Full Walkthrough

Power of the Orb

Rykas is a gnome in a yellow robe in Lake Rathetear, who may be found at approximately +950, -650.

You say, 'Hail, Rykas'

Rykas says 'Greetings ______, I am Rykas, chronicler of knowledge. I have journeyed all throughout the lands of Norrath, and I have learned many tales of adventure from people I have encountered during my travels. I have learned of legends known and unknown to most mortals. Are you in search of knowledge?'

You say, 'I am in search of knowledge.'

Rykas says 'A small task is needed if you wish to learn more. Do you wish to learn the tale of Magi'kot?'

You say, 'I wish to learn the tale of Magi'kot.'

Rykas says, 'If you seek to learn the tale of Trilith Magi'kot, your journey shall begin in the Commonlands. Search for Jahsohn Ak'sot and give him this token. He will share some of the knowledge I have bestowed upon him, and point you further down your path to Mastery. Bring me the Words of Mastery, Power of the Elements, and the Words of Magi'kot....Then you shall learn more about the power of the orb.'

You receive a Token of Mastery.

Words of Magi`kot

Now find Jahsohn Ak`sot (note slightly different spelling) in the western Commonlands, who wanders in the general vicinity of +60, +3640.

You say, 'Hail, Jahsohn Ak`sot'

Jahsohn Ak`sot says 'Greetings, ______.'

Give him the token.

Jahsohn Ak`sot says 'What is this? I cannot believe you found it! Where did you get this?'
You gain experience!!

You say, 'Rykas sent me.'

Jahsohn Ak`sot says 'I have not heard of anyone speaking that name out loud in years. Rykas once shared a tale with me, though I have lived with fear in my mind ever since. He told me afterwards that I did not have the balance I thought I had. Have you come for the Words of Magi'kot?'

You say, 'I have come for the Words of Magi'kot.'

Jahsohn Ak`sot says 'The Words of Magi'kot can only be shared with those elementalists whose minds are of balance. The Words were separated into three pieces by a high council of Magi who feared that the story would bring an end to elementalists throughout Norrath. If you feel you wish to read from the sacred Power of the Orb then an elementalist of such power should easily accomplish this task.'

You say, 'What task?'

Jahsohn Ak`sot says 'Bring me the torn pages of Magi'kot. The first section can be found in the depths of a tainted forest, warded by an angry lupine. It is also rumored that one section is found in the haunted estate of a murderer, on a many armed creature. The last may be found in the belly of an amphibian who thirsts for blood.'

You now need Torn Page(s) of Magi`kot pg. 1-3. Page 1 drops in Kithicor Forest from the level 40 Enraged Dread Wolf or dread wolf that spawns at night. Page 2 drops in the Estate of Unrest from the tentacle terrors and dark terrors found in the basement. Page 3 drops in Lower Guk from bloodthirsty ghouls and the frenzied ghoul. Give all three words to Jahsohn.

Jahsohn Ak`sot says 'Have you forgotten something, ______?'

Jahsohn Ak`sot says 'Have you forgotten something, ______?'

Jahsohn Ak`sot says 'Rykas may have been right about you, ______. Now, go find Walnan. Walnan was apprenticed to a very powerful Mage. After her apprenticeship was complete, she wished to begin teaching other beings of Norrath. Even those who knew nothing of the art! I do not believe she was successful, though. Seek her out to further your tale. Good luck in your journeys, ______!'

You receive the Words of Magi`kot.

Power of the Elements

Now find Walnan, a female high elf in purple in the Butcherblock Mountains. She wanders the path from the docks to Kaladim.

You say, 'Hail, Walnan'

Walnan says 'Hallo ______! I am Walnan, elementalist, summoner, wanderer, and sometimes teacher. Might you be a elementalist in search of the truth?'

You say, 'I am in search of the truth.'

Walnan says 'The truth is something not all people can handle or understand. If the truth of the elements is what you seek then the Power of the Elements shall reveal all. Have you come to learn of Magi'kot?'

You say, 'I have come to learn of Magi'kot.'

Walnan says 'Magi'kot was the most powerful elementalist of his age. He may have been the most powerful mortal mage of all time, such was his mastery. He wished to obtain infinite knowledge and wisdom in order to further expand the arcane art of Summoning. Do you know what became of Magi'kot?'

You say, 'No.'

