A high amiably faction (274 is the reported faction value that works) with Ashen Order is needed to receive the quest and to turn in the quest items.
Low "amiably" does not work !

Brother Velan Torresk may be found at -214.00, -1531.00, -117.25.

You need to be at least +274 (amiable) to Ashen Order to do this quest.

You say, 'Hail, Brother Velan Torresk'

Brother Velan Torresk says 'Greetings, ______! I am Velan Torresk of the Ashen Order. I am in charge of training the newest members of our clan, and helping them advance their skills and rank. When members perform certain tasks on behalf of the Order, they advance to a higher rank in our clan, and are awarded a special [sash].

    You say, 'What special sash?'

Brother Velan Torresk says 'The Sashes of Order are given out by the various trainers of our clan. I give out the [white training sash] and the [yellow Sash of Order], and [Reyia] is in charge of the [orange and red sashes].'

You say, 'What white training sash?'

Brother Velan Torresk says 'The white training sash of the Ashen Order is awarded to our new members for completing a few simple tasks to prove their devotion to our clan. As you know, Freeport is a very hostile place, under constant attack from [orcs], wild beasts, and even the undead. To help keep this city and its citizens relatively safe, we must help the Militia protect the main gates. Bring me two Deathfist pawn scalps from those vile [Deathfist orcs], a snake fang, and some bone chips from a skeleton. Good luck, Flailz, represent us well!'

    You say, 'What Deathfist orcs?'

Brother Velan Torresk says 'The Deathfist orcs are a large tribe of orcs who live out in the desert. They are constantly sending small raiding parties and scouts to attack Freeport and its citizens.'

    Hand in the items.

Brother Velan Torresk says 'Ah, very good. You are well on your way to earning the white sash.'
Brother Velan Torresk says 'Ah, very good. You are well on your way to earning the white sash.'
Brother Velan Torresk says 'Ah, very good. You are well on your way to earning the white sash.'
Brother Velan Torresk says 'Good work, ______, you've worked hard and prove yourself a valuable addition to the Ashen Order. Here's your white sash, wear it with pride.'

Your faction standing with Ashen Order has been adjusted by 25.
Your faction standing with Knights of Truth has been adjusted by 3.
Your faction standing with Silent Fist Clan has been adjusted by 1.

    Sash quests
    # Jul 24 2001 at 6:21 PM Rating: Default
This is fairly simple to do.The sashes are not no drop,so i simply used my human monk and worked it to high enough lv to do all the quests.I did them and then transfered them to my iksar monk. The only bad thing is that yes you have to get a human monk up to lv if you dont already have one. Some people might think that doing the faction quest would be easier, but i dont like doing the faction quests.I hope this can help some of you out
I too can't get the sash quest

I'm human, level 10 monk...have "amiable" as a faction in Ashen Order (where I
started). I don't even REMEMBER having a "note" to give to my guildmaster
when I started. If I wasn't assigned one, or if I destroyed it accidentally, this
seems like a real real real BullS*** bug in the code, to prevent me from ever
getting the sash quests. I've put in a request to the "support" email guys for
    an answer.

I tell you, every day I find a new thing I hate about this game...

Ok here is how all the iksars get into FP, Get your faction up with FP and AO(FP monks) by killing orcs, then you take the belts you got from killing them and turn them in to the head guard guy in FP in Wolf Form he will give faction AND exp! That quest brings down your knight faction which means you cant bank in NFP :o( but just go kill some more orcs.

P.S. While in Wolf form you might want to do the White sash quest a few times it will also raise faction and you get a nifty belt.

Just Kill Ran'un and get the Red Sash from him. Useful if your going for your epic and need the sash.

Is it possible to perform this quest repeatedly (destroying or giving away the sashes as you get them)? The faction benefit might be worthwhile...

I am in the same boat as the other human monk, except I am from Freeport. Velan still won't give me the quest. My monk is level 16 and I have not killed any but orcs, pumas, lions, undead, and crocs. My faction should be great with Freeport with or with out the orc kills. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

As far as i can tell, only monks of Quellious faction who hand in their guild note as newbies can do these sash quests. My monk was never able to complete this quest, i thought maybe i needed higher faction untill one day i decided to make a new monk and try handing in the guild note which i destroyed on my old monk (big mistake). Handed in the guild note and whallah! I was given the white sash quest. You might be able to do this quest if by chance you can get your faction all the way up to warmly, but for all you new monks out there i highly recommend you turn in your guild note.

Start another Monk character, give the note to a trusting player to hold or drop on the ground in remote spot (I've done this but ya gotta be quick) and relog with your character that does not have the note. Get the note and turn it in.

