You say, 'I will be your personal courier.'

Master Niska grabs a tin box resting by her feet. 'Take this to Master Rinmark and be quick about it!!'

You receive A Tin Box (identifies as "property of Rinmark"). Take it to "an Iksar master" in Timorous Deep (/loc?).

an Iksar master opens the box to reveal a variety of pebbles. 'How grand!! My pebbles!! Now I can continue with my rock garden!! Hmmm. You look familiar. Hey!! I bet you can help me complete my garden!! Would you please [assist old Rinmark in completing his rock garden]?'
Your faction standing with Swift Tails got better.
Your faction standing with Legion of Cabilis got better.
    You gain experience!!

You say, 'I will assist old Rinmark in completing his rock garden.'

an Iksar master pours the pebbles into his pocket and hands the box to you. 'Take my box. Fill and combine within my box the following; a radiant meteorite, frontier fool's gold, petrified redwood, Rile's sand coin, sulfur stone, fragment of tektite, plains pebble, jade magma, heart of ice and an unholy coldstone. Return the full tin box to me and I shall reward you with a shackle of bronze.'

You receive an Empty Tin Box (identifies as "Empty Pebble Box"). Here is a breakdown of where each item can be found:
    1. Radiant Meteorite: Foraged in Burning Woods

    2. Frontier Fools Gold: 2 types of gold nuggets can be foraged in Frontier Mountains. The nugget we want cannot be sold to a vendor and is Identified (by the spell) as Frontier Fool's Gold. The other nugget that can be sold for a few silver identifies as Genuine Gold Nugget.

    3. Petrified Redwood: Foraged in Warsliks Woods or dropped by succulents in OT

    4. Rile's Sand Coin: Foraged in Timorous Deep

    5. Sulfur Stone: Infact called a Scarlet Stone it drops of of Drolvarg Scavengers in Firiona Vie. Identify will reveal its real name.

    6. Fragment of Tektite: Tektite is a Gargoyle inside the evil outpost in Over There. He wants new "eyes". What he wants are 2 carnelian gems. These can be bought from a gem vendor for 1-2p. Get an invis and sneak through the main tunnel. Tektite is located at the end on the left side. Hand him the 2 gems and he gives you
      "tektite".

    7. Plains Pebble: This can be foraged in the Karanas.

    8. Jade Magma: Drops off of Buranyai Miners in Frontier Mountains.

    9. Heart of Ice: Drops off of Ice Bone Skeletons, which spawn near the Sarnak Fortress in the Lake of Ill Omen zone.

    10. Unholy Coldstone: Drops off of goblin priests in Permafrost.

Combine to craft A Pebble Filled Box (identifies as "property of Rinmark"). Hand this in.

an Iksar master graciously accepts the tin box filled with precious rocks and gems. 'Thank you greatly, young Shasriz. For your deed, I bestow upon you the shackle of bronze!! You have completed the third rung. Alas, there is no time for celebration. I need your help in rescuing a [student] of mine.'
Your faction standing with Swift Tails got better.
Your faction standing with Legion of Cabilis got better.
    You gain experience!!

Has anyone tried to start this quest without doing the previous shackle quests? If I could skip the others that would be grand..

You can start this quest as soon as you can get the quest item from Master Niska. If she responds to "I will be your personal courier." Then you're home free. You do not need to complete the previous shackles.

Actually, although you might be able to do this shackle quest without doing the previous, you won't be able to get what you really want (the shackle of steel) unless you do the ones before it.

Reason being you have to turn in both the shackle of copper and the shackle of bronze to get the shackle of steel.

There's not a way around it, you've got to do all the shackle quests - sorry =)

You might still want to do this quest again once you have the Shackle of Steel, since this is one of the best (free) wrist items for an Iksar Monk... lightweight, with decent AC and MR.
Does it matter where you forage?
    # Oct 28 2000 at 10:29 AM Rating: Good
Like, if you foraged on a rock in Timourous deep, do you still get a sand coin? Or do you have to do it in the sand?

