This is the first of three raid expeditions in the Heart of Fear.

It begins with the Torchbearing Spirit in the Heart of Fear: The Threshold (first level) at location -25, -100, 75 (at the zone-in: the center of the zone).

Pre-Requisites for Requesting:
- Completed "Lost Harbingers"
- Completed "Channeling Cazic"
- Completed "Growing Fear"
- Completed "The Heart of Fear"
- Completed "Menace, Doom, and Horror" (group mission)
- Completed "Champions of the Arena" (Chelsith raid)
- Completed "Dispelling the Shadows" (Plane of Shadow raid)

You say, 'Hail, Torchbearing Spirit'

Without pre-requisites, you see:

Torchbearing Spirit stares through you and sighs heavily, 'The ants have returned to their barren hive and found no queen.' The spectre smirks, 'Don't look so surprised, I told you this would happen months ago.' He nods, 'You'll of course run through your empty gestures and return to me wanting to know more, wanting to see the end of your dreams of being a savior.' He waves his hand dismissively, 'Be off to it then, I'll be here.'

With pre-requisites, you see:

You say, 'Hail, Torchbearing Spirit'

Torchbearing Spirit looks you in the eyes, 'All the leaves the ants have carried have wilted and now they stand here confused as to why their spring has turned to fall. I must admit I did not expect my afterlife to mimic so closely the torture of the living realm, yet here we are. You've done your little dance and wish to experience your foretold disappointment firsthand. Very well, I believe Glask is waiting for you in [The Threshold].

You say, 'The Threshold?'

Torchbearing Spirit says 'Steel your resolve and stare deeply into the torch-flames then speak the words [I am ready]. That should suffice as a relocation ritual.'

You say, 'I am ready!'

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...

Optional Mini Events

There are three mini raid events in the Heart of Fear, all of which appear in this expedition. Links here point to their individual event entries:

- Darkness
--- Darkness grows overtime, blinding those around it. Light, ever so brief, may be the only way to combat the Darkness.

- Monarch Widow
--- The Monarch Widow has a nasty bite. She also spins webs around unlikely victims, creating a meal out of them for her spiderlings.

- Ulrich the Ageless
--- Ulrich is kept young by surrounding himself in rejuvenating light. He sucks the life out of his enemies, causing them to age, while keeping him youthful.

Glimpse, the Unseen

The event begins once Glimpse is aggro'd (there are no dialogues to trigger -- he is live).

Glimpse hits for a max ~40,000 and rarely single-target rampages (does not AE rampage; does not flurry). He can be pulled to anywhere on the large, flat platform on which he's located (it's not known if he can pulled to the ground below).

He has a single emote:

Glimpse, the Unseen shouts 'You shall not escape my sight, _____. Your doom awaits!'

This emote (seen by the entire raid) is an approximate 10-second warning to that player being hit with a targeted AE damage spell. The less players around the targeted player, the more damage it hits for. If the target has no other players around him or her, it is a death touch. If the target has a few players around, the spell damage is spread around those players.

To deal with this emote, it's recommended your entire raid be in very close proximity to one another, with the people getting the emote making sure to stand wherever there is a large concentration of players. Note that the range can be somewhat unforgiving -- you may need to stand right on top of one another, or stand elbow-to-elbow.

Note: The actual target of this emote sees the following flash up on their screen in red text (they see the raid-wide emote as well):

You have been targeted for death!


Glimpse from 100% to 70%

At the following health intervals, 1x "a fragment of shadow" spawns at Glimpse's spawn point: 95%, 92%, 89%, 86%, 83%, 80%, 77%, 74%. If you are fighting away from Glimpse's spawn point, these adds won't aggro you, so you'll have to pull them.

"a fragment of shadow" hits for a max ~30,000 (no rampage; no flurry), and is immune to all forms of crowd control. You will want to kill these as they spawn.

Once Glimpse, the Unseen reaches 70%, he vanishes. At this point, 3x "a lesser shadow" spawn and auto-aggro the raid.

Glimpse, the Unseen splits into three lesser shadows!


