Marshal Anrey may be found on the second floor of the bank in a nook in the southwest corner, at 100, -135, 40.

You say, 'Hail, Marshal Anrey'

Marshal Anrey says 'Stand at attention!! You don't look fit enough to toe-wrestle my grandma!! You cannot be in my squad!! Are you [petitioning] or are you a [visitor]?'

You say, 'I am a visitor.'

Marshal Anrey says 'Well, why didn't you say so?! Forgive me for hollering. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Marshal Anrey Leadladle, commander of the [Leatherfoot Raiders].'

You say, 'I am petitioning.'

Marshal Anrey says 'So you want to be a [Leatherfoot Raider]? What kind of joke is this? Look at you! You're a mess! Where are you [from]?'

You say, 'Who are the Leatherfoot Raiders?'

Marshal Anrey says 'You must be a visitor. The Leatherfoot Raiders are the elite force of the Guardians of the Vale. I command them. It is good to meet an outsider.'

You say, 'I am from Rivervale.'

Marshal Anrey says 'So you're from Rivervale?!! You must be some kind of freak. No halfling from Rivervale would look, smell and act anything like you. Well, freak, if you think you're stout enough to be a Leatherfoot Raider, you prove it!! You travel the lands and return to me a polar bear skin, a grizzly bear skin, a shark skin and an alligator skin. Then maybe, just maybe, I will let you wear the cap of a Leatherfoot Raider.'

Alligator Skin comes from alligators in Innothule Swamp.

After handing Marshal Anrey the skins:

Marshal Anrey says, 'So I see the young troll has become a young warrior. You have stepped up to the challenge of the Leatherfoot Raiders, you may wear the petitioner's skullcap, but to receive the true cap of the raiders, bring me the dirk of a fallen Neriak dragoon and the cap I have given you. Only then can I be sure that you can truly be one of the few and bold, the Leatherfoot Raiders.'

Your faction standing with Dreadguard Outer has been adjusted by -3.
You gain experience!
You receive 4 gold from Marshal Anrey.
You receive 1 platinum from Marshal Anrey.

Receive: Leatherfoot Skullcap.

Hand Marshal Anrey the Leatherfoot Skullcap and Dragoon Dirk.

Marshal Anrey says, 'Congratulations, my young deputy! Welcome to the brotherhood of the Leatherfoot Raiders. You have earned your skullcap. Wear it with pride. You are now one of the elite. Remember our motto, 'Those who risk, prevail'.'

Your faction standing with Guardians of the Vale has been adjusted by 50.
Your faction standing with Mayor Gubbin could not possibly get any better.
Your faction standing with Storm Reapers has been adjusted by 5.
Your faction standing with Merchants of Rivervale could not possibly get any better.
Your faction standing with Dreadguard Outer has been adjusted by -7.
You gain experience!
You receive 2 platinum from Marshal Anrey.

Reward: Leatherfoot Raider Skullcap

I handed the skullcap (still charged) back to Marshal Anrey and he said that he had no need for the item so I do not know of any way to recharge it.

Bull Alligator skin actully says as the following

Alligator Skin
WT: 3.5 Size: LARGE
Class: ALL
Race: ALL

This skin is NON-Stackable

It comes from a Bull alligator though for the leatherfoot raider quest, MUST COME FROM A BULL ALLIGATOR

gator skin easy way to get it
# Feb 02 2002 at 6:57 PM Rating: Default
I did this quest just for the fun of it.

The polar skin is non stackable

The grizzly skin is stackable doesnt matter where is comes from just has to be a grizzly skin. I got mine from WC.

The shark skin was real easy to get too got it from east freeport at the docks.

The Gator skin was easy to get to Heres how i did it...

My main is a lvl 42 human druid I started a lvl 1 orge warrior twinked him and buffed him with my druid ....playing 2 cpms at same time and killed only about a dozen bull gators before i got the gator skin which is stackable i got it before orge war was to lvl 4 Bull gators coned red to me at that lvl but cause was buffed and twinked was no problem killing red cons.

Probably the best way to get one to drop is with a low character like I did.

I just walked up to marshal anrey and hailed him then gave him all 4 items and just like that i had the cap......I cant use it though its for halflings only.

