This solo task is the third in a series of four. It begins with Vasser Fayeil (click for map image) in Argin-Hiz.

Pre-Requisites:
- Level 85
- Completion of "Burning Curiosity"
- Completion of "The Reclusive Collector"

Say "promise" to request the task.







You say, 'Hail, Vasser Fayeil'

Vasser Fayeil examines his recently returned ring in detail, 'This band has seen better days. The metal is dull and the setting empty, but it still holds so much sentimental value.' The shopkeeper sighs, 'I realize I will need to part with this ring in order for you to do what you came here to do, but before I hand it over, can you [promise] me to help Nara escape before you enter Keeper's Hall? Once they find out we've aided you, they will come for her.

You say, 'I promise'

Vasser Fayeil forces a faint smile, 'Very well then. The ring won't do you much good in its current state. I'll have to repair it before it can be used to access Keeper's Hall. I can reshape the band with a chunk of solenium and fill the setting with moltenite. Both of these materials can be found within our mines, but are fairly rare. Return to me once you have the items and I can start to repair the ring.

You have been assigned the task 'The Keeper's Ring'.

Reparing the Keeper's Ring is your ticket to entering the Keeper's Hall.



Loot a Chunk of Solenium from laborers within the mines 0/1 (Argin-Hiz)

Loot Moltenite from laborers within the mines 0/1 (Argin-Hiz)

These items drop from "a laborer" (found throughout the mines). You must be on this step for them to drop. They appear to be common.



Bring the Chunk of Solenium to Vasser Fayeil 0/1 (Argin-Hiz)

Bring the Moltenite to Vasser Fayeil 0/1 (Argin-Hiz)

Vasser Fayeil takes the Chunk of Solenium from you and begins to work on repairing the band.

Vasser Fayeil takes the Moltenite from you and begins to cut and shape it so that it fits within the ring's setting.

Speak to Vasser 0/1 (Argin-Hiz)

You say, 'Hail, Vasser Fayeil'

Vasser Fayeil puts the finishing touches on his work as he speaks, 'Unfortunately, I wasn't able to repair the ring. It was too damaged to recover. The good news is, after combining the materials you brought me with the smelted down band I was able to create two new rings. You may keep one, as promised, but I was hoping you could deliver the other to Nara before you help her [escape].

You receive 2x "Keeper's Ring" (one for the task, and one for you).

At this point, you now have access to the Keeper's Tower (the large structure in the northwestern part of the zone).

You say, 'Escape? What?'

Vasser Fayeil frowns, his eyes filled with worry, 'You remember your promise, don't you? You said you'd help Nara flee this land. Please, you must help my daughter escape Argin-Hiz before the Keepers come for her.'



Deliver a Keeper's Ring to Nara Fayeil 0/1 (Argin-Hiz)

Nara Fayeil (click for map image) is found at the north end of the zone-in field.

Nara Fayeil fights back tears as she places the tiny band on her finger, 'I know it's not my mother's ring, but I can still feel her presence when I wear it.'

Speak to Nara 0/1 (Argin-Hiz)

You say, 'Hail, Nara Fayeil'

Nara Fayeil smiles at you with hope in her eyes, 'You came back to help me flee this place, didn't you? Vasser said you'd be my escort beyond the forest. What about [Faldern]? Did he mention him, too?'

You say, 'Who is Faldern? There was no 'Faldern' in this deal'

Nara Fayeil says 'Faldern is one of my only friends here. We used to explore the forests together until the Keepers took him away to work the mines. I can't leave him behind to die. I promise he won't be any trouble. Just let him know that we plan to escape. That's all I ask.'



Find Faldern and fill him in on the escape plan 0/1 (Argin-Hiz)

Faldern Yvell is found in the far southern part of the mines (/loc 0, -1685, -226).

You say, 'Hail, Faldern Yvell'

Faldern Yvell wipes his brow, 'Nara sent you, did she? I'm glad to know she's safe, but... she's not really thinking of escaping, is she? The Keepers would kill us both if we got caught!' Faldern sighs, 'But I guess I'd just die in these mines anyway. I might as well take the risk. Let's [meet] at Vasser's shop.

Argin-Hiz is now available to you.

At this time, you are assigned an expedition. Say "meet" to zone into the instanced zone.



Meet Faldern and Nara at Vasser's shop 0/1 (Argin-Hiz)

Here, you'll enter your very own expedition/instance. Lucky you.

