About Heroic Adventures

- Heroic adventures in Call of the Forsaken scale in level: As low as Level 75 and up to current maximum level.
- Scale is based on the highest level player present in the zone and affects difficulty, loot quality, and mob levels.
- There is some variation/randomization in the task steps you'll be assigned as you progress through the task.
- Time of completion will vary by your group's makeup (anywhere from 30-90+ minutes).
- Collection items appear as ground spawns midway through tasks (you'll see an emote indicating their appearance).
- Named mobs (or their PHs) spawn midway through tasks (usually, but always, at the same time collection items appear).
- These tasks have individual 3-hour lockout timers (timer gained upon completion).

Experience in Heroic Adventures

- Mobs in these instances grant some experience, but the bulk of experience is earned upon task completion.
- As of a patch in November 2014, less difficult tasks were tuned to reward less experience and more difficult ones were tuned to reward more.

This is a heroic adventure (1-6 players) that begins with Lark D`Tradis (click for map image) in Neriak Fourth Gate. She is located at 600, -1800, 67 (outside the tunnel due north of the bridge in the far northeastern part of the zone).

Pre-Requisites for Requesting:
- Level 75
- No tasks



TASK SUMMARY

- Say "help" to request the task and "ready to go" to zone in.

Step #1:
- Clear a path to the first room 0/6
--- Kill update (warriors and knights).
- Clear a path to the first room 0/6
--- Kill update (evokers and conjurers).

Step #2:
- Recover Shirik's Missive from one of his soldiers 0/1
--- Kill commanders until you get an update.
- Question Shirik's soldiers about his whereabouts 0/1
--- Hail commanders and engage in dialogue or kill until you get the update.
- Recover Shirik's Missive from his fallen soldiers 0/1
--- /inspect corpses and /open until you get update (armed corpses spawn 1-2 ambush mobs).

- Task LOCKS at this point.

Step #3:
- Clear a path to the next room 0/8
--- Kill update (undead constructs).
- Clear a path to the next room 0/8
--- Kill update (bats and beetles).
- Clear a path to the next room 0/8
--- Kill update (brainwashed Teir`Dal soldiers).

- At this point in the task, collectibles spawn in the zone (ground spawns) and a named (or its PH) has a chance to spawn.

Step #4:
- Defeat Shirik's constructed guardian 0/1
--- DPS gargoyle down to 15% to update step.
- Get through Shirik's trap 0/1
--- Four gargoyle statues; /inspect them to see if armed; use pickpocket or disarm skills to obtain keys, or kill and loot.

Step #5:
- Clear a path to the Doomscale portal 0/6
--- Kill mobs that ambush you on the way to the portal (mobs don't see invis).
- Clear a path to the Doomscale portal 0/6
--- Kill brainwashed Teir`Dal citizens.
- Clear a path to the Doomscale portal 0/6
--- Kill doppelgangers of your group.

Step #6:
- Make camp in the safety of the portal room 0/1
--- Location update.

Step #7:
- Defend Lark from the hostile spirits 0/11
--- Kill four waves of mobs (2, then 2, then 3, then 4).

Step #8:
- Speak with Lark 0/1
--- Hail update.

- As soon as the objective for Step #8 is done, the task completes.

You say, 'Hail, Lark D`Tradis'

Lark D`Tradis says, in Dark Elvish, 'Oh yes, you will do perfectly.' She pauses, 'Oh, the necessary pleasantries... Hello, _____, I have a proposition for you. You see my foolhardy father stormed off after an argument with the king's loyalists a few days ago and I have not seen or heard from him since. Thus, I could use your [help] in tracking him down. You will be paid fairly, of course.'

You say, 'I will help'

Lark D`Tradis says, in Dark Elvish, 'Excellent, are you [ready to go] now?'

You have been assigned the task 'The Toll Road'.

Lark D`Tradis has enlisted your party's aid in finding her father. She worries that his senility has claimed the last of his senses and that he will get himself and her family killed in his aimless war against both houses of Thex.

You say, 'Ready to go!'

Lark D`Tradis says, in Dark Elvish, 'I shall meet you on the road. I believe it was this way...'

    Task Window Says: A small brigade of arcanists stand guard aiming to stop any outsiders from passing through the tunnels. They exhibit and eerie soullessness in their quiet vigilance.

    If You Get This Step: Kill update (kill six evokers and conjurers). Note that these mobs tend to be very resistant to spells and discs.

