The Summoning of Terror  

I found one of the parts and for giggles decided to gather the rest.

This mask is NOT clickable from inventory for other classes/races/deities.

My Woodelf Ranger of Tunare cant use it...bummmer....lol.

Just completed this quest (March 5, 2003). It is pretty straighforward except for the Basalt Drake Scale. As several other posters have already pointed out, the easiest way to get the scale is to kill 'a drake', which is one the PH's for Hasten Bootstrutter. Hasten is the guy who give out jboots. Look up Hasten in the Bestiary and you will find instructions on how to locate him and/or his PH.

Has this quest changed recently? I started on this at like 20th level (when i first asked her about it) and now she just laughs at me when i ask "what summoning of terror?" and i'm level 35 with kindly faction, I'm an erudite cleric of Cazic-Thule to boot.

I have been camping this scale for 7 hours I needed two of them for 2 Euridte Clerics in my guild. The first on dropped off of the first Basalt drake we killed nothing unusual. But the second did not pop for 6 hours and 34 basalt drakes later that did not drop the Scale. It finally dropped off of "A Drake". What the heck is up with that. Also the pops we had 2 at a time by killing everything the surrounding area. I hope this helps all those that follow and good luck.

Level Makes a heck of a difference I guess
I went to this cap with my Level 51 Bard to get a couple handfuls of Eye nerves (bracers for a Warrior Twink) and discovered thatthe Gem. Jewle loot makes camping it worth the time - its usually empty - and someone else wants it I let them have it. Once I logged in with Soptyvr & the other 2 Lords all up - and I had camped right smack in the middle.

I was making breakfast so didnt notice I was getting hit for about 5 mins and then as typical Chant of frost, Chant of Flame alternated about 2 times each and the Eye was dead. - Charm is only a nuisance and the worse thing that has happened is the Eyes have died before I can get back on their agro list after Charm wears off and the body vanishes.

Just to make sure everyone knows, this mask is NO DROP. I did this quest as a barbarian warrior in hopes of selling it. Then at the end I found that it is NO DROP. The mask's effect is Fear. The only good thing I got from the quest was my faction in Paineel went from indifferent to amiable. So this is a semi easy way to get faction in Paineel, but does little else for you if your are not a human or erudite cleric.

Is this multi-questable? I have the lens, and my cleric buddy has the rest. We are both ally in Painel cause we went on a slaughter erudin spree one day for faction. Could anyone tell me if you have tried?

nice wisdom for now. anyone knoe what lvl it procs
i think this is a uber item for fear kiteing with a ranger friend having 2 fears and a terror to back up resists. please tell me proc lvl or post

After killing all the black drakes (basalt, onyx, ebon and obsidian - lizard men around the sphinx are PH) for over six hours, I decided to try something different and kill the "a drake" PH for Hasten Bootstrutter. BAM scales. I just wish I would have known they were no-drop or I wouldn't have used my druid...

Not sure why the people here are saying the lord is so tough, I soloed him today at lvl34 (druid) and killed him in about 20 sec. Unfortunatly looks like the lens will be worthless to me. He did dispell my buffs and G-wolf form, but while he was busy dispelling, I was nuking his A$$ to death.

This quest was a big pain in my butt timesink wise. Maybe 4 hours to walk from Lower Guk to Paineel, but NOT to camp everything. Here is my experience:

Eye of Urd - Easiest item to get, as long as you are of sufficient level to group in Lower Guk. You will have the opportunity to pull Urd Wizards from just about every camp in the zone. Not a common drop, but since you'll be there doing the XP grind or hoping for Guk Loot to drop, its palatable.

Lens of Lord Soptyver - Soptyver is shy, and is about an 8 hour spawn. I personally camped there for 6 hours at level 30. It wasn't terrible, because killing the EEs and lesser Lords is reasonable entertaining, about half provided at least some XP for me, and you can hopefully pick up a PBB or two. Word of warning, when Lord Soptyver spawns, ALL THREE Lords spawn together, regardless of how the spawn has been broken up before that. Soptyver cons even to level 30, and the three Lords together killed me and the few other EE campers that were there (mid/upper thirties).

Basalt Drake Scales - VERY annoying. Went there at 40, so no xp. Took five hours to get one to drop. Basalt Drakes are the rarest of the Drake spawns, and it took five Basalts before one coughed up a scale. They spawn on the hillside near Zazamoukh the Sphynx. Beware, because he did aggro me once when I got too zealous in chasing down a Drake. Kill all the drakes you see to get Basalts to spawn.

Widowmistress Hair - Also terribly annoying. I just did her at 40. Everything in Najena is green then, so no xp off anything but the Widowmistress, but there is no way you can solo her, you need a Tank. I spent SIX hours on her, the SIXTH Widowmistress spawn finally dropped hair, and I had to wait through FIVE PHs.

Good luck with the quest all, it is not bad except for the time investment.
