Diggs Duggun is a dwarf that runs around the maze.

You say, 'Hail, Diggs Duggun'

Diggs Duggun says ''ail, dere! Ain'tcha a sight fer me sore eyes! I knows dat we're strangers an' all, but might I ask a [boon] of ye?'

You say, 'What boon?'

Diggs Duggun says 'Well, me pickaxe is blunted awfully bad and me ale supplies are dangerously low. If'n ye would be kind enough t' get me a new pick and a couple o' bottles o' dwarven ale, I would be f'rever in yer debt.'

Give him a Pick (found at the vendor at the Kaladim Bank) and two Dwarven Ales (not stacked).

Diggs Duggun drinks one of the ales and burps loudly then says 'By Brell's Beard! Yer a lifesaver, ya are! 'ere, take dis bone I've found 'ere in dis maze. Looks human ta me and I'm thinkin that a proper burial is in order. Freeport's the closest place dat has one o Marr's temples. I'm thinkin dis was one o' his Holy Knights by da look o' da tattered tunic I found it wrapped in. I'm thinkin Valeron might be havin an interest in it.'

Receive A Dusty Old Leg Bone.

Now go find a Paladin guildmaster by the name of Valeron Dushire. He is in West Freeport, approximate location -1120, +495, -126 (inside the Hall of Truth, the building in the north-northwest part of West Freeport).

You say, 'Hail, Valeron Dushire'

Valeron Dushire says 'I am Sir Valeron Dushire, leader of the order of the Knights of Truth. If your soul shines with purity and strength, I urge you to join our order. The might of Mithaniel Marr stands behind all who join. Soon that might will help us free this city from the tyranny of the [Freeport Militia].'

Give him the Dusty Old Leg Bone. You must be indifferent or he will simply hand it back.

Valeron Dushire says 'Hail, adventurer! I... what's this? Where did you get this? Never mind.. I.. I never thought we would find [him]!'

You say, 'Who is Diggs Duggun?'

Valeron Dushire says 'According to this crest on the tunic, you have recovered one of the bones of a lost Paladin [Hero].'

You say, 'What hero?'

Valeron Dushire says 'His name has been long lost but his legend lives on in every young knight who aspires to continue his fight. He attempted to quell an evil that resided within Kithicor, perverting nature itself. Much to his relief, it was an earthly foe he fought against and not a denizen summoned from the planes of evil. Then, suddenly, he was surrounded by dozens of dark elves. He was captured and taken to the Dead to be experimented upon and had his soul twisted by vile necromantic magics. Then the Tier'Dal cast his remains to the winds. Where they landed, no one knew, until now. You have found one of his bones. I hereby charge you with a Holy Quest to bring this Hero's bones back for a burial with honors. Do you [accept], knight?'

You say, 'I accept.'

Valeron Dushire says 'Good! I knew you would. It is one of the highest honors one can receive. Your quest will not be easy for I know not where his other bones lay. A spy of ours within Neriak was able to surmise that six of his bones along with his sword and shield were scattered throughout Norrath. You must search far and wide to find the remaining pieces, as you already have one.. Do not give up. It is now your sacred duty. Once you have retrieved all eight pieces, come back to me and inform me that you [have all the bones].'

You now need to collect six bones, a shield, a sword and a coffin. These are the items and locations:

1. A Dusty Old Skull - Minotaur caves in Steamfont in Meldrath's room.

2. A Dusty Old Leg Bone - You received this from talking to Diggs Duggun in Beholder's Maze.

3. A Dusty Ribcage - The Garden in Castle Mistmoore.

4. A Dusty Old Backbone - Ghost Room Pit in Unrest.

5. A Dusty Old Jawbone - Underwater Ice Cave in Everfrost.

6. Dusty Old Finger Bones - Inside Phinigel Autropos's room in Kedge Keep on a rock next to the wall. Exact Location is neg 147, pos 145, neg 251.

7. A Dusty Broken Sword - In the mines of Kaladim in the water.

8. A Dusty Broken Shield - On a ledge on right cliffs in Erudin from the docks.

9. Gem Encrusted Casket is received from Ping Fuzzlecutter as follows:

You say, 'I have all the bones.'

Valeron Dushire says 'Excellent! You are indeed worthy to bear the title of Holy Knight! Now, about the coffin. I have spoken with Ping Fuzzlecutter, outside the western gates. Ask him about the coffin and once it is made, bring it to Simon Aldicott of Marr. I shall have Simon meet you by the lake in the Commonlands after Ping gives you the coffin.'

