Call of the Forsaken Info & Guides: Overview | Progression & Task List | Raiding | Visible Armor

About Heroic Adventures

- Heroic adventures in Call of the Forsaken scale in level: As low as Level 75 and up to current maximum level.
- Scale is based on the highest level player present in the zone and affects difficulty, loot quality, and mob levels.
- There is some variation/randomization in the task steps you'll be assigned as you progress through the task.
- Time of completion will vary by your group's makeup (anywhere from 30-90+ minutes).
- Collection items appear as ground spawns midway through tasks (you'll see an emote indicating their appearance).
- Named mobs (or their PHs) spawn midway through tasks (usually, but always, at the same time collection items appear).
- These tasks have individual 3-hour lockout timers (timer gained upon completion).

Experience in Heroic Adventures

- Mobs in these instances grant some experience, but the bulk of experience is earned upon task completion.
- As of a patch in November 2014, less difficult tasks were tuned to reward less experience and more difficult ones were tuned to reward more.
- For an added experience bonus, check out Guard Hamarn's "Daily Tasks".

This is a heroic adventure (1-6 players) that begins with Lark D`Tradis (click for map image) in Neriak Fourth Gate. She is located at 600, -1800, 67 (outside the tunnel due north of the bridge in the far northeastern part of the zone).

TASK IN DETAIL

========================================================================
TRIGGERING THE TASK
========================================================================

You say, 'Hail, Lark D`Tradis'

Lark D`Tradis says, in Dark Elvish, 'I'm no longer convinced these traps and obstacles are my father's doing, all of this is unlike him. I fear someone or something is controlling him and my brothers. I just hope we can get to him in time. If you are ready to [continue] I'm sure the end to this journey lies in that library.'

You say, 'Let's continue...'

Lark D`Tradis says, in Dark Elvish, 'Excellent, are you [ready to go] now?'

You have been assigned the task 'Late Checkout'.

Lark no longer fears that her father aims to bring about his own destruction. She is convinced someone or something is manipulating him and her family. Whatever it may be, the answer rests within the sealed library.

You say, 'Ready to go!'

Lark D`Tradis says, in Dark Elvish, 'I shall meet you on the road. I believe it was this way...'

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered Neriak - Fourth Gate.

  1. Investigate the first floor of the library 0/1 (Neriak Fourth Gate)

Task Window Says: Though the flames at the entrance of the library have dissipated, the first floor is uncomfortably warm. However, the end of this story stands in the center of the room.

If You Get This Step: This is a location update.

a Teir`Dal arcanist says, in Elder Teir'Dal, 'So the songbird returns to the nest...'

Lark D`Tradis shouts, in Dark Elvish, 'What have you done to my father!?'

a Teir`Dal arcanist says, in Elder Teir'Dal, 'The old man has proved invaluable to my master. So easily drawing away the attention of the divided houses while we work.'

Lark D`Tradis shouts, in Dark Elvish, 'Answer me!'

a Teir`Dal arcanist says, in Elder Teir'Dal, 'We are not quite done with him, but your mercenaries are proving to be quite a distraction.'

The wizard raises his hands in the air and the hall begins to shake.

A great shockwave throws you backwards against the wall.

Everyone is warped back to the zone-in and feigned death.

  2. Defeat the Arcanist's guardians 0/12 (Neriak Fourth Gate)

Task Window Says: The wizard who has been manipulating Shirik's gargoyle has shielded himself from intrusion. Defeat his guardians to destroy the shield preventing you from entering the center of the room.

If You Get This Step: Kill the dark elves and ghosts in the room (nothing particularly special about them; the dark elves are a bit harder than the ghosts).

a Teir`Dal arcanist shouts, in Elder Teir'Dal, 'Fight all you want, you'll never save him!'

As the final guardian falls the shield protecting the center of the room dissipates.

a Teir`Dal arcanist shouts, in Elder Teir'Dal, 'Very well, Songbird. Let us see which of your father's creations shall survive this confrontation!'

  3. Defeat Shirik's Corrupted Guardian 0/1 (Neriak Fourth Gate)

Task Window Says: The powerful gargoyle has nowhere to run. Defeat it once and for all!

If You Get This Step: Kill Shirik`s Corrupted Guardian.

As with the previous heroic adventure, this corrupted guardian has the same four stances:

    - Normal (lasts for first 25 seconds of the fight and does not repeat).

After the initial 25 seconds passes, the following three stances cycle:

    - Enraged (lasts for 15 seconds)
--- immune to ranged DPS; frequently AE rampages; hasted attacks.

    - Shielded (lasts for 10 seconds)
--- rooted in place; susceptible to ranged attacks; for every nuke or DOT cast on it (including weapon procs) AND for every 2% damage to it, casts directional AEs for 61k dmg (left/right/rear).

    - Weakened (lasts for 15 seconds)
--- becomes unrooted; hasted attack speed.

NOTE: Each time Lark D`Tradis is hit by one of these retaliation AEs, the Corrupted Guardian gains 10% mitigation to spell and melee attacks (up to a maximum 50%).

