Veil of Alaris Information & Guides: An Overview | Group Progression & Task List | Raid Progression | Visible Armor

This raid expedition begins with General Terasal in Windsong Sanctuary, located at -225, 1670 (northeast of the zone-in).

Pre-requisites for requesting the task:
- Completion of "Stranger in a Strange Land"
- Completion of "Getting Down to Business"
- Completion of "Making Music"
- Completion of group mission: "The Sound of Silence"
- Completion of group mission: "The Cacophony of Power"
- Completion of Beasts' Domain Raid: "King of the Beasts"
- Completion of Resplendent Temple Raid: "Two Sides of the Stone"
- Completion of Rubak Oseka Raid: "Time and Tides"
- Completion of Pillars of Alra Raid: "Unearthing Alra"
- Minimum skill level in Alaran: 81

Pre-requisites for participating in this raid:
- There are no task or language requirements.
- Your "Record of Tales" must be evolved to, at a minimum, its fourth level: "Record of Fables" (NOTE: See this raiding guide for information about VOA raid progression.)

You say, 'Hail, General Terasal'

Without pre-requisites:

General Terasal says, in Alaran, 'Hello. Be careful here, friend. This is not a place of peace and song. This is a place of power, where sound can destroy as easily as it can soothe.'

With pre-requisites:

You say, 'Hail, General Terasal'

General Terasal says, in Alaran, 'I have heard of you. I have been preparing for your arrival, in fact. I am a general in rank, though none of us have much experience at war. I imagine that you have already been told about our history, so I will not bore you with that. I, for example, am a musician by trade. A good one, if you ask me. This, along with my military training, makes me uniquely [qualified] to help you here.'

You say, 'Qualified?'

General Terasal says, in Alaran, 'Ryken's power is in sound. Mostly in the power of the spoken word, but since our arrival here his followers have taken to song and music. I have been studying them since our war with them started, and I have some idea how they think and how their power works. With Ryken assisting them, the force of Erillion are more dangerous than they should be. With your help I think I have a way to [draw Ryken out] we can weaken alis power and perhaps lift the siege on Argath.'

You say, 'How do we draw Ryken out?'

General Terasal says, in Alaran, 'I have developed an aria of sorts that should have a dramatic effect on all the residents here, probably causing most of them to flee or even dissipate. The disturbance will certainly bring Ryken's attention here and away from Argath for a while. It might also give you a chance to defeat the avatar al has left here in alis realm. That will certainly weaken al and aid us. I am willing to risk the wrath of a god if you are ready to fight ali. Do you have many [willing] to fight, or are your numbers small, but [powerful]?'

You say, 'We are willing'

General Terasal says, in Alaran, 'Good. Tell me when you are [prepared] and I shall begin the song.'

The Cacophony of Power is now available to you.

You say, 'I am prepared'

General Terasal says, in Alaran, 'I wish you luck.'

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered Windsong Sanctuary.

Triggering the Event: The Sentry Stones

Inside the instanced zone, several sentry stones ("Sounding Stone") can be found circling the outer ring of the amphitheater. As the event is triggered by coming into contact with one of these zones, you will want to be careful in setting up the raid so not to trigger the event before you're ready for it.

Echo of Ryken: The Fight & AEs

The named, "Echo of Ryken", hits for a max ~32,000 (no rampage; no flurry). It's leashed to the inner area. If pulled out of this area, it warps back to its spawn point. A leash doesn't cause a full event reset, but the Echo will wipe all aggro and regen to 100% health.

It casts several spells. "Echoing Eulogy", "Monologue of Melancholy", and "Wretched Rhetoric" are cast throughout the event:

Echoing Eulogy: Single Target, Magic (-930)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 10000 per tick
2: Decrease Attack Speed by 80%

Monologue of Melancholy: PB AE 110', Magic (-930)
1: Decrease Movement by 50%
2: Decrease Attack Speed by 50%

Wretched Rhetoric: PB AE 200', Magic (-930)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 20000 per tick
2: Increase Curse Counter by 32

"Commanding Voice" and "Dreadful Diatribe" are cast on random single targets throughout the event:

Commanding Voice: Single Target, Unresistable (-930)
1: Charm up to level 110

Dreadful Diatribe: Single Target, Magic (-10000)
1: Fear up to level 110

"Bouncing Bombast" is cast while Blind Dreamers are alive:

Bouncing Bombast: PB AE 30', Magic (-930)
1: Knockback (4) and Toss Up (4)
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 25000

In addition to all of the above, you'll have damage being done by non-aggro objects.

"a lightning ball" aura will occasionally move around the room any time the Echo of Ryken is active (note: this doesn't appear to occur while the Blind Dreamers are alive). This is a 40k damage aura:

Lightning Ball: Single Target, Magic (-930)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 40000

Also, the Sounding Stones that float around the outer ring will randomly cast "Lightning Bolt" on people:

Lightning Bolt: Unknown(44) 15', Magic (-930)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 30000

Echo of Ryken: The Bats

Shortly after the event is triggered and the named goes aggro, six bats ("a filqua toneglider") fly into the event area and go aggro. Each of these hits for a max ~20,000 and frequently casts (every 5-7 seconds) "Overwhelming Screech" on nearby players:

Overwhelming Screech: Single Target, Magic (-10000)
1: Stun (2.00 sec)

Once a bat reaches 50% health, it goes unaggro and flies to the Echo of Ryken's current location, where it will stay for the rest of the event. Even unaggro, these bats continue to AE their stun on nearby players. Once all six bats are unaggro, the named can be moved to a different location to keep it tanked outside this stun range (the bats will not follow).

