You say, 'Hail, Anomalous Harbinger'
Anomalous Harbinger says, 'Can you feel it stranger? Fear. All my life I have been unable to feel it. I was raised to believe in it, to be afraid, but I couldn't. Something in me makes me immune to fear, hence my fascination with it. I came here of my own free will to study and understand fear. Perhaps, together, we can understand its [nature].'
You say, 'Nature?'
Anomalous Harbinger says 'I have come to understand that there are different types of fear. Some are common among all beings, others are not. I have reason to believe that in this place some of these [aspects] of fear might even reveal themselves in a physical form.'
You say, 'What aspects?'
Anomalous Harbinger says 'The most fascinating aspects of fear that I found in sentient beings are the fear of [death] or termination, the [terror] of harm from strangers, and the fear of the [unknown]. I suspect that the manifestations of these aspects are [roaming] these halls.'
You say, 'Death?'
Anomalous Harbinger says 'It would appear that all can be plagued by the fear of death. I find this a rather wasteful use of our energies. We should know, not fear, that one day, not too far away, we are going to die. We sometimes must fight our own [nature] in order to evolve.'
You say, 'Terror?'
Anomalous Harbinger says 'It is astonishing to me that most beings are scared of obscure entities that may never come to harm them. We must ask ourselves: where does this fear come from? Do we make up imaginary external threats? Is there really something out there whose purpose is to hurt us for no apparent reason? Where was this fear born? Perhaps something or someone has instilled this fear in us for its own ends. It could be a powerful tool that is being used to control us. But I digress, the [nature] of it is what counts, not its uses.'
You say, 'The unknown?'
Anomalous Harbinger says 'It seems to be a constant in sentient entities: the fear of the unfamiliar, the unknown. On a small scale, it makes perfect sense: it's a simple conservation mechanism. It's [nature]'s way of making sure we don't eat a poisonous berry. If we don't know the berry, we are scared of it. Unfortunately, in this ever-expanding world, it also means that we are scared of change. People will deal with unspeakable horrors as long as they are familiar with them. This could seem rather foolish if you had no fear.'
You say, 'You think they're roaming the halls?'
Anomalous Harbinger says 'Yes, I can almost sense them. The aspects of death, terror and the unknown have materialized in these very halls. Remember that these things we fear are not evil by nature. But it's the way we deal with our fear of them that makes them harmful. Please [find] them for me and gather all the knowledge that you can.'
You say, 'I will find them'
Anomalous Harbinger says, 'Look for the aspects' physical forms and seek to interact with them. The insight we might gain could prove invaluable.'
You have been assigned the task 'Taking a New Step'.
