Yes it only has to be one Muffin. Only the bought kind, not crafted. Also if you ask about Voleen's, where he says "It'd be easier for us both if I show you" he will begin walking from wherever he is to the front of Voleen's Bakery and will stop in front of the sign for a moment.

I tried it for the heck of it. I am lvl 30 so no xp, but nice faction hits for lights. Bad faction hits for darks. I got the brass ring though. It's kinda useless because +1 CHA doesn't really do anything and it's no drop so you can't even sell or give it away. Wenbie doesn't even give you enough coin to pay for the cost of the muffins, so you lose out financially. Not such a good quest considering you could make yourself KOS in Qeynos if you do it too many times.

I gave this guard over 100 muffins, (no joke). I gained 3 lvs (i started at lv 1) and great Qeynos faction. He never got full after several 100 muffins.........
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 16 2001 at 2:51 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This might help you if you are a warrior and want to know what the one word in gnoll means. Captain Tillin in the arena is also a warrior guild trainer. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the list of skills he can teach you, and lo and behold, one of the many languages he trains in is gnoll! I would imagine you would have to train up to at least average otherwise, it might still sound like gibberish, and of course, make sure you have your language set to gnoll before you give the brass ring away. I have not tried this myself, but you can always make a warrior mule and spend all his training points on gnoll until you think he is good enough at it to understand what the gnoll says to you when you return his ring. (It is probably something stupid like 'thanks')
buy muffins here

What do you mean you can't find them? Voleen's got em, Any "General Store NPC" has em, I'm also sure that there are at least three places in Erudin where you can buy them

Magic Muffins
# Sep 08 2001 at 3:21 PM Rating: Decent
it is my idea that when one gives enough muffins , one is swallowed up into a magic portal where all the muffins are stored. in Magic muffin land, all things are possible. one day i will save enough money to buy enough muffins, and i will live happily forever.

perhaps some of the muffins are used to breed new orcs. muffin bred orcs would use muffin attacks.

Ignore the people saying this quest sucks. If you want CorruptQeynosGuards faction, do the Inert Potion quest. If you want CircleOfUnseenHands faction, go to Hanns Krieghor in the Rogue guild, make a hotkey for "/say Carson has a mole in Highpass" and keep saying it for about 5-10 minutes. You will constantly gain faction.
RE: Factions...
# Sep 17 2001 at 1:46 AM Rating: Default
all fine and dandy but you have to first be amiable to CircleOfUnseenHands to get a faction hit for telling him about carson's mole, great to insure that your faction doesn't ever drop to KOS with them but not so hot for trying to get better faction unless you are an enchanter...

Yes, it is fine and dandy - do the Honey Mead for Trumpy quest to get to amiable first. Do some research while you're at it.

Also, the Slansin quest in Erudin Palace raises a bunch of bad guy factions without lowering any good ones
The Ring
# Jul 29 2001 at 12:55 PM Rating: Good
If you identify the brass ring, it is really Vanik's Band. I have heard if you give it to Vannik, the gnoll, in one of the Karanas I think, He will say one word in gnoll.

Anybody know what it means, I haven't got around to giving him the ring, and I don't know gnoll so I am not about to.
hmmm

Kind of like muffin quest in Freeport. This isnt very good because you cant overdo it for factions unless you like being killed by Corrupt Guards everywhere and attacked by members of Circle of Unseen Hands (especially Corrupt Guards. They are all over the place).
No surprise
# May 06 2001 at 2:40 AM Rating: Decent
If you give someone 5000 muffins I am surprised you aren't KOS with them let alone anyone else. Try eating that many yourself.
why no drop?
# Mar 06 2001 at 12:08 PM Rating: Default
Just wondering if the brass ring is part of a larger quest...considering that it's a No Drop item. any info would be helpful.
Just want to let you know im STILL KoS everywhere in South Q
# Sep 23 2000 at 3:33 AM Rating: Default
This quest STILL sucks major butt.

Im level 25 now, and am STILL needing to put on invis after spending 2 solid WEEKS in rivervale and HighKeep doing the chomper and ear/scalp quests.

Say what you want, this quest is STUPID.
btw....

I am a female barbarian rogue playing on lanys. Merchants really dislike rogues in general so having my merchant faction up to warmly was a nice accomplishment in my book. I am still working on my necro/sk guild faction and my priest of life/order of thunder. Those are the hardest for me to raise.

This is a nice way to raise your Qguard faction and very cheaply. What you need to do is balance this out and go other quests that help your CorruptGuard faction if it starts to get low. Example, necro's/sk's that start in Q can get guard/merchant faction this way and for very low cost.

It is very foolish to think you can take 5000 neg faction hits and not have to worry about it. It is not mystery what faction hits you are taking, so just use good judgement and dont overdo it and everything will work just fine.

Remember that you should combine faction from Quests with faction earning from slaying monsters to develop your social standing in EQ.

Ignore the comment "DONT EVER DO THIS QUEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!" you see above. Learn your social standing with the different factions involved and then decide for yourself if this is a quest you should work on.

After careful work on my Q factions they went from pretty much all apprensive to the following: Qguard Kindly, CorruptQguards amiably, Merchants: warmly. This was by a combination of killing gnolls in BB turning in fangs/moonstones and doing misc quests such as this one. It can be done with a little planning.
Easy Quest

It only took 3 muffins to get the ring which is a decent item for a low-level anything who isn't a twink.
Scratch that.

Dont EVER EVER do this miserable worthless quest. I am Mega-Ultra KoS, and every time my Invis wears off ANYWHERE in South Qeynos, The Rat Minsk, Trumpy and Barstomper instantly spawn wherever I am at, and beat the crap out of me. I had the unfortunate experiance of Binding myself to the fishing beaches behind the Docks, right as i was insta-killed by Barstomper. Wouldnt you know it, I regained my concentration as i was getting stomped.

Killed 3 times in a row before i was able to run (or swim rather) away.

I am now stuck looking for other means (besides the Inert Potion quest, which i would have to do approximately 500 more times) to raise my faction with both the Corrupt Guards and Unseen Hands (which i believe only raises Corrupt Guards anyways).

This is the most worthless, quest I have come across, and is only good for completely destroying any joy of playing this game. I have lost 3 levels in Qeynos, and the only reason i stay here is because it is located near the safest levelling zones.

DONT EVER DO THIS QUEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Faction with the Circle of Unseen Hands can be increased by killing bandits and farmers (only if they con the same as the bandits) in West Karana.
Brass Ring

Dont Overdo this Quest
# Jul 07 2000 at 12:16 AM Rating: Excellent
I spent 25 plat, and gave him 5,000 Muffins ofer the course of a day, and My reward was one bubble of EXP at level 9, (Gnome Enchanter) and a -5000 Faction hit with the CorruptGuards of Qeynos, and the Circle of Unseen Hands.

Needless to say I am KoS untill I give Trumpy Enough Meads... Which By The way are like 1,000% more expensive than the Muffins
