No Heroism Without Fear

As of the May 2022 patch, this task is no longer required, mercenaries are automatically upgraded to Journeyman (after zoning) when an all-access player reaches level 85. Other accounts are limited to Apprentice mercenaries.
This is a solo task that begins with Investigator Drolmer at about /loc 1215, 220 (near the Plane of Knowledge stone) in the dream version of The Feerrott. Pre-Requisites for Requesting: - Level 85 - As of an April 2014 patch, any character (heroic or not) can do this task to gain access to all mercenaries. Say "help" to request the task. 
Find and speak with Investigator Vekman 0/1 (Feerrott, the Dream) Investigator Vekman is found a little ways southeast at /loc 865, 110. Locate and examine the dead mercenary 0/1 (Feerrott, the Dream) You'll find the dead mercenary a little ways southwest of Investigator Vekman. Destroy the wraiths emanating from the dead mercenary's skull 0/2 (Feerrott, the Dream) Kill two of the worry wraiths near the mercenary's corpse. Speak with Investigator Vekman about what happened 0/1 (Feerrott, the Dream) Find and speak with Investigator Spelner 0/1 (Feerrott, the Dream) Investigator Spelner is found a little ways southeast of Investigator Vekman, at about 800, -270. Kill the crazed mercenaries that are stalking and attacking Investigator Spelner 0/2 (Feerrott, the Dream) Speak with Investigator Spelner about the rest of her crew 0/1 (Feerrott, the Dream) Find the investigators' camp and speak with Investigator Elgron 0/1 (Feerrott, the Dream) Head northeast to about 1250, -1460 and speak with Investigator Elgron. Defend the investigators' camp by killing the thoughtbleeders and amygdalans that are attacking 0/5 (Feerrott, the Dream) These mobs are found in the same area. Speak with Investigator Elgron 0/1 (Feerrott, the Dream) Loot 3 Dreamwalker's Amygdala from lizardman dreamwalkers 0/3 (Feerrott, the Dream) Loot these from lizardmen dreamwalkers (found in the area southwest from Investigator Elgron -- around 480, -1185). Collect 3 Mushrooms of Waking Dreams 0/3 (Feerrott, the Dream) These are ground spawns a little ways southeast of Investigator Elgron. You can find them at LOC 825 -1787, LOC 817 -1688, LOC 852 -1622 Speak with Investigator Elgron and tell him you found the ingredients to walk within dreams 0/1 (Feerrott, the Dream) Find the Circle of Fear 0/1 (Feerrott, the Dream) This is a location update at the druid ring around 315, -1825 (a fair distance southeast from Investigator Elgron). Speak with Merc Boldron and find out what horrible fears lurk in this place 0/1 (Feerrott, the Dream) Don't speak with Merc Boldron until ready for a fight. After a short time, this dialogue update triggers the spawn of a dracolich. Kill the dracolich that has spawned out of fears and nightmares 0/1 (Feerrott, the Dream) Speak with Merc Boldron and tell him the dracolich is dead 0/1 (Feerrott, the Dream) Tell Investigator Drolmer you have saved his crew and defeated the apparition among the stones 0/1 (Feerrott, the Dream) Reward: Flag for Tier V Journeyman Mercenaries | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

As I recall a Heroic char, Level 85+ on gold account, is auto-assigned task at zoning in if you don't have a J5 already.

This quest is pointless to complete now. ONLY PAID accounts can access the Tier 2-5 mercs, and once you have a paid account you automatically unlock the mercs. Doing this quest results in nothing but exp and platinum. A silver account, heroic character, still cannot use the mercs after completing the quest. You HAVE to have a paid account, Period.

I wonder if this quest and the mobs associated are gone from Ferrott, the Dream after the 18 May 2022 patch. Merc levels are eliminated, so no need for this quest anymore.

