Call of the Forsaken Info & Guides: Overview | Progression & Task List | Raiding | Visible Armor
This is a solo task that begins with Commander Zavrus (map image). She is a drakkin found in the Queen's Wet River bixie camp (from the Ethernere portal stone, head east up the ramp and just follow the ramp until you come to the queen's camp).
Pre-Requisites for requesting:
- Level 85
- Completed Ethernere Tainted West Karana tasks:
--- "Overcoming the Cataclysm"
--- "Not of This World"
--- "Answering the Call"
You say, 'Hail, Commander Zavrus'
Commander Zavrus says 'Greetings. I don't suppose you are for hire, are you? I'm conducting an [investigation] of the recent militarization of the Stone Hive bixies. The Wet River bixies are trying to find the source of the music and sounds causing it, and I have a few people already helping, but it is not enough. Frislo here has done what he can, but while I am sympathetic with his plight, there are more lives at stake than just his brother Jacyll's.'
You say, 'I'll help with this investigation'
Without pre-requisites, you see:
Commander Zavrus says 'I don't think you can help me at this time.'
With pre-requisites, you see:
Commander Zavrus says 'I'm grateful for the help. With everyone else preparing for war, I've been low on resources to do anything for actually preventing war. I've been working with the Wet River bixies to learn more about this sound that drives the Stone Hive. It is likely some sort of magical source, but beyond that I don't know anything.'
You have been assigned the task 'The Bixies of War'.
A strange sound is echoing through the caverns, and only the Wet River bixies' wax prevents others from succumbing to the strange effects. The Stone Hive is now on the move.
Assist Commander Zavrus from Crescent Reach with the investigation into militarization of the Stone Hive bixies.

Speak to Scout Reneza 0/1 (Bixie Warfront)
Task Window Says: Find Scout Reneza of the Wet River bixies. Zavrus believes that she may be able to help.
Scout Reneza (map image) is found in the same camp.
You say, 'Hail, Scout Reneza'
Scout Reneza says 'Commander Zavrus has asked you to look into this? Very well. I will assist you, only because our interests coincide. The Stone Hive is no longer our ally. This music of war, rage, and fury does not affect us since we have protected ourselves with the [wax]. The wax will keep you sane as well. We'll need to find information from the Stone Hive members themselves to get any further in finding the source, however.'
You say, 'Wax?'
Scout Reneza says 'That vile sound. If we do not stop it soon, who knows what might happen next? If you'd like to help, contact the drakkin called Zavrus. She is a member of the Crescent Reach military.'
Return to Commander Zavrus 0/1 (Bixie Warfront)
Task Window Says: Inform Commander Zavrus of what you've learned.
You say, 'Hail, Commander Zavrus'
Commander Zavrus says 'Reneza was helpful, I see. She did seem the reasonable sort. I think we should start by taking out some Stone Hive bixies and seeing if we can find any useful leads. I'll see what I can find out on my end.'
Locate clues by taking out Stone Hive bixies 0/1 (Bixie Warfront)
Task Window Says: Find clues from Stone Hive bixies. Troopers, diggers, lancers, and soldiers may have information.
Kill bixies in the static (non-instanced) Bixie Warfront until you get an update. These include:
a bustling digger
a frantic harvester
a resolute trooper
a vigilant soldier
an edgy lancer
These spawn in the large clearing in the tunnel behind Naturalist Yrelia (map image of Yrelia).
a resolute trooper has been slain by _____!
a resolute trooper had some interesting information that completes part of the puzzle. Your victim has left behind a few clues: you found information that Warden Lorenz was the person who handled the prisoner Jacyll and some near-mad scribblings about a war march. It looks like you'll need to do more investigating, but first, you should let Zavrus know what you found out.
Discuss the findings with Commander Zavrus 0/1 (Bixie Warfront)
Task Window Says: Report your findings to Commander Zavrus.