Go to Ping Fuzzlecutter, outside the gates of West Freeport.

You say, 'What components?'

Ping gives you an Empty Gem Bag to combine the following items:

1. a diamond
2. a star ruby
3. a pearl
4. a fire emerald (you have to buy it from Brisha Fyrestone in Firiona Vie (ask her "What about the special fire emerald") and then give it to her husband to get the correct one -- there are two kinds of fire emeralds out there and this is the one that works)
5. a sapphire
6. a fire opal
7. 2 enchanted platinum bars

Combine the gems in the bag to craft a Full Gem Bag. Give this to Ping to receive a Gem Encrusted Casket.

Ping Fuzzlecutter smiles broadly as he rifles through the bag, then looks up at you and says, 'Bout time! Here is the coffin as promised.'

Put the dusty items in the casket and combine to craft A Gem Encrusted Casket. See Simon Aldicott in the West Commonlands.

You say, 'Hail, Simon Aldicott'

Simon Aldicott says, 'Hail and well met, ______. I am Simon Aldicott, a cleric in the service of Mithaniel Marr. I've been sent here to prepare a [funeral service] for one of our lost to join Marr in his kingdom.'

You say, 'What funeral service?'

Simon Aldicott says, 'Are you the brave knight whom Valeron sent to meet me here? If so, please place the remains in the coffin and seal it. Then hand me the coffin so that we may bless it in the waters of this lake.'

Give him the casket.

Simon Aldicott places the coffin in the water and begins to pray. 'Lord of Valor high above, take this knight, your loyal child, into thy kingdom and... by all that is holy! What is that thing?!'

A Tortured Revenant will spawn and attack you (some thanks eh?). Kill it and loot Revenant Ash (identifies as "Ash of Darak Lightforge").

A Tortured Revenant's corpse says 'At last I can rest..'

Give the Revenant Ash to Simon and he will reward you with your new spell.

Simon Aldicott says, ''Tis a sad thing. His soul was twisted to its current state somehow and he thought YOU were the foul Teir'Dal who destroyed him in the first place. But that is no matter..you have freed him to stand by Marr's side once more! Now, give me the ash so that I may finally put him to rest. In return for your valor I shall provide you with an ancient spell unknown to most Holy Knights of Marr.'

Simon Aldicott says, 'Thank you Knight. With this task accomplished, I shall reward you with this scroll. It is an ancient spell that only the holiest of knights may cast. Remember your duty!'
Your faction standing with Priests of Marr has been adjusted by 300.
Your faction standing with The Freeport Militia has been adjusted by -30.
Your faction standing with Knights of Truth has been adjusted by 45.

You gain experience!!

getting the coffin
# Aug 22 2000 at 11:49 AM Rating: Default
Put the gems in the bag....remember you need a 'special fire emerald' you get this by giving a regular fire emerald to the dwarf vendor in Firona Vie...he will give back a special one. This is probably where a few of you are failing...also the plat should be single not stacked...hit combine..give the bag back to ping and he gives you the coffin...easy.

I'm confused here, Fizzlecutter gives me a bag for gems, right, so i put the gems in it and hit combine, what do i get then?

Where does the coffin come from?
about the gems pls
# Aug 17 2000 at 1:46 AM Rating: Default

Unstacked, one by one.
Nodrop?
# Aug 07 2000 at 1:53 PM Rating: Decent
Is the final scroll nodrop? I a couple of the components, from before I knew which quest they were attached to. I'd like to do the quest for a Paladin in our guild.

Have to be 50?
# Aug 04 2000 at 1:29 AM Rating: Decent
Do you have to be 50 to turn in the last 2 items (before and after the fight) to Simon in WC? I cant get him to talk about the funeral services, and I'm 49 right now.

Help appreciated! :-)
do this quest
# Jul 31 2000 at 2:07 AM Rating: Decent
I completed a full night of combat in lower guk with divine might, and the results are nice. With ghoulbane, divine might and a shammy dex buff(around 145 total) i was proccing upwards of 6 mights and 3 ghoulbanes per fight. This combo makes paladins a possible soloing force against higher undead creatures. Tonight was the first night i used ghoulbane in 5 months :P
The FV fire emerald..
# Jul 30 2000 at 12:55 PM Rating: Decent
Guys..on the subject of the emerald. You have to buy the fire emerald from the lady dwarf and then hand it to the guy dwarf next to her(I don't remember names now..sorry=P). The dwarf will give you the right emerald and tell you it has "only one use". I used the one that you purchase and lost my gems when I combined the bag. :(

Hope this helps.

