You say, 'Hail, Galeth Veredeth'

Galeth Veredeth says 'The [search] has taught us much. Now it is the [moment] to [stop] the enemy.'

You say, 'The moment?'

Galeth Veredeth watches a stick insect slowly crawling across his metal hand. 'Time moves so swiftly here... I forgot the urgency of the mortal. When I see the rain falling and the creatures creeping, or I hear the clicks of my clockwork gears, they all rush [together].

You say, 'Together?'

Galeth Veredeth says 'We spirits gather here for but a short time. The ones who have known nothing but the mortal cannot see how swiftly it travels, and they fear the vastness of time beyond their flesh. Lyirae feels this fear. She wishes to fight alone, thinking to [protect] me from the vastness.'

You say, 'Protect you?'

Galeth Veredeth says 'Each of us will pass from the river to the sea. Some quibble over time, but all mortals reach it in a blink. Lyirae should not protect me. She should look to the stream. Protect the flow, the current upon which all time is carried.' Galeth touches a leaf and allows the stick insect to crawl from his hand. 'Time is both infinite and short. Let us [stop] the enemy.'

You say, 'We'll stop them...'

Galeth Veredeth says 'The enemy forces amass on the beach. Any moment they will march into the jungle. _____, Lyirae fears the inevitable: the abandonment of flesh and the infinity of spirit. Let us give her no cause to fear for us. [Proceed] now. We will face them together.'

You have been assigned the task 'Fit for the New World'.

The Combine are trying to capture a large creature on the island. They are about to send reinforcements, and Galeth thinks this is the time to stop them.

You say, 'Let's proceed'

Galeth Veredeth says 'Indeed.'

You have entered Thuliasaur Island.

Speak with Galeth 0/3 (Thuliasaur Island)

Hail him three times for the update, and then watch out because a group of mobs makes its way towards the area from the south (they do not see invisibility).

Galeth Veredeth says 'Lyirae could not wait. She told me to stay behind. She has followed a line of reinforcements pushing into the interior. Still my joints constrain me, and I could not keep up with her pace.'

Galeth Veredeth says 'Lyirae thought I would be easy prey with my current capabilities of locomotion.' Galeth wheezes through his steam vents, which sounds almost like laughter. 'She is kind for worrying about the fate of a spirit inside a metal body.''

Galeth Veredeth says 'She would have cause for sadness if we did not move south. Other groups of reinforcements have landed on the shore and begin to push north. We must cut them off.'

Defeat the landing party marching northward 0/13 (Thuliasaur Island)

Average difficulty mobs, but have a fair amount of hitpoints and are fairly close together. They are mezzable and rootable/snareable. If you aggro and fade "a squad leader" after having killed a few troops, they may respawn. This doesn't matter, though, as any 13 of these mobs will update and progress the task.

Upon killing the last one, you see:

Galeth Veredeth says 'We should find Lyirae. The soldiers are not the only ones deserving of reinforcements. She followed them to the northwest.'

Speak with Lyirae on the southern hill facing the western river branch 0/4 (Thuliasaur Island)

She is found along the western boundary of the raptor area (no raptors in the instanced version of the zone, but it's in the same area).

Lyirae Oakwynd shouts 'What are you doing here, Galeth? The rain -- you'll grind to a halt and get yourself killed!'

Galeth Veredeth shouts 'You forget I am a spirit of Growth. I cannot die like you imagine. This metal body...'

Lyirae Oakwynd fires another arrow through the rain, keeping the Combine squad pinned down. 'You're here now. I can see you, touch you, hear you. If you were far away and I could not see your fate, perhaps it would be different. But nothing will happen to you under my watch!'

Galeth Veredeth readies his sword. 'I could say the same. I will not let your life spill into the sea just yet. Keep them occupied.' Galeth rushes toward the Combine squad.

Lyirae Oakwynd shouts 'Galeth! Adventurers, help him!'

Galeth Veredeth's arm slows as he swings his sword. His joints grind and freeze as he turns to parry a strike.

Defeat the Combine squad 0/10 (Thuliasaur Island)

These mobs are of the same variety as previous.

Speak with Lyirae 0/3 (Thuliasaur Island)

Lyirae Oakwynd looks ruefully at Galeth. 'I told you this would happen...'

