Dugroz may be found at -250, -1800 in the Swamp of No Hope.

You say, 'Hail, Dugroz'

Dugroz says 'Fffrroaaak!! Go away! I don't want to [work for them] anymore! Go find another slave!'

You say, 'What work for them?'

Dugroz looks relieved and eyes you, considering. Finally, he begins to recant his tale. 'I was once the slave of an important Iksar necromancer. I was his Dugroz, his head slave. One night, I heard two other slaves talking about me. I could barely hear them but what I did hear frightened me. My master was going to use me one last time. He was going to sacrifice me to craft a spell component for one of his most powerful spells. Hearing this, I used my privileges as his head slave and made my [escape].'

You say, 'How did you escape?'

Dugroz says 'As the head slave, I was allowed to move freely throughout my master's compound. I came across one of the slavemasters asleep in his chair and carefully relieved him of his [keys]. Then, quietly, I made my escape.'

You say, 'What keys?'

Dugroz says 'After I escaped, I lost myself in the depths of the swamp. I discarded all the keys but one. I will gladly give it to you if you can do me a [small favor].'

You say, 'What small favor?'

Dugroz blinks his eyes and leans forward. He whispers so quietly you must strain to hear him, 'I have taken up the same magics as my master. I require two components to complete a spell I have been researching for quite some time. The first is a vampire's fang. I have heard tales of a vampire who haunts the ruins of Kaesora. I also need a jade weapon stained by the blood of a chokidai. Look in the Lake of Ill Omen at the sarnak outpost. The leader used to herd chokidai, or so I am told.'

The "vampire's fang" is a Xalgozian Fang, dropped by Xalgoz in the depths of Kaesora. The "jade weapon stained by the blood of a chokidai" is a Jade Chokidai Prod, dropped by the Chancellor of Di`Zok at the back of the Sarnak fort, by the Lake of Ill Omen. Give these two items to Dugroz.

Dugroz says 'My thanks to you, ______, take this key, I know not what door it opens. Now if I can just find that necklace of power that I took from my master's lair!'

You gain experience!!

You receive the Key to Charasis. Once you zone into Charasis (a.k.a. the Howling Stones), it will go on your keyring.

More information needed on the "necklace of power."

Boon of the Garou works
# Apr 01 2001 at 12:20 AM Rating: Decent
As a 55 troll shaman, Durgaz scowled at me. After a chanter cast Boon of the Garou on me (werewolf form) I was indifferent.

Thank the gods!

It's a really big zone - can anyone give approx loc to where he pops?
RE: swamp is big zone
# Mar 12 2001 at 3:10 PM Rating: Good
He is near the zone to Trak. Go to about pos 1160, neg 4000, which is along the stream that runs to Trak. If you look to the south, you will see a tunnel. You have to jump onto a ledge to get to the tunnel. There are two rooms at the end of the tunnel. He's in the one to the left.
It's not faction
# Feb 19 2001 at 2:10 AM Rating: Good
I did this quest and discovered that I don't think Durgaz talking to you has to do with faction.

I think what needs to be done is that you kill the frog next to him.

Here is what happened:

I conned him, he was dubious. Walked up to him, hail, hail, hail, nothing.

I turned invisible, he was indifferent. Walked up to him, hail, hail, hail, nothing.

I decided to just try and give him the stuff invisible. As soon as it opend the trade window, the frog next to him attacked. He didn't seem to care, so I wasted the frog.

Well, my one shot of invisibility was gone, and I was dubious again, but I figured what the h* I'll try anyways.

Hail, boom, he talked, first try.

So I think you have to clear out the near by frogs before he will speak against his masters. Makes sence.

(This done by a 60 DE cleric)
Confirmed!

>>So I think you have to clear out the near by frogs before he will speak against his masters. Makes sence.<<

I completed this quest tonight. This is correct. Durgoz is a slave, and he won't talk to you until you clear the room. The other frogs are puny, so this was easy.