    If You Get This Step: In the first clearing are five named commanders. They hit for a max ~17,000, and are immune to mez and stun. Kill these until you loot "Shirik's Missive".

    If You Get This Step: Using the language Elder Teir`Dal, hail the commanders, see how they respond to the hail, and then respond to them however you'd like (some responses will generate aggro; some will ignore you; one will update the step).

    If You Get This Step: You'll find five commander corpses. /inspect them (will tell if you if armed) and /open until you get update. When you /open an armed corpse, you get ambushed by 1-2 mobs.

    Reportedly, you can avoid the ambush by using the "Archaeologist's Automated Antiquity Analyzer" on the corpses.

    Task Window Says: The normally docile fauna have begun acting hostile toward anyone trespassing through their domain. You will have to fight your way to the next clearing.

    If You Get This Step: Standard kill update (bats and beetles). Note that the cave bats in this area see invisibility.

    STEP #4
    ========================================================================

  • Defeat Shirik's constructed guardian 0/1 (Neriak Fourth Gate)

    Task Window Says: A stone behemoth stands guard in front of a wall of flame. No doubt left by Shirik himself as a last ditch effort should his guards have failed to halt any intruders.

    If You Get This Step: DPS "Shirik`s Guardian" down to 15% health (hits for a max ~21,000; has a lot of hitpoints). As you fight it, it alternates between an "enraged" state (AE rampages and some flurries; immune to all ranged DPS) and weakened (vulnerable to all DPS).

    The grinding of stone can be heard throughout the cavern as the great creature comes to life!

    Shirik's Guardian glows red with rage!

    Shirik's Guardian staggers, momentarily weakened.

    At 15%:

    Shirik's Guardian stumbles backwards through the wall of flame and escapes down the hall.

  • Get through Shirik's trap 0/1 (Neriak Fourth Gate)

    Task Window Says: Several stone statues stand idly by in front of a wall of flame. You think you spot a shimmering light in one of their hands, but upon closer inspection you are unsure if your mind was simply playing tricks on you.

    If You Get This Step: Four gargoyle statues are in the room. /inspect them to see if they're armed. You can use pickpocket or disarm skills to obtain keys (this will require MANY attempts with many failures), or you can kill them and loot (DPS to 70% to aggro, then kill). Right-click the key to update the step.

    You can also target them and /open them. Doing this gives the emote:

    You grasp onto the gargoyle's claws and begin to pull with all your might. The sound of grinding stone grows louder as its grip loosens slightly.

    ...And the ward takes 10% damage. At 60%, the ward turns into a Level 104 "a stone ward" and attacks with the emote:

    The cavern shakes as the stone gargoyle lets loose a furious roar!

    Kill these until you loot a "Frozen Key". Target "a stone ward" and click/cast the key at it. This completes the step.

  • Clear a path to the Doomscale portal 0/6 (Neriak Fourth Gate)

    If You Get This Step: Kill mobs that ambush you on the way to the portal (mobs don't see invis).

    If You Get This Step: Kill brainwashed Teir`Dal citizens.

  • Clear a path to the Doomscale portal 0/6 (Neriak Fourth Gate)

    Task Window Says: In the distance you hear the soft echo of laughter. Ahead on the trail you spot a frightening sight.

    If You Get This Step: Kill worthy adversaries (hopefully, they're worthy) along the path. These mobs hit for a max ~15,750 and occasionally flurry and rampage.

    The hall ahead of you is suspiciously empty, save for a few points of glowing light.
    Tread with care as you progress and perhaps you'll get the jump on whatever silent assassins may be lying in wait.

    Umbraeques trips over a stone, alerting nearby assassins!

    Umbraeques carefully nudges a trapped stone allowing you to get the jump nearby assassins!
    (I was invis on the second one, not sure if that made a difference)

    STEP #6
    ========================================================================

  • Make camp in the safety of the portal room 0/1 (Neriak Fourth Gate)

    Task Window Says: Though the road has been treacherous you have made it this far. Soon you will reach the library that Lark believes her father has barricaded himself in. Ensure Lark has made it safely to the campfire by the Doomscale portal and await further instructions.

    If You Get This Step: This is a location update in the Ethernere portal room. NOTE: This will trigger the spawn of two hostile mobs. As you approach Lark, you see:

    A cold gust of wind whistles through the cavern. In the chill you hear a whispered voice say, 'Turn back!'