Galeth Veredeth manages to lower his arm a few inches. 'I should have a word with Ognit about the quality of his craftsmanship...'

Lyirae Oakwynd pours a small flask of plant oil onto Galeth's joints and tries to loosen them.

Speak with Galeth 0/3 (Thuliasaur Island)

Galeth Veredeth's arms and legs start to move more freely. 'I can keep going, but I don't know how much longer my body will be useful in this rain.'

Lyirae Oakwynd yells, 'Galeth, stay here! I don't want to see you destroyed today!' Lyirae runs further into the forest.

Galeth Veredeth says, 'Though my body slows I shall not abandon her.'

Move west, up the river to Lyirae 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island)

Lyirae Oakwynd frowns as she hears the clanking of Galeth's approach. 'He is going to get himself killed...'

Lyirae Oakwynd points to the group of nearby Combine. 'Do you see them slaughtering the creatures? What are they doing? Those creatures have done nothing... we must stop this!'

Defeat the Combine squad 0/11 (Thuliasaur Island)

Same as above. Upon the last kill, you see:

Galeth Veredeth points westward down the river. 'This is just the bait. There are older, larger things that lurk in the sea.'

Reach the clearing at the end of the river to the west 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island)

Speak with Galeth 0/10 (Thuliasaur Island)

Galeth Veredeth raises his hand to you. 'Hold and listen.'

Praetor Venatos shouts 'The stench of these creatures is enough to lure every fly from Odus! Una better arrive soon or she'll be late to supper!'

Una Lucem's eyes wander around the forest, adjusting to the dim light. She does not blink as the rain strikes her pupils. Her gaze comes to rest on the mound of corpses. 'Looks like the courtyard after training. But these have all their pieces.'

Una Lucem stares at Venatos. He looks at the ground. 'Where's the giant? Father said to fetch a giant.'

Galeth Veredeth keeps looking at the ground. 'It's sure to come soon... we killed so many... and the stench will surely attract the beast...'

Una Lucem cocks her head, still looking at Venatos. 'You didn't finish setting the plate.' With a swing of Una's sword, a shockwave fans out and cleaves the skin of the remaining dinosaurs.

Lyirae Oakwynd whispers to you and Galeth. 'She's a monster, just like the others!' Lyirae nocks an arrow and looses it at Una.

Una Lucem , without more than a glance, flashes her sword like lightning amid the raindrops. Lyirae's arrow falls in twain. Una's eyes stare into the forest's gloom, marking the arrow's genesis.

Lyirae Oakwynd silently springs to action, darting through the undergrowth without a word, running at Una Lucem.

Galeth Veredeth shouts, 'Lyirae!' Galeth clangs after her.

Speak with Una Lucem 0/9 (Thuliasaur Island)


Upon the ninth hail, be ready for a fight.

Una Lucem emits a blast of magic, throwing Galeth and Lyirae to the ground. Galeth's frame and leg joints crack.

Una Lucem looks at you impassively. 'You came to see me again. You must admire me.'

Praetor Venatos glances around as the ground begins to shake. 'The creature is coming!'

Una Lucem keeps looking at you. 'I see what father meant about weakness. The old races aren't as strong as I am. Their skin always burns off too quickly, or their limbs won't stay on.'

Praetor Venatos cries out. Tree limbs snap as a gigantic lizard crashes into the clearing. As it lands, it crushes Venatos and his troops.

Praetor Venatos died.
a vanguard died.
a razer died.
a scout died.

Una Lucem raises her head to look up at the lizard towering above her. 'This one looks stronger. It will please Father.' Una Lucem begins casting a spell.

Lyirae Oakwynd calls out weakly. 'No, you must stop her! The creature is innocent...'

Una Lucem turns her attention upon you. 'Yes? Why do you pester me? I am doing the good will of my father. He wants to bring perfection to the world. You don't want that? You don't want your children to have the strength of this creature? See how strong it is!'

Una Lucem releases a spell upon the creature. It glares at you hungrily.

Defeat the Thuliasaur 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island)

Thuliasaur summons from 100% health; sees through all forms of invisibility; hits for a max ~24,500; AE rampages; single-target rampages; and has an AE called "Massive Stomp":

Massive Stomp: PB AE 100', Magic (-975)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 60000
2: Stun (3.00 sec)

DPS it to 5% for the update.

Lyirae Oakwynd shouts 'No, don't kill it!'