Walnan says 'Only a few elementalists and followers outside our circle know what truly happened to Magi'kot. Even now, many are fearful to speak of his name. If you truly wish to continue, here is what you must do. Gather the Power of the Earth, warded by a fae creature. Then seek the Power of Fire, held by an elemental. Next you will need the Power of Wind, held by a twirling and prancing wanderer who has been corrupted. Finally, the Power of Water, held by a ravenous beast who is the minion of a fallen Sarnak. Bring them all to me, and I shall give you the Power of the Elements.'

The Power of Earth drops from A Fairy Guard in Lesser Faydark. The Power of Fire drops from blazing elementals and lava elementals in Solusek A, aka Solusek's Eye. The Power of Wind drops from A Gypsy Dancer in Mistmoore Castle, found in the ballroom of the castle. The Power of Water drops from various mobs in Kaesora. Give all four to Walnan.

Walnan says 'Wait, ______, are you not forgetting something?'

Walnan says 'Wait, ______, are you not forgetting something?'

Walnan says 'Wait, ______, are you not forgetting something?'

Walnan says 'The arcane art of Summoning is derived from the power of the elements which surround us. Continue your journey across the Ocean of Tears. In a dark fortress, you should find Akksstaf lurking about. Be wary, but tell him that you seek Magi'kot. Hurry now ______, you do not wish to miss the ship!'
You gain experience!!

You receive Power of the Elements.

Words of Mastery

The dark fortress Walnan spoke of is Najena, whose entrance is found in the Lavastorm Mountains. Akksstaff is a male dark elf in a green-brown robe who wanders Najena. He has a relatively long spawn time of anywhere from a couple of hours to a couple of days.

You say, 'Hail, Akksstaff'

Akksstaff says 'What do you want?! Foolish Human, I am in no mood to treat with beggars. I have half a mind to turn Jobober here loose on you! Well, don't keep me waiting, state your business or be off with you!'

You say, 'Tell me about Magi'kot.'

Akksstaff says 'Ah, that I can help you with. Magi'kot was a powerful elementalist, able to control the power of the elements which surrounded him. He was not able to fully master the elements when I was learning from him, but soon after my departure I heard rumors that he was going after the Orb of Mastery. At the time, I did not feel he was ready to harness all the elements, but Magi'kot listened to no one. He was in search of power beyond any held by a mortal. Do you wish to hear more?'

You say, 'I wish to hear more.'

Akksstaff says 'Then bring me the torn pages of Mastery, there are four pages that can be found upon the women In this keep, though have a care, Najena's followers guard her treasures carefully, and delight in punishing trespassers.'

The four pages drop randomly off various magicians, goblin magicians, Rathyl, Rathyl Incarnate (spawned after Rathyl is killed), etc., and may be found throughout Najena. Gather all four and give them to Akksstaff.

Akksstaff says 'Very well. Take these words back to that shriveled old gnome, Rykas, if you wish to complete this quest. Now leave me, ______, it sickens me to be this cordial for so long. And Jobober needs exercise. Go!'

You receive Words of Mastery.

Power of the Orb

Return to Rykas in Lake Rathetear, and give him Words of Magi`kot, Power of the Elements, and Words of Mastery.

Rykas says 'I see that you have completed the quest I laid before you. That speaks well of your dedication, yet you do not realize your journey has just begun. Study this tome.'
You gain experience!!

You receive Power of the Orb, which reads as follows:

"An elementalist's power comes from the Orb of Mastery. The Elements of Earth, Fire, Wind and Water are contained within the orb. The Master of Elements holds the Orb.

"He can be found within the Plane of Sky. No mortal has been able to contain the true power of the Orb.

"Trilith Magi'kot presented himself to the Master of Elements and the Orb of Mastery. The power of elements brought agony to his mind and body. Magi'kot was not of Balance.

"Fire burned his eyes unto blindness, Wind put his mind into a spin, Earth entered his body and aged him like the mountains, and finally, Water washed his memories of mortal life away.

"Failing his test, the Orb exacted its terrible price, and now Magi'kot is part of the Orb.

"The bearer of this tome should seek out the Master of Fire and present it to him, for there is much left to be revealed."

Element of Fire

The Master of Fire is Jennus Lyklobar, who may be found in Skyfire Mountains.

You say, 'Hail, Jennus Lyklobar'

Jennus Lyklobar says 'Hello and well met! Humans like you don't often come here.. Do you come seeking what I possess? Fire, fire, fire and fire is mine! I surround myself with fire, I bathe in fire, I consume fire, I am the Master of Fire! Hahahaha, but I digress. Have you come for the element of Fire, seeking to fall to the same fate as Trilith Magi'kot?'