I must be the luckiest lizard alive...Got mine today while sitting and waiting for the boat at Timorous to go to the Overthere.Just practicing my foraging skill as usual when all of a sudden I got this seashell object..tried to drop it but it was no drop...Almost destroyed it but had the urge to look at what it was...Turned out to be a pleasant suprise :)
RE: No it doesn't matter where you forage
    # Nov 09 2000 at 1:00 PM Rating: Default
nope...i got mine while sitting where the raider watchman spawns...it's green on the ground, and i heard someone yell from the boat asking what it was for saying they foraged it from the boat

took me forever to get the radiant meteorite tho.....finally a nice druid gave me one :)

I don't understand this. Are you saying the Sand Coin was on the ground? If so, it must be a Ground Spawn since the one you forage is No-Drop!
    Getting a fragment of tektite
    # Aug 21 2000 at 4:46 PM Rating: Default
Can anyone give me any pointers on getting the fragment from tektite? I tried invis and sneak to give the carnelians to him, but they both fall while I'm in the trade screen. Also tried FD, but he says he is busy if I FD before I start the trade and he didn't give me anything when I FD'd after I started the trade. Obviously this can be done somehow, but I'm out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated.
    How Sneak works
    # Dec 13 2000 at 5:47 AM Rating: Default
you must be out of the front 180 degrees of vision for sneak to work. try comming at him from the side hugging the wall. also conning him will tell you if sneak is working. (Indifferent means it is working). good luck.

    is this a no drop??

I made it this way: I got an Invis, ran in the Outpost, got in his back. Then I started to Sneak (Still invis), trade him the stone and Sneak away (Because of the Sneak thing, the Invis stays). Unfortunately I stoped to sneak a tad too close and I died :P

Bah... the fragement was on my corpse and a Nice DE draged it for me outside the Outpost.

Actually Invisibility DOES drop when you try to trade, even though Icon remains, but Sneak doesn't. (I've watched a Monk do this bit exactly and he became visible as he traded. I invis'd him once he'd gotten the Tektite - BTW this was with my DE Enchanter - my main is VERY KoS at the Outpost).

    Plains Pebble

Finally! A use for this silly pebble! Now if only we can find a use for the druids and rangers, since this quest cannot be done by them.

i got all kindsa things to say..

Plains Pebbles WERE no drop. I have a lvl 41 ranger that I've been playing for over a year(would be 60 by now if it weren't for all the characters I've started on the side...including an Iksar monk :) ). EVERY time I went to the Karanas, I was always annoyed by this stupid little pebble that I would forage every few minutes, but it wasn't stackable & I couldn't just drop it to get rid of it. One day I noticed that it wasn't NO DROP anymore and thank god. They're still annoying to get, though ;)

    # Jan 03 2001 at 11:46 AM Rating: Decent
Actually, Imbued Plains Pebbles are the Gem for Karana-specific items. While wood-elf weapons CAN be made with them, it's mostly intended for the worshippers of Karana (Paladins(Hum+HE) and Clerics(Hum) in Qeynos, Rangers and Druids (Human and Half-Elf) in Surefall Glade, and Halfling Druids). As such, it's used in Human imbued armor and weapons, and Halfling Imbued Vale Leather.

The skill in Foraging only affects how likely you are to succeed each time you try, NOT what Items you can forage. And Iksar have the same racial chance for forage as do Wood-Elves.

    # Feb 03 2001 at 6:59 AM Rating: Default
Err...skill in Forage does indeed affect whether or not you can forage unique items, BUT...you first start foraging rare items around 50 ('tis when I did), and Iksar monks have Forage of 60 (or so I've heard), thereby letting them forage these items.

Actually for Iksar Foraging is stuck at 50, FYI.

    All Iksars have forage.

Yes, Iksar monks have the forage skill
    RE: Plains Pebble
    # Dec 13 2000 at 12:13 PM Rating: Default
Indeed, all iksars have forage, capped at 50.

These plains pebbles used to be no drop, but aren't any more. My ranger foraged them in the Karanas when they were no drop, he only started foraging these and other special items at skill 100, which is why people assume iksars can't forage special items, but I assume this must be different for iksars.

Although Iksar foraging is capped at 50, Iksar forage from the entire forage table, so they can get any of the special forages in a zone.

Plains pebbles are also used in cultural armor, and the reason the nodrop tag was removed from them is so that they can be given to a cleric at some point.