Una Lucem touches her fingers to the symbol on her breastplate. 'Oh, this creature is weak. It will never please Father.' She outstretches her other arm and points two fingers at the lizard. She drops her fingers toward the ground.

For a moment, the lizard is lit by a faint blue glow before a pillar of magic streaks out of the sky and consumes it.

Lyirae Oakwynd cries out and covers her head as the magical flames destroy the lizard and singe the trees.

Thuliasaur died.

Una Lucem looks at you and blinks. 'I must meet Father's dark woman at the Dredge. You will come and watch me?' Una Lucem disappears in a pillar of light.

Speak with Lyirae 0/5 (Thuliasaur Island)

Hail her until the task completes. A chest also spawns at this time. The task is repeatable with a 6-hour lockout timer from the time of request.

Lyirae Oakwynd puts her hand over the rent running down the front of Galeth's frame. 'I won't add to the salt... I don't want to ruin your joints...' Lyirae brushes her cheeks, though the rain still falls.

Lyirae Oakwynd looks at Galeth's legs, which have broken off below the knee joints. 'I knew this would happen... I told you to wait. This is how it always ends...'

Galeth Veredeth's face remains expressionless as always. 'You know my metal feels no pain. And still my spirit lives. Take heart, Lyirae. We must go to Firiona. There is still time before we reach the sea.'

Lyirae Oakwynd picks up Galeth and bears his weight as best she can. She turns toward the beach. 'We will journey with you to Firiona, though...' Lyirae looks around at the burning stumps, the carcasses, and then the untouched jungle. 'I almost wish I could stay here -- remove myself from all the strife to come, all the death...'

Lyirae Oakwynd listens to Galeth speak as he rests on her back. 'As I said, there is still time. Our courses do not end on this island, in this river. We have a long way to go once we [leave] here. We should meet with Captain Sedgethwait on Brother Island and set sail together.

This task has about six different ways it bugs out at the end. Get to the clearing, then task says to hail Galeth 10 times, get to 2/10 hails, then with any additional hails he just asks if want to "leave". Can Not get the eight additional updates. Una isnt there, maybe that is the problem?
this is not the first time I have to start the quest over.. and it only seems to bug at the end..

All these TDS progression missions require mercenary’s and mercenary’s cost plat and the kills drop very little to no loot. You need about twelve diamonds or equivalent per hour to maintain three merc’s and you do not get this doing these missions.

This mission is quite a slog but doable.
The first group of Combines is the worst since they are tightly packed and hard to pull in small numbers, however, if you gate or clear agro they will remain where they were and are then easier to deal with.
The later groups are much easier since they are spread out and can be picked off one at a time.
The Thuliasaur at the end was no sweat.

Just did this for the first time on my 114 ranger with merc. its slow but doable lot tougher than degmar ha sad thing no named spawned but I did get like 4 achievements doing it inc challenger. Well be back as I need some named to spawn. Im enjoying the darkened sea with my rng and merc its fun and challenging doing all the missions/quest/hunter as I go. 98.012 into 114 should be easier at 115.

Now complete box with newbies at around 96-98 managed to do the task in 3h and then at Thuliasaur, the big critter is KOS but does not attack. Task hangs at exactly this part.

Just did this mission and encountered the same bug as a couple of years ago.

While hailing Galeth you do get quest updates but you don't see emotes or shouts from Una Lucem or Praetor Venatos.
That's because Una isn't even there...he never spawned. So you can't hail him and you have no other option then to cancel the mission and start all over again...hoping it isn't bugged the next try.

I reported this bug at least 2 years ago but no one seems to care.

I just tried twice and Lyirae is not spawning to update the mission. She is not standing where she is supposed to be and she is also not on track. I'm guessing this is similar to your bug as well.

The first time I did this mission, my warrior was in mostly castaway armor, crappy augs and maybe 8kaa's. It was a challenge, but I made it through fine. Did again when I started a couple new boxes, was in mostly Highwater, better augs and more aa's and it was a little easier.

Just did again for a couple more new boxes. My warrior is as well geared as it gets for group gear, max aa, best group augs. I used my max lvl max AA cleric and enchanter, lvl105 wizard x2 with 9kaa's and my 105 rog with 8500aa. All of those are fairly well geared, certainly much better than my warrior was the first time I did this.

