This task is the fourth in a series of six. It begins with Dorina in Goru'kar Mesa atop the Windwillow plateau with the other dryads.

After you've done the "Dorina's Personalized Gift" task, you see:

Dorina says 'He laughed? Really? He really has [deluded] himself then.'

You say, 'Hail, Dorina'

Dorina says "Ah, it is you. Can you help me? I worry that Simu has become [deluded].

You say, 'Deluded?'

Dorina says "Yes. Yes he has. I think I know how to deal with this though. I think it needs the youuch of another person making it. Will you [make] this gift for him? I am happy to give you the [instructions].

You say, 'I'll make it'

Dorina says "You have been so helpful, thank you. Do not be afraid to ask me for [instructions].

You say, 'I need the instructions'

Dorina says 'It seems more complex than it really is. This note will explain it.'

You have been assigned the task 'Dorina's Personalized Gift'.

Dorina gives you Silkfang Pack Instructions which reads as follows:

First make yourself a spool of spider silk thread. Take 8 spider silks and spin it into spider silk thread. Once you have the thread, use a recluse spider fang as your bobbin and spin 3 spider silk threads onto it to make your spool of spider silk thread. Prepare 4 wolf canine teeth by carefully drilling a hole in it using your sewing needle. Do the same thing to prepare 5 large snake fangs. Use another spider silk thread to string the 4 canines and 5 fangs together, being sure to knot it properly to space the teeth evenly. Finally, get a supple wolf pelt and, using a backpack pattern, make a bag with the spool of spider silk thread and string of teeth.

Make a "Folded Silkfang Pack" using Tailoring (170 Trivial):
- 1 x Backpack Pattern - Bought
- 1 x Spool of Spider Silk Thread - Crafted (see this recipe link for details)
- 1 x String of Teeth - Crafted (see this recipe link for details)
- 1 x Supple Wolf Pelt - Dropped (dropped by wolves in Goru'Kar Mesa)

Turn in the Folded Silkfang Pack to Dorina:

Dorina says 'You did a really great job with this! Simu will love it. Please give it to him.'

Find Simu:

You say, 'Hail, Simu'

Simu says 'Hello! It's always nice to see a friendly face.'

Hand him the item:

Simu says 'Oh my. She really is determined isn't she? While this is a much better bag than before, but you can keep it. I really have no interest in someone who I have yet to see with my own eyes.'

Head back to Dorina:

You say, 'Hail, Dorina'

You have delivered that Silkfang Pack to Simu, but he didn't want it. Dorina is more dismayed than ever.
You gain experience!!

Dorina says 'He [really said] that he has not seen me? I don't know what to do! Keep that silly bag, it holds nothing but bad memories for me.'

This leads to the next task in the series, "Dorina's Potion".

All recipes already exist on site. Actually, all the crafted items are listed on the page detailing Dorina #3: Dorina's Gift, but that quest involves zero tradeskilling. All those items/recipes should be linked on this page instead.

ps. You get to keep the pack you crafted, as neither of the NPCs keeps it.

My advice to everyone doing this Hero's Journey quest is:

1. Everytime you kill any wolf , snake or spider in Goru Kar Mesa, or anywhere else for that matter, is to save these three main ingredients: Large Snake Fang, (no drop) Wolf Canine, and Spider Silk.

These three items will be needed in mass quantities should you fail the combine.

The recipe calls for one Spool of Spider SIlk Thread (Tailor Trivial 50) this is made by combing 8 spider silks in a loom, If you fail you will lose all 8 spider silks so you might weanna do cheap tailoring to raise your trivial before attempting or risk losing all your spider silks.

Then for the String of teeth you will need 5 Large Snake Fangs and 4 Wolf Canines which with a sewing needle (made by smithing) can be converted to Wolf Canine bead or Snake Fang Bead both (Tailoring Trival 50) if you fail the tailoring combine you will keep your needle but lose your fangs / canines.

I suggest you get your tailoring as high as possible with out breaking the bank, Because if you combine your strin of teeth, the spool of spider silk thread and the supple wolf pelt and fail you lose it all and have to start over. That combine in the looom takes a (170) trivial to pull of, of course like someopne said earlier you could get lucky and do it at 130 but its a risk.

I did some tailoring quests with bought items only which helped raise my tailoring skill, it can be costly I think it was around 3- 4K to bring my skill up to pass this on my ranger, zek, now I am working on it on Bertoxx.

Sorry Let me update my post:

(8) Spider silks make (1) Spider SIlk Thread, you need (3) Spider Silk Threads and (1) Recluse Spider Fang to make (1) Spool of Spider Silk Thread. I was mistaken a bit, so this means you need at least 24 spider silks and arecluse fang to make your spool of thread.

if you fail on any part of the combines you lose your ingredients so this could potentially cost tons of ingredients.

