This quest begins with Sern Adolia in the cleric's guild of Paineel. He's located at 1140, 500, -37.
At the end of the "Cazic Thule Initiate" quest, you saw: Sern Adolia says 'Well done, go now and continue your contemplations of fear. Keep up with your [duties] and you will soon be reaping the rewards granted by our Lord Cazic-Thule!!' You say, 'What duties?' Sern Adolia says 'The primary duty of this temple is to spread terror, fright, and dread as a symbol of your devotion to our lord Cazic Thule. We are currently researching a means of summoning avatars of Fright, Terror and Dread, the primary minions of the Faceless in his home plane. Will you [assist me in summoning] the avatar of Fright?' You say, 'I will assist you in the summoning.' Sern Adolia says 'In order to summon the avatar of Fright, I require some special components for the ritual. Fetch me the flesh of a zombie, the dust used in the process of mummification, [charred bone chips], and a [vial of Tunare's Breath].' You say, 'What are charred bone chips?' Sern Adolia says 'Some time ago a necromancer by the name of Obretl was sent to slay Rathmana Allin and his abomination of an adopted son, Ortallius. Obretl failed in his task and now haunts a small ruin in the desert of Ro cursed by Solusek to wallow in his failure in the form of a burning skeleton. Slay Obretl to free him from his pathetic existence and gather his charred remains.' You say, 'Where do I find a vial of Tunare's Breath?' Sern Adolia says 'Tunare's Breath is a life-giving potion created by the Fier'Dal Soldiers of Tunare. Seek out the druid Kalayia who is known to wander the Faydarks in search of reagents for potions. Procure from her a vial of Tunare's Breath. Shed her blood if need be.' Turn in the following items: - Zombie Skin (dropped by various zombies) - Embalming Dust (dropped by mummies) - Charred Bone Chips (from a skeleton named Obretl in South Ro -- spawns in the buried tower ruins between the dark elf vendor camp and the eastern dervish camp slightly north of the grass line) - Vial of Tunares Breath (from a druid named Kalayia in Lesser Faydark, who is a very rare spawn) From killing Kalayia: Your faction standing with Soldiers of Tunare has been adjusted by -100. Your faction standing with King Tearis Thex has been adjusted by -15. Your faction standing with Faydarks Champions has been adjusted by -15. Upon turning in those items, you receive a Mundane Helm. (Need this item uploaded to Lucy) Sern Adolia says, 'I require all four reagents, anything less is useless. Incompetence will get you nowhere amongst the faithful of Cazic-Thule!' He will spawn after you do the turn in. Hand in the Mundane Helm before he despawns. i was near the mistmoore zone where the fae drake ruins are. i decided to kill one of the monarch fae drakes just for fun, and this druid npc comes out of nowhere and proceeded to DOT me. needless to say, i gave her a sound thrashing and she dropped this vial of tunare's breath. i have no use for it, but, for those of us you that need this thing, i assume that if you kill enough of those fae drakes, she will come and hunt you down. =)

I have a big problem, i have try all answers here. Actually i try now three weeks to get Kalayia. But no luck. Have anyone a correct or a other tip that i can try ????

ok if you sit of the flat near the sister camp on the side of the DE camp you will see a mob that spawns and wanders back and forth thru ythat area it is her PH i spent 20 hours in this zone killing al the thistle underbrush spawns and he isnt her PH because he was up when i killed her.i couldnt get her to spawn finally i figured i would just buff t6he newbies kilkling the sisters and wait for someone to tell me she was up but in the mean time i killed the mob i spoke of well within an hour she spawned i quickly got my cleric on and killed her.and i though this couldnt be real so i went back to the same spot killed the same mob and there she was pop in less then 2 hours i had her 2 times.ill send in a screen shot of her so everyone can see her .good luck on her her PH will despawn every 2 hours i read but i cant verify this

Well i have spent over 40+ hours on this Kalayia and with no spawn, i have killed everything , wasp, pixies of all sorts, spiders, all kinds of fairies, and even a tier dal. The post above states to sit by the sister camp and kill the roamong mob that comes from that direction. What exactly mob are you talking about.
I have killed every thing that spawn coming from that direction, and you think i would have gotten her spawn by now. Well i really need help on this what is exactly her phs, you say it spawn 2 hours after you killed the mob. What mob you talking about and was the mob coming from the de camp, was it close to wall or off the wall aways.

