Anniversary events tend to run from mid-March to mid-April (sometimes to mid-May) each year. They are not available during the "off season".

For an overview and list of EverQuest Anniversary events, see this quest entry.

This is a shared task (1-6 players) introduced with EverQuest's 13th anniversary. It's expected to only be available during anniversary season (mid-March through mid-April).

It begins with Sam Napth, a Halfling in the Plane of Knowledge at about -215, -90, -155 (next to the Soulbinder).

You say, 'Hail, Sam Napth'

Sam Napth says 'I've been expecting you. I have great need of adventurers to help me deal with an important issue. There are a lot of tasks that need doing, I'd be grateful if you could help me out. You see, I've been trying to prove to some important people that such things are foolishness. So I've arranged some tests to prove it.'

A task window pops up offering several anniversary tasks.

You have been assigned the task 'Responsible Mining'.

Sam Napth has asked you to help solve a dispute between Harnoff and Founy in the Kaladim Mines.

Speak to Sam Napth 0/1 (Plane of Knowledge)

You say, 'Hail, Sam Napth'

Sam Napth rubs his temples with a long sigh, 'Being a purveyor of unique and exotic goods is stressful work, _____. Not a day goes by where I don't have to deal with angry [merchants] or greedy go-betweens.'

You say, 'What merchants?'

Sam Napth says 'I do business with fellow by the name of Harnoff Splitrock who acts as the foreman for a mining guild within Kaladim. He heads up a band of dwarves who do commendable work in procuring gems and ores that I, in turn, offer to my clients. The supply has suddenly stopped, however, due to a [disagreement] between Harnoff and the leader of the mining guild, Founy Jestands.'

You say, 'What disagreement?'

Sam Napth says 'I'm not one to meddle in other's personal business. As you can see, I'm more of a delegator. I offer work to those seeking a reward. Clearly you're [interested] in helping me, or we wouldn't even be speaking right now.'

You say, 'I'm interested'

Sam Napth says 'Head into the Kaladim mines and resolve whatever conflict is keeping me from getting my gems. If you're ready to go now, I can [send] you on your way.'

You say, 'Send me away'

Sam Napth says 'Excellent. I await your return.'

You enter an instanced version of North Kaladim.

Speak to Harnoff Splitrock within the Kaladim Mines 0/1 (Kaladim)

Harnoff Splitrock is above the mines in the main city (outside the rogue guild hall right outside the mine entrance).

You say, 'Hail, Harnoff Splitrock'

Harnoff Splitrock says 'Sam Napth sent you, did he? How many times do I have to tell that greedy halfling that my miners won't work without their [ale]!'

You say, 'Ale?'

Harnoff Splitrock says 'Founy Jestands, the elected leader of mining guild 628, has gotten it in his head to regulate how much we drink on the job. He has it in that thick noggin of his that we're spending too much of our profits making sure that our bellies are full of ale. Under his new policy, all miners must pay for their own ale. None of my miners will work under those conditions! Drinking's not a perk of the job, it's a necessity to ward off [bad luck] in the mines. We call it responsible mining.'

You say, 'Bad luck?'

Harnoff Splitrock says 'Horrible things of all ken can happen when you try to mine while sober. Founy's never held a mining pick in his dainty little hands. He doesn't have a clue what kind of danger he's putting the miners in! Maybe an outsider like you can convince him this policy of his is a huge mistake.'

See what Founy Jestands has to say 0/1 (Kaladim)

Task Window Says: Harnoff's miners refuse to mine without having ale provided. He hopes that as an outsider, you'll be able to convince Founy that his policy is absurd.

Founy stands nearby.

NOTE: The task locks at this step.

You say, 'Hail, Founy Jestands'

Founy Jestands lets out a laugh as you recount Harnoff's claims, 'Mining while sober invites bad luck? It's folklore, like throwing salt over your shoulder, or finding a four leaf clover! I think it's time we put this superstition to rest.' The foreman leans in close and gives you a sniff, 'You don't reek of ale, and clearly you're a neutral party. Would you be [willing] to mine while sober to see what affect it has on your luck? I can also send you [back] if you need to go.'