This post is intended for players who reach this quest by following the Hero's Journey.

Don't panic. If you're an old school player like me, you will see the 170 trivial on a tailoring combine and grimace. It's not really as bad as it sounds. It does take some work, but it is not as time consuming, expensive, or difficult as it sounds.

The keys are (1) you don't need a 170 tailoring skill to have a reasonable chance of succeeding on the combine, and (2) if you fail, it is easy to gather another set of components. I have completed this quest with two characters, one with a 158 tailoring skill and one with a 135 tailoring skill. Both of them succeeded on the first attempt. Maybe I was lucky, but the point is that this is not as tricky as, say, the prayer shawl combines back in the old days.

As you know, tailoring can be difficult and expensive at higher levels. But you don't need a high level tailoring skill to complete this quest. Even if you fail, it's not that hard to gather the materials and try again.

Here is a walkthrough:

1. Go to Crescent Reach and complete the tradeskill quests for tailoring and smithing. This will get you a skill of 54 in both.

2. Get your tailoring skill within a reasonable distance of 170. There are a lot of ways to do this. If you've been saving the various animal skins and silks that you've gotten up to this point, you're already in good shape. Here is an old school guide for raising your tailoring skill:

http://www.eqtraders.com/articles/article_page.php?article=g111&menustr=040110000000

If you make woven mandrakes to 66, you can use the woven mandrakes to make picnic baskets (not mentioned in the guide), and you can have your tailoring at 76 before you even consider the other options. You can go all the way to 158 making Wu's armor (which requires lots of spider silks, a lot of brewing, and an enchanter to make vials of viscous mana), but you don't really need to go that far. Here is a new school guide that includes all of the animal pelt and silk drops:

http://mboards.eqtraders.com/eq/showthread.php?33385-Complete-Tradeskill-Guide-6-1-%28Serverwide-Drop-Edition%29-Rev-Apr-2009

The recipes that are important to you are the ones that use sullied, crude, and rough animal pelts, or sullied, thick, and crude silks. The cost numbers in this guide are misleading because the author assumes that you are buying the pelts and silks, and because he does not account for the resale values of the resulting product (vendors will pay a high percentage of your cost).

3. You need to make a sewing needle using smithing. This is something that is not sold by vendors. The trivial is only 31. You can buy high quality ore from a vendor in PoK, but you will need to go to Surefall to get the steel (or, for evil races, send an alt to Surefall). One trick here: You will need to buy a Smithing Chisel, but you may not be able to see it on the vendors unless you click off "show items I can use."

4. Now you are ready for the combines. Be sure to do them in the order specified by the task. You will get a "task stage completed" message when you finish each one.

5. You will need the same components that you gathered in Dorina #3: 32 spider silks, 1 recluse spider fang, 4 wolf canines, and 5 large snake fangs. The spider silks are the only thing that takes time to gather. All of this stuff is tradeable and common. You may be able to find some of it on the vendors in the Mesa if you look. But even if you farm every bit of it, there is no shortage of spiders, wolves, and snakes in the Mesa.

Again, don't panic. You can do this if you want to finish the HJ quests in the Mesa.

You need to make spider silk thread, not Spiderling silk thread. Combine 8 spider silks in a loom or sewing kit to make it.

After you ask for the 'instructions', the quest continues:

Dorina says 'It seems more complex than it really is. This note will explain it.'

You have been assigned the task 'Dorina's Personalized Gift'.

From this you have to make a Folded Silkfang Pack using Tailoring,
Folded Silkfang Pack Ingredients
1 x Backpack Pattern - Bought
1 x Spool of Spider Silk Thread - Crafted
1 x String of Teeth - Crafted
1 x Supple Wolf Pelt - Dropped
Skill: Tailoring
Trivial: 170

So you have to gather all of the dropped items again, and successfully make the pack, then return to Dorina:

You say, 'Hail, Dorina'

Dorina says 'Ah, it is you. Can you help me? I worry that my Simu has become [deluded].'

Your task 'Dorina's Personalized Gift' has been updated.

Dorina says 'You did a really great job with this! Simu will love it. Please give it to him.'

You say, 'Hail, Simu'

Simu says 'Hello! It's always nice to see a friendly face.'

Your task 'Dorina's Personalized Gift' has been updated.

Simu says 'Oh my. She really is determined isn't she? While this is a much better bag than before, but you can keep it. I really have no interest in someone who I have yet to see with my own eyes.'

You say, 'Hail, Dorina'

Your task 'Dorina's Personalized Gift' has been updated.

This leads to the next task in the quest series, Dorina's Potion...

Basically, tasks 3 and 4 in this series describe the 2 ways to get the Folded Silkfang Pack, one by collecting and doing the first quest steps, and one by Tailoring. The summoned pack used to be really useful, but now that bags can be put inside other bags, it's essentially worthless. Oh well.