You say, 'Hail, Commander Zavrus'
Commander Zavrus says 'This is a good start. I haven't been able to get much done here, but I'll keep looking. In the meantime, I'll need you to follow up on this.'
Interrogate bixies 0/1 (Bixie Warfront)
This is reported to update from "a spider hunter" that was standing next to Charlbroiled Chanon.
Find information by killing bixies 0/1 (Bixie Warfront)
Collect Stone Hive Orders and give them to Commander Zavrus 0/5 (Bixie Warfront)
Defeat Warden Lorenz to learn about Jacyll's fate 0/1 (Bixie Warfront)
Task Window Says: Interrogate non-hostile bixies, defeat hostile bixies, collect Stone Hive orders, and find Warden Lorenz. Hostile bixies that may have information could include guards, protectors, investigators, or honey benders. Non-hostile bixies that may be willing to talk could include vendors, tenants, friendly hunters, or frightened bixies.
The above four steps can only be completed inside instances involving heroic adventures. Speak with Naturalist Yrelia, Snazlieu the Shadow, or Ambassador Crizlyna to initiate these tasks (they are shared tasks for 1-6 players -- a list of them can be found in this progression writeup). Note: All four steps are known to be updateable inside the "Espionage Begins At Home" instance.
For the "interrogate" step, just hail non-KOS bixies until you get an update:
You say, 'Hail, a quiet tenant'
a quiet tenant says 'The song fills us all with strength and zeal. The warriors in particular have found great energy. There is a non-bixie playing it. Looks like one of the people of Crescent Reach.'
For the "find information" step, kill KOS guards, protectors, investigators, and honey benders until you get an update (these mob types are most common in heroic adventures involving the residences - see Snazlieu the Sneak to trigger these tasks):
a supply guardian has been slain by _____!
a supply guardian had notes about the "power of the drum" on one of the corpses. There are references to the "power it brings."
For the "collect" step, "Stone Hive Orders" are found as ground spawns inside bixie residences (trigger heroic adventures beginning with Snazlieu the Shadow to access their houses; this may also be possible in Ambassador Crizlyna's tasks, but this is not confirmed).
Warden Lorenz can only be reached inside Heroic Adventures involving the residential district (those triggered by speaking with Snazlieu the Shadow). It's possible to invis to his location, kill him, and leave the zone without doing anything else. Note that he casts a 50' range AE for 40,000 damage (average amount of hitpoints, average DPS).
For a map to the Warden's location, click here (he's west of the residences).
Warden Lorenz has been slain by _____!
Warden Lorenz's corpse buzzes pitifully and hits the ground.
Warden Lorenz had a list of prisoners in a small journal. It appears Jacyll is a prisoner of some importance, but the exact reasons are not revealed. He is the Queen Bixie's personal prisoner.
Upon handing in the Stone Hive Orders, you see:
Commander Zavrus says 'Now these are fascinating. Thank you.'
Discuss the revelations with Scout Reneza 0/1 (Bixie Warfront)
Task Window Says: Report the results of your foray to Scout Reneza.
You say, 'Hail, Scout Reneza'
Scout Reneza says 'So the sound of the drum, that horrible music. That which we are protecting against, is made from a Stone Hive prisoner named Jacyll? I appreciate you sharing this information with us. You should tell the soldier from Crescent Reach your findings.'
Give your final report to Commander Zavrus 0/1 (Bixie Warfront)
Task Window Says: Give your final report to Commander Zavrus.
You say, 'Hail, Commander Zavrus'
Commander Zavrus nods. 'It looks like Jacyll and this drum might be what's causing the bixie's behavior. This is incredibly serious. However, if we can stop him from playing this artifact and rescue him, we might be able to avoid a war. You've been an incredible help. Thank you.'
You've learned much. The Stone Hive bixies are being controlled by a magical drum played by Jacyll, a prisoner of the Stone Hive bixies. It will be necessary to free him to recover the drum and halt the march of war.
