Requires medium/high Amiably faction with Ashen Order, a human Quellious monk is able to start this quest provided they handed in their newbie tunic note.

This is a followup quest to "Grim's Tiger Revenge" but can be started at anytime provided you have the required faction

At the end of "Grim's Tigers Revenge" you receive the following text from Grim Oakfist:

Grim Oakfist says 'Good work. I hope you had no run ins with the local rangers. Here is my reward. An object from the past which I found in my journeys. Wish that I could reward also with [treant fists].'

    You say, 'What treant fists'

Grim Oakfist says 'The treant fists were created by great craftsmen. They are for the fists of a monk and offer greater dexterity and increase the durability of one's soul. My last pair were given to Master Puab of the Ashen House training grounds.'

Puab Closk can be found in the West Freeport Monk guild.

    You say, 'Hail, Puab Closk'

Puab Closk says, 'Greetings, I am Puab Closk, Master of the Ashen Order. Our home is your home, friend. Feel free to stay as long as you like. Learn our ways as many have done in the past. To fight like the tiger and strike like the cobra are your goals.'

    You say, 'what treant fists'

Puab Closk says, 'You desire the treant fists? I have them and I will offer them to any [skilled monk of the Ashen House].'

You say, 'skilled monk of the Ashen House'

Puab Closk says, 'Then you shall aid our family. My former pupil, [Clawfist], has been banished by his people. You will go to him and hand him this token as proof of your origin. He will be expecting you.'

    Recieve: Puab's Token

    You say, 'Clawfist'

Puab Closk says, 'Clawfist has been banished by the Kerrans of Odus. Where they have sent him, I am unsure.'

Travel to the far west section of Toxxulia Forest (formerly the zone Kerra Isle). Find "a banished kerran" at location -3, 2340, 2. This is in the northern section of kerra isle in the temple looking building down a small ramp.

You say, 'Hail, a banished kerran'

a banished kerran says, 'Rrrrrr... Away frrrom this isle of death and... prrrr... punishment.'

    You say, 'puab sent me'

a banished kerran says, 'Prrr... Master Puab? Show me prrroof.'

Give the banished kerran "Puab's Token"

a banished kerran says, 'Ashen Order! Prrr... My order. I have been expecting one of us. Prrr... Help me rejoin my native land. Take this box. Combine all the [remains of Thipt] within the box and return it to me. This shall aid me in my redemption.'

    You Receive: Box with Pawprints
    You say, 'remains of Thipt'

a banished kerran says, 'Clawknight Thipt wished to learn the ways of Ashen. Prrr... Together we go into green goblins' lair to train. Prrr... We find too many and he is too weak. Separated and unable to find him, I hear his death cry. Prr... I cannot make it back, eyes upon me. Now I must find one sent by Ashen to aid in the recoverrry of his remains.'

The green goblin lair he refers to is Runnyeye, head to that area to find the four remains of Thipt

The first of the remains is a "Ribcage Chest Armor", which may be found on "a goblin alchemist" that shares a PH with Mooto and other regular goblins that wander between the camps near Runnyeye. He is reported to be a semi-rare spawn.

The second piece is a "Humerus Handled Mace", found on "a goblin alchemist" in the Gorge of King Xorbb. The spawn point is directly outside the entrance to Runnyeye, and the placeholders seem to be the two goblins stationed by the Runnyeye entrance. Also reported to be a semi-rare spawn. The patrolling Gorge Minotaurs can make this a tricky camp as they will kill goblins they come across, including the alchemist.

The third piece is "Cat Skull Cap" which is a common drop found inside Runnyeye off of "a Pickclaw mindripper", a common spawn found on the 2nd level. An easy way to get to the 2nd level is to take the first right from Gorge of King Xorbb and follow the tunnel down.

The fourth piece is "Fractured Femur" which is a common drop found inside Runnyeye off of "a Pickclaw bonemender", a common spawn also found on the 2nd level.

Combine the Ribcage Chest Armor, Humerus Handled Mace, Cat Skull Cap, and Fractured Femur inside the Box with Pawprints to create "Box of Cat Bones". Return to Kerra Isle.

Give Box of Cat Bones to a banished kerran (aka Clawfist)

a banished kerran says, 'Prrr... Thank you brother of Ashen. I can now spend my time upon this island in peace, until my penance is serrrved.' He dabs his paw into the mud and places it upon a tattered parchment. 'Take this message to Puab. Farrrewell.''