You say, 'I have come for the element of Fire.'

Jennus Lyklobar says 'The Element of Fire I can provide you, but you must prove you are able to contain its power. Bring me the Torch of the Elements now kept by a doomed lord of merchants, the burning embers from a notable member of wurmkind who can be found a short journey from here and a blazing wand, which you should be familiar with. And you must surrender the tome Rykas gave you. But I think you would be happier if you stayed with me and learned more of the beauty of the one true element, FIRE! FIRE! Hahahahahahah!'

Obtain the following items: Torch of the Elements (dropped by Neh`Ashirr in City of Mist), Burning Embers (dropped by Phurzikon, Nezekezena, or Gylton, named wurms in Burning Woods), and Blazing Wand (dropped by Undertow in Kedge Keep). Give these three items along with Power of the Orb to Jennus.

Jennus Lyklobar says 'I see that you are well versed in the ways of Fire. Indeed, if you are as adept in the other, lesser elements, you may just seize the Orb of Mastery after all, and avoid Magi'kot's fate. Take this element, and guard it well, for more trials are to come, I assure you. Succeed and you shall be remembered always! Oh, and ______? Watch out for the puddles! HAHAHAHAHAHA!'
You gain experience!!

You receive Element of Fire.

Element of Earth

Seek out Tiblner Mil`nik in Firiona Vie. He's a male high elf in a brown robe wandering near the cliff.

You say, 'Hail, Tiblner Mil`nik'

Tiblner Mil`nik says 'Huh? What? Oh, you speak so fast, it took me a moment. I have become used to the slow and stately conversation the Earth holds, where a thought can span aeons. I am the Master of Earth, you know. Though I'm usually too humble to say this, that makes me the most powerful mortal in Norrath, as everyone knows that Earth is the only REAL Element, all else must give way before its power. Water is absorbed by it, Air is ignored by it, and Fire is contained in it. But you know all these things, I am sure. Are you interested in obtaining the Element of Earth? I know Magi'kot was, but we know what happened to him, don't we?'

You say, 'I have come for the element of earth.'

Tiblner Mil`nik says 'Combining the following items can bring the Element of Earth together. Obtain the Staff of Elemental Mastery: Earth, held by the minions of the Prince of Hate, The Dirt of Underfoot found on Slix something or the other, and of course, I shall need the Broom of Trilon and the Shovel of Ponz. Bring all these things, and I shall show you what a true Master of Earth can do, and gift you with the Element of Earth.'

The Staff of Elemental Mastery: Earth is an uncommon drop from one of the mini-bosses in the Plane of Hate, Magi P`Tasa. Dirt of Underfoot is a rare drop from Slixin Klex in the Burning Woods. The Broom of Trilon and Shovel of Ponz are the results of quests available through the Temple of Solusek Ro. Give all four items to Tiblner.

Tiblner Mil`nik says 'Take this Element and keep it with you. I wish you the best in your journey, but I must ask you to leave me now, this frantic pace you set makes me nervous.'
You gain experience!!

You receive Element of Earth.

Element of Water

Find Jinalis Andir, an erudite female in blue robes at approximately -600, -2000 in Dagnor's Cauldron.

You say, 'Hail, Jinalis Andir'

Jinalis Andir says 'Let us dispense with pleasantries, ______. I am Jinalis, as you know. I imagine you want to control the Elements. The Element of Water, which I possess, is the most powerful of the Elements. With it you can control the water which falls from the Air, erodes the Earth, and extinguishes Fire. It is a pity you do not focus on the Prime Element, but if you wish to follow that fool Magi'kot to your doom, I will not stop you. Bring me the Staff of Elemental Mastery: Water held by the last of the Kedge, the Tears of Erollisi held by a dirty and rotten officer across the Blessed Deep, and finally, the Rain of Karana, found on a mighty Giant in, where else, the Karanas.'

The Staff of Elemental Mastery: Water is a rare drop from Phinigel Autropos in Kedge Keep. Rain of Karana drops every time from Tarbul Earthstrider in Eastern Karana. He has a placeholder of "a rogue lion." Tears of Erollisi drop from Captain Rottgrime at the outpost in The Overthere. Give the three items to Jinalis.

Jinalis Andir says 'You have the control needed in order to manipulate the water which surrounds us. Take this Element and guard it well, you will need it in the times to come.'
You gain experience!!

You receive Element of Water.