Dang, sure wish I'd have seen this post before I got my jboots, seeing as how I had one of my characters hand in the AC ring and the rapier, and then logged off and back on with another, and handed in the gold, and got the jboots, I didn't realize you weren't allowed to MQ anymore, dang.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 09 2001 at 10:26 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Well, since you know all, i think my jboots that i have at 53, and got at 52 wern't multi quested, not i, nooo they took it out so i must not have gotten them by multi questing after all you know everything don't you!
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 26 2001 at 6:06 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) After reading this post multiple times, I am still not sure whether you got your J-boots by multi-questing them or not. Before you get on a message board and start shouting 'shut the crap up, you know nothing!', think about what you are going to say and try to convey it in a logical matter. English classes will help you immensely with this task.

Master key?
# Jan 15 2001 at 12:53 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, I just read a post on eqmaps indicating that there is a master key to HS - the post said something about having the "glove bag" and "3 parts from the north, south and west wings". Posts there have questioned if this is for real but have not received any responses so...

Does anyone know if this is for real and if so, is there available info out there about what is needed?

Thanks!

Wolf-form works
# Oct 10 2000 at 1:50 PM Rating: Decent
Just completed the quest today and yes wolf-form works. Was KOS to him at first and had a druid cast wolf-form on me. The crucial part of this is making sure you go through with the prompts to receive the quest - not just hand in the items. Ask all the rights questions up to the details about the spell components (prod and fang) and then hand them in.

Tonight, me and a guildmate were able to get the key even though we were dubious to Durgaz (sp?). We killed all the frogloks leading up to Durgaz. He did not help the frogloks. We hailed him and he began his story. We followed the prompts and he gave us the quest. Handed him the items and VIOLA, a key. I guess the trick is making sure you get the quest from him. So, even a dubious barbarian shaman can get the key.
Xalgoz
# Jul 29 2000 at 1:36 PM Rating: Decent
The respawn time on Xalgoz is 40 minutes, not 25. What's worse is that he doesn't always spawn. He does have a PH.

The ruined church in which he spawns, and the surrounding area, is deceptively easy if you're 50+ and in a group. But you can get lynch mobbed really fast if you do anything stupid (like have players go AFK because they're bored). Getting your corpse out of there is a pain in the butt unless you have a Necro with Summon Corpse.

High level (55+) casters would probably not have a tough time soloing this area. However just yesterday a level 55 Monk got himself (and me) killed when he was goofing off by pulling 8 mobs and found his FD failed.

A lvl 51 magician or necro can easily clear and solo to this area .. Provided you understand the true rules to Green Agro. The pull method is stand at Max range and use a lvl 1 spell (to save mana.. if your a pet class) You should 99% of the time only get one mob (unless your too close to a wall when you fire.. then can agro other mobs be careful near the church when pulling the "M" room) a) once a mob is pulled DON'T sit until mob is in camp.. sitting sets your effective agro lvl to 1.. b) if pet class.. hold finger poised on /pet back off and everytime ya get touched (via spell , whacked etc) hit it Till the mob is FULLY in your pull spot.. ur Pet is your biggest agro liablility as hes prly not over lvl 45 real con (lvl 51 +mage pets max at 45 till lvl 56) so he must NEVER leave your pull area.
c) while clearing .. pull to back of the Church .. until you reach Xalgoz.. fight him in front.. with bad luck on pathing he can inadvertantly run into basement and grab some friends (keep in mind xalgoz still XP to lvl 51 or so.. so hes BARELY green IE can agro others still ) Once xalgoz/PH is dead.. move in .. wait 3 in the church .. then nail the basement( just to give a good gap on repop that way he wont have friends in the basement at same time he spawns)

Expect 2 Hours PER PERSON avg on the fang.. this is calculated at a) Xalgoz is YES 40 minutes a spawn (twice the rest of the room) b)is about a 1 in 3 spawn for the placeholder (this varies with typical Spawn Voodo) and he 1 in 3 drops another Shiney instead of the Fang (like Blade of Xalgoz) which of course just irritates you if your there for the Common drop of the Fang. Fang is NO DROP lore and boy does it annoy warriors to give it up ( AWESOME +stat range dagger warrior only)

Was there last night ...behind a group of 5 waiting for fangs. They were there for 2 hours and got 3 blades.
After me and a partner showed up all 5 fangs dropped in 2 hours and that group left. Me and the Pally waited for 2 more spawns...both dropped a fang and we were outta there.
Spawn time was about 25 minutes,,,,not 40. I should know , my eyes were glued to the clock.

