I did this quest in about 1 hour and sold the talisman to a shaman for 150pp a week later, this is an awesome easy quest if you want some easy wis or some easy cash! get at it! this quest rules!

There are better items you can get at lower levels that give +9+10 wis that you could shove in your offhand. Maybe if you decided to loose your Scimitar and go pure caster you could use it. Umm example please? And hopefully not refering to twinked items, or high lvl friends giving you things, etc. Not to be annoying or anything, but some of my high lvl friends with twinked chars seem to forget what it's really like if you don't have 500pp (or even 10pp) to spend on yourself for that "uber" item . . .

No I agree. The book with the 10wis is much easier to snag than this 4wis item. And if it's off-hand only, I'd rather have it than the 4.
For the book, you go to Qeynos and find Moodoro. Then head over to Dylin Starshine and rock his world. Approximately the same level as this quest. I got my book at level 21.

The book that is refered to is the Testament of Vanear. It is a fairly easy quest but has a big faction hit with the Curropt Qeynos guards. If your faction isn't that good with them when you do the quest you can become KOS to them. So watch out and get the stuff from Qeynos before you do that quest. I got the Testament at lvl 18 but there was one problem, there is a smuggler there that hits HARD 117 dbl dmg so watch out.

one must keep in mind that the item is not no drop, if you are around lvl 20, run the quest even if you have a ToV, for faction, and xp, make a quick run to EC and sell it off, +4 wis ans +10 sv mag might get a decent price to the right buyer.

my main focus is wis. i'm happy if i get +1 on an item. i mean, hopefully i will get a better item sooner or later, but +4 is actually nice. and plus, the ToV IS NOT easier than this quest. Dylin Starshine is an 7 1/2 hour spawn.

what about the +10 vs magic i play on tallon zek. and on a pvp server you go for magic resistance before wis. you live longer.

I agree, it's a nice item and the +10 vs. Magic cannot be overlooked. I carry the Testiment constantly but on occasion I rely on my shiny brass shield for +10 vs. Magic (evil eye fighting mainly). I always carry the shield and it's a load of weight for what little useage it gives.
I'm setting out tomorrow for this +4 wis +10 vs. magic super light item, and will be done with the shield.

Just started playing after a prolonged absence (sold my mage/monk/druid) and started on a fresh server so I could be a _newbie_ without all those freaking (tempting) twinks.

Yes, the testament does look very nice, but also VERY LONG SPAWN! And every time i there there is a waiting list...

Oddly, the Testament was really easy to get for me. I've heard a lot of horror tales over the spawn, but I found where he was supposed to be and he was just standing. I was only level 10, so I asked a 24 Cleric to bop him for me, and gave her 10 pp. 4 pp for the book and other page, and I was set. My dr00d (now level 13) is my highest char and I keep getting screams that I'm twinked, though.

You say your not a twink when you have a higher level kill something that you cant and then you loot its corpse, whats the difference between that and that Cleric finishing the quest and handing the book over to you for free. As far as Im conncerned anyone that gets an item that they is out of their reach solo or in grouping is tweak and looting corpses that you could not kill is tweaking including scraps left by higher levels.

I must be lucky cause I got the skin on the first try-first kill. And I didn't need levitate to get on the tigers ledge, just run and jump with SOW on.

The only hard part about this quest is all the running. Giant snake fangs can be looted off the snkaes in Blackburrow or off the carrion crawlers in E Karana. The tiger pelt as most everyone knows can be looted off the tiger in Ak'Anon. For us taller folks, the easiest way to get over there is to duck, run and jump just as you get to the ledge. You'll have to go at an angle, don't try it head on. Once you are over, be patient. The first time I got a tiger skin the first kill. second time was a different story. Bring along a sewing kit and some patterns. You might as well practice your tailoring skills. There's no need to log out after each kill. Just sit back and relax. The guards can't get up to you and the tiger can't jump down. Get as many skins as you want then log off and come back in. The aviak is the only challenge. Again be patient. Just auction for anyone to send a tell if they come across an aviak charm. People in SK are always oocing 'aviak charm at loc'. Tada! Go get your bone talisman.

there are a lot of tigers spawning at on the lil island in kerra island .. has anyone tried killing them for skins??? im thinking they would have it.. plus there are a lot of them

I'm a 40th Druid, so as just about everything cons green to me there, I thought I'd have a pop at the tigers on the small island.
The first thing I'll say is do not fall into the pit with the tigers. They'll claw you bad and its hard to climb while your being eaten :o)
The second thing is I've killed about 15 of them and no sign of a skin - so its up to you if you want to keep trying. If you do, here's some pulling tips...
Find a method of getting over the water FAST (I used levitate).
Stand on the edge of the pit until a cat agro's you. Then move to stand by the spikes and the Cat man near the edge at the ladder side of the pit.
After a couple of attempts the Tiger will jump out of the pit (normaly close to the ladder). Note. The cat man will buff it. Also if you stay on the island the cat men will heal the Tiger.
Now the cat is out of the pit, pull it off the island and take it back to the area behind the dock on the mainland.
Once off the island nobody gave me an issue while killing the tiger. Remember though - the cat men con green to me!

