Call of the Forsaken Info & Guides: Overview | Progression & Task List | Raiding | Visible Armor

About Heroic Adventures

- Heroic adventures in Call of the Forsaken scale in level: As low as Level 75 and up to current maximum level.
- Scale is based on the highest level player present in the zone and affects difficulty, loot quality, and mob levels.
- There is some variation/randomization in the task steps you'll be assigned as you progress through the task.
- Time of completion will vary by your group's makeup (anywhere from 30-90+ minutes).
- Collection items appear as ground spawns midway through tasks (you'll see an emote indicating their appearance).
- Named mobs (or their PHs) spawn midway through tasks (usually, but always, at the same time collection items appear).
- These tasks have individual 3-hour lockout timers (timer gained upon completion).

Experience in Heroic Adventures

- Mobs in these instances grant some experience, but the bulk of experience is earned upon task completion.
- As of a patch in November 2014, less difficult tasks were tuned to reward less experience and more difficult ones were tuned to reward more.
- For an added experience bonus, check out Guard Hamarn's "Daily Tasks".

This is a heroic adventure (1-6 players) that begins with Skulk the Madaxe (click for map) in the Dead Hills. He is an ogre located inside a big tent at the dock camp just west of the zone-in point.

Pre-Requisites for Requesting:
- Level 75

TASK IN DETAIL

========================================================================
TRIGGERING THE TASK
========================================================================

You say, 'Hail, Skulk the Madaxe'

Skulk the Madaxe seems eager to speak, 'So you found her? She and the other strange ogres live in undead infested caves? Sounds awful to me. They must be pretty dumb to live in caves. You helped them though, that's smart. I bet they'd trust you now. Trust you enough to let you [look] for the artifact.'

You say, 'I'll look for it'

Skulk the Madaxe says 'Just say [when] you're ready to head back out there.'

You have been assigned the task 'Artifacts of Great Importance'.

Search for the missing artifact within the ogre camp located in the northeastern Dead Hills.

You say, 'When...'

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered The Dead Hills.

Inside, you'll find the Stonecap Clan has moved back into their homes and things are back to normal for them...

Brupp nods a greeting while holding a finger, 'Don't stick your hands in the cages. Those animals bite!'

Brupp says 'You'll be safe in our city, but be careful outside its walls. Lots of nasty things can be found in these hills.'

Mouga greets you with a trusting smile, 'Hello, _____. I've heard good things about you.'

And you'll hear Shoona griping at Prud:

Shoona sighs at Prud, 'Still here, I see. Don't you ever get sick of those mushrooms?'

Shoona eyes Prud with a hint of jealousy and mumbles under her breath, 'It must be nice to sit around and eat mushrooms all day.'

Shoona waves a hand in front of Prud, 'Hello? Can you even hear me? I think all those mushrooms have made mush of your brains.'

========================================================================
STEP #1
========================================================================

Speak to Brudo Gomph about historical ogre artifacts 0/1 (Dead Hills)

Task Window Says: Brudo can be found within the eastern most cave.

If You Get This Step: Despite what the task text tells you, he is found in the western cave. Just hail him and say "work" for the update.

You say, 'Hail, Brudo Gomph'

Brudo Gomph says 'Hello, _____ I've been told that you think an item of great importance may be hidden within our humble city. It's true, we have many artifacts in our cave structures, though it may take some [work] to uncover them. As an ally of the ogres, you're welcome to search within our caves for the artifact you're looking for, though remember that these items belong to the ogres. If you find an artifact you wish to keep, return to me and we can negotiate a fair trade.'

You say, 'Work? What?'

Brudo Gomph says 'Many artifacts are protected by guardians whose job it is to see that the artifacts are only obtained by those who prove themselves worthy. Others have been hidden in plain sight, but invisible to those whose intentions are not pure. No matter which obstacle you encounter, you'll need to prepare both mind and body before you begin your search.'

========================================================================
STEP #2
========================================================================

Participate in the ogre training event 0/7 (Dead Hills)

Task Window Says: Speak to Krag to begin the training event.

If You Get This Step: Speak to Krag to trigger a mini-event. Upon saying "ready", 4x "an eager contender spawn nearby. They are not auto-aggro and not aggro-linked, so they can be split from one another (stunnable and mezzable as well; hit for a max ~9,800).

