Call of the Forsaken Info & Guides: Overview | Progression & Task List | Raiding | Visible Armor

This group mission begins with Adana Baxter (click for map image) in the Dead Hills.

Pre-Requisites for Requesting:
- Level 95
- Completed "For the Sake of the Forsaken"
- Completed "Xulous Prime" (group mission)

You say, 'Hail, Adana Baxter'

Adana Baxter says 'Hey, can't you see I'm busy? Wait a minute. Aren't you _____? Oh, I've heard of you. Listen, I could use a [hand]. I'm working for the Qeynos government.'

You say, 'A hand?'

Adana Baxter says 'Right. You see this Ethernere business? Well, it looks like it's affecting the Tower of Rot. Yes, that Tower. And it appears that the long lost should-be-dead Kyle Bayle is finally emerging from that decaying, festering eyesore. Things are moving quickly here, and if we don't stop him, who knows what would happen next? I was just trying to figure out a way to do it, and then a hero walks right up to me. Convenient, that. So, what do you think? You'll help stop that old Bayle, right? Did you want to bring a small [group] to take care of him quickly or a larger [raid] force to meet those monsters head on?'

You say, 'I have a group'

Adana Baxter says 'This isn't a task without considerable risk, but I imagine this is the sort of excitement you live for. When you're ready to [go], I'll lead you to where the sightings took place.'

You have been assigned the task 'The Legacy of Bayle'.

According to Adana Baxter, a government official from Qeynos, the Ethernere rift has awakened the long dead and dormant Kyle Bayle. Kyle has emerged from the Tower of Rot, along with his cadre of his most trusted soldiers. Stop the long dead Bayle from moving from that foul tower.

You say, 'Let's go!'

Adana Baxter says 'This way.'

In Detail

Kyle Bayle and company are found north of the zone-in. Hail him to begin the event. Note that mobs around him become aggro (but not auto aggro) after he is hailed.

As they aren't aggro-linked, the Sergeants can be killed one-by-one if you have a puller.

Larenzo casts "Protection of Bayle".

Protection of Bayle: Self 0', Unresistable (0)
1: Mitigate Melee Damage by 50%, 0 total
2: Increase All Resists by 1500
3: Increase Corruption Resist by 1500
4: Increase Corruption counter by 99
5: Increase AC by 30

Grady casts "Arrows of Rot".

Arrows of Rot: Area PC 100', Disease (-900)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 5000 per tick
2: Root
3: Inhibit Melee Attacks by (15%)

Brenn casts "Guardsman's Fury".

Guardsman's Fury: Single Target, (-200)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 35000
2: Stun (0.01 sec)

Captain Kanteer casts "Protection of Bayle" and "Guardsman's Fury", and summons health-based guardian adds (one known to spawn around 75%, 65%, 55%, and 50%; and three more as you take it down from 50% and 0% - specific points unknown).

Kill the three Sergeants and then the Captain to update the task.

When missing Xulous Prime flag, after "group" she says

Adana Baxter says, 'Wait, are you sure you're ready? I'm not sure. So we can't do this yet.'

Surprisingly easy at 105.

When we zoned in, we found 5 LB trash mobs as well as the nameds. I wondered if those are the mobs that get "summoned" to the final fight. So made sense to clear them first. Well, they can't be aggro'd until you do the initial hail of Kyle Bayle. Then we found 4 of the 5 could be snared, pulled and killed. One "a royal healer" could not be touched. Every swing or cast yielded a message like "You cannot cast on a royal healer." So I figured this toon is being preserved as the add for the final fight with Kanteer.

Okay, pulled and killed the 3 Sergeants. Trivial fights except the Bayle buff on Larenzo does make this fight take a bit longer. Good to use high-level DS buffs here so the mob helps kill itself.

Final fight: pulled Kanteer and switched to burn mode. HPs dropped VERY fast. Got ONE add, but it was a royal scout, and since none were up when we zoned in, this was clearly a real "summoned" mob. The previously-mentioned a royal healer never joined in. We burned down Kanteer so fast (30 seconds?) that we never got any more adds and since we left the scout for last we got the "Meaningless Reinforcements" achievement (4 extra AA's.)

