Call of the Forsaken Info & Guides: Overview | Progression & Task List | Raiding | Visible Armor

About Heroic Adventures

- Heroic adventures in Call of the Forsaken scale in level: As low as Level 75 and up to current maximum level.
- Scale is based on the highest level player present in the zone and affects difficulty, loot quality, and mob levels.
- There is some variation/randomization in the task steps you'll be assigned as you progress through the task.
- Time of completion will vary by your group's makeup (anywhere from 30-90+ minutes).
- Collection items appear as ground spawns midway through tasks (you'll see an emote indicating their appearance).
- Named mobs (or their PHs) spawn midway through tasks (usually, but always, at the same time collection items appear).
- These tasks have individual 3-hour lockout timers (timer gained upon completion).

Experience in Heroic Adventures

- Mobs in these instances grant some experience, but the bulk of experience is earned upon task completion.
- As of a patch in November 2014, less difficult tasks were tuned to reward less experience and more difficult ones were tuned to reward more.
- For an added experience bonus, check out Guard Hamarn's "Daily Tasks".

This is a heroic adventure (1-6 players) that begins with Marla Gaslow (click for map image) in the Ethernere Tainted West Karana. She is located in the guard camp where the Guild Hall portal sends you (/loc -1000, 345, -315).

TASK IN DETAIL

========================================================================
TRIGGERING THE TASK
========================================================================

You say, 'Hail, Marla Gaslow'

Marla Gaslow says 'I heard that the village nearly burned to the ground. Is it true?' The farmer fights back tears as she speaks, 'At least not all was lost. Lives and crops were spared; I guess I should be thankful for that, but where will our families go? Surely things will get worse before they get better. We need [shelter] if we plan to survive.'

You say, 'Shelter?'

Marla Gaslow says 'There's a camp run by the McMannus family, just west of our village. They've managed to salvage much of their shelters and parts of their streams still run with clean, cool water. The survivors from my village need to seek refuge in their camp, but the McMannus family is weary of outsiders. We're simple farmers who lack the skills of negotiation. You, on the other hand, you've been places and seen things! I can tell by that sparkle of adventure in your eye. Please, _____, [help] us secure refuge in the McMannus' camp? I know this is something you can accomplish.'

You say, 'We will help!'

Marla Gaslow takes your hand gently in hers with a warm smile, 'Thank you, _____. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'll show you the way to the village when you are [ready] to leave.'

You have been assigned the task 'Seeking Refuge'.

Marla Gaslow has asked that you help the displaced people of her village find refuge in the McMannus camp to the south.

You say, 'Ready!'

Marla Gaslow says 'This way, _____.'

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered Ethernere Tainted West Karana.

========================================================================
STEP #1
========================================================================

Seek out Einhorst McMannus and secure refuge for the villagers 0/1 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: Einhorst is the leader of the McMannus clan. You'll need to speak with him about seeking refuge for the displaced villagers.

If You Get This Step: Einhorst McMannus is inside the western hut in the McMannus camp.

You say, 'Hail, Einhorst McMannus'

Einhorst McMannus says 'You reek of smoke and despair, traveler. I don't suppose you ventured here from our neighboring village, the one that just burned to the ground? If you've come seeking [refuge], I'm afraid you won't find it here.''

You say, 'They want refuge'

Einhorst McMannus says 'Take a look around. This camp is made up of clan McMannus. We're strong, hardworking, and never accept defeat. This is why we are still here, and others have perished. The weak will not prosper within our walls.' The toughened barbarian looks you over with new interest, 'But you're not one of the weak ones, are you _____? I think there is more to you than your appearance lets on. If you can prove yourself useful, then I will see about letting you and your villagers into our camp, but you'll have to impress my family as well. Each of them will have tasks for you. Earn their respect, and you will earn mine.'

========================================================================
STEP #2
========================================================================

Speak to Hefholm McMannus 0/1 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: You can find Hefholm in the cabin just east of Einhorst.

If You Get This Step: Hefholm McMannus is in the cabin to the east.

You say, 'Hail, Hefholm McMannus'

Hefholm McMannus says 'Greetings, _____. Einhorst said I'd be paid a visit by someone looking for refuge in our camp, our home that was built by the McMannus family. It may not look like much now, but we will rebuild. If you want a place within our walls, you will need to aid our efforts. Our shelters are constructed with wood and thick mud, that hardens like rock when dry. Show that you have the strength and skill to gather supplies, and you will earn my respect.'

Hefholm McMannus says 'This camp was built by my family. Our blood, sweat, and strength have kept us alive. We may have lost a great deal during recent events, but we will rebuild and be stronger than ever.'

========================================================================
STEP #3
========================================================================

Gather wood to help build and repair structures 0/10 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: You'll need to collect wood to help rebuild structures. Wood planks can be found on treants to the west.