No, the mobs and the quest is still there. I just ran thru it on one of my Silver accounts. And at the end I was given the reward and 125 plat. And a replay timer.
Of course I cannot buy Journeyman since that account is only Silver. But I believe it is repeatable for the plat

done it in a hour on 4 toon . was not hard at all. .

Just did this today, it appears they have changed it to include flags for J2 - J5 for doing this now, as opposed to what Ive read previously

Just did this for my 85 box cleric to get to tierV. I had 33 AAs before and 48 AAs available after. Took about an hour. It says it is repeatable. I will have to try it again later.

Does completing this quest grant access to Journeyman rank 2 - 5 for ALL characters on the account, or do you have to complete this quest with each character? I have an all-access account and just got a Heroic character so I'd like to start that quest.
No just the one you do the quest on. Mercs are character specific.

In the quest "No Heroism Without Fear" there is a mob listed that is not shown as being in the zone "Feerrott, The Dream". It is a dracolich.

Yes that’s the name . Killed it last night, it’s undead, my paladin finished it in 6 seconds by slay undead 60+k dmg and finishing blow 80k dmg.

Took no time at all, less than 30 or 40 minutes. 85 Paladin with j1 healer merc. Only time I needed the healer merc was for the thoughtbleeders because I started killing the amygdalans as well, had 3 to 4 mobs on me for a minute (dont have to kill the amygdalans). Rest of the mobs were easy solo kills. Could have probably solo pulled the thoughtbleeders and did this with no merc.

I created a heroic character on a gold account with all expansions, NPC will not give my heroic character the task. Guess it's off to korascian warrens.

PLONK, YOU'RE A LIFESAVER, lol "a little southeast" was the most vague and worst possible way to describe how to find those mushrooms and not at all accurate. THANKS!
just do what dozerguy said and use find because there is no better way to find em!!!

all task givers are findable using the find button. mushroom hill and lizardmen are even on the find button. cakewalk!
Very easy quest, the only challenge being the random wandering lizardmen pathing into the fight. Playing a heroic 85 pally and shaman team, it was manageable. All of the quest mobs are pushovers.
I was able to do the quest last night, with an all-Access account, without CotF, and on a non-Heroic char.

Not sure what happening there, I multi-quested it with my grouped dru-war box with their J1 mercs, both got credited for the 2 kills of each task, naturally for the loot I had to collect 6 Amygdalas (3 for each character) At the end i forgot and had both my toons hail Merc Boldron and of course two dracolich's popped up at same time, but you can say their DB but the kind that looks relatively weak.
I have a gold acct and a heroic toon, but he will not give me the quest.... maybe you have to have the latest expansion as well.... going to do the old quest instead
Sounds like something buggy. . . I would /petition because I have been working on this quest with a free account (soon to be gold), a silver account, and a gold account and they all had no problems getting the quest.

- All characters can now participate in the Heroic Character quest granting access to Journeyman Tier 5 mercenaries. Speak to Investigator Drolmer in Feerrott, the Dream to receive this quest, "No Heroism Without Fear." Note that account access restrictions still apply and you will need to have an All Access account to use the highest tier mercenaries.
Need level 85 to take this quest though.
For Korascian Warrens J5 quest, level 75 can take.

I have doubt about it, it seems only Heroic Character can take this quest for J5 Merc flag
For non-Heroic toons, Partisan of Korascian Warrens is the only way to get J5 Merc flag.

Did this quest fairly quickly and easily. Even with 20% allocated to AAs I got around 6-7% normal XP and about 60% AA xp from completing. Had the double xp (veteran reward buff), from killing mobs on the whole time.
At the camp with Elgron you want to pull them to the side because if someone runs up and hails him while you are fighting more will spawn and they will agro too.
Although not a prerequisite for this task, it should be noted in the description that you need a Gold account to actually make use of the "Journeyman T5 Flag". I didn't realize that until I completed this quest on all four of my Heroic Alt accounts...

About 6% regular experience @ level 85 in addition to 125pp. 6 hour lockout timer.
