Got a pen last night off the 3rd or 4th warlord I killed in the north caves in LoIO. I may even have venomous parchment in the bank. Probably a total waste of a ruby, though it would be fun to make an item that most people thought was useless when it was new.

U guys must be unlucky, because I went to SONH with a lvl 32 sk friend, he went ld after killing bandit camp, then we killed a lamprey, no parchment, then he just HT'd another and meleed it to death and it dropped, now im looking for pen, as some !&$% almost pk'd me when i was waiting for him to pull warlords in loio

The warlord drawing pen is easy to find in LOIO off the goblin warlords...(until, of course, you're actually LOOKING for it...) I havent tried to find the other ingredient though. And why is it that you can NEVER find a blacksmith who makes banded mail when you need em?

Intelligence to my lizard shaman is just plain old STUPID. It's like, your VERY first character you created and you accidentally put 5 points into the opposite mana producing stat. You normally find out before it's too late and you reroll your character. Come on Verant, if you want to keep your customers (yes other MMORPGs will be out soon) you need to THINK before you waste our time and money.

I just got the parchment tonight. I went to the bandit camp to the left of the lake in LOIO. It was on the second venomous Lamprey I killed and took less than a half hour to get. I hope that this spot is as lucky for you as it was for me.

I got it yesterday from near the bandit camp in swamp of no hope (where is the bandit camp in LOIO?).
In swamp, just go to the left when you leave Cabilis and follow the road. Had to kill 2 Lampreys I think...
Now if only I can find someone to sell me banded gauntlets (this had actually turned out to be the hardest part of the quest believe it or not)

Yes I know... all you twinked little Iksars do not have the problem but I cannot afford 100-150 plat per piece of armor at level 26. So the question is: Who drops the gems we need here ?
Price of the gem tells you what level Mob it drops off of. All gems are random drops off any mob. A 100pp gem will drop off a lvl 40+ Mob.
BTW it is very possible for a lvl 26 to have more than enough cash to pay for it without being twinked. My player is not twinked but then I am lvl 45. This armor was made by Verant to be a lvl 30 to 40 armor and 26 is a little low to do by yourself but not impossible.

Posted: Nov 26 2000 at 6:03 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I actually doubt that these quests were made for level 30 and above because at that level nearly all of the mobs you have to kill for the 8 quests are very green to you. So I guess its a good quest for a level 20 to 25. You are right its possible to get the money. I actually got the money for 2 gems but that again means I'll have a hard time to gather the money for my 29 spells. So all in all this quest is great but the money for the gems just sucks.

I don't think think these guys will be green to a lvl 30. But are doable at 20 to 25 with a group.
I sure would like to see you get the Sythrax plans at lvl 30 =)

Hehe. I tried to get the Sythrax plans at 30th. We got smoked in the entrance corridor. I went back later with a 50th plus warrior friend and got them without much difficulty.
I now have all the pieces except the gauntlets and vambraces. I'm wearing Enchanted Cabilis Scale in those locations. IMO, resists are too important at higher levels to sacrifice them for a little AC and some Wis, so I won't be swapping any of my Scaled Mystic Armor for ECS (my Wis is 175, BTW, and AC is over 700, so I've done OK with my Scaled Mystic Armor).
BTW, I got a ruby off a froglok Berzerker once. But don't get your hopes up. I lived in the Swamp for about 5 levels and only got one.

i camped in SONH for hours and killed about 5-6 Lampreys, with out getting the parchment. Is the Lamprey a rare spawn? Or is there a good place in the swamp to find them regularly. And is the Parchment a rare drop?

Anyone know the drop rate of the Venemous Parchment, since the patch. Been camping Swamp of No Hope for 4-5 days and killed 12-15 without a drop.

I have looted these commonly before the patch. I wonder if they *broke* it, ie took them out instead of putting them in. hehe

The parchment more than likely is a rare drop. I have seen tons around the bandit camp near the Feild of Bone zone.