You say, 'I'm willing'

Founy Jestands shoves a pick into your hand with a smile, 'Great! I've jotted down a few places within these caves where you can mine. Report back to me when you've collected some ore and explored all of the locations.'

You receive a Dwarf Mining Helmet and a Dwarf Mining Pick. As you enter the mines, you'll see this unfold (unrelated to the task's completion):

Nultal Malfoot shouts 'SPLITROCK! Who let some yahoo with a pick mine in here without bein' drunk?'

Krako Stonesplitter says 'It ain't like we've been mining long, Brell knows...'

Harnoff Splitrock shouts 'It wasn't my idea! Talk to Founy!'

Krako Stonesplitter says 'My back's going to be out for weeks, I tell you...'

Founy Jestands shouts 'It's just a superstition! You should know better than to follow superstitions!'

Nultal Malfoot shouts 'Superstition or no, it ain't right to make workin' dwarves buy their own ale!'

Krako Stonesplitter says 'Cast Greater Healing all you want, it won't do a blessed thing for my back...'

Founy Jestands shouts 'It's guild business, Malfoot. We'll handle it ourselves.'

Krako Stonesplitter says 'My apron's all ripped up, too...'

Nultal Malfoot shouts 'See that you do, since yer guild business now includes repairin' the temple.'

Krako Stonesplitter shouts 'And I want a new apron.'

Nultal Malfoot shouts '...Really. An apron.'

Krako Stonesplitter says 'It was a good apron.'

Jark shouts 'Watch out, sounds like loose rocks!'
Jark shouts 'Told yer! Be more careful!'

Mine some ore for Founy 0/10 (Kaladim)

Mine next to Atheki Norkhitter 0/1 (Kaladim)

Cross the bridge where Jark is working 0/1 (Kaladim)

Work on the vein Bloarn Norkhitter is working on 0/1 (Kaladim)

Mine where Kalamin Norkhitter is working 0/1 (Kaladim)

All you need to do is equip the helmet and pick, stand near the noted NPCs, and right-click the pick until you have all the updates. Upon an update, you see:

You successfully sink your pick into the rock face and work a chunk of iron ore loose.

You'll occasionally take damage from falling rocks. Also, mobs called "a cave rat" can spawn (wave of four) and aggro, but they are easily killed. This emote signals their appearance:

You hear a squealing sound, and suddenly the cave floor is alive with vermin!

Report your experiences to Harnoff 0/1 (Kaladim)

You say, 'Hail, Harnoff Splitrock'

Harnoff Splitrock nods gravely. 'Even with yer inexperience, that's a fair lot more accidents than normal. I think we can assure tightpockets over there that ale is a good investment.

Deliver 1 Dwarf Mining Pick to Founy 0/1 (Kaladim)

Deliver 1 Dwarf Mining Helmet to Founy 0/1 (Kaladim)

Report your experiences to Founy 0/1 (Kaladim)

You say, 'Hail, Founy Jestands'

Founy Jestands says 'You are either a terrible miner or a terrible liar. I'm not truly sure which, and at this point I don't really care. If the miners are willing to go this far to prove their point, we'll keep their ale in our budget. Congratulations. Please go [back] where you came from now.'

Congratulations! You've proved that great mines require great responsibility, and fulfilling that responsibility requires copious amounts of alcohol.

You say, 'Send me back!'

For Jark's update - cross the bridge after you get Atheki's update.
When you get update for Bloarn - 4 cave rats spawn and attack you. But they were light blue to a 95 - and didnt hit very hard nor did they have alot of HP.

Equip the Pick and the Helmet.... if you didn't get one, tell Founy "Need"

Simply stand near the noted NPC's, face the wall, and click the pick

It usually takes about 2 clicks for each... and falling rocks can land on your head (I suspect the reason for the helmet)

Doesn't really say this in the write up..but...keep mining in each area until you get the update...just once won't do it, but it's not broken...if you finish with the 3 areas, and still need more of the 10 ore, try again at each area until done