Once you've killed those four mobs, two named ogre brothers spawn. They are about the same difficulty and can also be split from one another.

Once the two brothers are dead, Champion Cronk spawns. He hits for a max ~12,000; casts no spells; is immune to stun/mez/root.

You say, 'Hail, Krag'

Krag says 'You look pretty tough, _____. I'm sure you could teach us a thing or two about how to throw a punch. We've always been a peaceful bunch, but the recent arrival of undead in our city has forced us to take defensive action. My ogres haven't had the opportunity to train with someone from outside the city. This will be a great learning opportunity for them. Let me know when you're [ready] and I'll bring out your first opponents.'

You say, 'Ready!'

Krag calls over his shoulder, 'Come on out boys. It's time to learn to fight!'

=====================

Eat Lompi's Miracle Stew 0/1 (Dead Hills)

Task Window Says: Eating Lompi's Miracle Stew will strengthen your body, but the ogre cook needs spider eyes, rat meat, and solidified goo to make her famous dish.

If You Get This Step: Loot Rat Meat + Spider Eyes + Solidified Goo from mobs in the zone, and then hand them in to Lompi. In return, she gives you a stew. Right-click it to eat it.

Lompi Mudspice shakes her head as she looks you over, 'You look a bit frail, _____. I can fix that though. Just one bowl of my miracle stew will strengthen your body, bones, and especially your gut! The base is already bubbling in this pot. All I need are a few more ingredients, which you shouldn't have any trouble finding in the nearby caves.'

Kill rats in the northwestern cave until you've looted "Rat Meat", spiders in the eastern cave until you've looted "Spider Eyes", and cave sludges in the northeastern cave until you've looted "Solidifed Goo". Hand in these three items to Lompi Mudspice to receive the stew, and right-click the stew for the update:

You feel nauseous, but stronger.

=====================

Improve your combat skills by killing critters 0/12 (Dead Hills)

Task Window Says: ?

If You Get This Step: Speak to Skurk, and then click on the cage of whichever mobs you want to fight (12 mobs to kill).

========================================================================
STEP #3
========================================================================

Return to Brudo Gomph 0/1 (Dead Hills)

Task Window Says: Return to Brudo Gomph within the western ogre cave.

If You Get This Step: This is a hail update.

You say, 'Hail, Brudo Gomph'

Brudo Gomph says 'You're making good progress. Your body is clearly strong enough to defeat any challenges you'll face during your search, but you still need to prepare your mind. We all have weaknesses, but some are too proud to admit them. Confess your weaknesses to Oracle Udwoona. She will help you accept them and leave with a clear mind.'

========================================================================
STEP #4
========================================================================

Face your inner demons within the cave to the south 0/6 (Dead Hills)

Task Window Says: ?

If You Get This Step: This is a kill update (six mobs). These are all in the same cave down south (relatively small aggro radius). These will take your appearance.

=====================

Meditate within the southern cave and defeat your nightmares 0/8 (Dead Hills)

Task Window Says: ?

If You Get This Step: Sit in the small pool of water in the south cave (do this while invis). After 20 seconds, mobs called "a nightmare" spawn. Kill the nightmares to update the step.

=====================

Confess your weakness and overcome it within the southern caves 0/10 (Dead Hills)

Task Window Says: Oracle Udwoona will help you overcome your weaknesses near the south cave.

If You Get This Step: Speak to Oracle Udwoona outside the south cave, and choose a weakness (dialogue). This spawns several mobs of a certain type ("brutality" = "a bandit"; "greed" = "a rich merchant" + "a wealthy merchant"; "cowardice" = "a towering minotaur" + "a frightening minotaur"). Kill the mobs, and then speak with Udwoona.

You say, 'Hail, Oracle Udwoona'

Oracle Udwoona says 'Greetings, _____. At first glance, you appear strong, but I can see deep within your mind to where your true weakness lies. Now tell me, young _____, what do you perceive to be your greatest weakness? [Greed]? [Brutality]? Perhaps [cowardice]? Tell me which it is, and I will help you overcome it.'

You say, 'Brutality'

Oracle Udwoona nods, 'Enter the cave behind me where you will find your weakness in physical form. You can defeat them, _____, and leave here in better shape than when you arrived.'