I havent been able to get a Dragoon dirk yet though. So i am stuck with a cap i cant use.

I spent weeks camping out for my first alligator skin before I got it and then turned in my stuff and got nothing. It turns out you have to give in a STACKABLE shark skin, not the non-stackable. So, here's how I did it.

My character is level 20 so had the teleoprt spell to get around which made it easier.

I started in Halas and went to the valley with the three igloos. POlar Bear cubs march through here in a constant stream so it took me about ten minutes to get my polar bear SKIN, whihc is whit and not stackable.

I then went to North Karana and got the grizzlies on track. It took five kills to get my skin. be careful, this one is stackable so easy to ignore thinking it is a normal skin

After that I headed to Freeport. South of the docks a rock prtrudes from the sea. Swim out to there and a shark spawns here. It cons green to me and was an easy kill. I got a skin on my third kill. remember, you need a STACKABLE skin from this one.

Then off to Innothule swamp. Bind at the entrance to save a long corpse run if you get caught by the wandering basher. You really can't do this without tracking or a huge amount of luck. I tracked about 30 alligators over about 5 hours. Then spawn in groups of about 3 or 4 and although i went about killing everything I saw, there didn't seem to be a huge difference in the spawn rate. This is the hardest skin to get but wortn the wait.

So now I have my cap...problem is I can't remember if I was aasked for the Dragoon dirk (whihc i was kindly given about ten levels ago!) I can't get Anrey to say anything more other than about the skin quest. Has anyone tried the dirk and cap recently...do you ned to get him to say any more or just give him it..I'd hate to have to track all these skins down again!

Good luck

I am confused, on the quest where it talks about it, it says " polar bear skin" then where it shows the items it says " polar bear hide" so which is it?

The hide, or whatever will have a quality like low/medium/high but the skin i think they are talking about is the stark white polar bear skin. its just that. not really a quality or anyhitng. just a skin...

Have done this quest three times, once at lvl 18, and now twice at 51, as use commons insta port to return from getting my book of souls solo in hate. I killed everthing in sight around the skeleton tower, and killed every bull alligator that spawned. After about 1 hour the first time, and 2 hours the second time (both at 51, the last time was 5 days ago in fact) got my alligator skin. This is a fun quest, and the item is one I use to raise my charisma when selling, and the insta port is something I never use, cept in special circumstances, like escaping solo run to hate. I'm a 30 HFL Druid and I got my cap about a week ago. This quest is not broken. I just followed the advice for getting the quest as found on previous messages and went about getting the items.

I got my gator skin by logging in, checking tracking, killing all Bulls and logging out. Did this 4 times and got my skin. It was about my 20th Bull. I did not camp but I have a friend that concurs with the other 30 Druid below that said he killed only Kobolds and Frogloks and the Bulls were popping pretty fast.

Hope this helps.

I just wanted to say that I talked to this Marshal Anrey and he never gave me a quest. I tried to get it out of him for 20 minutes. So I just went along with the quest and figured I'd just give him the skins. Well, that didn't work. I didn't get a skullcap or anything. All I got was a "Keep up the good work!" Maybe I did something wrong, but I think that it either doesn't work anymore or it just doesn't exist.

I am a 30 Druid and have spent a fair amount of time in the swamp looking for Bulls (with tracking). The first 2 days (real time) I would find about 5 or 6 Bulls, kill them (no skin). Then I would kill Swamp Allys and Giant Mocasins by the dozens. Only 3 or 4 more Bulls popped in 2 to 3 hours both days. On the third day I killed the initial Bulls but this time I didn't kill any Swamp Gators or Mocasins. With only three other PCs in zone (in a group near Hand) they killed only Kobolds and Frogloks and the Bulls were popping like never before: about 2 to 3 every 5 mins for over an hour. I killed 25 or 30 Bulls in about 60 mins real time. I could barely keep up as there was always at least one Bull on tracking. Unfortunately I only had an hour to play and no skin. :(

A friend (29 Druid) got his skin on the 5th Bull he killed about 2 weeks ago. So much for the low level only theory.