Note: In order to zone in, you have to be on this very step in the task (meaning, if you want help from other players, they must be on this step as well).

This task step updates upon entry.

Escort Nara and Faldern safely out of the city 0/1 (Argin-Hiz)

Kill any troopers that stand in your way 0/7 (Argin-Hiz)

You need to make it to /location -1400, 1000, -348 (about three-quarters the way through the zone-in field area). There are multiple "an ember trooper" mobs in the area - clear these away (these hit for a max ~15,500 and are mezzable and stunnable).

Once the troopers are dead, hail Faldern Yvell in order to get him to follow you like a pet.

You say, 'Hail, Faldern Yvell'

Faldern Yvell says 'Nara and I are ready to leave this place whenever you are. Just lead the way, _____.'

There are numerous creatures found in the zone-in field, but they don't aggro the NPCs and you can invis past them. Once you get to the update point, the NPCs stop.

Faldern Yvell comes to a stop and screams, 'Nara, wait! Something's wrong...' The fire elf shivers as his skin turns a damp grey color. 'It's? so? cold.'

Nara Fayeil cries out as she rushes toward her friend, 'Faldren! Are you okay?'

Faldern Yvell shivers and falls silently to the ground, his inner fire completely extinguished causing his body to turn to ash.

Faldern Yvell says 'Please don't forget me. I tried...'
Faldern Yvell died.

"Ashen Remains" spawns (KOS, but NOT auto-aggro).



Defeat the Ashen Remains 0/1 (Argin-Hiz)

Its melee power appears to be slightly less than that of the troopers you fought earlier. Like the other mobs, the Ashen Remains is mezzable and stunnable. It is recommended you pull it away from its spawn location as there are multiple animals that path by its location.

Ashen Remains has been slain by _____!
The small shards of stone composing the dervish fall lifelessly to the floor.



Speak to Nara 0/1 (Argin-Hiz)

You say, 'Hail, Nara Fayeil'

Nara Fayeil sobs as she stands over the pile of ash, 'Faldern, no... How can this be?' The heartbroken fire elf looks up at you with teary eyes, 'How could he simply turn to ash? This isn't right.' Nara glances down at her warm skin, 'I should be ash, too, shouldn't I? We need to [return] to my father. He'll be able to make some sense of this.'

You say, 'I wish to return'

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered Argin-Hiz.

You appear back in the non-instanced version of the zone.



Return to Vasser to tell him what happened 0/1 (Argin-Hiz)

You say, 'Hail, Vasser Fayeil'

Vasser Fayeil tries to remain calm as you recount the events that took place when trying to escape, 'How can it be that Faldern turned to ash? Someone can't just die from leaving the city, can they? Have the Keeper's known this all along?' The shopkeeper's eyes light up, 'They have! Their rings, they must serve as some sort of protection. That explains why Faldern perished but Nara was able to survive leaving the city.'

You helped Vasser recreate rings that protect fire elves from turning to ash when they leave the city.

as a beastlord ( barbarian at least ) no animals attack me, so i could happily kill the ashen remains without any bother of the animals there.

There is only 2 drops to get : 1 chunck, one moltenite.
The included mission was not too hard to molo with a 105SK + cleric, as the 7 embers to kill can be singled pulled. Then hail the guy, invis and get into the field and burn the last mob.

In the mines, you need double-invis to move since there are skells as well as laborers and guards. The guards wander the corridors, too, so watch your back. A great spot to camp is inside a large room at about 332, -1608, -241. No static spawns in that spot, no wanderers come by and you can clear the whole room which contains several laborers. Took about 40 minutes to get the 12 drops required.

Died in the instance step killed 2/7 ... anyone know if I can I zone back in another day or do I need to start from scratch?

Dropped expedition, had everyone hail in the mines, redid it, it updated for all.

Seems to get bugged if one person has hailed him, but the others in the group have not, I got them to follow me all over, but never got the final update.

In particular, the person in group that hailed Faldern to get the expedition was not the same one that hailed him inside the expedition. Only the person who hailed him to get the expedtion got the updates, but they never would stop in the field outside the city to spawn the mob.

Word of advice, pull the Remains to a safe area because the spot where it spawns is also an area rose vipers like to wander. In just five seconds three of them piled on, and I was just moloing so it went south quick.

Also, Nara and Faldern act like pets, but don't help in fighting, nor do I think they even get attacked. They just might get in the way so it's easier to kill the ember troopers first before making them follow.