The Bandit Camp by the pillar? Around 2666, 690? I've kill about 10 Venemous Lamprey's in two days with nothing to show for it ( Anyone know a better spot?
10 is all? I have killed 2 dozen Grachnist and no head to show for it and I know he drops the item. It is needed for one of the Iksar Shadow Knight armor. If you want to try there are also Venomous Lampreys in the FV zone also.

I went to FV to try but didn't know where they spawned and kept seeing wandering guards. Figured it was too Dangerous.

hill just beyond the bridge out of range of
the guards. You can also find them between
the hill where the drachnid silklurkers and
silkstranders hang out and the bridge. I only
had to kill 3 lampreys before I got the
parchment.

I was going to post the correction,but I see someone already has. They're not plans, it's a pen, as that guy already posted. I killed about 6 goblin warlords in the lake of ill before i got one to drop a pen.

they are quite a common drop on them in Lake of Ill Omen, to my experience

Just wanted to make a correction. Shezlie Furscale asks for a Warlord Drawing Pen, not Warlord Drawing Plans. The Pen is a fairly common drop off of Goblin Warlords in the Lake of Ill Omen

Just curious but the name is remarkably close to the Warlord Drawing Quill which drops off Goblin Warlords in The Lake of Ill Omen. It could be that this is the item needed. It makes sense you would write on parchment with a quill pen.

Parchment are randomly dropped by the Venemous Lamprey in Swamp of No Hope. It looks like a regular spell scroll.

Do any of these pieces of armor have Wisdom modifiers? I mean look if it is a Shaman Based item, why do we need Charisma? Or extra HP? I need wisdom more then anything, the only way to stay alive!
I compared the stuff found so far, its the equiv more of jarsath which many iksar able to do these quests probably had, cept jarsath legs are higher/better. I've seen twinked iskars in jarsath since you can run in and get the stuff with a buddies protection since it often is left to rot. Both the shaman and dreadscale nearly equal jarsath on most pieces done.
Totemic and darkforge are still one or more ac higher than these per piece (compared to scaled mystic, and dreadscale, respectively)
I think it would add up to be a diff of 14 or so
better ac for the totemic or darkforge per set (more probably on the darkforge), than scaled mystic or dreadscale.
I think i heard a naked iskar warrior of level 60 only has about 20 ac more than a naked non iksar warrior of level 60, meaning that the iksars ac bonus won't really take up the slack until pretty high.
Still though probably kind of a fun quest for something different for iksars.. and from what I've seen and heard so far the stuff is not super rare on what drops it (no where near as hard as some pieces of totemic so far) Ive seen stuff like systhrax building plans before these quests, and saw a cacti thing just the other night with my 28 cleric grouping in overthere. I told the iksar necro I was with to loot it since maybe he could do the quest for the item.

Something I just threw together out of boredom. Here's a comparison of enchanted cabilis scale, scaled mystic, and totemic armor, total stats on full suits. I think you'll agree that iksar get the better end of this deal whether they choose enchanted cabilis scale, scaled mystic, or a combination of both.
Enchanted Cabilis Scale AC 105, STR 22, WIS 18
Scaled Mystic AC 86, AGI 8, CHA 5, HP 30, INT 5, MANA 20, STA 10, STR 7, WIS 11, SV Cold 7, SV Fire 5, SV Disease 10, SV Poison 10, SV Magic 10
Totemic AC 93, AGI 5, CHA 5, DEX 5, INT 5, STA 5, STR 5, WIS 5, SV Cold 5, SV Fire 5, SV Disease 5, SV Poison 5, SV Magic 5
Totemic adds exactly 5 to every stat, no more, no less. They get a little more AC than scaled mystic but scaled mystic is superior by far, imo and the AC and wisdom on enchanted cabilis scale own both sets of armor.

I just might point out that these items are all VERY similar to their totemic equivalents... ie they are totemic for lizzies