Rewards:
Experience (3-4 AAs at Level 100)
262 platinum, 5 gold
(This task is repeatable with a 6-hour lockout - lockout from the time the task was requested.)
Precursor & Lore
While not a part of this task or any progression, the Drakkin named Jeslellathina of Crescent Reach (found beneath the ladder that leads up to the new zone) has a few things to say about the Bixie Warfront:
You say, 'Hail, Jeslellathina'
[Jeslellathina] plays with a bit of flame wrapping around her knuckles as she says, 'Have you ever seen a [building burn], _____?'
You say, 'Jeslellathina...'
Jeslellathina laughs, holds her flaming hand up to her mouth and blows a kiss of flame at you. She says playfully, 'Don't mock the name, honey. It's specifically chosen for its purpose, just like you've been.'
You say, 'A building burn?'
Jeslellathina looks up at you, confused by your answer. She asks again, 'Well, have you?'
You say, 'No...'
Jeslellathina snaps her hand shut with surprising force and snuffs the flame out. 'What a pity. You're really missing out. [Honeycomb] burns quite well, too, though.'
You say, 'Honeycomb?'
Jeslellathina says 'Oh, have you not heard already? I'd assumed everyone in Crescent Reach had by now; the gossip here is quite out of control. Well, we're here on a [rescue] mission.'
You say, 'Rescue?'
Jeslellathina says 'Jacyll, one of the finest bards I've ever heard, and a personal friend of mine, was kidnapped by the Stone Hive bixies. Thus, the [ladder]!'
You say, 'What's this ladder?'
Jeslellathina looks a little irritated that you require more explanation. She begins flicking flames off of her fingers as she recites, 'Attention, all brave adventures that set foot inside Crescent Reach's borders! The esteemed and well-respected bard, Jacyll, has been kidnapped by the Stone Hive Bixies and taken to their [underground camp].'
You say, 'What underground camp?'
Jeslellathina says 'Yes, yes. I was getting to that.' Jeslellathina takes a deep breath and continues drearily, 'Their newly excavated underground tunnel network can be accessed via a subterranean pathway and one super long ladder. The authorities of Crescent Reach can guarantee safe passage into the underground fortress, but assumes no [liability] for...'
You say, 'Liability?'
Jeslellathina's head snaps up like she fell asleep, smiles, and says, 'Oh yes, it'd be a shame to miss that part. As I was saying, Crescent Reach assumes no liability for any serious injuries, BEST FRIENDS, decapitations, life-threatening predicaments, BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS, diseases, bug bites, or HEAPING PILES OF TREASURE that may be acquired within [the cavern].'
You say, 'The cavern?'
Jeslellathina shoots spark into the sky and says, 'We've taken to calling it the Bixie Warfront, but there's really no official term for the place. It's just an extension of the existing Stone Hive the bixies constructed long ago on the eastern edge of Blightfire Moors. This one's much [more dangerous], though.'
You say, 'More dangerous?'
Jeslellathina holds a finger up to her lips and puts her ear to the ground, motioning for you to do the same. She asks, 'Do you hear that subtle thumping? It's been going non-stop ever since we discovered the cavern. The entire complex is a massive military wonderland: factories, battlefields, fortresses, training camps--they've got [everything] down there.'
You say, 'Everything?'
Jeslellathina says 'Everything. Including our friend, Jacyll. If you think you're up for the challenge, head down the ladder and speak to his brother, Frislo. He'll make sure you're [put to work] finding the stolen drakkin.'
You say, 'Put to work?'
Jeslellathina says 'Oh, yes. It's definitely work. Oh, wait. Are you accepting?' Jeslellathina doesn't wait for your response, immediately reciting, 'The people of Crescent Reach, and especially the family and friends of Jacyll thank you for your contribution. You may return to Crescent Reach for refreshments and possible dancing after Jacyll is rescued.' |
