 This task begins with Kerst Frostrift (map) in the Plane of Knowledge, located on the small bank structure, in the center building.

- Completed "The New Tanann Merchant's Alliance"
- Completed "The Blood of Brell"
- Completed "Intoxicating Bribes"
- Completed "Treasure!"
- Completed "Making Friends, Influencing People"
- Completed Coldain Shawl 2.0 group version OR raid version

You say, 'Hail, Kerst Frostrift'

Kerst Frostrift says 'Good to see you, _____. Interested in any [jobs]?'

You say, 'What jobs?'

Kerst Frostrift says 'Let's see what I have for you. I could always use more [goods]. I have something concerning prayer shawls, a [rumor about a relic.]'

You say, 'What rumor about a relic?'

You have been assigned the task 'Private Army'.


  • Speak to Jeann Acur about the next move 0/1 (Plane of Knowledge)

    You receive 10x "Expensive Gemstones" (you can tell her you need more gemstones if you fail combines).

  • Talk to Morgyn Connors about possible new hires 0/1 (Plane of Knowledge)


  • Refine some Expensive Gemstones 0/10 (ALL)

    NOTE: All vendorbought components are found on the new vendors around the small bank.

  • Ask Carris Vanden about Freeport sellswords 0/1 (East Freeport)

    Carris Vanden (map) is located at about -110, -750, -6 in East Freeport (the dock area).

    Carris Vanden says, 'Oh, it's you again. Looking to hire some mercs, huh? I can get the word out. I just need a little downpayment.'

  • Provide a Refined Gemstone to Carris Vanden 0/1 (East Freeport)

    Upon Turn In:

    Carris Vanden says, 'Now that's what I'm talking about. I'll put the word on the street. Just deliver these gems as a downpayment and you'll have reliable muscle, no problem.'

    Make sure you talk to Morgyn BEFORE you refine the 10 gems. I stupidly made all 10 refined gems before I talked to her, and the quest didn't update...so I had to make 10 more. Vendors won't buy them back so it was a loss of about 1000pp.

    You can use the same unemployed merc to satisfy the requirement for multiples.

    Confirmed.
    The nearest "an unemployed mercenary" I could find that works, is right down behind the tree trunk between the small bank (where you are) and the entrance to the GL.

    They are also Findable (Ctrl+F), they'll be at the top if sorted by Category, the bottom if sorted by Description.

    The post is wrong. The Freeport mercenaries are actually in East Freeport. The ones in west Freeport wont give task update.
