Summary

- Say "ready" to Prince Tarant Thex to begin the event.

- Throughout this event, there are two friendly NPCs at your side:
--- Kavi V`Lask (15% spell mitigation aura).
--- Xavier T`Ser (25% melee mitigation aura).
- These NPCs can be healed with player spells.

- Kill 12x "a spiteful shade" (melee DPS) and 12x "a spiteful lich" (ranged DPS to avoid their damage auras).
--- Each mob kill has a chance to spawn either 1x "a spiteful specter" OR 1-2x "a spiteful banshee".
------ Specters are aggro-locked on the friendly NPCs (will attack players if the friendly NPCs are dead).
------ Banshees emote about targeting players for charms; just DPS these as quick as you can.
--- Shades and liches continue spawning until a total of 15 have spawned.
------ No more than three of each type can be up at any time.

- Once the initial 24 mobs (plus the spawned specters and banshees) have been killed, the next phase begins. Move your raid up to the second floor of the library.

- Dialogue plays out, and then Prince Tarant Thex goes aggro.
--- As soon as Prince Tarant Thex goes aggro, four Dreadguard mobs spawn around the area and aggro as well.

- For every 10% of Prince Tarant Thex's health, three adds spawn:
--- 1x "Dreadguard conjuror" (casts AE damage spells)
--- 1x "Dreadguard shieldbearer" (mitigates melee DPS)
--- 1x "Dreadguard swordsman" (mezzable and charmable)

- Once Prince Tarant Thex reaches 4% health, the event ends.
--- Note that all adds have to be killed before you can DPS Prince Tarant Thex below 6%.
------ This includes charmed and mezzed adds.

Triggering the Event

You say, 'Hail, Prince Tarant Thex'

Prince Tarant Thex says, in Dark Elvish, 'I have managed to obtain the key to the library, though its caretakers will likely discover it missing soon. I know not what we will find inside so be prepared for anything. Let me know when you are [ready] to enter. You may also [leave] if you are too cowardly to continue.'

You say, 'Ready!'

Prince Tarant Thex says, in Dark Elvish, 'Very well. Let us proceed.'

The three NPCs path up to the library entrance, at which point you see:

Prince Tarant Thex leaps backwards as he shouts 'Get back, there's a spell on it!'

3x "a spiteful lich" + 3x "a spiteful shade" spawn and auto-aggro.

Friendly NPCs

Two friendly NPCs will be at your side through the duration of this event: Kavi V`Lask and Xavier T`Ser.

Kavi V`Lask has an aura around her that reduces incoming spell damage by 15% while Xavier T`Ser has an aura around him that reduces incoming melee damage by 25%.

These NPCs take damage from mobs just like players do (and will be kill targets for the specters in the event), but can be healed by player spells. It's in your interest to keep them alive.

Phase One: The Spiteful Guardians

Upon triggering the event, 3x "a spiteful lich" + 3x "a spiteful shade" spawn and auto-aggro.

To finish the first phase of this event, you have to kill 12x "a spiteful shade" and 12x "a spiteful lich". These mobs keep respawning until a total of 12 each have died. No more than three mobs of each type can be up at any given time. Each shade and lich killed also has a chance to spawn 1x "a spiteful specter" OR 1-2x "a spiteful banshee" (OR no additional mob at all).

"a spiteful shade"

- Hits for a max ~30,000; does not summon.
- Has melee proc "Shade Touch" (2,500 dmg).
- Gains a 100% spell reflect at 10% health.
- Fully susceptible to melee DPS.
- Immune to root, snare, mez, and charm.

"a spiteful lich"

- Hits for a max ~25,000; does not summon.
- Has a 20' range non-dispellable aura that does ~20,000 damage every 2 seconds to anyone its range.
- Fully susceptible to all DPS.
- Snareable and rootable, but immune to mez and charm.

"a spiteful specter"

- Hits for a max ~30,000; does not summon.
- Focuses its attention on the friendly NPCs.
--- If friendly NPCs are dead, it turns its attention on players.
- Fully susceptible to all forms of DPS.
- Immune to root, snare, mez, and charm.

"a spiteful banshee"

- Hits for a max ~30,000; does not summon.
- Emotes a target and chases the player; if it gets close enough, procs a permanent charm on the player.
--- 5 seconds after charming a player, it picks a new target and does the same thing.
--- Aggro cannot be pulled away from a player it's chasing.
--- As the charms are permanent in duration, it is in your interest to kill these quickly.
- Fully susceptible to all forms of DPS.
- Immune to root, snare, mez, and charm.

Charm emote for banshees:
a spiteful banshee turns her attention on _____.

