Jeb Lemused has sent you to find the four masters of the Enchanter disciplines.

Modani Qu'Loni is the master of Illusion. He can be found in The Overthere, in the form of a Scorpis. He asks that in return for a piece of the Staff of the Shissar, you prove your worth by retrieving some items for him.

You will need to complete the snow blossums quest, the chalice of kings quest, and kill two high level Guildmasters. Two groups of 55+ should be able to handle both Guildmasters.

You: 'hail Modani Qu`Loni'
Modani Qu`Loni: 'The hidden self inside a myriad of magic is one that walks quite softly. Yes, that is what you must seek.'

You give Modani Qu'Loni Jeb's Seal.
Modani Qu`Loni: 'Ah yes, Jeb's seal. The time to craft a Serpent must have come. I will need components collected to craft the first of the pieces. I will also provide you with a sack in which you must combine the items. Are you ready to collect them?'

You: 'I am ready to collect them.'
Modani Qu`Loni: 'Scattered throughout the world are various items. To prove your worth, go collect these and return them to me. The Xolion Rod, Innoruuk's Word, Chalice of Kings, and snow blossoms.'

You: 'I need a sack.'
Modani Qu'Loni: 'Take this sack and combine the items I requested in it. Then return it to me. '
You receive an Enchanter's Bag

You: 'What is the Chalice of Kings?'
Modani Qu'Loni: 'The Chalice of Kings is the chalice of elven kings. Recently thought to be lost to the ages, it was recently discovered. I need its magical powers to create a magical liquid.'

The Chalice of Kings is found via this quest.

You: 'What is the Xolion Rod?'
Modani Qu'Loni: 'This is the rod of an ancient civilization found on this continent. Nothing is known of it other than that the scaled ones discovered it years ago.'

The Rod is dropped by Vessel Drozlin.

You: 'What are Snow Blossoms?'
Modani Qu'Loni: 'These are flowers that are also used in the creation process. They were once widespread, but now I am told they only grow in select places.'

Snow Blossoms are found via this quest.

Innoruuk's Word is found on Verina Tomb.

You combine the four items in the bag.
You hand Modani Qu'Loni the combined item.

Modani Qu`Loni says: 'Excellent, you have done well. Here is the first piece of the staff. Now you must go seek out the second master; he will clear the path for you.
You receive a piece of the Staff of the Shissar

Handing copy of Notes to Jeb Lemused
# Jul 01 2012 at 8:55 AM Rating: Decent
When you do hand the Copy of Notes in to Jeb Lemused (aka a sarnak initiator) make sure you have a empty slot. I had empty bags, and several other slots in bags, did hand in got the correct speech as below

Quote:
A sarnak initiator says "I see you have what I was waiting for. Stofo does do excellent work. It seems you are to start on a long journey. Take this seal and it will guide you on your next step. Seek out the masters of enchantment. In time we will craft the serpent for you. When you have collected the four parts of the staff, you msut combine them in a bundle and return them to me."

A sarnak initiator says "Take this seal. You will need to show it to the other masters so that they may grant you the tools to complete your next tasks. When you have collected the four parts of the staff you must combine them in a bundle for me. The other masters can provide the means to bundle them. Good luck and safe travels."

You gain experience.

However when I searched my bags its was nowhere to be found. Worrying I would have to start all over again (I didn't relish camping for the metallic robes again) a guildie suggested looking in the bank. Sure enough there in a tiny corner of a bag, although there were empty slots in the bank, was Jebs Seal.

Morale of the Story - leave an empty slot on your person when doing hand in.

I have just turned in and received my 1st and 2nd Staff pieces.Modani Qu`Loni is in the temple on the other side of the raven from the howling stone entrance. You enter in the far right entrance to the temple on the opposite side of side of the cliff walls.(in side the canyon in the middle of the zone). He is constantly moving. I enlisted the help of a 30ish druid to track and runed both of us. He does not see thru invis and has a pet. You can just hand him the sack and you will be given the piece. I am kos to VS and Kos to sanarks I was afraid of aggros so i had arcane rune and our rune (requires a peridot) on .. but nothing hit me. He wanders all around inside the temple from what i could see. But he doesn't attack you when you hand in.

