Leatherfoot Raiders  

Ok.. here is the low down and dirty on this quest. If you don't want to read a spoiler, skip over this post.

1) This quest can be done ONLY by halfling warriors. All others who try will get a 'Thank you' from the Marshal and that's it. You will likely need to make a dummy character to do this and pass things off to him. A word of caution here though... even a halfling warrior can't do it until he turns his note in (just up the next flight of stairs from the guy who gives this quest, so no big deal really). We tried this quest with several characters who ranged from Amiablely to Indifferent and could NOT do the quest EXCEPT with the warrior.

2) Save yourself a LOT of hassle... try buying as many of the skins as you can from merchants. Most will cost you less than a plat. apiece. Check the merchants in Halas and Everfrost for the Polar Bear Skin. The Grizzly Bear skin can be bought from almost any merchant in NK, EK, WC or FP. I bought mine in Freeport. The Shark Skin is a little harder to find but check the Kerran vendor on wisp island in Erud's Crossing. The stackable ones work just fine. If you have no luck there, try East FP. The Alligator Skin is likely the only one you will have to actually kill. As mentioned previous, camp the top of the tower. Check it once an hour. The Bull Alligator will get stuck up there (thank goodness). Be prepared for some fighting as all three skels will come after you. You can try Grobb if you want but I have only ever seen it for sale there once and that was a long time ago.

3) The 2nd hat rules and is well worth the effort to do the quest... but bring a lot of extra skins and do only the 1st part a 2nd time (yes you can do this). Although the 1st hat doesn't have the +5 STR, +5 AGI, etc.. that the 2nd one has, it DOES have the +10 CHA. The 1st hat can also be worn by all non-large races who are not pure casters. Thus dwarves (for example) will want to buy this item.

On Fennin Ro server...just completed this quest with the STACKABLE shark skin. Whew !!

I want this for the MR because I play on RZ. Does the first cap give MR?

I found a Polar Bear Skin on the third Polar Bear Cub I killed in Everfrost.
I found three stackable Shark Skin on a Sand Shark in Erudin.
I found a Grizzly Bear Skin on the sixth Grizzly Bear I killed in West Karana.

Haven't found the Alligator Skin after about 20 Bull Alligators and 0 Fat Alligators.

Dvinn in Crushbone will drop a Dragoon Dirk I hear. Look to buy it on auction if you're not near level 20.

Does anyone know for sure if i need the lore version of the sharkskin to do the quest?? i havie killed 8 sharks at freeport and none were lore.

Wow, they have changed this then...I bought my shark skin at the e freeport. Never noticed the ring of w commons but I have a very old version also (from about 6 months ago)

The young kodiaks in WC and EC drop grizzly skins, too, along with the adult kodiaks in West Commons.

I suppose I just got lucky because after killing 5 bull gators, i happened upon a fat gator that dropped the skin. Only spent an hour in the swamp. My question though, is to ask if the quest shark skin is the stackable kind. Let me know,I don't want to ruin the quest.)

I have two types of shark skins. One is stackable the other is not. The one that is not, may be lore (I have to check) Which one is used for this quest?

Grizly Skins are dropped by several types of large bears, the easiest way to get one is to simply kill a grizzly in the karanas(west). Shark skins are avalible in plenty of places, easiest is Eurdin bay, and some vendors may have some(also a low level shark is in Freeport East. Gator skins are VERY rare , took me about 40-50 bull gator before I got 1.