It hits for a max ~22,000; single-target rampages; and flurries. Note that this mob does not reset, so if you wipe out, you'll have to re-engage it from 100% in its current stance and with its current mitigations. You'll see emotes as the fight goes on:

Shirik`s Guardian (Shielding) retaliates to _____'s spell.
--- (response to a nuke, DOT, or proc in shielded form)

Shirik's Guardian retaliates to your continued assault.
--- (response to 2% damage in shielded form)

Lark D`Tradis winces as the gargoyle's breath surrounds her.
--- (Guardian gains 10% damage mitigation)

Shirik's Guardian gains a measure of Lark's power.
--- (Guardian gains 10% damage mitigation)

Shirik's Guardian glows red with rage!
    --- (Guardian enters enraged form)

Shirik's Guardian surrounds itself with a powerful shield.
    --- (Guardian enters shielded form)

    Shirik's Guardian staggers, momentarily weakened.
    --- (Guardian enters weakened form)

  4. Clear a path to the upper floor 0/8 (Neriak Fourth Gate)

    Task Window Says: ?

If You Get This Step: Standard kill updates.

  5. Look for Shirik D`Tradis 0/1 (Neriak Fourth Gate)

    Task Window Says: ?

If You Get This Step: This is a location update and triggers a script.

  6. Defeat Rylit, Tarant`s Arcanist 0/1 (Neriak Fourth Gate)

    Task Window Says: ?

If You Get This Step: Five ghosts; DPS 10% of each one's health at which point it will reveal itself as either 'fake' or 'real' (repeat x5 until 'real one' is dead).

Note: One of the AE effects here has an Alcohol Tolerance check (unknown level required to prevent drunkedness).

The Rylit, Tarant`s Arcanist casts "Unease" (slows spell casting), "Misery" (30k DOT and drunk if Alcohol Tolerance is below 330), "Neglect" (silence on melee skills), "Turmoil" (prevents detrimental casting), and "Agitation" (melee slow and snare). These are spell IDs 42016-42020.

These all last 3 ticks, and they are all targeted AEs (20'), so your group can mitigate problems if you spread out from each other. The drunk effect of "Misery" lasts MUCH longer than 3 ticks, so the further below the 330 checkpoint you are, the more ...miserable... a fight you'll be in for.

His projections (ghosts) can also cast these effects, but do so much less frequently.

Five ghosts of the arcanist: DPS them one at a time to 90%. As each reaches 90%, it reveals itself as a fake target or a real target. If it's a fake target, that single ghost despawns. If it's a real target, then all the ghosts despawn and the arcanist spawns in its place. DPS the arcanist to 75% to respawn the five ghosts.

Repeat this process again to 75% (arcanist to 50%), then to 50% (arcanist to 25%), then to 25% (arcanist to 0%), then to its death.

All ghosts cast random targeted AEs (you'll have one AE going off every 10 seconds). The arcanist also casts random targeted AEs (two casts at a time every 30 seconds AND one cast for every 4% health lost).

  7. Speak with Lark 0/1 (Neriak Fourth Gate)

    Task Window Says: ?

If You Get This Step: Hail Lark to complete the task.

Thanks, added these spells to the NPC listing and the quest text.

Tried several time with :
SK + mercs (cleric/wiz/wiz) + 2 box parked away
Wiz mercs wiped themselves on shirik due to shield. tried several times.

then succeed 1 st tial with 2 real players
Mag + Sk + cleric mercs.

On last fight no drunk effect on SK (Hight AT), but effect on the chanter box.

Something that was not obvious for me in last fight description :
All the adds are rooted in corners of the room, so they don't run to the group and can be tanked one by one - no need to mez.
It was possible to med to 100% in the mid fight at the entrance hall of the room (just before starting to beat Rylit from 50% to 25%) cause some mercs were oom, but AE spell are on and can disturb everywhere in the zone so this takes few mins. We did it when Adds were up - did not try when Rylit Up

Awards 17 AA's to a 105 toon upon completion.

The final fight is a bit of a pain, especially with the alcohol effect. However I didn't find the negative "drunk" buff as obnoxious as it used to be. When I was leveling up AT many years ago you could get so "looped" that you literally couldn't move in a straight line and any casting got constantly interrupted. Here we could chase the boss and his projections around and even longer-casting spells weren't interrupted most of the time.

First try we wiped on the boss when he was about 22%. Very aggravating. However since we must have gotten past all the projection triggers, once we rebuffed and came back, even though the boss had regen'd to 100%, the fight was straightforward with no interruption for projection spawns. Thank Karana for that.

I'd recommend this HA as an easy one, since the zone is small and linear and the kills easy and quick. The 4 collectibles are trivial to find since the zone has almost no hiding places. But the final fight isn't worth the time, really. For 17 AA's there are other HA's easier to complete. This one isn't bad if you want the collectibles, which are some of the difficult to find "Family" ones. The 4 I found doing this HA once sell for as much as 400k collectively in the Bazaar.

Named PH is the a hatestorm dervish spawns in first room on the right side.

Glowies are throughout the zone on the walls.

For the final event i would suggest hanging out in the center area. I found it easier to keyboard turn to the different ghosts and kill them. Typically after 2nd dies the boss will spawn in its place. watch for ramp and other lame aoe's and expect a CR if you are not prepared.

On final boss one of the debuffs u get makes u drunk, not sure on how much AT you need to avoid it but when i boxed this task, all 3 of my toons had at most 150 AT and were totally drunk pretty quickly, makes the fight much harder and very annoying and then u stay very drunk for 20 or so mins after too. You are down to 130 wis / int very fast. Good thing boss fight doesn't reset.

This should be worth mentioning. Last night I have completed all three of these with a group of lvl 100 SK, MAG and ENCH (box). The enchanter would cast his AA slow Dreary Deeds and on most mobs it wouldn't stick. The slow would land but seconds later we'd get a message "Your dreary deeds spell has worn off". Interesting fight with Shirik's Corrupted Guardian knowing we can't keep him slow!