Why does faction matter?
# Mar 03 2002 at 7:06 PM Rating: Decent
Hi,
I dont know much about enchanters, but can't you just turn yourself into whatever race you are communicating with (other than stuff like orcs)? I saw a highelf turn into a darkelf and just waltz right into neriak, so am i right?

# Jul 01 2004 at 11:23 AM Rating: Default
hmm ive walked into neriak with my chanter in de illusion they still want to beat me up because im under tunare. the chanter you seen was probably agnostic otherwise theyd beat him up too. so it aint ur base race that matters but your diety.

Lengthy post...

Because your race AFFECTS your faction, it doesn't eliminate it. For most of us this is irrelivent because we can not modify our race but for enchanters, and to a lesser extent bards and rogues, this is invaluable knowledge.

Everyone starts out with a base faction with EVERY faction in the game. For some factions like say crushbone orcs that faction puts us below the KOS (Kill on Sight) level but for others like say freeport militia most of us are not KOS. Your starting faction levels with everyone are determined by your race, religion and class at character creation. Once you go out into the world you will eventually do things that adjust these factions.

Now I don't know the exact numbers so I'll make some up as an EXAMPLE ONLY, DO NOT take these NUMBERS as fact they are just used to show you how faction works. Say you are an agnostic high elf enchanter, you will have a base faction with dark elf (DE) guards that makes you KOS, we'll call this faction 100. You can use illusion DE to boost base faction with DE guards, lets say this brings you up 100 points to 200 and are not KOS.

Now say you killed some DE guards for sport at some point, and took 100 points. What this means is you have a faction of 0 and your 100 point boost for DE illusion only brings you up to 100 which is KOS.

Another example say you need a 300 points faction for a quest. You have 100 and your illusion gives you another 100 but you still have to do faction work to get that last 100 before you can do the quest.

Another example would be if you use gnome illusion instead, this may only give you 50 more points than high elf. Maybe 150 isn't KOS but that means you have to be more weary of killing these guards because you are closer to being KOS than you would be as a DE.

Last example, say you wanted to stroll through Nek Forest as a high elf, you need to gain 50 points of faction by doing quests as a dark elf (or a gnome) first.

I believe that now due to the changes in Illusions, it totally resets your faction so that only diety matters. Im not 100pct sure though. I hear that using Illusion: Dark Elf will bring you to app with VS.

Actually this is mis-information. The patch which changed the way illusions affected faction only affected npc illusions, such as elementals.

So, using a DE Illusion to wander around Neriak is still do-able, however, using npc illusions, such as using the earth elemental illusion to buy spells from the brownies in L Faydark has been made impossible.

I haven't read most of the posts on this board, and I cant be ***** to press back =D but I'm guessing this has popped up in relation to the charm in Overthere? Well the dude is on Venril Sathir faction, and my High Elf Enchanter was able to use a DE illusion to wander into his liar non kos, and then I got the faction upto aimable with collabaration which was enough to hand in my gem without needing to charm him. He still agros after you hand the gem in tho, so have gate ready and just keep clicking =D

Good luck

I went to The Overthere, searched for Modani and could not find him. I went to loc 538, -936 and there was nothing in that room - there are a bunch of scorpis in that area of course. I even had a druid with me to look around for one, but no luck. I assumed Modani was a static mob, is this not the case?
is it really worth all the trouble?

do anyother enchanters out there feel like this is a royal pain in the *** for a whole lot of nothing?! no wonder so many never bother with the silly thing.

Greetings

Quick Question. I have already recieved the 3rd piece of the Staff.

I cannot collect a bag or a sack from any other Epic quest NPC. The Gm's tell me the quest is working correctly. (and why wouldn't they. Its never Verant's fault <eg> )

The only clue I have is "you should seek out Modani first" Does this mean I have to destroy the 3rd peice in order to hand in my 1st and 2nd items then re-do the 3rd?

that would just plan suck.

You need 2 open slots in your inventory for this to work now. Give the seal to the any of the quest mobs, and he (or she) will give you the seal back first, and then the bag. If you have only 1 inventory slot open, the seal goes into the open slot, and the bag goes into oblivion, being that it is no drop.

It's now been changed yet again.