The Lesser Shadows

The lesser shadows each hit for a max ~35,000 and cast "Drawing Darkness":

Drawing Darkness: PB AE 50', Unresistable (0)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 41500 per tick
2: Slow Push (-500)

If the lesser shadows are close together in proximity, or if they are brought out of balance, they start AEing this spell:

As the shadows converge, they begin to radiate intense energy.

The shadows begin to shimmer as they drift out of phase.

A massive wave of darkened feedback erupts from the flickering shadows as they drift further out of phase.

Coverging Shadows: PB AE 300', (0)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 51500

You can either split them up and balance them down until one dies, or you can keep two of them kited while burning one of them.

Once one lesser shadow dies, the other two despawn and Glimpse reappears at his spawn point.

Drawing the three shadows together, Glimpse has reformed!


Glimpse, the Unseen: 70% to 30%

Upon reappearing, Glimpse does NOT auto-aggro. Make sure to aggro him before the event resets due to idleness.

In this phase, Glimpse spawns a large ooze under him about every 10-12 seconds. These oozes stay up during this phase, are unkillable, and have an aura around them:

Shadow Siphon: Single Target, (0)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 38500

You'll need to keep Glimpse moving a lot during this phase.

Once Glimpse, the Unseen reaches 30%, he vanishes again:

Glimpse, the Unseen shatters into several fragments of darkness!


The Six Fragments of Shadow

As Glimpse reaches 30%, he again vanishes. At this point, 6x "a fragment of shadow" spawn (each at 29% health and summon) and auto-aggro the raid. These mobs each hit for a max ~30,000 and rarely flurry (no rampage). They each cast two spells:

Drawing Darkness: PB AE 50', Unresistable (0)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 41500 per tick (1 tick)
2: Slow Push (-500)

Nightwave: PB AE 50', (0)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 61500
2: Knockback (5) and Toss Up (5)

One of these mobs is slightly taller than the others. Kill the taller mob of the six to complete the event.

If you fail to kill the correct mob, it respawns at 29% health while the others regen to 39%:

The fragment of shadow reappears. You have chosen... Poorly.

Upon the death of the proper fragment of shadow, all other adds despawn and a chest appears with loot. Several Harbingers of Thule appear as well.


The Harbingers

This has no bearing on the outcome of the event, but you can speak with a few of the NPCs that appear after Glimpse's death.

You say, 'Hail, Maelinea K`Trus'

Maelinea K`Trus looks up at you through glassy eyes, "I'm still a bit shaken up. Perhaps you should speak with Glask instead.'

You say, 'Hail, Harbinger Glask'

Harbinger Glask shakes her head, still a bit groggy from her encounter with Glimpse. Slowly her eyes focus upon you, 'Many thanks. I do not yet understand fully what happened. As we approached Glimpse, Sam fell quiet, and collapsed to the ground. We charged in to attack, when the darkness swirled around my head, and then all went black. I can only assume I was rendered [unconscious] as well.'

You say, 'Unconscious?'

Harbinger Glask nods, 'It would seem so. I do not know how you managed to survive, though I am pleased it is so, but I cannot imagine our [troubles] are over just yet.

You say, 'Troubles?'

Harbinger Glask points at Sam, 'The little one says we have much deeper to go still. Perhaps HE could be so kind as to show us the way? I only hope we fare better than we did here. I shudder to think of what lies below.'

You say, 'Hail, Sam Napth'

Sam Napth says 'I'm afraid my scaly friend here is correct. We must still venture deeper into the heart. I can show you the [way] out of here if you wish to leave!''

You can say "way" to zone out of the instance.


Loot

NOTE: In addition to chest loot, everyone in the zone receives 10x "Dreadstone" (used as an alternative way obtain raid drops, from Crusader Tolsk, the Tier 4 raid vendor in the Harbinger camp of Shard's Landing).

Chest loot consists of 3 armor pieces (first list) + 3-4 other items (second list) + 1-2 weapons (third list)+ + 4 spell runes (third list) + 1-2 Eye of Fear + 0-1 Primed Fragment of Fearlinked Zeal (cultural aug):
