The Darkened Sea Info & Guides: Overview | Progression & Task List | Raiding | Visible Armor This solo task begins with Scout Krenk (click for map image) on Thuliasaur Island. Pre-Requisites for Requesting: - Minimum Level 95 - Minimum dubious faction with The Kromtus Say "help" to request the task. You say, 'Hail, Scout Krenk' Scout Krenk appears startled, as if you caught him trying to nap. 'Oh, hmm, hail to you, _____. Say, how would you like to [help] me do something? Your efforts will be fairly rewarded.' You say, 'I will help...' Scout Krenk says 'Move quickly now and...' His voice lowers, 'Don't tell the elders who you're working for.' You have been assigned the task 'Dirty Work'. Scout Krenk is tired of the elders tasking him with demeaning labor so he has offered to pay you a modest sum to alleviate his workload. Seek out an appropriately sized bucket, anything the Kromtus would have to offer would be unwieldly for someone like you. Perhaps the Bloodfeather Aviaks would have something more your size in their storage huts. Seek out an appropriate sized broom. Perhaps the Thaell Ew would have something more your size in their storage rooms. Smash the heads of any molerat vermin you come across. Fetch an appropriately sized bucket 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island) "Simple Bucket" is a ground spawn in the Aviak village. A dirt filled bucket sits on the ground in the corner of the room. You decide this will work perfectly for the job you've been assigned so you pick the bucket up, dump the dirt out onto the floor of the hut and go along on your merry way. Fetch an appropriately sized broom 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island) This is a ground spawn in the western Thaell Ew temple (southernmost room in the west indoors area). A pristine looking broom rests against the wall. This will do nicely, you wait until no one is looking then quickly grab the broom for your own use. Sweep up some of the molerat mess 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island) Objects called "molerat mess" are found in Kromtus houses. Right-click the broom to update the task. You feel a bit nauseated as you use your broom to sweep the foul mess into your bucket. You sweep up the mess into the bucket. As you sweep the last of the molerat mess into your bucket you slam the broom against the floor and it shatters into shards of wood. Someone else can be bothered to clean 'that' mess up later... Dump the contents of the bucket in the Kromtus fishing cove 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island) Task Window Says: Swim out to the depths of the Kromtus fishing cove and empty your bucket there. (That'll teach the scout to task you with such awful work...) Go underwater in the Kromtus Fishing Cove (east of the giant village) and right-click the bucket. You empty the contents of the bucket into the Kromtus fishing cove and are immediately overcome with the desire to swim back to shore to minimize the amount of time you spend wading around in rat filth... Eliminate a few pests 0/2 (Thuliasaur Island) Kill any two "a pest" mobs (these are a bit tougher than what their /con may lead you to believe: they hit for a max ~10,000 and are fast moving). a pest turns toward you and lets out an unnerving hiss. a pest has been slain by _____! a pest's corpse squeals loudly as it takes a mortal wound. Speak with Scout Krenk 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island) You say, 'Hail, Scout Krenk' Scout Krenk claps his hands, 'Wonderful, small one! You have very clearly earned your pay today. Just look at the sweat of your brow and the wafting odor of your clothes.' He gingerly divvies out a few coins into your hands. 'You made sure to dump the rancid mess far away from the village right? The elders would have my head if they found any more mess making its way back into the village!' You nod, saying nothing, and decide to be on your way. Your previous sympathy for the scout's situation now weighs against the petty sum he has awarded you with... Rewards: Faction with The Kromtus (+36) --AND-- Tiny Parrot's Left Ulna --OR-- 50 platinum This task is repeatable with a 6-hour lockout timer from the time of request. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Rather than settling this I am adding to the confusion. Myself (Wood Elf Ranger) my wife (Wood Elf Bard) and her box (High Elf Mage) all just completed this within a few minutes of each other and each received 35 Faction with The Kromtus.

I gained 39 faction. a charisma thing? I am +275 heroic
Possibly. At 105, with a charisma of 1069 (+418 heroic) I received 46 faction.
I tried this on another 105 with a different charisma... and apparently faction maxes out at amiable, it didn't give me any additional faction.

I'm not aware of any situation in the game where you get a different faction amount based on anything except hitting the ceiling, I vaguely think I recall seeing a funny number hit (vs. the expected +30 or whatever it was) on something when I maxed it out with that last +17 or whatever it showed as. However, I could be recalling a different game.
Anyone confirm the faction hits for this quest?