Completely unable to tank 2 of the combine mobs at once long enough to mez one with my enchanter. I am not even sure if you can mez them. I just hit AE mez and hope for the best. This usually works, but it didn't. Wiped a couple times, replaced enchanter with a healer merc for more healing and did a little better, but was unable to tank two mobs at once with a cleric and a merc healer long enough to kill one mob without blowing through NoTTB and Last STand....on trash mobs. This is stuff I did before with worse gear and lower aa's and had little trouble with.

Was about to give up, take a long break and reassess when I saw two combine mobs on the beach separate from the main gaggle. They were spaced far enough from each other that you can pull singles. Pulled one, killed it and with in 5 seconds another combine mob respawned in the same spot on the beach. So I just kept pulling from the one spot on the beach till task update. Not sure if it was a glitch or that's how it's always been and no one noticed/noted or if that's new. But yeah, just look for the two combine mobs on the beach and pull there if you have trouble dealing with two at once.

Basically two steps to this mission:

1.Kill 34 Combine mobs. This is just a grind. I dunno if they modified this instance in a patch since some of the earlier posts but they aren't hard to split, mostly come single and at worst they come in pairs. They can be mezzed, they can be snared, they can be rooted. Some do run kind of fast but nothing hard to deal with. I used snare/CoHero but any typical splitting strat would work. Some of them do have a lot of HPs---the tank types (reaver, vanguard)---but the rogue, ranger, caster and cleric types have a lot less. Any group that can handle trash on Thulisaur Island can deal with these mobs.

Actually you don't even need snare to split them. They freeze wherever they moved to if you clear agro. Since their assist-agro range is small, they can be split easily just by tagging them and using an agro-dropping technique, if you do get more than you want to handle all at once. I never had a mez resist, btw, so halfway thru I just started pulling pairs to save time.

The good news is they give good XP, unlike the quest mobs in the two previous non-instance progression missions on Dino Island. My toons got about 15% thru levels 102 and 103 just for killing the 34 mobs. Not horrible. This without LotD or any xp potion. (The mission itself gave 3-4% for completion.) 19% XP plus 2 nice chest loots (glowing briny essence and a raptor bone ring) in under 3 hours practically makes this worth pharming.

2. Of course, that's assuming you can handle the final encounter with the Thuliasaur. Took me 2 tries here because I got complacent when we got "Big Dino" down below 10% and an enrage killed our tank and forced the rest of the group to evac. Ouch! Fortunately, I had placed a campfire just out of his line of sight, on the hillside behind a couple of rock formations. Loc is 523,1874 or thereabouts. Thuliasaur spawns and fights at 889,1850. If you campfire into where I located it, you can move your forces to the blind side of a rock that is within healer-casting range of the boss. This spot is 697,1843. Then you can send your tank around to engage, heal safely from behind the rock and once the tank gets agro, send your casters out to nuke. Keep them more than 100-feet away and they won't take any rampage or aoe spell damage. At least mine did not. Watch for the enrage at the end. Second time I saved my warrior's FINAL STAND disc till 30% and it lasted the rest of the fight, saving me from using FURIOUS. Corpse recovery would be a b*tch here because the dino summons at 100% via line of sight agro so leave corpses to be rezzed after you win.

My enchanter couldn't slow him, even after tash and malo landed. Dunno if shaman slow can land...

Just came back post VOA. My main is a Warrior Raid gear t2 and my alts (sham, druid) are just mix of voa and TDS group gear. All are level 105 atm... Sham can and did slow with regenerating counterbias II. My box crew is rather DPS deficient lol... but we managed. Had druid, sham hide behind the trees til I had aggro...I hit projection of fury and let the wizzy mercs along with sham burn him down... I designated myself as puller til I hit Proj... so the mercs wouldn't come rushing out with me... Druid and Cleric merc had heals... I never burned Final or Fort. Sham group healed on aoe and cast a few HOTs... This fight was actually easier than the HA Rex fight.
Don't get me wrong... I did wipe twice trying to get a feel for it... but overall was easy...

Let first group of mobs stop moving and give them a couple minutes to sit around... After that they do not appear to be agro linked, but you will need to split them into singles (easy with Bard)...

Have your whole Group in the area and ready to fight on Boss MOB. If you wipe Boss MOB summons at 100% health with short range line of sight agro, pain in the butt to position toons for a kill after wipe...