ah your lying even if spawn time was 25 minutes you could not get 5 fangs in 2 hours. would be min 2 and half, if his place holder never spawned 5 times in a row (ya right), and he dropped the fang every time.
stop lying please help people with real info

>>ah your lying even if spawn time was 25 minutes you could not get 5 fangs in 2 hours<<

Do the math. If the spawn time is 25 minutes, you could get 5 fangs in one hour and forty minutes. Assume that the first fang drops at 1:00, it would go like this:

1:00 Fang 1
1:25 Fang 2
1:50 Fang 3
2:15 Fang 4
2:40 Fang 5

Xalgoz and his PH are on a 29 min timer. I just spent 8 hours down there getting 3 fangs. It works like this: directly in the center of the alter either Xalgoz or the PH will pop. Kill one, 29 min later same thing (either Xalgoz or PH).

Get the fang, get the prod
Hug the LEFT wall, past the iksar manslayers is the cubby. keep hugging the left wall, you see him with his necro pet and 2 other frogs
What you need is-invis, and call of bones, lich, wolf form, whatever.
keep invis on, just give him the damn things, and go.
Got my key :>
Charasis is a crazy zone with some eq that makes the stuff in SEBILIS look like newbie zone crap.

Key Quest - Semi-Complete
# Jul 13 2000 at 12:59 AM Rating: Decent
I'm not sure what Durix posted above as it is NOT the Charasis (Howling Stones) key quest.

First off the key to Charasis (Howling Stones) is a two part quest. You do not need to go to Durgaz to get the quest.

However - To change your faction with Dugroz you should get a druid and wolf form (that makes you indifferent). All the frogs on the way to him are KOS if you've ever killed a frog in Kunark before. So go invisible. If you zone in from Trakanon's Teeth then go to the Swamp of No Hope and all the way to the end of the tunnel (at the water fall) and then run along the right wall back towards Trakanon get on the ledge up above you on the right. There is a hidden passage way (not secret - just hard to see from below) that leads to Durgaz. Invis up and then stay left he's in the last room. Uninvis when you get to him but stay at the wall near him so you don't agro the rest of the mobs in the room. Then simply give him the vampire fang and the Jade Chokidai Prod and you have a key (a real key that looks like a key).

The most easy part of this (since I did it tonight) is the Jade Chokidai Prod. Found off of The Chancellor Di'Zok at the Sarnak fortress in the Lake of Ill Omen. He is blue at 54 (I am a druid). Go in the fortress up the ramp and stay to the right. At the end of your trek turn left and go to the end of that hallway. Turn right and you are facing a long hall to the Chancellor's chambers. There are MANY Sarnaks in here. I used superior camoflage (invis) and went to the corner on the left, same wall as the Chancellor. I then rooted him when most of the Sarnaks had wandered off. I dotted him before his pet made it to me (he's a shaman). I rooted and killed the pet and then sat and meditated. I stood after Winged Death wore off dotted him again and he died. Looted the prod (it's visible in his hands if he has it - sometimes he drops some orb as the rare drop) and gated out. That's the easy part.

I cannot yet tell you about the Vampire, however I hear you need a group to kill him as there are too many other mobs around and he's a necro and will cast bad necromancer spells on you. I will be doing that part of the quest tomorrow and will post the rest of this when I get it.

Also the key is currently droppable and not lore. However it has been said that the next patch will change that. I see keys going for about 5k to 10k right now. We fought there all night tonight (borrowed a key for the night) and got LOTS of spells and LOTS of fun weapons/items. The zone to Charasis is in a huge Canyon in the Overthere zone. Easiest way to get there is from Skyfire - zone into Overthere and run straight out. You will need levitate and invis once you get to the canyon unless you want to run around to the long slope in. Drop straight down and you are very near the entrance to Charasis - negative 300 positive 900. The reason you need invis is that there are MANY scorpions guarding the entrance to the zone (down and to the right then left is the way in). They do not see through invisible. Lastly when you first zone into Charasis there are two golems there. They immeidately attack you. So you will need a group that can take them - they are both level 45. I suggest your enchanter, cleric, and tank all zone so they get there at the same time. Good luck.

