You may find Shakey Scarecrow at the Tagglefoot Farm.

You say, 'Hail, Shakey Scarecrow'

Shakey Scarecrow rustles and looks up at you in acknowledgment.

Reebo Leafsway shakes his head sadly. 'Poor old [Shakey] just isn't what he used to be.'

You say, 'Who is Shakey?'

Reebo Leafsway says 'Shakey is our protector and friend. He is just getting old. Losing his [stuffing]. His [head] is getting very cracked and dry as well.'

You say, 'Stuffing?'

Reebo Leafsway says 'The hay he requires is difficult to obtain. It must have been harvested from the Plains of Karana, then cursed by a high priest of the Faceless, [Cazic-Thule]. Finally, you must cast the hay and a flask of blessed Oil of Life into an armorer's forge. Only then will the hay be ready. We Stormreapers will reward you greatly if you could accomplish this task. Remember, you must give the scarecrow stuffing to Shakey only after it has been properly prepared.'

You say, 'Cazic-Thule?'

Reebo Leafsway says 'Cazic-Thule is the dark deity of fear. He is worshiped by many evil beings. There is believed to be a ruined temple dedicated to him deep in the [Feerrott]. That would be a good place to look for one of his high priests.'

You say, 'Feerrott?'

Reebo Leafsway says 'The Feerrott is a vast rain forest in southwestern Antonica. It is home to many lizardman tribes.'

Go to the Western Plains of Karana and find a bump on the fields or follow Cleet Miller around until he drops a bale of hay. Blessed Oil has its own quest. Roror can be found west of the river in the Feerrott, and he wanders erratically.

You say, 'Hail, Roror'

Roror says 'Greeetingsssssssssss. What brings sssssuch asssss you to the heart of the Feerrott? Do you [know fear]?'

You say, 'Yes, I do know fear.'

Roror says 'Yesssss. I can tassssste the fear in your pitiful heart. I am Roror, High Priessst of Cazic-Thule! I sssseek to sssssspread terror acrossssss all of Norrath! I ssssshall let you live thisss day so you can sssshare the fear that liessss within you.'

You say, 'Bless my hay.'

Roror says 'You sssseek the blesssssssing of the Lord of Fear?! Give me what you have and 66 gold pieces as an offering to Cazic-Thule.'

Roror says 'Yesss. But remember, Cazic-Thule demandsssss both the item and 66 gold piecessss assssss an offering.'
Roror says 'Whatsssss thisssss? You sssseek my blessssssssing? Heh heh heh... Very well... CAZIC-THULE! Take this fruit of Karana into horror'sss dark embrace. Fear and death made manifesssssst. A harvesssst of terror! Here, take your gift of blood and sssstraw. Use its dark powersssss in the name of the Fear Lord!'

You receive a Sack of Cursed Hay (identifies as "Straw of Cazic-Thule"). Combine with Blessed Oil in any forge, trivial at 15 (no-fail?). The result is a Sack of Writhing Hay (identifies as "Scarecrow Stuffing") Upon giving this to Shakey:

Your faction standing with Storm Reapers has been adjusted by 25.
Your faction standing with Mayor Gubbin has been adjusted by 2.
Your faction standing with Merchants of Rivervale has been adjusted by 3.
Your faction standing with Unkempt Druids has been adjusted by -3.
You gain experience!
You receive 1 gold from Shakey Scarecrow.

If you say 'I don't know fear' to Roror, he tells you that you soon will and attacks you.

You also receive experience and some money.

when you say "hay" to roror, you get the response - "Roror says 'You sssseek the blesssssssing of the Lord of Fear?! Give me what you have and 66 gold pieces as an offering to Cazic-Thule.'"

the walkthrough above asks how you know to say this, but since the line is just anything with "hay", and reebo is asking you to get hay and to take it to the high priest of cazic thule in feerrott, and also mentions the lizardmen tribes, I don't think there's actually any missing dialogue.

also if you say "i dont know fear" to roror he tells you that you soon will, and attacks you.

So... Since, the requirement is 66 Gold, but coins now auto condense, this quest is technically broken.
The only workaround I can think of is to loot/sell enough low-value junk to get your gold to 6 and hand him 6p6g.

The other helpful tip, I wish I'd had going in...
He wanders randomly in a box between the west wall, the river, the lizard camps, and the south wall.
It's a smaller area than the map makes it look, so not hard to find, once you know where to find him.

Go to your nearest bank and you can sort through your coins there to get the exact coin amounts.

Tried this today for old time's sake. Hailed Shakey and repeated "Skakey" and "Who is Shakey?" when Reebo replies but nothing happens. Are they finally fixing this Shakey's Head quest or have they totally abandoned it?