Paladins are one of the only classes that have many quested and highly respected items, such as Soulfire and the Fiery Avenger.. look at ShadowKnights.. (The Dark Races "Paladin", if you will) .. they get didilly squat. I feel bad for the ShadowKnights, and Verant wonders why few select the unholy warrior.
stop and think before you rant about paladins
# Nov 07 2000 at 8:12 PM Rating: Default
i dont know if you noticed, but the kunark shadow knight weapons are equal to, if not better than the fiery avenger, and easier to get. also, the sk's have a mace that is better than any paladin 1hb.
also notice that many very good strength items are warrior AND sk only? what? no pallies?
then there is the fact that paladins have no large races and so get stunned MUCH more easily and cant do as much damage.
thirdly, the paladin quests are ******* hard to do. soulfire yields crap for what the effort is(hard to pull/kill mob that puts you kos in fp and needed faction). the fiery avenger takes a soulfire, a ghoulbane and the drops off a lich that is hard to kill because he is equal in fighting power to a dragon. also, to get him to appear, you must get 2 rare drops off naggy and vox and give them to the ever camped oracle. once you get them, you must have someone charm the lich(very high magic resist) to give it to him. then you need to go on a sky raid to get you FA. FA rules, but some kunark weapons are much better.

think before you speak...

phinny
# Jul 29 2000 at 12:20 PM Rating: Decent
Phinny doesnt need to be killed. it is a bag in his lair, about halfway down on a rock. I got lucky and got it after someone had killed it.
RE: phinny
# Nov 05 2000 at 8:53 AM Rating: Default
This is how to find it in Phin's lair. After you have killed all in room <we had to kill phin and his guardians> but go to south wall on the ledge. Swim straight out and look down you will see a hole in the floor in the shape of a star. Swim down inside the star and as soon as you go through the star turn and be facing south. Keep swimming down and you will see a rock with a cubbyhole behind it. The bone is on top of the rock. It took around 18 of us to take out phinny. His guardians if you pull one at a time or even 2 is not to hard to kill.
RE: phinny
# Oct 26 2000 at 2:09 PM Rating: Default
Is the bag within aggro range of the Swirlspine Guardians/Phinny or do you need to kill them to get it safely?
Verant
# Jul 29 2000 at 10:04 AM Rating: Decent
It seems Verant makes thing difficult for us paladins, especially in smaller guilds that don't often do large event. First, we need to kill both dragons and be lucky enough to get the book of scale, now we need to kill Phinigel as well
diamonds
# Jul 29 2000 at 4:35 AM Rating: Decent
well, the word is out and everyone knows pallys need diamonds. the price used to be around 800plat on eci, now people are charging upwards of 1800.
Thanks, verant for making this quest damn near impossible with the lack of diamond drops.
The Quest
# Jul 28 2000 at 11:35 PM Rating: Decent
The Quest only went live in the last patch, with the addition of The Marr Cleric , Simon Aldicott, by the lake in West Commons.

The spawn time on the bones / sword / sheild is approx 20 mins

"Divine Might" lasts 6 mins and costs 100 mana, but it recycles every 6 seconds, so it's as good as permanant.

It does 65DD although yes it can be interupted and resisted. When you hand in the coffin, a skeleton spawns. I have fourght it twice and on both times it was called a "Tortured Revenant". It's blue at 54th. A full group kills it fairly easy although it's resistant to some magic. It hits for just over 100 and casts healing spells suprisingly quickly, Lay Hands and strangly enough, Divine Might. When Killing the beast, you loot "Ash" and hand this to Simon and you receive your New Spell.