Element of Wind

Find Kihun Solstin, a human male in white in the quest room below the first island in the Plane of Sky.

You say, 'Hail, Kihun Solstin'

Kihun Solstin says 'So, you have made it this far. I am Kihun Solstin, the Master of Wind. I control the unfettered Element like none other. As you should have learned, Air is the most potent of Elements. It fuels Fire, Water is comprised of it, and Earth cannot restrain it. Knowing this, do you seek the Element of Wind?'

You say, 'I seek the element of Wind.'

Kihun Solstin says 'I will test you then. In this wondrous plane of Air [editor's note: now Sky], find the Crown of Elemental Mastery, and search the world below for an Elemental Binder, and a cloak fashioned from the feathers of a Pegusus. Return them to me and I shall give you the Element of Wind.'

The Crown of Elemental Mastery is a rare drop from any mob on the seventh island in the Plane of Sky. Elemental Binders drop from Elemental Warriors in The Hole. The Pegasus Feather Cloak is a very rare drop from a rare spawn, Quillmane, found in Southern Karana. By all accounts this is the most difficult piece to get. Give the three items to Kihun.

Kihun Solstin says 'If you have obtained the other, lesser Elements, go speak with The Master of Elements, who is now waiting for you. I wish you luck. If you have not completed all the tasks set for you, let me know, and I shall let you see the Master.'
You gain experience!!

You receive Element of Wind.

Orb of Mastery

After receiving the Element of Wind, Master of Elements will spawn in the Plane of Sky. If for some reason he has despawned, you can always get him to respawn by talking to Kihun Solstin and saying, "I want to see the master."

You say, 'Hail, Master of Elements'

Master of Elements says 'I... am... the... Master... of... Elements.. Elements... Forgive... me. I am... unaccustomed.. to.. speaking.. this.. mortal... tongue. Might.. you... be... the... One?'

You say, 'I am the One'

Master of Elements says 'Trilith... Magi'kot.. knelt.. before.. the.. orb.. in.. his.. his.. last.. few.. moments... of.. mortal.. life. He... too... believed.. that.. he.. had.. the.. power.. and.. balance.. needed.. to.. grasp... control.. of.. the.. elements. He.. was.... flawed. Coming.. to... me... is.. a.. matter.. of.. no.. small.. import. Only.. only... one.. who.. is.. of.. balance.. and.. power... power.. may.. control.. the.. Orb.. of... Mastery. Give.... give.. me.. the.. Elements.. you.. have... gathered.. and.. I.. shall.. see.. if.. you.. are.. ready.. ready.. to control.. the... Elements.. of... life.. life.. life.'

Give it the Element of Fire, the Element of Earth, the Element of Water, and the Element of Wind.

Master of Elements says 'You... are.. balanced... and.. powerful.. for.. a.. mortal... ______ ..... ______ . More.. so.. than.... Magi'kot. But.... you.. are.. not.. yet.. ready.. to.. transcend.. transcend... this.. mortal.. coil. Take.. take.. seize.. this.. Orb... for.. you.. are.. worthy.. of.. reward.. and.. with... the.. aid.. of... the... balance.. balance.. contained.. within.. the.. Orb.. you.. may.. yet.. reach.. the... ultimate... Mastery.'

You receive Spell: Summon Orb. Scribe it immediately and cast it to summon your new epic weapon, the Orb of Mastery.

Dirt of Underfoot

Has anyone tried handing Tiblner Soil of Underfoot? Soil of Underfoot is a component in making Ronium, which is then used to craft Armor of Ro. You get Soil of Underfoot by giving 4 faerie dusts to the Cleric guildmaster in Kaladim (need amiable faction).

This is probably not the correct item, but just an idea since soil and dirt are essentially the same thing.

I would have to say no to this one, simply because it doesn't follow the current pattern of things:

a) Everything is gotten off of new NPCs
or
b) Even if it is gotten off an old NPC you still have to kill it to get the item, which was not in it's loot table until the patch

And remember who we are dealing with here. Soil and Dirt may be essentially the same thing, but Verant plays the game of symantics (words that mean the same while still being different words) very well. Best bet is to stick with trying to kill the Guy in the Hole, which by coincidence used to be called The Plane of Underfoot.

OK, got a suggestion for you guys. Earlier on, someone posted that Slix dropped the dirt of underfoot. Recently I've spent alot of time in Burning Woods, and there is a named skelly in the crater named Slix (forgot the surname). This could possibly be where it drops. I didn't kill him at all last night cause before the recent patch, he hadn't dropped anything. I'll go back today and check it out though.