    Lark D`Tradis ducks down by the fire seeking protection from the phantoms. She cries, 'Father! Stop this at once!' You assume this would be a bad time to [leave].

    STEP #7
    ========================================================================

  • Defend Lark from the hostile spirits 0/1 (Neriak Fourth Gate)

    Task Window Says: It would appear this camp is hardly safe at all! Protect yourself from the bloodthirsty undead.

    If You Get This Step: Here, you'll need to kill four waves of mobs, the first of which spawns as you approach Lark D`Tadris in the portal room. Sometimes the mob names will be different for each wave.
    - Two mobs: 2x "a lingering bonewalker"
    - Two mobs: 2x "a phantom"
    - Three mobs: 1x "a lingering bonewalker" + 1x "a phantom" + 1x "a projection"
    - Four mobs: 2x "a lingering bonewalker" + 1x "a phantom" + 1x "a projection"

    Note: When the mobs initially spawn, they aggro any players within their aggro range regardless of invis or IVU; however, the mobs themselves are NOT auto-aggro (if you are standing far enough away from their spawn points - which are around the room - they won't actually aggro you). The mobs all hit for a max ~10,000 and are varyingly susceptible to crowd control.

    As the last of them are killed:

    Lark D`Tradis shouts, in Dark Elvish, 'I think that's the last of them!'

  • Speak with Lark 0/1 (Neriak Fourth Gate)

    Task Window Says: Speak with Lark about what must be done next.

    If You Get This Step: Hail to complete the task.

    You say, 'Hail, Lark D`Tradis'

    Lark D`Tradis breathes an exhausted sigh of relief as she hastily sits by the campfire, 'Thank you, _____. I need some time to collect myself before we journey further. You may take your [leave] now and return to me when you are ready to continue.'

    You've done well to clear the road to the library, but there is still a ways to go to find Lark's father.

    ran through to end no problem wiped on last wave recoverd corpses in regular zone and now i cant get back in the instanced i get perhaps you would be able to enter if there was a reason to come here so i figure if you faile or die on last bit lark must die and you loose no matter how much time you have left

    For the last fight where them undeads come in wave if you can't handle them if you can evac or gate out then come back they will be all space out for single pull. It wouldn't be so bad if they aren't immune to mez.

    Click the key on the wall of flame. Key was on the last mob so there were no stone wards or gargoyles left to click the key on.

    Step 7 mobs seem to be random. We got different mobs on each wave than stated here. But the number of mobs was the same.

    looking down the hall I see nothing, but as you get closer, some areas glow yellow a bit, mobs spawn there!

    Also while walking towards the lit up areas, I got the following emotes as the mobs spawned:

    Umbraeques trips over a stone, alerting nearby assassins!

    Umbraeques carefully nudges a trapped stone allowing you to get the jump nearby assassins!
    (I was invis on the second one, not sure if that made a difference)

    Completion at level 105 earns 20 AA's. Found 3 of the Family collectibles, which is nice as they're tough to locate in the Bazaar, and pricey when they are offered. Not sure why didn't find the 4th. The zone is small and linear and scouted behind every rock and on top of every stalagmite.

    This is a good HA. It's pretty quick, gives 20 AA's and if you just want to pharm collectibles, they spawn pretty early in the instance.

    Quite a bit misleading. You don't have to target the stone ward. Good thing, too, since we had to kill all 4 of them and got the key on the last kill. They don't respawn so having to target the stone ward would be a BIG problem once they're all gone!

    With three level 95 toons and their mercs I could not last a minute with the gargoyles (guardians). They are red to me so not sure what level they are. Can they be a different level when I get the same adventure again? I have not had much trouble completing the HA's to this point but have found this one and The Toll Road in Dead Hills very difficult on the first attempt.

    The series with Lark D`Tradis is overtuned for the average group, especially with mercenary tanking or healing.

    I attempted to 2-box the lvl 85 tuned version - War/Enc with healer/rogue mercs. I've had good success 2-boxing other HAs, but Shirik's Guardian put a stop to this one.

    He was red to me and hit fairly hard. Healbot actually kept up pretty well at first, which made me think I might have a chance. Unfortunately he's also sporting some ridiculous HPs. After a minute or two it became pretty clear I wasn't going to walk away from this one.

    I used the archeologists automated antiquity analizer for this step on the corpses.
    I got a message that said "your carful manouvers draws away the attention of the ambushers"
    No attack on looting the corpse