VI changed things with a patch a little while back that if you were given items that you didn't quite have room for in your inventory, the remaining item would stay on your cursor instead of falling on the ground, (or in the case of nodrop quest items, not showing up at all). In all instances where I've asked for a sack so far, the seal goes back into my remaining open main inventory slot, and the bag stays on my cursor.

Bad Faction

I was wondering if any ENc out there had some info on completing the Snow Blossom part of This Quest. A long time ago before they made city guards godlike I used to hunt in oggok for exp, and now my faction with the town is completely ruined, even with illusion spells and the like. If you have any info on completing the quest with bad faction plz let me know.

The snow blossoms is easy to do even though you're KOS to the Ogre guards. Merchants stay dubious no matter how many ogre guards u've killed back in the days hehe I know i've done it b4 I am old school also. First off you cast illusion ogre, then invis up. The quest giver will be indiff so all you need to do is cast collaboration. just remember when u leave her room to stay invis.

I've noticed that miss Blossum is indifferent to me even though my Ogre faction is otherwise very good. The merchant, however, may give you trouble. Usually merchants don't drop below dubious though and maybe that's good enough to do the quest.

Don't kill the poor Ogres next time.

I would definitely have to agree with you. It is sad though that High Elf enchanters have it so bad. Many don't realize until it's loot late that killing orcs will be devastating to you later. Good luck doing your Tash Coin quest. I had a hell of a time in Neriak; I died three times just trying to get that coin.

Actually the coin of tash quest can be done even if you are KoS in Neriak I mean the coin is right there next to the wizard staff and how many non dark elf wizards do you know? You invis, go through foreign to commons and then swim from the PoD around the side and up to the outside of the blind fish and pick up your coin then swim away from any NPCs and gate out...very simple. As for high elves, my woodelf bard killed orcs till they stopped giving faction (before they patched the removal of faction caps) and he can still get into Neriak as an inkie.

Keeping or killing factions is a personal decision though... Myself, I like being able to take my bard to every city in the world except kael, it's funny asking all the newbies where the dark elf bard guild or the iksar bard guild is. I did promise myself that I'd never kill dorfs if I made a dr00d though, I don't know any that haven't spent a level or 2 doing that. Most of my friends are pretty understanding of me being faction conscious, especially when I can buy my necro friend's spells in his guild for less than he can or even get my enchanter friend her enchant (gold, plat, etc) spells.

The best part is having super good faction in places so you can do the absurd like walk through Firiona Vie as an Iksar or Kelethin as a Dark Elf.

I have to disagree a bit about being able to do the coin of Tash quest, I (before I realized I needed a decent Dark Barginer faction to do the quest) smoked tons of DE guards and Dorn several times too, not even necessarily for exp but thrill killing, and Dorn just as revenge as he slaughtered me once then when I went to loot my corpse he seemingly popped out of nowhere and kicked my **** again, and yet a third time while looting....yes it is extremely humorous now but at the time I was really pissed. Anyway now I had screwed my Dark Barginer faction even with collaboriation I couldnt get faction high enough, so I just had to wait till I was high enopugh level to scribe and mem the upgrade Tash spells

I think I can speak for everyone on this topic. Please people when you know that someone has been camping for a long time, don't pester them about when they are going to leave. Don't sit down next to them to "wait" until they are done. You might be waiting a long time and then the time it takes for you to complete your camp on top of that. The NPC will always respawn and will always be there. Just ask them kindly if they will send you a tell when they are done and 9 times out of 10 they will. These players are tired from camping that long of a period and quite understandably a little grouchy and become extremely nervous at the thought of someone possibly stealing their kill. So, be courteous.
RE: Courteous
# Oct 13 2000 at 10:39 AM Rating: Decent
Create a lvl one DE and a lvl one Iksar. Have them camped at the NPC spawn locations. Log on with them first thing every day you are going to play. When you get lucky (like I did) you log on facing the NPC. Log off, get your main character and start organizing your attack group.

This is an extremely old post but what the heck, ill reply anyways...

I believe he was talking about the crappiest camps for the epic: Verina Tomb (Neriak, camped by the darkie alt) and Vessel Drozlin (Cabilis, camped by the ikky alt) ^_^