Just to let you know i have done Kalayia 3 times in the last six months, and im a human cleric, yes i have helped 2 other clerics to obtain this wonderful helmet. For Kalayai phs, well all 3 times i have killed her, one thing was different, there is a pixe prankster that comes from the east of the sister camp goes up to middle of fire and turns around and heads back east, i of course killed it all 3 times, and guess what Kalayia has spawn everytime since that has happen. Now people say she spawns in the day, not in my experiences she always spawnns between 7pm and 7am. She is rare and after i got mine, i helped another cleric and she spawn like 14 hours after my first one so i say she is just random, but have heard people say she has spawned 4 times within a 12 hour period so i say she is random.

she was green to my druid at lvl 36 but she realy nuked fast and hard and cast creeping crud so she is atleast 24 but under 27

Well I have just completed the Fright Forged Helm quest. Kalayia Woodwhisper has ph's that roam from the rangers to the Fae drake ring, one ph for sure is "a pixie" and Kalayia is not a rare spawn, just that she has phs and the spawn time is 2 hours or more... anyhow, the helm looks like cloth, but depending on what gloves you have, it will look different. I currently have Gnome Skin gloves which are black and the helm appears black as well :)

The helm does not look like cloth, it looks like a plate helm on erudites. It's brown, sure, and doesn't look metallic, but that's the skin they gave to erudite platemail. Don't ask me why, I just don't know...

Hey there, If this guy Obretl is so rare lemme tell you of a storie to get charred bones chips much faster.
One day I was strolling along with me little rogue when I came across a certain Skelly in Field of Bone. His name was "a Militia Skeleton". I had never seen him around these parts before so I gave him a friendly hail and a gentle friendly backstab. Well I must not know my own STR because even a low damage BS took him out. Well I couldnt just now loot the poor little fellow because hey, Im a rogue for pete's sake and free money comes easily err.... I mean hard to come bye. So apon looting him up I Grabbed what looked to me a putrid skelly rib bone but it wasnt, i was called a "chared bone chip" or sumthin liek that. So if this has anything to do with your quest GL because I am gonna upgrade my destroy skill all over these.

That isn't the right charred bone chip. The bones from Obretl have a look similar, yet different, to regular bone chips. It is also not stackable.

The end of this quest is kind of fun, if you're not expecting it. You don't get the helm right away... but I'll leave the fun part for you to find out.

im going to post what happens cause i almost missed it. (at least, i think i did) when you turn all this stuff in to sern he summons the avatar of fright, he pops in the room behind a door which sern is facing, there are 2 rooms connected to the room sern is in, if hes not in one then run to the other, quickly, the avatar shouts "my time here is brief" i had never been to panieel before i did this quest, had no maps or any idea where to look, after reading your posts before i attempted this i was ready for somthing, but i wasnt sure what, those 45 seconds of panic where i couldnt find the avatar sucked! had to work on my faction in the warrens and was extreamly tired by this time, after all this, this terribly boring hard quest, waiting for kalayia and obretl, adjusting panieel faction to be non-KOS, to think that someone might not get their helm, anyways be ready to find the avatar

hehe yep! its funny when all the peeps heading for the hole shout WHERE IS THE ..... .. .... ????this quest has the best ending sequences in the game ;) i cant wait to do the other two!

They aren't the same ones needed for the quest. They wouldn't name a specific name, then put the quest items on different low level creatures. You need Obretl's bones to complete the quest.

search between dark elf camp and the bandit sister camp, make sure you are far enough away from the zone walls, if you hug the walls, you'll never find her, try about 50 ft out where you can barely see the zone walls.

I have done the shield quest, I figured the Ishva would be the toughest camp, WRONG! Where does this lady spawn? Most everyone says around the Nybrights sisters, I have spent 3 days whacking those sisters with a newbie and nothing. Does anyone know how she spawns? Should I just start wasting spawns with AE spells to try and get here to spawn? or is she connected to the Nybright sisters, and will only spawn when they die? Any help is always appreciated ) Obretl was tuff enough, but at least you knew where he would spanw and he had a PH.

Kayalia spawns after (most times) you kill the Ni Bright Sisters she attacks fast I think a 1 minute spawn she will prolly catch you off guard trust me I learned this the hard way.

On a male erudite, the color of the helm matches the color of whatever gloves you are wearing. It is pretty cool :)

Is there an item called "zombie FLESH" or can someone that's done the quest verify that Zombie Skin is fine to use?

I don't even know if I could kill her if I saw her. =( I've heard though that she wanders near the sister camp by the druid ring. I've been offering to powerlevel level 9-11 rangers at the sisters if they'll track for me. We kill Thistle a lot and I let them loot the rune for their tunic quest.

I wish I knew...camped out in Lesser Fay for over a week and killed every wandering critter I can find since I was told she wanders but nothing. I know rangers who camped that zone for months on end and they never heard of her...I'm beginning to think she's broken. So just to say...that 5 hours must mean if you have all the items how long it takes to walk to Paineel to do it...cuz I've spent more like 100 hours waiting for Kalayia to show...