Completing Phase One

Once all spiteful mobs have been killed, you see this:

Prince Tarant Thex mutters to himself 'Nothing is ever easy when mother is involved.' He surveys the scene around him and says 'We must must move quickly now. I can give you a minute to rest but no more.'

You have about three minutes before Phase Two begins on the library's second floor.

Soon after the above emote, Prince Tarant Thex (along with the friendly NPCs, if they're still alive) makes his way up to the second floor of the library. A short time later, you see:

Prince Tarant Thex shouts, in Dark Elvish, 'This is it!'

Prince Tarant Thex says, in Dark Elvish, 'And now that I have it, you are no longer necessary.'

Prince Tarant Thex shouts, in Dark Elvish, 'Dreadguards!'

Four Dreadguards circle the area (not aggro yet).

Prince Tarant Thex smiles as he says 'You see, I had no intention of allowing you to possess the scroll as I have already promised it to my love. Once I have silenced you, I will deliver it to her.'

Prince Tarant Thex shouts, in Dark Elvish, 'Dreadguards, forward!'

At this time, the Prince and the four Dreadguards all attack.

Phase Two: Prince Tarant Thex & the Dreadguards

Prince Tarant Thex hits for a max ~65,000 and AE rampages (no flurry; no single-target rampage). Every 30 seconds, he does an emote-based spell attack:

_____ is pinned to the ground by a spear. The air around the spear begins to tingle.

At this time, the targeted player is inflicted with "Spear Throw":

Spear Throw: Single Target, Unresistable (-1000)
1: Decrease HP when cast by 35000
2: Stun (6.00 sec)
3: Feign Death, 0% Success Rate
4: Root

Five seconds after the emote, Prince Tarant Thex casts "Innoruuk's Lightning" around the player (but not ON the player):

Innoruuk's Lightning: Targeted AE 30', Magic (-1000)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 101289

In addition, for every 10% of Prince Tarant Thex's health, three adds spawn: 1x "Dreadguard conjuror"; 1x "Dreadguard shieldbearer"; and 1x "Dreadguard swordsman". These appear in the hallway leading into the library's second floor and rush the raid. They each hit for a max ~25,000.

"Dreadguard conjuror"

These casts "Molten Beam" and "Molten Rain":

Molten Beam: Area PC 30', Fire (-999)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 45000

Molten Rain: Targeted AE 30', Fire (-999)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 45000

"Dreadguard shieldbearer"

Shieldbearers have innate defense against melee DPS.

"Dreadguard swordsman"

Swordsmen are charmable and mezzable.

Event Completion

All adds must be killed before Prince Tarant Thex can be taken below 6% (he locks at this point until all adds have died). DPS him to 4% to complete the event.

The Prince falls to the ground, seemingly unconscious, and Lanys T`Vyl appears...

Lanys T`Vyl steps out from the shadows.

Lanys T`Vyl says, in Dark Elvish, 'It looks like I arrived just in time to save you.'

Lanys T`Vyl quickly searches the prince.

Lanys T`Vyl says in a sultry, sarcastic tone, 'I'll be taking that, my prince.'

Lanys T`Vyl looks up from the wounded prince toward your party, 'As for the rest of you, I shall leave you with these paltry rewards. After all, you've earned them. Despite the fact that you were driven here by the ramblings of a madman, your assistance in obtaining the scroll has proven invaluable.'

Lanys T`Vyl speaks with uncharacteristic concern, 'You're like mad dogs, powerful but aimless. So eager to serve at the hand of any master that offers you your next meal. You do realize that if that madman gets his hands on this scroll it will mean the end of Norrath, don't you?'

Lanys T`Vyl says, in Dark Elvish, 'I don't often waste my sincerities on your lot, but I offer you this truth, it is imperative that this treasure not fall into the hands of the forsaken. I suggest you reflect upon your arrangement with Zebuxoruk and really question where your loyalties lie.'

Lanys T`Vyl gates out of the library while the Prince remains unconscious...

You say, 'Hail, Prince Tarant Thex'

Prince Tarant Thex stirs, barely conscious and mumbles 'You would be wise to [leave] before I am able to stand.'

Charmed toons

If the toons get charmed by the Banshees, AE-Memblur/Forget removes it. Some kind of exit is not possible if the whole raid is charmed. The buff is not removable by cancel, radiant cure, greater purify or healing-cure-combos. Really bad game design.
Stupid mezz mechanics

If the raid fails then there are a couple of classes which are perma-mezzed. Is there any idea how to get them out of the instance without quitting it. How stupid is a game mechanic, which has no players inside and every next player entering as emergency gets mezzed and is stuck inside this crap?
