This task begins with a rather well-spoken Ogre named Leopold Crunchbasher (map) in Shard's Landing (in the southwestern part of the crater: 170, 380, 1). You say, 'Hail, Leopold Crunchbasher' Leopold Crunchbasher says 'A gracious and formal welcome to you, _____, your reputation precedes you. My associate and I have been spearheading an investigation into the nature of these 'new' incarnations of familiar lands. If you are seeking to use this portal as a means of rapid transit to the feartouched lands of Velious then you will first need to [attune] your soul to the portal.' You say, 'Attune?' Leopold Crunchbasher says 'The attuning process is rather simple and one you may remember if you were party among the first explorers of the lands after the Icebreaker touched down in Iceclad. Travel to the Eastern Wastes by natural means and make your way through the gate to its feartouched incarnation. Once there, activate the attuning crystal and simply return here. This will be enough to align your being to the magic used in the construction of these portals.' You have been assigned the task 'Eastern Wastes: Zeixshi-Kar's Awakening Portal Activation'. Activate the Dire Tuning Crystal while at your destination. Activate the Dire Tuning Crystal 0/1 (Eastern Wastes: Zeixshi-Kar's Awakening) Enter Zeixshi-Kar's Awakening from its actual access point. Head to the Eastern Wastes and to the very far southeastern corner of the zone where you'll find a crystal at -9100, -4200, 143. For your "eastwastes.txt" map: P 4191.0000, 9091.0000, 143.0967, 0, 0, 240, 2, Zeixshi-Kar's_Awakening There, click on the crystal to zone in and right-click the Dire Tuning Crystal. Then return to Shard's Landing to complete the task. Wizards can bind at the Crystal in Easter Wastes and use Teleport Bind AA to transport groups directly there and have them zone in, click attuning shard and zone through to Shard's Landing.

Who ever came up with this attuning crap needs to get smacked!! Really? This is stupid. Run around and waste my time just so I can port from zone to zone.
I am guessing that the idea behind this, as with other much earlier quests, is to introduce those of us who don't know these zones, or their location, to where and what they are. Seems fair to me.
buying this expansion is rather like buying a car without keys.

PoKnowledge>Great Divide>EW, run to other side of map and click crystal to enter, when you zone in you can immediately right-click the Tuning Crystal in your inventory. Once attuned, the portal back to Shards in 10 yards away.