Slixin in BW is NOT part of the Mage FA quest. He's part of the Veeshans Peaks Key Quest. Just so you don't get your hopes up and/or waste your time. (c:

General Idea of the Quest

What all summaries lag is the epic idea of the Quest, so here some thoughts about that.
Well to me it seems that Magì'kot is kind of historical source to the desired item.
What do we know: He did not accepted any Element to be the best (told by 2 of the guessed 4 Masters). And this decision was his doom. So most probably he isn't himself involved in the Quest.
Following this logic we need something more than Magi'kot had. Well Rykas promised to give something to learn more about the power of the orb. This wisdom (held in a tome ?) requires Magi'kots word, Word of Mastery (something Magi'kot possible lagged and that lead to his doom) and Power of Elements. What is the last one ? In my guess another book or scroll.
This part should be able to be solved by following the trail currently stuck at Walnan, a female Teacher which most probably know about the Word of Mastery.
How do the Masters of each Element fit into this ?
Sorry no clue, the point that the Master of Fire wants Rykas tome really screwed me up by now.
I think we have found only small parts of the whole Epic story to be revealed, but lets go on....

Walnan says 'Hallo Fenelia! I am Walnan, elementalist, summoner, wanderer, and sometimes teacher. Might you be a elementalist in search of the truth?

You say, 'Yes, I am in search of the truth'

Walnan says 'The truth is something not all people can handle or understand. If the truth of the elements is what you seek then the Power of the Elements shall reveal all. Have you come to learn of Magi'kot?

Recap Of Day 2
# Sep 21 2000 at 2:16 AM Rating: Good
Has anyone else noticed that we're by far and away the class most done with their quest?

For those of you joining our program mid-broadcast here's what we have so far (compiled from various sites and personal experience):

Prologue-

Find Rykas in Lake Rathe, he is on an island with a single aviak spawn. He wants you to deliver a coin. Jahsohn Aksot in West Commons accepts the coin and will tell you of the words of magi'kot, and where they are located.

Magi'kot words-

Short walk to Kithikor, dread wolves drop page 1. About one in four seemed to have it for us (During our run of the zone we killed 16 and got 5, so that's pretty on). Easily soloable post 50 (what you need to begin quest anyway)

Port to unrest, go to basement, dark terrors and tentacle terrors hold page 2. We got 2 in 2 kills.

Port to South Ro and head to lower guk. Bloodthirsty goblins are soloable but difficult if you are low 50s. This should be done in groups of two or three, it is signifigantly easier to get in and you have a chance for multiple bloodthirsties each spawn. They drop page 3. Also got 2 in 2 kills.

Return all the pages to Aksot. He gives you a single word of magi'kot.

Earth-

Go to Firiona Vie. Wandering Mage called Tiblner. He gives the Earth quest, you need.

Earth Mastery Staff- Innoruuk
Shovel Of Ponz and Broom Of Trilon- Sol Ro Quests
Dirt of Underfoot- A very reasonable suggest is slizek the mighty in the hole. It has confirmed to drop in the hole, as a guild got some during a raid.

Water-

Dagnor's Cauldron. Jinalis Andir gives the water quest.

Water Mastery Staff- Phinigel Atropos, Kedge
Rain of Karana- Named Hill Giant in East Karana, confirmed this myself too. Two mages and a Necro got him to spawn twice in 15 mins by clearing the hill with our pets. Easy win for us, he hits for 100 and has a TON of life, so this is another situation when it is beneficial to bring many mages and just stay there till you have it. He spawns on the large hill by the farmhouses. Kill hill giants, hill denizens, and once killed a rogue lion (never saw it before) to make him spawn. Rogue could possibly be another rare he shares the table with.
Tears of Erollisi- Confirmed (but not by me) to drop off Captain Rottgrime in The Overthere. You're gonna need some firepower here because multiple mobs tend to come and he's no cakewalk by himself. Consider a full high level group if no enchanter.

Fire-

Skyfire Mountains. Jennus Lykobar is a rare wandering NPC. Likes to hang out by blue orb (near burning woods). After killing many things in the zone he still didn't spawn for us, which leads me to believe this is a timed spawn rather than a rare on a spawn table. The fire objects are still undiscovered so I'll proffer some hints.

"Bring me the Torch of the Elements now kept by a doomed lord of merchants..."

My guess would be something in City of Mist? I have heard of new spawns there and no other place seems to fit.