Seems time-based. And they do reset/respawn if you wipe and the Captain regens. :(

Tried this a few times using first BL pet, maxed pet AAs and EM 15. Captain ate both for lunch and wiped the group. Playing possum failed so I couldn't see how long he corpse camped. Brought in mage, 10.9k AA w/air pet (max pet AAs and EM15) the next time and was doing okay but the adds didn't come as stated in previous posts. First add came at 63%, then 2 around 50-55%, 1 around 35% and another at 25%. The 2 at 50% threw things off since I couldn't kill them off fast enough. Captain did recast the Bayle's buff about 10 seconds after it wore off.

Oh, and the adds don't spawn elsewhere and run like some of the other DH missions, they spawned right on top of the Captain.

I tried mezzing a healer add, it was immune. Ranger bump/root did stick 1 out of 3 times, so it looks like at least one type of add mob can be root CC'd.

We've cleared this a couple times now. If you want to make your life easier on this mission make sure to either bring a player tank or a mage pet. Our 1st go was with 100wiz, 100zerk and 100clr with 1 tank merc, 1 burn merc and 1 healer merc. I went in to do the opening hail and cleared my aggro just like the previous posters. Sergeants Grady and Brenn didn't seem any harder than trash mobs, only took a few sec for the wiz and zerker to kill them. Sergeant Lorenzo took considerably longer as his Protection of Bayle buff was up the entire time (or more appropriately, he instantly recast it when it wore off). Probably took us 90 sec or so to drop him as the zerker was the only one that got any real damage through. The fight with Captain Kanteer started out the same way as with Lorenzo, the pro bayle buff blocked most of the dmg we had available. We got our 1st add at around 75%, and another around 60%. Around 55% I was no longer able to keep the merc tank alive so I took over tanking. Another add popped out near 50% and sometime very soon after that the captains pro bayle buff came off or he didnt recast it. At this point the wizard unloaded on him. 3 more adds came out sometime between 50% and 0%, but he died so fast between there I didn't catch the exact %'s. While his pro bayle buff was on the wizard had been dealing with the adds so they didnt seem to have too many hps. After the adds were down we went back and hailed Adana and then grabbed our loot.

For our 2nd go, we brought a 100 mage along and pulled the tank merc from the line-up to see if it would make the last fight any easier. The 3 sergeant fights basically went the same, except the mage's earth pet is obviously about 10 times easier to heal than a tank merc. For the Captain, had the mage VT the pet and sent it in followed by the standard mage army. Had the zerk hang back and throw axes at him with the wizard waiting for adds to pop and the bayle buff to drop. Keeping the eath pet healed was a breeze compared to trying to heal a merc and then later tanking it myself. The wizard killed the 1st 2 adds when they popped out. Sometime just before the captain hit 50%, his bayle buff came off and the unloading began. I had enough time to get turn undead cast and 2 tics in and then he was dead. Again, 3 adds popped out somewhere between 50% and 0%. We finished up the adds then went back to hail Adana and get our loot.

Both times we got Chandelier Bib Necklace.
Here's the screenie of it.

A 1 time only so not nearly as good as people will tweak it later. Boxed this 3 mages + 3 healer mercs. Group is all 100s at least 7K AA's on the lowest, all RoF.tier4 and CotF.tier1 vis, same for non-vis. Pets EM15 focused.

After clearing agro on the 1st step, we used malo to pull just fine (no summoning, or other effects that make it difficult to pull)

(1) Hail Kyle Bayle: First kill becomes active an attack. Some way to drop agro is good.
(2) Larenzo came with a healer. Easy kills for our group, we always drop healers first.
(3) Grady also a healer I think. Same as above.
(4) This guy came with a buff, didn't run a log to check, looked like a necro cup-o-nasty icon... except it looked like groundswell bodyguard icon on one of my mages (go figure). At any rate he got pretty hard to kill at the end.

(5) Not sure if it was time or % based but he spawned 3 wizzies and a healer(?) at 20%. He also hit very hard.
--We wiped first pass. Immediate summon and death on a pet death.
--2nd pass we ran pets only + RS spams, kicked VT on the mages (extra pet damage) and they shredded him 70-20 pretty quickly. At about 25% I accidentally hit a rain spell, adds came and caught it, summoned mage and dead. Finished with 2 but the point is, be prepared to get summoned if take agro.

Would be a very fast mission after 1st run-through.