If You Get This Step: Loot 10x "Wooden Plank" from treants.

=====================

Gather clumps of mud to help build and repair structures 0/10 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: ?

If You Get This Step: Loot 10x "Clump of Mud" from mudsouls and mudspirits.

=====================

Clear the land of stumps and roots to make room for new structures 0/14 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: ?

If You Get This Step: Standard kill update (living stumps and withered roots).

========================================================================
STEP #4
========================================================================

Speak to Sharhessa McMannus 0/1 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: (nothing)

If You Get This Step: Speak with Sharhessa McMannus to update the step. She's located on top of the southwestern-most sunken hut.

You say, 'Hail, Sharhessa McMannus'

Sharhessa McMannus wipes her hands off before offering one up in greeting, 'Nice to meet you, _____. Einhorst mentioned you're trying to find refuge for some villagers. I hate turning folks away, but we already have too many mouths to feed. You wouldn't believe how much some of the McMannus men can eat! I suppose if you could prove to me that you can hunt and gather for yourself, I'd be willing to give my blessing.

========================================================================
STEP #5
========================================================================

Collect crocodile meat to help feed the refugees 0/8 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: ?

If You Get This Step: Loot 8x "Crocodile Meat" from crocodiles.

=====================

Collect bear meat to help feed the refugees 0/8 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: Bears roam the land just north of the McMannus camp.

If You Get This Step: Loot 8x "Bear Meat" from bears. These are fairly weak mobs, hitting for a max ~4,500 with fewer hitpoints than typical mobs here.

=====================

Collect lion meat to help feed the refugees 0/8 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: ?

If You Get This Step: Loot 8x "Lion Meat" from lions.

========================================================================
STEP #6
========================================================================

Speak to Sahen McMannus 0/1 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: (nothing)

If You Get This Step: Speak with Sahen McMannus to update the step. She's found in the southwestern corner of the main McMannus island.

You say, 'Hail, Sahen McMannus'

Sahen McMannus says 'Hail, _____. Let's make this quick. I need to focus my attention on the fields and mountains that surround our camp. We face many threats out here, but the Harrowing Horde are the worst. They suck the life out of the soil, leaving empty wasteland in their wake. I won't let you and your villagers into this camp unless I know for certain that you're strong enough to protect them, and yourself. Kill Harrowing Horde creatures, and you will have my blessing to stay within the camp.'

========================================================================
STEP #7
========================================================================

Kill Doomscale cultists that threaten the McMannus' camp 0/14 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: ?

If You Get This Step: Standard kill update.

=====================

Kill Harrowing Horde creatures threaten the McMannus' camp 0/14 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: The Harrowing Horde tend to gather in small groups north of the McMannus camp.

If You Get This Step: Standard kill update (skirths, tiruns, orafiks, geheins).

=====================

Kill undead that threaten the McMannus' camp 0/14 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: ?

If You Get This Step: Standard kill update (skeletons, ghouls, flesh eaters).

========================================================================
STEP #8
========================================================================

Return to Einhorst McMannus 0/1 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: Return to Einhorst McMannus to see if you will be allowed refuge in his camp.

If You Get This Step: Speak with Einhorst McMannus to complete the task.

You say, 'Hail, Einhorst McMannus'

Einhorst McMannus says 'I've spoken with my family members, and it appears you won't be a burden on our camp. However, the McMannus family will not be responsible for your guests. You will be held accountable for their actions, and I trust that you will ensure they are fed and otherwise cared for. All that being said, welcome to our family.'

Today our group of level 80-81s were turned away by Marla Gaslow as she stated she is looking for someone with a little more experience. Why would Clayton be so mean to give us that task if we are 'too tender' for it? I do have to admit, that it was the first task from Clayton for one group member. The other members had done the Bixie initial quest. Could any of that have something to do with why we weren't able to do it? I was under the impression that all of Clayton's tasks scaled to the level of the group.

Paid 8 AA's for completion as part of the Daily Tasks during a +50% XP weekend. It's normally 5 AA's so the XP bonus effect affects that as well.

Easy at 105, for sure. Earned 73 AA's per toon in group, on double-XP weekend with 100% XP potion running at final hail. Drop rates are very high, like 75% for kill steps requiring loots off mobs. For the "kill so many of a mob type" steps spawns are just about exactly how many you need to kill so it helps save time to have a tracker to locate that last mob which is hiding out somewhere. He probably got word that there's a hit team on the prowl for him... Smiley: yikes

If the named PH spawns instead of the named (a doomscale soultaker) can the named spawn when the PH is killed? Or does killing the PH mean no named will spawn in that given HA? Im guessing each HA has a small chance to spawn a boss.. im 0 for 15 though.

Paid 147 to each of three 100's. We took our time in the progress of the quest. Our general impression is that the drop rate on the collect tasks we did - mud and crocodile meat - was quite high. Better than 80%.