"...the burning embers of a notable member of wyrmkind who can be found a short journey from here..."

Named wyrm in Burning Woods. Pretty sure of this.

"...and a blazing wand, which you should be familiar with..."

Common drop off of Undertow of Kedge keep.

"... And you must surrender the tome rykas gave you..."

This one is rough. If Rykas wants the words of magi'kot and mastery and proof of your elemental mastery, doesn't that mean his quest would require this to be solved?

So our unknowns are slowly dwindling:

Where is Walnan?
Where is the Air Master?
Where is the Torch Of The Elements?
and Who holds the Words of Mastery?

It's only Day 2, but I think we're on the home stretch.

No the poster of the source site specifically said Underfoot, because he (a monk sadly) still had it in his possession. Holy Dirt of Brell is one of four pieces of a Hole only quest.

If you are indeed correct that the Lord of CoM drops the Torch, this will be a very easy part of the quest. After it wiped my entire guild's raid we sent in two buffed 49 fire pets (yes we all know how bad the 52 is) and backed them with two clerics. Nobody had to cast except the clerics, the fire pets finished the mob themselves. Also keep in mind there are 3 different lords and they do not fight the same (to my knowledge)

quick corrections for the guy who posted this.

"Dirt of Underfoot- A very reasonable suggest is slizek the mighty in the hole. It has confirmed to drop in the hole, as a guild got some during a raid. "

This is not confirmed. Holy Dirt of Brell drops in the Hole off random mobs, but it does not work for the quest, as the guy did not reply when i handed it to him. If a guild has killed Slizek and got some, then i could be wrong, but you said they got some, so i am willing to say they got Dirt of Brell, not Dirt of Underfoot.

I am thinking the torch drops off of the Lord in CoM, cast an AE 850 damage Fire based DD every 12 secs.

""...the burning embers of a notable member of wyrmkind who can be found a short journey from here..."
Named wyrm in Burning Woods. Pretty sure of this."

I think that this piece actually comes off of either the Ancient wurm, near VP. Or one of the New level 55 Dragons, there is a red fire one in Skyfire. The reason i dont think it is a normal named wurm is because they are too dam easy and the guy says "notable member of wyrmkind"

# Sep 20 2000 at 10:59 PM Rating: Default
Who is this Magi'kot anyways? The quest guys seem to dislike him or disapprove of something he did. I wonder if this is an NPC of sorts.

Also should mention that pg.1 of magi'kot's torn note drops off dread wolves and enraged dread wolves. Similarly, both frenzy and bloodthirsty frogs drop pg. 3.

I sure hope we don't have to get the Air Mastery staff from PoA for this.. (my 2 cents).

This is just my speculating, not confirmed in any way. But what would all mages love? Having all 4 pets at the same time. Now we know more than one isn't allowed, nor will it ever change. But imagine if all 4 were combined!

Mayhap the weapon is right-clickable or procs a massive elemental with powers of all 4! Monstrous hitpoints, damage shield, stunner (with damage), backstabber!

I found this on another website and thought it would be best to be posted here. I dont know if it is part of the magician FA quest though...

In Rathe Mountains today with a friend. We came across "A Tainted Hill Giant". Well we did what we always do to hill giants.... we killed it. As it fell it sort of peeled away from yet another hill giant left standing in its place. This one was called "A Corrupted Hill Giant". We backe dup just a bit and this one didn't immediately agro on us. We medded to full while it stood there looking around. Then we killed that one too. No cash loot, but it DID drop "An Ancient Rock". It has no stats. It weighs 0.1. It's MAGIC LORE NODROP. Don't think I've seen this before...

Appearently I was wrong, while scanning some other boards the Mage in Lake Rathe can't be skipped. While he gives a quick "lead-in" type quest he is also the last person, or at least the one who holds the orb.

His name is Rykas (Thus the Rykas hail works on the commons guy). He asks for the Words of the Magi'kot, the words of mastery, and the power of the elements, then you shall "learn more of the power of the orb."

We have magi'kot. Mastery comes from Walnan (the female mage off teaching magic) I would assume. That leaves the power of the elements. Fire has once again been confirmed in skyfire. Earth and water are known. We probably need someone to tie up all the elements somehow.

Prevailing winds seem to think that Walnan would be found in one of the areas where Magicians can't be found, half-elves, trolls, ogres, barbarians etc...

