Rain of Fear Information & Guides: An Overview | Group Progression & Task List | Raid Progression | Visible Armor

This is a solo task that begins with Asupi Muksap (map) in the Breeding Grounds. He is located around 200, -350, -99 (from the zone-in area, head east into the narrow tunnels and to the northwestern-most room in those tunnels).

Pre-Requisites:
- Level 85
- No tasks

You say, 'Hail, Asupi Muksap'

Asupi Muksap's whiskers twitch as he speaks to you with a surprising command of the common tongue, 'Hail to you, _____. Tell me, do you have a discerning [palette]?

You say, 'Palette?'

Asupi Muksap says 'While the Paebala and [Chetari] share somewhat of the same diet, our tastes are much more refined than our primitive counterparts. They choose to feed off the rancid corpses of dragons, while we prefer to feast on finer [delicacies].'

You say, 'What about the Chetari?'

Asupi Muksap's eyes squint as his voice drops to a more serious tone, 'Chetari are the filthy ratmen that followed us here from the Necropolis. They breed like rabbits, polluting any area they inhabit. Those mindless scavengers already outnumber the Paebala, and will soon deplete the [food supply] with their insatiable appetite for decomposing dragon flesh.

You say, 'Food supply?'

Asupi Muksap says 'Unlike Dragon Necropolis, this cavern breathes new life rather than constant death. We must sustain ourselves on the flesh of dragons, but a dragon corpse is often hard to come by. We are few, and they are many, which is why the Paebala look for [allies] in adventurers like you. Someone with your skills can bring those large beasts to the ground, take their spoils, and leave the corpse for us to feed on.'

You say, 'What allies?'

Asupi Muksap says 'A true ally would [help] us get rid of the Chetari. I can say with certainty that Norrath would be better off without them. Of course I don't expect you to get your hands dirty...' The ratman flashes a quick smile, revealing tiny, pointed teeth. 'The Chetari's insatiable hunger will be the cause of their demise. You will simply lead them to it.'

You say, 'I will help'

Asupi Muksap nods in approval, and begins to disclose his plan, 'The best way to quietly reduce the Chetari population is to poison their food supply, but it's not as simple as pouring poison into their food. The scavengers will be able to detect any additives to their food, so we need to start at the [source].'

You have been assigned the task 'Poisoning the Food Supply'.

Asupi Muksap has asked you to help poison the Chetari's food supply. Asupi needs a few ingredients before he can mix the poison.

You say, 'Tell me about the source'

Asupi Muksap continues, 'If you can poison the dragons before you kill them, then the meat that clings to their bones will also be tainted, but undetectable to the Chetari. I have the formula for the poison all figured out, I just need you to collect the ingredients. Fear Fungi grows in warm spots within the caverns. You can scrape volcanic ash from the wings of lava dragons. Once you have the required items, return to me and I will coat your weapons in poison.'

Pick Fear Fungi from around the caverns 0/4 (The Breeding Grounds)

These are ground spawns from "warm spots" around the caverns.

Recover volcanic ash from the wings of lava dragons 0/4 (The Breeding Grounds)

Deliver the Fear Fungi to Asupi 0/4 (The Breeding Grounds)

Speak to Asupi 0/1 (The Breeding Grounds)

You say, 'Hail, Asupi Muksap'

Asupi Muksap begins to cast a spell.

Your weapon is coated in poison.

Asupi Muksap takes the items from you and begins to mix them together into a thick liquid that he then drips over your weapons. 'Be careful not to get any of this on your skin. It could have some negative side effects... Other than that, as long as your weapon remains coated, you should be able to poison any large, non-lava dragon you fight.'

Loot Tainted Dragon Flesh from the corpse of a sickly dragon 0/2 (The Breeding Grounds)

Kill any two regular fear or ice dragons while you have the poison buff on you. This turns the dragon green and indicates that they are poisoned. Kill and loot from corpses.

Place the Tainted Dragon Flesh inside a pile of dragon bones 0/2 (The Breeding Grounds)

The piles of dragon bones are found throughout the Chetari tunnels (you'll probably need to clear the room first).

Return to Asupi 0/1 (The Breeding Grounds)

You say, 'Hail, Asupi Muksap'

Asupi Muksap's lips curl up into a mischievous grin. 'So the deed is done? Good, good. I'm sure those filthy Chetari will devour every last morsel of that tainted meat! You've helped more than you know.'

You have helped Asupi reduce the Chetari population by poisoning their food supply.

a scorched defender's wings are coated in volcanic ash

a magma fiend's wings contain no volcanic ash

a flamewing lets forth a blast of fire and charges

and the Fear Fungi is mushroom looking red things on ground.. located in the bigger red round spots by the zone in transportor or up the stairs at the end of tunnels in that round red lava like ground

when both toons had the buff on, the dragon turned green and said (poisoned beneath it) and dropped 2 meats.
One died (the one that looted the meats already) and lost the buff.
Next large dragon they fought, it didn't turn green or say (poisoned) but still dropped 1 meat.
Same for the 2nd large dragon for the 2nd toon.