This is Five Times easier than the Testament of Vaner and still gives a handy +4 WIS boost. Too much walking to do it again. That Kitty died many many times. If you have a friendly druid, I guess you could get the stuff in a couple of ports. Anyway, the extra Wisdom is very handy for the trade skills. Equip that with some cheap jewelry and you're rolling!
P.S. Kerra ridge looked like an awesome place to hunt at 22nd level. Just be sure to hand in your stuff before you ruin your faction. Everything was blue blue blue.

Ok get an Enchanter to cast Levitate on you to get your un-coordinated butt into that cage. While you're at it, just have that enchanter Root and Sanity Warp that kitty into the next county. Just be sure he/she is also on the platform when root is cast or the little robot will do a dance on your pal. A memory blur will ensure you safe passage out of there.
That's AWESOME that the kitty has no faction!! This negates the low drop rate problem. Now I can finally get that pelt. Ha ha haa! The talisman is MINE at LAST!!

The tiger spawn rate in the akanon zoo is 5 minutes, it took me about 10 kills to get the skin. I had trouble getting to the pen as a human but with sow and straffing I was able to make the jump.

I camped the tiger on three different occasions and it never dropped the pelt. Finally on the fourth camp it dropped on the first kill. THERE IS NO FACTION ASSOCIATED WITH THE TIGER!!! Gate out when you get the pelt, the clockwork guard will kill you if it sees you killing the tiger but you will never become KOS in Ak'kanon if you kill the tiger. The aviak charm was the most trouble. I had to kill about 4 or 5 avo's to finally get the charm. The giant snake fang is easy to come by as well. I will eventually get the Testament of Vanear but this will do until I have 7 hours or so to camp.

Testament of Vanear is a better Item, but for PvP, this one should be in your backpack. Anyone on a PvP server knows that MR is gold. I keep it in my backpack and whip it out for PvP fights against Casters.

Get to Tox Forrest, head West to the water. Swim or boat (canoe available) across to Kerra Island. Once there, go across the bridge and then vear left. You'll find a clearing with a dock. Just past the dock is a hut, and in there lies Errak the smelly cat Thickshank.

she is on kerra island. and its not the cat island u stop by on ur way to erudin. u have to go through tox, swim a bit, and go through a tunnle to get to the REAL kerra isle. errak is in a small hut near the docks to necro island.

The only faction you'll have to worry about is with Jojo, who spawns in the spot the tiger does. If you don't want to lose faction, do not kill Jojo. There is a tiger that spawns in a large building on Kerra called "a tiger" that will drop the skin and works for the quest, but it's not easy to do as Kerrans will agro if you do not have some one near to harmony. I've seen it done. At any rate, the totem is not a range slot item, secondary only. The toughest part is the tedious camping for the skin, the charm and snake fang are much simpler. Great quest for patient druids who are around 19th. You'll need to loot some one elses Avo of course, but that's the fastest way to get the charm for anyone. (Short of high level farmers).

One must use tiger pelts from Ak'Annon. Be warey of sitting too close to the walls, had a guard aggro me through the wall today.
The pelt is not a lore item and may therefor be transferred.
As for gnomes giving you the creeps, I don't blame you. ;)

tigers i heard are on kerra island. but they r also in the zoo at ak'kanon. there r only 3 pits with zoo animals in them. bear, lesser mino, and a tiger. if u get in the tiger pit. and sit in the corner, and kill it, no one can reach u so u r safe. but its good to have root, because the tiger will run, and he jumps down in the deeper pit where the zoo keeper is. the pelt is not no drop.

First, I was able to get it off the tiger in the zoo on the 14th or 15th try. It was tough being a human and jumping across onto the platform with the Tiger, but with enough speed and timing it can be done... just be patient. Second, I was very nervous about getting killed by a guard, so each time that I killed the Tiger I'd camp and re-log (buy only when I got the "Unauthorized entry - guards will kill you blah blah blah" type message). Finally, I sold it yesterday for 250pp, but it took about a week of auctioning before I got a taker...

I just got the Tiger in Ak to drop the skin, but I must have killed it 35-45 times before it did so. As far as the advice to pull the tiger out of his cage to kill it goes I say BAD IDEA. It was at the zone when I first arrived, and I wound up having to sacrfice myself to pull the damn clockwork (who seemed to be keeping it company) away far enough that i could kill it and get it to respawn at in it's cage in the zoo. Not a good idea, much easier to camp in it's cage. Also, I was the victim of a bug where the guard was somehow able to get into the tiger's cage and stomp me, but as this only occured once and I killed the tiger about 40 times, I would say that was likely a bug and not a common occurance. My 2cp.

I've been camping the tiger in the zoo for 2 days. I've killed him at least 50 times and no tiger skin. He sometimes drops ruined cat pelt. Does anyone know if they changed it so he no longer drops the skin?

He still drops the skin. I camped him for a day or two but finly i got it. Also i heard that a gnome out side of the west gate in free port sells all kinds of skins. any time i went there we was away from his tent and wouldnt sell.

Tiger Skin is a rare drop off a very low level spawn in the AkAnon zoo. The only way to kill the tiger and not have the guards attack you is to jump over to the tiger's cliff. There you can attack the tiger, and the guards can not reach you. The tiger will turn to run, but he does not jump off of the cliff. The tiger is a 6 minute spawn, so what I recommend doing is killing the tiger and then camp to clear the guards argo list. Log back in, kill the tiger...repeat if needed. There is NO faction tied to the tiger. Once you have looted the skin jump down and head out of the city.