I've been all over and before I leave for classes for the day I thought I would post as much to help everyone as possible, so think of this as a summary of what is known so far:

The quest starts with Rykas in the mountains (whether frontier or rathe I don't know but it isn't really important, see below). He is very tight lipped but fortunatly you seem to be able to get around him by just going to Jahsohn Aksot in West Commons. This is where the TRUE test starts. He asks for three magi'kot pages.

Page 1: Kithikor, Dread Wolves
Page 2: Tentacle Terrors, Unrest
Page 3: Bloodthirsty Ghouls, Lower Guk

Return all three pages and you get a single lore no drop page in return, he then tells you to seek out a former apprentice mage (a female appearently) who now scours the world to teach her art.

I believe it is from this mage that you finally unlock the quest item, but that is just my opinion.

So what does that NPC want? Probably what the other people in the quest are tied to.

Tiblner Milnik in Firiona Vie follows the school of Earth. He will unlock the Elemental of Earth for you if you bring him the staff of elemental mastery, Earth, The Dirt of Underfoot, the Broom of Trilon, and the Shovel of Ponz.

The Earth Elemental staff used to drop off Innoruuk but now seems to drop off some other inhabitant of hate (or perhaps just someone who follows innoruuk). The Dirt of Underfoot would most likely now drop off Slix The Mighty (He says "Slix something or other") in The Hole. The broom and shovel quests are from solusek ro and are well documented.

Jilanis Andir in Dagnor's Cauldron asks for the staff from the last of kedge, tears of erolisi from a rotten officer across the blessed deep, and the rain of karana from a giant in the karanas.

Clearly this one asks for the water staff from Phin, the rain of karana comes off Trabul earthstrider, a new tough mob (50ish) in East Karana. There is conjecture as to the tears. The blessed deep could mean just about any water-laden zone. However, the Vasty Deep near erudin is considered holy to them. Considering the undead that guard Paineel this would be my guess, remember it says "across" rather than in, and from someone standing in Dagnor's this is an adequate way to describe a long trip.

So we have the masters of earth and water.

A third mage has been found in Skyfire near the Burning Woods entrance. Nobody thought enough to hail appearently. If we can consider this the master of fire that leaves only the master of air.

However, I believe that the master of air and the final quest NPC are one and the same. If there are four different mastery orbs to find then what good is the lore no drop page? No quest can turn in more than four components at once (Even the Veeshan's Peak quest, which requires ten items (12 if you count the key to get in sebilis) requires that only four be turned in at a time to NPCs)

So I would think that it all comes together in the Plane of Air or some other locale where this final Mage is. Furthermore keep in mind that the earth quest has you turn in the air focus item. (I'd also bring your stein along if you plan on completing the water one, it doesn't say it but no reason not to be like that)

I think all further inquiries into the location of the rod bearing NPC be directed at places which can logically be considered air places.

# Sep 20 2000 at 10:12 PM Rating: Default
I'm not sure there are four elements we need to get. So far people have ony found two and there are only two staffs of mastery as far as I can tell. Also if it is true that you turn teh four pieces into Rykas, and he doesn't give you a box to combine them in, that's all they want. All quests that have needed more that four items have involved a box like object that you combine in the end. SO I figuer you need to give Rykas the two elements and teh two pages to get the prize.

Naw, there's the guy in Firiona Vie for the Earth, Dagnors for Water, and Skyfire for Fire... there are Earth, Water, and Air staffs of Mastery. AFAIK there is no fire mastery staff, but I could be wrong on this. My hypothesis is that you create four items, one for each element, then someone combines all four together to form the Power of the Elements. Rykas asks for you to retrieve for him the Power of the Elements, Words of Magi'kot, and Words of Mastery. The end product seems to lead to some type of secret orb used to control the elements... I really don't know. Still looking for that Walnan lady though. Please drop me a line if you happen to locate her at VremmyV@hotmail.com

On test sever sometime last week a ton of new procs were added 15 or 16 i can't remember how many. But each seemed to be tied to each class. The magician one was :Summon Multielemntal. What it did and i kid you not was summon a pet with mixed textures and had 4k hp, a 35 point dmg shield , cast stun and back stabbed. I am not sure if this was a VP weapon, but they were added about the time as the quests were to the test server....so.

Read More about them at this link, sorry if i unvieled too much.

Brainstorming-longish
# Sep 20 2000 at 5:54 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, ive been brainstorming ways this might go(cant sleep), and i figured it write em down so that maybe someone could have checked most of em out before i get up for work.