    You Receive: Pawprint

Return to Puab Closk in the West Freeport Monk guild

    Give Pawprint to Puab Closk

Puab Closk says, 'You have performed a great service to one who is your brother. Your loyalty shines brightly, as does your skill. Take the treant fists. They are yours now.'

Your faction standing with Ashen Order has been adjusted by 20.
Your faction standing with Knights of Truth has been adjusted by 3.
Your faction standing with Silent Fist Clan has been adjusted by 1.

    You Receive: Treant Fists

Add box of quest bones to the items listed for this quest. Maybe items used in quests could also have a url link where it is mentioned in their specific walk through.

Updated to show that the Box of Cat Bones is related to this quest, thanks for letting us know!

Edit: Found some more missing quest items and included them as well. If you happen to have logs of quest dialogues and any faction hits you may have gotten during your time doing this quest I'd be happy to update them as well.

Edit2: I got bored and did a good chunk of the quest, if anyone happens to have final turnin dialogues for completions sake I'd love to add them in as well as these Goblin Alchemists are eluding me.

I only need the gorge alchemist to finish this quest I started on monk from the combine server, however it is on a 72 minute respawn is quite rare and the Minotaurs will kill it when they path through that area. A 24 hour presence at this camp is about what it would take.
Oh, Grim Oakfist's quest is the lead-in Grim's Tiger Revenge
Here's his dialog about the treant fists that you get after completing his quest.

Grim Oakfist says 'Good work. I hope you had no run ins with the local rangers. Here is my reward. An object from the past which I found in my journeys. Wish that I could reward also with [treant fists].'

Been years since I've done this quest. Can anyone confirm all the mobs still spawn and all the items still drop? Having lots of trouble with Alchemist in BOTH Runny Eye and Xrobb's Gorge... can't find em. Got the two Runnyeye bits though.

Has this been updated so Iksar can use it yet? I saw review of this quest on EQ Stratics and it said that Iksar can't use because of plate restrictions, but that makes no sense since Monks are a leather class. If it was plate, then human monks couldn't use it either and it obviously has a leather graphic.

The latest patch to the patch has fixed the pathing in the Gorge. I spent about 16 hours camping the intersection, killing every Goblin in sight. He popped right on the 72 minute cue - there are 2 wandering 6-minutes spawns, and the Alchemist placeholder is an odd third spawn in the same point. Just keep accurate time of the 2 regular wanderes at the intersection, and the one out of pattern is your 72-minute placeholder.
Good Luck! This one has been 6 months+ as impossible...

i have started this quest just the other day. i was able to get the first goblin alchemist to spawn after killing Mooto about 5 times. i am now in runnyeye and come to find out that the cat skull cap does not drop off the geletanic cube like i has before. it drops off a pickclaw mindripper on the second floor. So now what? does the fractured femur still drop off the goblin caption? if anyone that has done this quest with in the last few months know please post something up so everyone will now.
    Thank you

Just an FYI - I was on a Runnyeye raid two days ago, and saw the Fractured Femur drop from the Pickclaw Bonemenders on the second floor. Both times I saw one go down, they had the Femur. You can tell when they've got it if they're wielding a small eye-poker looking rod.

Now that they raised Runnyeye, your best bet is to level from Misty Thicket/Beholder/Runnyeye and stop in on the respective zones to check on pops. Let people know your intentions and you will most likely get a tell when one of the mobs pop. The gloves are decent, however the quest seems rather long for the item. For the level you can obtain these at, though, its worth it... depending on what stat you wish to raise(AC/Dex/Agi). When some people say 'better' they sometimes are referring to their personal opinion as there are many that believe some stats are just better than others. =) These gloves are nice if you are looking for AC without too much weight. I noticed minimal improvements on skills when increasing stats in the lower levels anyway.

Anyway, point is... do the quest if you want.

And when I was referring to the level you can obtain this item. It can be done much lower than 25 as the area where the quest mobs pop are usually camped by your everyday player who is just looking for some experience. Can't take on that red mob? Entertain your fellow players by juggling or telling a joke, im sure they'd be happy to let you stay and loot the little runts. Happy camping!