As you kill mobs, you'll see emotes:

a bandit has been slain by _____!
You hear Oracle Udwoona's approving voice in your head, 'Well done. You showed restraint and granted mercy to a weak opponent.'

a wealthy merchant has been slain by _____!
--You have looted a Bag of Platinum.--
Oracle Udwoona's disappointed voice in your head, 'Continuing to be greedy isn't the way to overcome your weaknesses.'

Oracle Udwoona smiles, 'You look better, _____. Don't you feel better, too?'

========================================================================
STEP #5
========================================================================

Return to Brudo Gomph 0/1 (Dead Hills)

Task Window Says: Return to Brudo Gomph within the western ogre cave.

If You Get This Step: This is a hail update.

You say, 'Hail, Brudo Gomph'

Brudo Gomph looks you over with an approving smile, 'Well done, _____. You look strong and focused. You'll need that strength and determination to locate and obtain any artifacts.' The amiable ogre begins to write in your journal, 'I only have basic instructions to give you, but it should be enough to point you in the right direction. Good luck.'

========================================================================
STEP #6
========================================================================

Light the fire pits within the large cave to reveal an artifact 0/4 (Dead Hills)

Task Window Says: ?

If You Get This Step: Loot torches ("Skeleton Torch") from agitated skeletons, and use the torches to light the fire pits (target the fire pits and right-click to light). This will reveal the artifact in the middle of the area.

=====================

Ingest large amounts of living fungi to gain special sight 0/6 (Dead Hills)

Task Window Says: The deathcaps within the mushroom cave carry living fungus. Target yourself and right-click the pieces you find to eat them and gain special sight that will lead you to the artifact.

If You Get This Step: Loot 6x "Living Fungus" from deathcaps (there is a batch of them in the east and both north caves) and right-click them to ingest them. The "special sight" will lead you to the artifact's location.

=====================

Defeat stone protectors surrounding the artifact within the large cave 0/8 (Dead Hills)

Task Window Says: ?

If You Get This Step: This is a kill update (eight mobs).

========================================================================
STEP #7
========================================================================

Collect the ogre artifact 0/1 (Dead Hills)

Task Window Says: Click on the artifact to collect it.

If You Get This Step: Head into the northeastern caves and into the westernmost cave of that area. There, you'll find the artifact: a little bowl that sits in the middle of the room. Click the bowl in the northernmost cave (do this while invis) to receive "Mogok's Urn". This spawns 4x Xulous mobs.

========================================================================
STEP #8
========================================================================

Defeat the xulous ambushers 0/4 (Dead Hills)

Task Window Says: Xulous ambushers appeared as you collected the artifact. Kill them before they have a chance to steal what you've found.

If You Get This Step: This is a kill update (four mobs, splittable, NOT aggro-linked).

========================================================================
STEP #9
========================================================================

Return to Brudo Gomph 0/1 (Dead Hills)

Task Window Says: Return to Brudo Gomph within the western ogre cave.

If You Get This Step: This is a hail update.

You say, 'Hail, Brudo Gomph'

Brudo Gomph shakes his head as you inform him of the ambush, 'The infestation of xulous has become quite a problem for us. Although we have always maintained peace by staying within our camp, those creatures of disease invade whatever space they desire without thought for those that call the area home.' The ogre sighs, 'You'll have to excuse me, _____. I must speak with our leaders immediately to ensure that the xulous aren't lingering within the city. I trust you can find your way [back] to the docks.'

If you get the above step, note that you only need ONE of each drop, which are no-drop, to meet the task requirements for everyone in your group. Since they drop rather slowly, that IS a blessing.

My crew of 105's got 3 AA's of experience for doing the killing in this HA (probably about 40 mobs) and then 17 AA's as the reward for completing it. Not bad at all. I still prefer to do achievements and progression missions for my AAXP but if you want to tackle something rather quick and unchallenging for your AA's, HA's are definitely the way to go. And this was without an XP pot or LotD running.

Most of both mob types dropped Bag of Platinum. Upon looting one you get a message in your tell window saying:

Not sure how many heroics there are, think 17 total, we've only done 7 of them but, so far, this is the best farm heroic we've found. Our first five heroics (not this one) took 3 hours each on first tries and we never broke 2 hours on repeats. This one (this series actually) is much faster.

We are not an uber group, we have only RoF/CotF group gear, mage pets for tanks, mages for DPS. Although we fill the group up, two of the six are alts we drag around. We run no mercs.

We run this in 42-60 minutes depending on options and if the boss spawns.

