mins till I found him on my next try.
one more note, if you cant get Segeant alone, you can follow till the group engages the drolvargs, then pull him out, the others stayed on the drolvargs and Sergeant came after me.
I recommend you get help, camo or invis will help you get to him without all them peskie butterflys and their huge aggression range.
Both named guys were green, I am 49, but i dont think Id have been able to solo Commander Streaven because of his spells and because every passing drixie healed him hehe

Sergeant Daelinor spawn i timed at approxamately 2 hours through three cycles, if you dont get him I believe he will eventually suicide out at Drolvargs, and cycle starts again. When he is killed by the Drolvargs, the Necro appears at staute, so if you see her there start your clock, otherwise you must watch bridge, which is tough to do if KOS, i had non KOS help on quest

one last thing, if you are asking for non Iksar help, my high elf companion Elianar lost one faction, from warmly to amiable, after killing 8 drixies and pilgrims, Commander Streaven once, and Sergeant Daelinor 3 times( which tells ya it took us 3 tries to get this right)

Just completed!!!! I just happend to run across a 52 human monk as I despawned Vekis. He said his faction was so good that he didn't care. This was such an easy kill w/ him. Neither of us barely had a scratch on us. I'm a 45 warrior. I'll admit I let him tank for most of the fight. After many failed attempts on this and nearly giving up - since I usually try to solo this quest as I had problems getting Non-KOS help too. Just so glad to finally have this thing after messing w/ it for so long and dying here and there in the process.....

Vekis is a level 50+ necro that spawns hear the falls in FV and runs down the river toward the encampment, killing everything in it's way. I'm not sure what happens to her once she reaches the bridge, I'm usually far from the area by then.
