Not a big deal since it's vendor bought, but I failed my first crossbow combine and it ate the planing tool which is supposed to be returned on failure or success.

There are 2 types of bows to make.. 1st one is the Longbow (NO GEARS). Later in quest you need to make Crossbow (with GEARS).

You can make it in POK... just don't make it ahead of when the quests tells you to make it.

Ended up needing more than I had. The wild naeya around the wizard port in in Shard's Landing were easy for me to kill quickly and dropped plentiful feathers. Maybe 5 naeya for 3 feathers.

Did all 10 combines in POK and got no updates. Apparently have to do it in Brell's Temple even though it says All.

I can confirm the combines work just fine in POK with full updates. Perhaps the original poster was bugged, accidentally made the wrong items or made them bolts before reaching that point in the quest.
