The Darkened Sea Info & Guides: Overview | Progression & Task List | Raiding | Visible Armor

About Heroic Adventures:

- They use the task system (steps are shown in task window, but steps are only revealed as you get to them).
- Scale in difficulty, loot quality, and mob levels (based on your group's highest level player - as low as 85).
- Tuned for 2-3 players and their mercenaries.
- Nameds can spawn as you progress through the task (you usually have to complete a few steps before this can happen).
- Collection items can drop from mobs in the instances, and ground spawns appear midway through tasks.
- Expected time of completion will vary by your group's makeup (anywhere from 30-90+ minutes).
- There is some variations/randomization in the task steps you'll be assigned as you progress through the task.

TASK IN DETAIL

========================================================================
TRIGGERING THE TASK
========================================================================

You say, 'Hail, a noctis viratum'

a noctis viratum says 'It's best that I return to the shadows. It is up to you, _____, to [stop] what the citadel has set in motion.'

You say, 'I'll stop it'

a noctis viratum says 'Very well, _____. Give the word when you're [ready] to begin.'

You have been assigned the task 'Shake the Citadel'.

Tsalis Ferin feels that it is in his best interest to lay low, but that does not stop him from offering you a chance to strike the citadel on his behalf.

========================================================================
STEP #1
========================================================================

Eradicate a few ambulatory carcasses 0/5 (Arx Mentis)

Task Window Says: ?

If You Get This Step: Mob kills until you have five updates.

=====================

Break their virga vitalas 0/4 (Arx Mentis)

Task Window Says: ?

If You Get This Step: Mob kills until you have four updates.

=====================

Tear up their libre vitalas 0/4 (Arx Mentis)

Task Window Says: The citadel continues to test their arcane powers of animation on stranger and stranger objects. They have most recently given life to the pages of heavy tomes. Hinder their research by eliminating these living books. You'll likely find the libre vitalas in the Antearx Extraction Lab as well as the Antearx Armory, Penuarx Stasis Lab, or the Protarx Relic Keep.

If You Get This Step: Mob kills until you have 22 updates.

========================================================================
STEP #2
========================================================================

Silence the citadel's arcanists 0/20 (Arx Mentis)

Task Window Says: While traversing the halls of the citadel, do away with any indagators or indagatrixes you come across.

If You Get This Step: Mob kills until you have 20 updates.

=====================

Silence the citadel's priests 0/15 (Arx Mentis)

Task Window Says: While traversing the halls of the citadel do away with any vicarums you come across.

If You Get This Step: Mob kills until you have 15 updates.

You can find the priests in the library.

========================================================================
STEP #3
========================================================================

Disrupt the citadel's experiments on the scavenger magicae 0/10 (Arx Mentis)

Task Window Says: You should be able to deal a critical blow to the citadel's research efforts by exterminating the scavenger magicaes that are held in the Antearx Magicae Sanctuary.

If You Get This Step: Mob kills until you have 10 updates.

=====================

Beat some sense into the violent citizens 0/7 (Arx Mentis)

Task Window Says: The normally docile citizens that inhabit the town are becoming increasingly violent toward outsiders. Though it may seem counter-intuitive, beating some sense into the most aggressive citizens should send a message to the remaining population that confronting adventurers is not in their best interests.

If You Get This Step: Mob kills until you have seven updates. These are the "an artist", "an ethicist", "an author", "a chef" types down by the zone-in area.

=====================

Subdue a few praetors 0/7 (Arx Mentis)

Task Window Says: The normally docile citizens that inhabit the town are becoming increasingly violent towards outsiders.
Though it may seem counter-intuitive, beating some sense into the most aggressive should send a message to remaining
population that confronting adventurers is not in their best interests.

If You Get This Step: Mob kills until you have seven updates.

========================================================================
STEP #4
========================================================================

Speak to the noctis viratum 0/1 (Arx Mentis)

Task Window Says: Return to Tsalis Ferin and inform him of your success.

If You Get This Step: Hail update for task completion.

Shake the Citadel (Heroic Adventure)

TASK IN DETAIL

Step #1: Break their virga vitalas 0/5

Task Window Says: The citadel has been expanding their animation to more niche golems. The 'virga vitala', or living broom, is the latest creation. Go slow down their research by breaking any of these brooms you come across. You should be able to find them scattered throughout the various labs and corridors of the fortress.

Step #1: Eradicate a few ambulatory carcasses 0/5

Task Window Says: Much of the citadel's dirty work is now being carried out by reanimated corpses. Slow them down by purging the fortress of any ambulatory carcasses you come across. You'll find most of them in the Teritarx, though some of them may be found in the Penutarx Reanimation Ward or the Protarx Library.

Step #2: Silence the citadel's priests 0/15

Task Window Says: While traversing the halls of the citadel do away with any vicarums you come across.

Step #2: Silence the citadel's arcanists 0/20

Task Window Says: While traversing the halls of the citadel do away with any indagators or indagatrixes you come across.

Step #3: Beat some sense into the violent citizens 0/7

Task Window Says: The normally docile citizens that inhabit the town are becoming increasingly violent toward outsiders. Though it may seem counter-intuitive, beating some sense into the most aggressive citizens should send a message to the remaining population that confronting adventurers is not in their best interests.

Step #3: Subdue a few praetors 0/7

Task Window Says: Loosen the praetors' grasp on the city by thinning their numbers.

Step #3: Disrupt the citadel's experiments on the scavenger magicae 0/10

Task Window Says: You should be able to deal critical a blow to the citadel's research efforts by exterminating the scavenger magicaes that are in the Anetarx Magicae Sanctuary.

As Heroic Adventures go, not very hard, surprising for this final "end zone" No respawns, which helps since you can clear those annoying wandering see-invis broomsticks and not have to worry about repops. Doubly satisfying for us since we got the step requiring killing some of them. The named was an easy fight. He's actually easy to single, even if he can't be snared since he stops where he's pulled to. We got him to stop right outside the room and then pulled him to the end of the corridor. He's not leashed.

Spawned collectibles are not hard to locate if you run thru the main rooms keeping yours eyes peeled. We found 4. Collectibles regularly spawn in the undead room "downstairs" in the regular zone and I found 2 of the instanced spawns there. The other 2 were in rooms we had cleared so easy to find.

We also got a few from mob drops, altho I don't recall how many. XP was great so---close to an AA per kill---so this is definitely a HA worth doing again.

Tear up their libre vitalas 0/22 (Arx Mentis)

This step is weird. We didn't get it but this if we had would be a lot more work than the other options, given that the books are relatively scarce mobs, always spawn around/near other mobs, see invis and don't wander. I'd almost suggest dropping the HA if you get this step and try again since the other options only required killing 4 broomsticks or 5 undead carcass mobs. Not well-balanced in terms of the effort required.

The Articles of Animation collection we had 3 spawn in the Protarx Relic Keep area and 1 spawned in the Protarx Infusion Lab area. Are there any other spawn areas for this collection?

If You Get This Step: Mob kills until you have seven updates.

Not just any mobs, these particular updates only come from killing the artists, musicians, chefs, authors, etc. -- mobs found only at the zone-in.