Garden?
# Jul 28 2000 at 11:01 PM Rating: Decent
Where is the Garden in MM. Spent alot of time there never seen a garden.
RE: Garden?
# Nov 23 2000 at 10:17 AM Rating: Default
I can help you. Go to www.eqatlas.com and print up a map of Mistmoore (if you dont have one already). On the map, there is a section labeled "The Courtyard". Head to the courtyard. I am a 50th paladin and a cleric and myself got there very easy. I just pulled solos and we slowly worked our way down. If you had invis, just invis up and head to the south wall of the courtyard, you will have to fight two Dark elves and a gargoyle when you get there (just to make a good spot for you to med). Once in the courtyard, and the southern wall cleared (3 spawns) pull solos with dispell and just kill em one at a time. Work your way to the North end of the courtyard. Once the whole courtyard is clear, the north east corner has a doorway (no door) In there is a fountain and 3 to 4 spawns, continue to pull solos (a little tricky but not bad) Once that fountain room is cleared out, go look behind the fountain on the south wall. There is a bag on the ground there, and thats the ribcage!!

its where the cloaked dhampyre spawns, after entering from main gate its back and to the right and outside again, then where the fountain is its on the ground next to a bush.
Phinigel's room
# Jul 28 2000 at 4:18 PM Rating: Decent
When we did this, we didn't have the guns to clear the room, so we had a Necro sit out in the door to Kedge. Our Pali went in invis and made it just fine to Phin's room. Nothing in Kedge can see invis until you get there. All five Swirlspines beat the living tar out of him of course, but by the time he was dead after a LOH, he had the bone on his corpse. Necro summons out corpse and viola.
RE: Phinigel's room
# Sep 12 2001 at 8:25 AM Rating: Decent
Easier way with no need to die. Get a 55+ Mage at then entrance, Paladin and someone with invis go in, get to room, other person gates, Paladin swims in grabs the bone, Mage summons, hit zone.
Respawn time
# Jul 28 2000 at 2:32 AM Rating: Decent
anyone know what respawn time the items have?
And by the Mines of kaladim they mean the tunnel by the bank?
RE: Respawn time
# Nov 10 2000 at 6:01 PM Rating: Default
Yep in the tunnels,in the water. Not to hard to find just swim around and you'll see it on the bottom (looks like a sword).

Ever thought that this quest HAS been here for 6 months... i recall seeing a treestump running around Beholder several months ago, though im a Dark Elf, so he wouldnt talk to me. I take this as the quest being in game since then, most likely coming out about the same time as the rest of the hybrids.
RE: Hmm...
# Nov 07 2000 at 8:05 PM Rating: Default
i'm sorry, but, YOU MORON. this quest is only DOABLE with the kunark expansion. the shadowknight quest was doable before the expansion, and i had seen people trying before it. the quest may have "been here" for the 6 months, but not completeable. read the quest before you talk trash about paladins
Umm yea
# Jul 27 2000 at 8:50 AM Rating: Decent
Yea all they care about is paladins. Thats why the otehr two hybrid classes have had their quest spell for 6 months.
May be changed to uniteruptible
# Jul 27 2000 at 2:46 AM Rating: Default
I just read a post on eq castersrealm where Gorden said next patch Will make Lay hands Harm Touch and Poison uniterutible. perhaps divive might my be among them. would not that be nice.
This
# Jul 26 2000 at 7:35 PM Rating: Decent
its a 65 point "proc" which can be interupted
I have finished the quest
# Jul 26 2000 at 3:02 PM Rating: Decent
Finished it about 6 am on July 26th. :>)

The proc is not a proc at all but a manaless DD spell that is cast by you in combat randomly. Because of this, it can be interrupted. It is only a DD and has no stun effect like some have speculated. Its a very nice addition. with 110 dex I proc 3-5 times a fight.

Oh yeh
# Jul 25 2000 at 11:53 AM Rating: Decent
one other thing, ping asks for eight things, and gives you a gem back for [components]. Unfortunately, one of the gems is a diamond, and the fire emerald must be purchased from FV, not from antonica/faydwer/odus. Ensure a GM checks your gems BEFORE you combine them to give to ping to get the coffin, otherwise you're going to be out 500 plat plus a diamond. Everything can be purchased except the diamond, and cost with a newbie enchanter 110 CHA is just over 500pp for all the buyable gems.
How to get the coffin
# Jul 25 2000 at 11:49 AM Rating: Decent
after looking through my eqlog.txt file, you have to go to ping and say, and note, EXACT TEXT

Tell me about the coffin..

Note the two dots. That worked for me, nothing else did. In the eqlog.txt Valeron says "Ask him about the coffin.." But the two dots don't show up on the screen, only in the logfile. shrug.
Last bone
# Jul 25 2000 at 10:14 AM Rating: Decent
Just like to comfirm the last bone is in kedge. Finger bones.
Have yet to get ping to talk to me about the coffin though. :(