Did this quest 5 times. I got 4 Wee Harvesters's and 1 Belt of the River. Maybe just my luck, but the belt seems to be a rare reward.
Easy quest
# Oct 13 2004 at 7:37 PM Rating: Decent
With the tutorial and PoK it's now quite easy to do this quest at level 1. Out of boredom I rolled up a new half-elf druid, and I was level 3 with a /played time of 1hr 17min when I turned in the Sack of Writhing Hay to Shakey in Rivervale and got rewarded with Wee Harvester. Kill rats and skeletons to raise the 66gp you need, bind in PoK, suicide on the Miller Farm and in the Feerrott as needed. Piece of cake. Note that the Belt of the River is no use to non-Halflings.

Only difficult bit is finding Roror, but he is there. Only things likely to kill you are: scarecrows on the Miller Farm, but they are slow and you can spot them from miles away; bears and skeletons in the Feerrott, which can be hard to spot in the gloom.

Kind of sad that PoK has devalued the difficulty of the quest (Reebo Leafsway wouldn't even tell me about the quest as I was too low level), but also nice that the quest is still worthwhile and do-able for newbies and non-twinks.

Roror removed?
# Jan 17 2004 at 4:27 PM Rating: Decent
I think Roror might have been removed from the game. I've been sitting here for about 4 hours now, and there's been no sign of him. Have rangers all over the zone tracking for me to find him...nothing. Anyone been able to do the quest lately?

I, too, have had the same problem. I have been trying on and off since November to find Roror with no success. I wish there was someplace to go to find out definitive answers about things removed from the game. It would go a long way to save time and frustration.

Did this quest sometime in the middle of 2003, and a guide had to come and repop Roror as there were three of him (and three pets) continually running around and not responding to hails. He does exist, and normally is found in the south-west of the zone, a bit to the west of the river - check out point 8 on this map:

http://www.eqatlas.com/feerottmap.html

As with so many other quests and NPCs, chances are high that he's bugged and doesn't spawn properly, or is under the world, or something equally stupid. /bug and /feedback in game.

Good memories of this quest, the ranger I was with saying 'I do not know fear' to Roror. The run back from Qeynos took him quite a while.

Just ran through Feerrott again earlier today, and Roro has always been on track. Out of boredom I investigated a little further this time and ended up here telling you all this. He is existant and I personally have seen him many a time.
Is this quest broken?
# Nov 15 2003 at 11:06 AM Rating: Decent
I'm a 17 halfling druid, and I've been looking for this Roror guy for 3 days as of 11/15/03. I've enlisted the help of 5 different rangers to track him for me, and none could find him. I don't know if there's a range for track or not, so I had them search the south-west part of the map. I've even camped at his so called despawn spot...still nothing. Does he only come out during the day or night, or certain days of the week? Please help, I've wasted so much time on this stupid quest and I don't wanna give up. I'm on the Stromm server, if that makes a difference. Thanks.

I ran through the quest twice today, i was rewarded with the belt and then the shovel. The belt ~ Belt of the Rivers has 17 charges on it and the shovel ~ the Wee Harvester has 20. Not a tough quest, just a little leg work, much less work useing POK. However there are items sold in OT that have similar effects, summon drink/food, the vendor near the watering hole nat far from the WW zone. FYI

I did this quest twice this morning. I wanted the belt, but got the wee harvester the first time. Soooo I started over again. I put the harvester in the bank, figuring it's lore so if I kept it I couldn't get another one, so I should get the belt second tiome around. Yup, that's what happened alright. Belt is nice, not to excited bout the neg 10 cold resist, but the strength and improved AC are more than welcome on my little Halfling.

Oh, by the way, my smithing skill was at 30 when I did this quest. I received the "no longer advance" message when combining the water and hay in the forge. I did not fail on either of my 2 attempts at the forge. "Gee Shakey, you sure use a lot of stuffing", hehe.

Curse my hay
# Apr 05 2002 at 9:12 AM Rating: Decent
I found that it doesn't matter whether you say anything to Roror or not. Just run up, hail him, give him the goods, and he'll hand back the cursed hay. So, if you're running around a bunch of red-cons, praying that your camo holds on for just a few seconds longer, this may save a little precious time.
Level doesnt matter!

I did this quest by myself at level 6 with no help except to stop and beg for SOW along the way.
So have fun with it and be aware of where your running to.
OOH by the way I got the Wee Harvester and used it up to level 22!

My friend Wilcox on the Karana server found his despawn spot at neg 1400, pos 900. This is on the west bank of the river at the southern boundary of the zone. He runs past every 3 to 5 minutes. If you hail him before he gets into the river you can get him to curse the hay.

Ok..so if this guy is a shammy..how the bajezzus can he summon. Yep..slowed, dotted me, and summoned twice. My MR is 86 atm and AC is 997 and he hit me like I was a third grader. One mean bugger. We stopped by..never having seen him before and my tank buddy hails him and ...ooops...says "NO". We get pounded and start to run....at which time...apparently I am the cutest one of the bunch....he slows, dots and proceeds to whack me up good. Stunned my constantly at 20 percent and below health..never had a chance to get Lay Hands off. SOOKED.