The person below who posted a great write up, only had one difference from them today.

1. Yes the mobs at the beginning camp in many. As a matter of fact... I would pull 3.. I would COH myself and they would auto agro back (what the heck) so had to mez them (luckily)
-These mobs took the longest to kill.. as if they were like super ubar buffed

2. The next areas were all single pulls each time so maybe the 4 he was referring too, they unleashed.

The main mob... I left my guys far back. I stood at him, then did the hails (hailed to 6, then waited for him to appear non-agro).

Yes, Chest is spawned at the end of this mission. We got the shield "Guard of the Blood Raven"

Dru/Enc(105)+Mag(104) + Mage Pet Tank + 2x Caster Merc, 1x Healer Merc - every toon is only group geared, no raid equipment.
all other toons where task-added. So this seems a very good set for the whole expansion meanwhile.


The first 13 mobs to kill: are quite tricky at first.

The best: they don't see through invis.
The worst: not all can be mezzed and snare is not very slow and pacify does not work :(

We waited till the squad stopped. Then wie pulled the nearest with snare. We always got 1-2 adds which were easily manageable with Enchanter mezz. Then after 8 mobs the last pull aggroed all remaining 5 mobs. Enchanter got AE-Mezz off. The good side: 2 mobs were mezzed. The bad side: three mobs were unmezzable -> nice fast wipe. Druid had his "Preincarnation" running so we could log out and after login again we discovered that the whole squad was there again -> the whole squad is repopping after death.
So we cared a bit more and throw in root, snare is strangely not very efficient, mobs are moving fast even with snare. In combination with mezz it was no problem anymore.
Pull and send in mage pet, root/snare/mezz and kill one by one.

I assume in the heat of the "death" the unmezzables where (but not sure)
- squad leader
- a vanguard

Mobs with very fast kills:
- a burner

Nice thing because we could pull the mobs again 1-3 at once and mezz them. So if you don't want a stop in the kills take care about 3 unmezzable mobs (perhaps it was only bad luck).


Galeth did a short fight then stopped. We set up camp at the hill, to be able to have a view on all mobs. This time we pulled the nearest mob with Mage Servant and send in Mage pet.

- ALL mobs are easily single pulls


Combine Squad:

- most mobs are single pulls from the correct angle.
- the first 7 mobs we pulled on the hill side with no problem except the usual stupid mercs standing near the mob, get beating and occasional death due to dumb AI (no artificial but an awful intelligence)
- the 4 on the other side of the river are coming as twins (they don't like to fight alone it seems)
- snare, root, mezz sticked very well
- enchanter pet is also able to tank (since this expansion and the last the enchanter pet is meanwhile a monster ;))


The Thulisaur:

- follow Galeth with invis
- you come to a bunch of mobs and Una
- set up your camp on the hillside
- after a bit talk the Thulisaur kills all the mobs with one stomp
- then he charges you (after the last hail)

He is quite easy for a mage pet but the AE is really nice. Got the Damage Caster Mercs nearly down to about 30% but not a real problem. At about 9% he stopped fighting, went to UNA and got killed.
Some hails to Lyirae Oakwynd for the end dialogue and thats it - nearly 3 hours with that combo because of two really bad pulls at the beginning. The most difficult part is the first bunch of mobs. After that it is simply straigth forward rinse and repeat.

The a vanguards might not be mezzable - I did not try - but they took snare well and were run speed reduced normally, unlike the other models that I pulled. There are more npc's than you need for the kill count so you can choose to leave or preferentially pull the a vanguards and the squad leader.


I had no problem getting all four of the npc's on the other side of the river single, provided I took care with the pull angle.


It's hard to see how you would run the first part of this mission with out good crowd control or a very well geared tank. Once past the first part of the mission, though, you can send the enchanter home if you need to bring in another class for flagging. My group was Ranger (Tank), Mage & pet, Enchanter, Bard, Healer merc x 2. The mage pet tanked the end encounter flawlessly.

If you try to pull them while they are moving north, they appear to be agro linked. Once they stop, they are single pullable, but, the next group may pop on top of them before the stop updates in the quest, and they will be agro linked. After the second group moved away I was able to start single pulling the last two from the original group, only to have the second group come in and smash my group when I had the mob down to 10%.