The water part seems to be dagnors.. wants Staff of Mastery from Kedge, Rain of Karana from "a giant in the karanas".. this is Trabul Earthstrider in EastK, and Tears of Errolisi from "a rotten officer accross the blessed deep".. as yet unfound. Ok, rotten officer probly means skeletal or undead, and the "blessed deep" is probly timorous deep, thus a new undead "officer" spawn from kunark(would guess CoM, just off the top of my head).. but, remembering this part comes from Dagnors, the Ocean of Tears could be the "blessed deep", and "rotten" could mean corrupted.. sould like Lucan to anyone other than me? Hes the corrupt officer from the Temple of Marr(errolisi/mithanial marr), and the ocean of tears is probly refered to as blessed somewhere in lore. Kith also seems to have its own decaying army, so this might also be a place to look.

The earth part.. starts in firoina vie when Tiblner Milnuk points out hw powerful he is being the master of earth.. he asks for the earth mastery staff(he implies inny doesnt drop it anymore, so id look for a new NPC or possibly the maestro in hate), the "Dirt of Underfoot" from Slix something or other, and the shovel of ponz(solro) and broom of trillion(solro)... Slix could be a referance to Slizix the Mighty, highish(low 50s) level NPC in The Hole(first thing that came to mind when he said underfoot).. failing that, id poke arround Akanon and Kaladim to see if anyone with a name resembling Slix was giving out a quest.

Fire? Air? I didnt run into anyone tonight(Fearplane), but i do have a list of places ill check out soon enough provided these havent been found. Fire - The SolRo Temple, SolA, SolB, Lavastorm, Burning Wood, and Skyfire Mountains. Air - Plane of Air(no brainer if thats the case), East Commons, Rath Mounts, Butchersblock Mounts, Frontier Mounts, Highpass, High Keep, Gfey(kelethin), and Steamfont Mounts.

What we've gathered about our goal(thanks to Cammie for most of this info).. this quest seems to start in West Commons or?(more in a min), when you put together the words of Magi'Kot(found in Kith - Dread Wolf, Unrest - Tenticle Terror, Lguk? - Bloodthirsty ghoul?). When you talk to Jahsohn Aksot(jason aksot?), the key is to say that Rykas sent you... i know the name Rykas is familiar to me, but i dont remember where from, this would be the true start of the quest. Im figuring, the completed Words of Magi'Kot will be written in an obscure language other then common, and will detail Magis plan about ultimate elemental power. You will then need to complete the 4 side quests(mentioned above where info was available), and bring Magi the pieces for the final reward. Judging by the fact these are FA style quests, the cynic in me says magi's probly a triggered spawn in PoA(no info ive seen points to this, but im a cynic as i said)... knowing other high level quests from the game, you may even have to kill magi or a uber-spawn something nearby when you hand in the 4 pieces.

I will personally look into as much of this as possible, but lets all work together and share the information. I *really* want the mage weapon to be the first found of the 14 new toys in game, and ill buy a round of drinks for whoever figures it out faster then the other classes out there. Come on people, lets show em Mage Power!

Jinalis Andir is straight ahead.
Jinalis Andir glowers at you dubiously -- what would you like your tombstone to say?
You say, 'hail Jinalis Andir' (Erudite Magician Female, with a Earth pet - which should be a water pet I think)
Your Location is -466.26, -2013.43, 60.60 (on a edge near water)
Jinalis Andir says 'Let us dispense with pleasantries, Durix . Bring me the Staff of Elemental Mastery:Water held by the last of the Kedge, the Tears of Erolisi held by a dirty and rotten officer across the Blessed Deep, and finally, the Rain of Karana, found on a mighty Giant in, where else, the Karanas.

The last of the Kedge is most likely Phinigel. The dirty and rotten officer sounds like it might either be an undead (rotten) and the blessed deep seperates Kunark from the old world. Could be the head guy in Karnor's? Isn't he undead? Could also be referring to the general that roams the Overthere.
And there is a post below that tells you where the Rain of Karana comes from.

Talk with Rykor or something, I forget his name, but he gives you a token. You take the token to WC and you give it to the Mage in blue (hangs on the trail from Kithicor) He gives you the quest.

You need...
Part 1 - Kithicor - Dreaded Wolf (Night)
Part 2 - Some frog in Lguk
Part 3 - Unrest - Tentacle Terror (near Ghost)

Then you hand them into the blue mage in WC and he tells you to find Walnan.

I am stumped. No luck in finding Walnan.