The fang can be achieved at 50 solo. At least for a necromancer. At 49 most mobs in the zone become light blue, at 52 all become light blue. except Xagly himself. Quickest way to tell if he is up is when you are killing the mobs around his building wether or not they are getting necro-healed. If they are, hes up, if not, hes not. a couple nice items drop in the area there. WR bags, SK/Nec shield, and varous other oddities. It is a pretty nice little experience camp at the appropriate level too.

You say, 'can you repair keys ?' [No answer]

Dugroz is an indifferent frog necro found in the Swamp of No Hope, in the cave to Trakanon Teeth.

OK
What i know:
In Swamp of No Hope you can chase Froglok Ton Warriors. They are fairly uncommon and they drop a rare item "a totem" used for the Enchanter Iksar Illusion spell. I never identified the totem ( killed 7 Ton Warriors :( ) but they drop also broken pieces of totem that identify as "Top Piece of Dai Key" and maybe Bottom or middle piece i dont know).

What I have read:
Iksar Shaman need to find for one of their quest a Die and a Dai skull (Die NoZok and Dai NoZok I think but not sure). The Die Skull are dropped by Sarnak Adherants in Lake of Ill Omen.
It seems that Sarnak are cross breed from Iksars and Dragons.
Maybe they are referred as "Die" but not sure at all.

When you give the 2 items Dugroz want, you gain the key to Charisis, also known as Howling stones.

What I think
The Dai Key was dropped by Dugroz and Ton Warriors have it.
The Dai maybe another brood related to lizards. Remember Dugrow talk about the dogs sarnaks use in Chardok and that are called Choki"DAI"
The Key may be recombined by a high Necromancer in Cabilis or by a slavemaster?
Maybe the Dai are somewhere UNDER Cabilis city. They are catacombs you can access by the Shaman/SK guild.

What I have tried
Give one peice of key to Dugroz. Nothing. But I can’t be so sure as at the same time i gave the key, its pet was in front of me. Maybe I made a mistake.
Asked about Dugroz at all necros in the necro tower.
Asked about Dugroz at the Toilmaster.

What I have not tried
Kill Dugroz to see if he give a key that way (The Jade weapon is camped by Shaman who like to keep it). He is green at my lvl.

My characters
- Durix 48th Human Druid, master forager and moderate tracker (for the Swamp)
- Ssinisster 6th Iksar SK. Questions asker in Cabilis. But too low lvl to enter the catacombs.

1. How good does your faction need to be with him, and
2. How do you improve the faction?

Any help out there on this? --Logh

I just finished getting both items. Xalgoz (who drops the fang) has a respawn time of 25 minutes and often turns up a placeholder. One group said it took 9 hours to get 2 fangs! The Chancellor is easy but respawns every 2 hours. I'd say this quest can take anywhere from 3 to 10 hours.

I'd say for our full group of 6 for each piece, took a min. of 24 hours total. A weekend of nothing but camping for both quest items. :((

This sux. We still need to turn in the keys too. Hope the quest guy is fixed cause won't see me giving up my weekend again for this stuff.

Personally, I think Verant went overboard with this one.

Wow. Myself and 3 guildmates finished the quest yesterday. We had 5 Xalgoz pops in 3 gours 4 of those being fangs, one a sword, and only 1 placeholder. Guess we were lucky.

Estimated time should be closer to 5 hours. That is the minimum you can expect to do this whole thing...

I must have been extremely lucky. Lake of Ill Omen has been empty, took nothing to go in and kill the Chancelor, was working on my 57 druids lvl 29 beguile plant spell, so was something to occupy my time. Anyways, I picked the Jade Chokidai Prod up then. Then, took the wife and her druid and SK, my druid and chanter and went to Keasora to get the last thing I needed for the spell quest, and Xalgoz was up, again, zone was empty except for us. Headed on down there, getting lost as this was the first time there, and found him. Died rather fast of course hehehe. But, he dropped 2 yes, 2 of the Xalgozian Fangs. So not sure if this is common now, or not. Guess I will find out when we go back down to get more for our other toons.