The note trade idea might not work... but... you can create a fresh monk in order to find out the all-important [key phrase] to get info on a quest.

    hi
i'm a humain monk, so i went to the monk guild at freeport to have information about sashes, i talk to velan torresk and when it's time to ask what i need to have a sash, he answer me that i have to prove my fidelity and so he can't talk about such maters...
same for reyia, she doesn't want to talk about what i need to obtain a sash...
please help me to find out why, is it a prob of divinity , factions or do i have something to do before ?
    thx all

You are a monk from Qeynos, Right? Yes, it is a faction issue. You will need to get your faction up with the Ashen Order before you can perform the quests for the sashes in Freeport.

Killing Orcs in West Freeport's newbie area as well as those in the commonlands will help you to raise your faction with this group.
    Rebby Whiskers
    # Aug 29 2000 at 9:14 AM Rating: Decent
to get yer faction up, make a mule rogue and talk to the femake delf rogue to get the note to Rebby (which is lore), give the note to Rebby and you get whiskers ( NOT lore nor no drop) that the delf wants. Do this over untill ye get about 100 whiskers. Have a friend transfer the whiskers to yer Iksar monk and sneak behind the delf and give her the whiskers in 4 stacks of 4. The faction are all positive for Freeport Militia, Coalition of trade folk III, Coalition of tradefolk, and Qeynos guards i think. Next step is to give Groflah in Seafareres Roost about 80 tumpy tonics ( I had to kill a bard to get to groflah ). This raises freeport paladins faction in NFreeport. I am still working Ashen Order faction on orcs. But at the present I can walk thru 75% of Freeport safely. Clerics and Bards both want my tail fer a trophy. I am dubios to paladins and mitlitia, warm to merchants and rogues so I can bank with no fear.

If you let a orc kill you, you will then start gaining positive factions from them again.

This is totally wrong if they kill you you just die. Having faction with the orcs is useless anyway so just keep killing them until they hate your guts.
    Ashen Order faction
    # Aug 12 2000 at 7:48 AM Rating: Default
Sorry, but I don't see how Highhold will help at all with Freeport. To my knowledge there is no Freeport faction from either the orcs, gnolls, or smugglers in Highhold Pass.

However, after spending about 20 hours of playtime I managed to max out faction given from orcs in the Commonlands. What did I get from this? Well, not Freeport militia, to my knowledge if your faction is kos with the militia there's only a few special ways to raise it, none of them are easy and all kill your faction with something eles. However, I did get enough faction to bank in N.Freeport, and I did get my faction to amiable with the Ashen Order. HOWEVER, I am not able to get the white sash quest (and giving the items for it didn't work either), nor was I able to get the Treat Fist quest. I can train there, and buy from the merchants in the guild though, unlike the merchants in N.Freeport who all glower at me.

Been a long time since I killed orcs in HH so bear with me. The orcs occassionally drop a body part(I thinks it an ear or scalp). Turn this part into one of the officers up above pathway(sorry I don't remembr name) I believe doing this quest gives you freeport militia faction.
    Scalps to the Captain
    # Nov 11 2000 at 6:50 AM Rating: Default
The Captain on the wall near Mucktails spawn site gives good faction to all bad militia, (Qeynos and Freeport), for scalps. And no bad faction either!! =)
    Iksar Into Freeport
    # Aug 11 2000 at 7:36 PM Rating: Decent
Hang out in Highhold Pass / Keep for a LONG, LONG time. Everntually, you will get faction with the Freeport Militia high enough to enter East / West Freeport (dubious more than likely). For Ashen Order faction, kill tons of orcs till your faction can't go any higher. Then you may be able to do the first quest for the White Sash of Order over and over for another LONG time to get your factions high with both monk guilds.
    Iksar monk
    # Jul 18 2000 at 9:10 AM Rating: Decent
What does an iksar monk have to kill to be able to get into freeport and about how many. i have killed a bunch of orcs outside east freeport but didnt get a positive faction hit for the guards at the gate. ashen order went up some, but how do i know if im still kos. some veiw me indifferent and still attack me. should i kill something beside orcs?
    RE: Iksar monk
    # Jun 26 2001 at 9:04 AM Rating: Decent
If your getting attacked by indif's, it means your not Dubious or better with everyone there. a KOS guy is agroing on to you, and agroing the indiffs' on to you.

I'm in the middle of getting non-kos, about 140 whiskers from the 'note for Rebby' quest, will get you non-kos to the guards in EFP and WFP. Ally to the merchants/ rogues.
This is where it gts annoying, how do you feel about 40 White sashes? well, grab enough items for doing the quest 40 times, get wolf form(druid lv39)/ alliance(chanter spell, lv8) and go hand them in, this SHOULD max your factions with the monks, as well, as getting you to High dubious/ low apprehensive with the NFP guards. Very long winded, but its quicker than killing orcs.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 09 2000 at 2:08 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You need to give the guy who gives you the quest 4 gnoll pup scalps now.

Ummm. That would be for the headband quests in Qeynos. This is the page for the sashes in Freeport.