Looted a Leatherfoot Raider skullcap (someone killed a bunch of halflings) in Nektolus Forest, and looking at it am wondering what the big deal is...it's only ac 4 with no buffs or anything else so either it's a "used-up" cap or there are two different kinds. Any ideas?
recharge...

well i turned in the used hat (charges: none) and a shiney new dragoon dirk to see if the marchal would recharge it for me, but he just took both didnt even say a thing, so now you know and dont have to try that...

BTW i killed a millon bulls over a 4 month period with my 40 druid... then one day i had my lvl 12 twink in sro an thought what the #$%^ Ill go into the swamp and try one more bull, dropped on the first kill... so yeah trivial loot code or some crap is definately in effect on this quest... verant are lame.
Don't Give Up
# Oct 19 2001 at 2:12 PM Rating: Decent
To get the Alligator Skin:

Ok, after camping in the Innothule Swamp for 3 days i have some things to say. First don't give up. From my exp the Bull Alligators are a random spawn and it has nothing to do with place holders. I have read many posts about ppl killing various things in the zone to get them to pop, I found none of them to work. I killed just about every thing i could and it did not seem to have any effect. They seem to pop when ever they feel like it. I had to kill approx. 80 Bull Alligators before I got my skin. So while it may seem that it is unfair and may even be broken, its just a very rare drop. Don't Give up, you will get it eventually. While this quest took longer than i hoped it would, the "real" cap is worth it. Just look at the stats, for the level that you can start doing this the stats are great. Keep going, never give up.

To get the rest:

I hunted every thing to get it, the only thing i bought was the Dragoon Dirk for 25pp in EC. Killed the shark in East FP for the shark skin (got it on the second kill), hunted grizzlies in WK, and ran up to everfrost for the Polar Bear skin(which was the easiest). Those things drop all the time, plus you can kill the polar bear cubs with one hit ). Keep all the HQ Bears skins if you get one, they go for 25 to 40pp in EC. Also you may be able to sell some polar bear skins to twinked noobies. They are for a quest in Halas for exp item and gold.

At first glance the value of this is not very clear. True, the second cap has very nice stats for halflings...but most people disregard the single charge of ring of commons on it. Now most people think a single charge of anything is worthless, BUT this effect has no casting time. This means that you can cast it while getting hit! Escape from anything! There is only one other item I know of that can do this, the lizard blood potion from Cazic Thule. While it may take a little longer, this is a lot easier to get. (at lv 50 I still can't quite solo the spawn for that...but then again, I'm a rogue. I'm sure any caster class could.)

Hi,

I just wanted to say that I came to the Swamp with my halfling druid today. She is level 24, so can track. I only fought 2 bull alligators and nothing else. And there were only 2 others in the zone at that time, so I doubt they caused any spawns. So what I want to say: With tracking, it is easy to find and fight them. The skin dropped of the second one, luckily. But this was also my third day there. Not someting you really like when you play on Sullon Zek and everybody wants to kill you there.
My new problem is the Dragoon Dirk now. Dorn is always surrounded by evils and CB is taken by goods. And I dont want to wait till I can kill the dragoon in WC.
Best method of getting the bull gator skin
# Sep 04 2001 at 12:08 PM Rating: Default
- You have to kill stuff to get the bull gators to spawn.
- The swamp is a newbie zone.

Put them together and you have a method of getting your skins fast. If you are a Cleric or Druid then find a group of newbies and tell them you will buff/heal them while they kill everything that moves. Very shortly the bulls will spawn. The newbies get tons of exp, you get the skin and perhaps makes some friends along the way.

If you are a warrior or Rouge simply kill everything you see and eventually the bulls will spawn.

I found that about 1 in 10-15 will drop the skin. I had 3 skins from about 40 bulls after about an hour of hunting.

I'm not sure if it matters but we were hunting by the big stone hand, the one that has a vendor in the palm.

Hope this helps

Bear Skins
# Aug 31 2001 at 11:40 AM Rating: Default
Polar Bear skins are white and drop off bears in everfrost region near barbarian homeland.

They also drop HQ bear pelts, worth about 20pp to any tailor.

Bull Alligators seem to be plentiful in innothule swamp, I have close to 30 killed to find my skin.
Easy region to wack a few every time I go to camp the fungus for my paw of opolla :)