Gorge Alchemist placeholder spawns every 70 minutes, you can set your watch to it. Other gobbys spawn every 6. figure out which spawn is out of time, and you can go hunt elsewhere for 70 minutes while you wait.

If my eyes do not deceive me they look more like a very dark purple plate. For a class that can hit as hard with their fists than most can with swords... they sure do have tiny hands.

    Why not cresent?
    # Dec 10 2001 at 11:18 PM Rating: Decent
I just completed the quest today and although the 8 AC is great, it took me about 28 hours to get them and then I realized the stats on my Cresent Gloves are a bit better because of the agility, stamina, and extra dextarity. My monk was level 27 when I completed the quest and although the fists look awesome and they are a very nice pair of gloves, it only takes a couple of hours and 2 invis potions to get into and out of Dalnir. If you do this at a high traffic time, there will undoubtidly be people hunting there and since the gloves are no-drop, they will send out oocs and shouts about the drops. At level 27, feigning should be no problem and paticence for a couple hours verses patience for 20 hours for one pop, I'd much rather have gotten the Cresent and not bothered getting the Treants.... However, since I have them and they look cool, I wear them when weight isn't important. ^_^

I am doing the quest now. I have everything but the mace. The guy in misty took about 3 evenings to get, the 2 pieces in runnyeye were easy really (I was level 33). Now I just have to get the mace from the gorge. I spent about 3-4 hours last night in the gorge, I hope I will be lucky, but I expect to have to spend several more evenings waiting.

I am also stuck on getting the mace. I was able to get the ribcage (from the alchemist in Misty Thicket) with only about 4-5 hours of camping the spot, and got the two pieces in Runnyeye fairly easily. But my patience is growing thin very quickly waiting for the alchemist to spawn in The Gorge, as I have camped the spot for close to 35 hours or more over the past week. I am almost to the point of saying '***** it!!' and doing the gem inlaid gauntlets quest instead, but I figured I've invested this amount of time into the quest, I might as well see it through. Now I see why I've heard that you gain more respect from others if you do this quest. Just from the fact that it's such a pain in the @$$ to do, because of all the camping that has to be done.

Has anyone attempted this quest since Runnyeye was made stronger? The Paw quest mobs were all moved to SK after it was bumped up, does the same hold true with the spawns in Runnyeye or do you have to face the new and improved RE to complete the treant fist quest? Yeah I know I'm a bard, but my lil monk is quickly approaching the levels where he could feasibly do this quest.

It took me about 45 hours to get all the pieces for this quest but I am quite proud that I stuck it out. Most people I have met are all about power gaming but I just enjoy the fact that I have something I can never get dumb and sell (no drop) so I will always have them around no matter what and it adds to the roleplaying aspect of my character. Just my 2 cents and I know I'm not a tank but I have a good personality and make grouping fun =)

I just completed this quest at lvl 17. All four Goblins I needed to kill were blue, the only problem is the spawn time of the Alchemists in Misty Thicket and the Gorge. The two in Runneye are no problem at all. The exp gained is good as well. I was one yellow away from 18, and after turning the box in to Clawfist and the Pawprint to Paub, I was one yellow into 18. The fists themsleves are very good and they look awesome (like crimson plate), but it was disappointing that they don't add any strength. Good luck my fellow monks!

I have been researching this quest and plan on undertaking it in the near future. The Treant Fists look like a very nice item to have. But I must say that looking down on me for having gem inlaid gauntlets right now is wrong. They [gem inlaid gauntlets] were offered to me and I took them because it was better than what i had at the time. Am I supposed to place a telephone pole sized stick up my butt and refuse them? That would be ludicrous. Is my wearing gem inlaid gauntlets causing anyone any physical pain? I seriously doubt it. Everyone has their own style of play. Don't look down on someone just because they have different gloves than you. That kind of attitude is highly immature.

This is just my rant. Flame me if you like.

The best way I have found to get the Misty thicket goblin is star hunting there at 5 and grp at his spawn point (Its the Gob camp to the left after passing the wall). Friday afternoon he spawned. Here is the new problem: There are 2 factions in the gorge sine the Runnyeye revmap. The factions are the goblins and everything else. Each is KoS to the other.(not real sure on the muddites, but the minos definately kill all goblins they come across)

He spawned on the rock behind the 2 lookouts near Runnyeye.

I didn't hang around to see how long it would be before he respawned.