THanks to Maldaver for us non-trackers. His loc of Neg 1100, Pos 1800 was absolutely perfect. I went straight to that spot and waited about 5 minutes. BINGO, Roror standing there. No running all over and no Bouncers.

Just a warning, though: I did the quest over a dozen times total (bind at the Miller's farm and a lvl 24+ druid can do the whole thing in 25 mins or so) and I can assure you that Roror moves quickly and often. You were lucky he was in that exact spot when you found him. I often chase him around for a few mins before he stops, not always in the same place. I have never been bothered by a Bouncer, I keep camo on til the last moment.

I just completed the quest today in about 2 hours or under; didn't time it. My smithing is in the 70's and I successfully combined the hay and oil the first time out. I guess I got lucky, because when I haded the hat to Shakey I got the Wee Harvester first try. As to the charges, it does show that it has 50 charges of summon food on it. Maybe it varies by server, who knows for sure. Now it shows 49 cause I accidentally right clicked on it. I'm gonna sell it as it is 2hb and I don't use 2hb weapons. I like my Velium Scimitar better. :-)

I did this quest for a guildie since I am a druid and can do it fairly quickly. Did it 5 times (got the hay cursed 3 times and blessed 2 times) and got the wee harvester each time. I am a woodelf and I wonder if that has anything to do with the reward.

As my halfling guildie says 'Its all about Rivervale faction' Ive almost won the game if that is the case.
my guide to doing this quest...
# Jul 21 2001 at 8:44 PM Rating: Decent
first off, make sure you are a druid level 20+ (this way, you have track and ports). first bind yourself in RV. this will save you lots of running. next, TP to NK, then head to WK. Track down cleet miller (follow the water till he pops up on track). Keep following cleet until he drops a sack of hay. then head to qeynos, the temple of life. talk to priestess jahnda and say 'brother estle neds the blessed oil' she will tell you that she doesn't distribute the oil, but some other npc does (sorry forgot his name). go to him (he's outside the temple, near the entrance i can remember that) and say i need the blessed oil or something to that effect. now, make sure you have at least 66 gold and tp to WC, then head to Sro (wc=>ec=>nro=>oasis=>sro) go south in sro until you get to innothule. here's where you invis. first refresh sow (duh), then camo or imp camo (i still had camo =D). when you enter innothule, follow the right wall until you get to the feerott, where, once more, refresh sow and camo. nothing should agro on you in innothule, but there are shadowed men out there so stick to the wall. anyways...when you get to the feerott be sure to stay camo'd, there are ogre guards out here. upon entering the feerott, go straight (east if you use sense heading) keep going straight and using track until you go underwater, stay on dry land for maybe a minute, then underwater again. keep going straight, and keep track up, looking for roror. also, be warned there are spectres out here. anyways, when you track down roror go ahead and uninvis, hail him, and whatever you do, don't say i do not know fear, because he (49 sham and pet) will proceed to kill you (i shall teach you fear!). say 'curse my hay' or 'bless my hay' and he'll ask for the 66 gold and the hay. give it to him, then gate back to RV. almost done! now, in the leafsway farm, there should be a forge. combine the blessed oil and hay (cursed/blessed). it may fail, don't be discouraged, just try again...anyways, take the finished product, give it to shakey, and you'll be the proud owner of the wee harvester or the belt of the river. your foot hairs will be the talk of the town. the belt actually has a 5% haste on it even if it doesn't say so. the 2hb is also good for us druids who like 2HB like me. congratulations on a job well done!

Bouncers, OUCH!
# Jul 09 2001 at 7:32 AM Rating: Default
Hail Fellow Travellors!
On my initial try to get the Hay cursed, Bouncer Flerb (sp?) jumped me after I located Rorer and landed over 260 points in three swings before I overcame my shock and outran him to the Rathe Mountain zone. By-the-by, expect to look around a bit for Rorer if you are lower lvl w/o track; the posted info has his loc pretty close, but the lizardman definitely runs about with his wolf at a good clip. Don't let your SoW slip off.
Also, you must wait for him to pause, I had no luck hailing him on the run, he wouldn't stop...but he did finally pause for breath at about -100, 2500...hailed him and thought great! Piece of cake, right? WHAM!! WHAM!! WHAM!! you've been hit, etc, etc,.
Second time in, after licking by wounds and pondering the usefullness of Ogre Bouncers ( failed to come up with any ), I thought treeform would help a bit and I camped the previous location where Rorer had paused. Bouncer so-and-so was around me somewhere crowing about being "victoor, victer, aah, I win," as he bashed baby crocs, and such. After a night of this, I moved back toward -600, 1500 for a second night and caught Rorer on the run. He was heading SW this time and paused around -1100, 1800. This time no Bouncer, just dialog and a sack of Cursed Hay, looks like a mailpouch, btw.
The rest was anti-climax, I had no problem combining the items in Rivervale, my smithing is a whopping 22. And another shiny new Wee shovel is in the hands of a druid. Good Luck all, hope this helps.