To save auto-agro on a couple of triggered spawns
Step #4: Meditate. Do this invis'd.
Step #7: Collect the Ogre artifact. Do this invis'd.

Artifacts of Great Importance

I got this mission with 2x lvl 100s.

when you "choose" your mob ... as soon as you get very close to the cage, it crumbles and 12 of the mobs in that cage spawn around the area including close to the cage. All even con to 100.

the "inner demons" are all in the same cave down south. yellow cons to 100. Easy single pulls, relatively small aggro radius. In my instance, there were 2 gnomes, 1 half elf, 1 wood elf, an iksar and a high elf. The one's that matched my toon's races (iksar and high elf) said "Silfh's inner demon" underneath the name, respectively.

the shroom people were in the east and north caves and all dark blue. remember to target yourself and right-click the no drop living fungus to change your vision. Once you have clicked all 6, your vision is yellow and a find path goes to the ogre relic. Once you walk over the relic, 4 xulous ambushers spawn. Dark blue to 100, easy single pulls. Nothing special.

Win.

BTW, jumped over the wall near the named, far out of agro range but did have him targeted. I've probably jumped my toons over that wall 30ish times now, it's maybe a 30-40 foot drop. This time it did 200K of fall damage? This may be well-known, but wasn't to me. I'm sure I'd be within spell damage range of him (if he casts, don't actually know, he's never hit us with anything that I noticed).

This is the best farm heroic I've seen. We were done with the instance, minus killing the named, in mid 50's minutes. The death and named kill put us back in the guild hall at 65 min on the quest timer.

Compared to the other ones that ran 3 hours this is a bargain for marks per unit time. With only one named it's not the best trinket instance but the valor trinkets are better than the drop trinkets IMO.

Also, we've only run the first two from this guy, all three from Cooper, and the first one from Bixie so there may be better ones out there but this is definitely a good one to put on farm.

By far the easiest one so far.

This was the sixth different mission we've run and about our 10th overall counting repeats. We hadn't broken 2 hours on any of them, even the ones we knew well although we could perhaps have finessed some sub 2 hour runs by working tightly next to non-mission mobs.

This was the easiest by a long shot. Despite great ignorance of how to do the first step we still ran this in 80 minutes making it more than twice as fast as our usual three hour first efforts.

Never spawned a boss at the end, checked everywhere.

Objective Instructions...

  • Speak to Brudo Gomph about historical ogre artifacts ...... 0/1
  • Improve your combat skills by killing critters ...... 0/12
  • Return to Brudo Gomph ...... 0/1
  • Meditate within the southern cave and defeat your nightmares ...... 0/8
  • Return to Brudo Gomph ...... 0/1
  • Defeat stone protectors surrounding the artifact within the large cave ...... 0/8
  • Collect the ogre artifact ...... 0/1
  • Defeat the xulous ambushers ...... 0/4
  • Return to Brudo Gomph ...... 0/1

What to do for each step:
  • Hail Brudo Gomph in the western cave
  • Talk to Skurk outside of the cave near the animal cages. After a couple of minutes, the cages opened up an spiders came out. Kill 12 spiders.
  • Hail Brudo Gomph again
  • The southern area of the zone will now open up. There is a cave to the southeast (Orcal Udwoona stands outside its entrance) with a small pool in the back. Sitting in this small pool will make the screen go dark and after 10-30 seconds in the pool, two mobs will spawn outside of the pool. Exit the pool and kill these 2 enemies. You will have to do this a total of 4 times, and I am not sure if the enemies will continue to spawn if you try to kill them inside of the pool. It was possible to split them up, so they do not share agro, but they were not undead despite the fact that they had banshee / mummy models.
  • Hail Brudo Gomph again
  • The northeastern cave will now open up. At the very very back of this cave are 8 stone protectors in groups of 2, then 3, then 3 more. On the way there, there was a xulous scout hiding in the corner of one of the caves (foreshadowing). Kill the stone protectors.
  • Click the ceramic bowl that the last 3 protectors were standing around.
  • 4 xulous ambushers will spawn around you, Kill them!
  • Hail Brudo Gomph again

All enemies in the instance were snareable / rootable / slowable and did not share agro, but they were social and spawned in rather close groups. Their assist radius was pretty small, however, so they had to be pretty close to assist, making them easy enough to split up.