NOTE: Occasionally, a bat will re-aggro and will need to be damaged to 50% again. The cause of this is unknown.

Once all bats are under control, DPS the named to 80%.

Echo of Ryken: 100% to 80%

Once the named reaches 80% (or as low as 77% as it seems to vary), it goes inactive, moving back to its spawn point and surrounding itself with several sentry stones, each casting "Lightning Shock" if you get into their proximity:

Lightning Shock: Single Target, Magic (-930)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 20000
2: Stun (3.00 sec)

At the same time the named goes inactive, 35 mobs ("a muse") spawn around the room and go aggro. They are Level 88; immune to stun, mez, root, and snare; but are susceptible to headshot and assassinate type abilities. Each hits for a max ~6,000 and buffs themselves with "Sonic Barrier":

Sonic Barrier: Self 0', Unresistable (-930)
1: Increase Damage Shield by 600

How you handle the muses is a matter of your raid makeup, strategy, and whether you need recovery time. When they spawn, a five-minute timer starts. At the end of those five minutes, the named goes active again and regens about 1% for every muse still alive. If, however, you kill ALL the muses before those five minutes are up, the event proceeds immediately upon the death of the last muse. If you want the benefit of the full five minutes, you can leave one muse alive to keep the timer going.

Once the five minutes have run out or the last of the muses is killed (whichever comes first), you'll see:

Echo of Ryken shouts 'I hunger for my muses! Rejion me and become part of my song!'

Sounding Stone says 'A resonance of sound and vibration bursts from the last muse as it dies, causing the Sounging Stones to shudder and lose their circle of protection around their master.'

Echo of Ryken says, in Alaran, 'Now we see what you can do in smaller units. My dreamers come and you must face them, all of them. Inside or out, you have no chance against them.'

NOTE: As this happens, everyone in the inner room is hit with a spell silence, and everyone in the outer ring is hit with a melee silence. With that in mind, most casters should be positioned in the outer ring before this occurs.

The inner room's silence is "Sound of Silence" and lasts for 5 ticks. The outer room's melee silence is "Thoughtless Hum" and lasts for 3 ticks. These effects are not persistent; meaning that if you stay in one area, the silence will wear off and won't re-apply itself. However, if you move from the inner room to the outer ring, the outer debuff will apply itself to you. Likewise if you move from the outer ring to the inner room. This is the case as long as the Blind Dreamers are alive. Once they are dead, the silences stop casting.

Very shortly after the Echo of Ryken's above emote, 4x "Blind Dreamer" spawn in the event area (two in the inner room; two in the outer ring -- spawn points appear to be random and they will wander around if left idle). These hit for a max ~22,000; appear to be immune to all forms of crowd control; are leashed to their respective areas (will reset aggro if leashed); and cast "Dissonance of Depletion", "Stinging Sound", and "Voice of Pain":

Dissonance of Depletion: Single Target, Magic (-930)
1: Decrease Mana by 9000 per tick

Stinging Sound: Targeted AE 30', Magic (-930)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 30000

Voice of Pain: Directional 30', Magic (-930)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 25000

NOTE: "Dissonance of Depletion" is a viral mana DOT (after about 10 seconds, goes viral on anyone within 40 range of the originally inflicted target).

Also at this time, the Echo of Ryken goes active again (same strength; same leash range; casts "Bouncing Bombast").

As long as the dreamers are alive, the Sounding Stones will remain circling around the perimeter of the inner room (these cast a 20k DD+stun if you get into their proximity). After the dreamers are dead, these Sounding Stones go back to their original path in the outer ring.

Kill the four dreamers while keeping the Echo of Ryken occupied, and then resume DPS on the Echo of Ryken.

Echo of Ryken: 80% to 55%

DPS the Echo of Ryken to 55% (+/- 3%; may be random) at which point you'll repeat the above-mentioned process (35 muses; four Blind Dreamers).

Echo of Ryken: 55% to 35%

DPS the Echo of Ryken to 35% (+/- 3%; may be random) at which point you'll repeat the above-mentioned process (35 muses; four Blind Dreamers).

Echo of Ryken: 35% to 15%

DPS the Echo of Ryken to 15% (+/- 3%; may be random) at which point you'll repeat the above-mentioned process (35 muses; four Blind Dreamers).

Echo of Ryken: 15% to Death

Now you can DPS the named to its death.

Echo of Ryken has been slain by _____!

Upon completion, a chest spawns on the stage with loot.

Event Failure & Reset

If the event is left idle for more than about 15-20 seconds, the event resets. This is the warning emote before a reset:

Echo of Ryken shouts, in Alaran, 'Why come here if you fear me so? I see little reason to remain here, I have other things to attend to.'

Once reset, all corpses and living players warp to the zone-in, all NPCs despawn, and the trigger sentry stones respawn in the outer ring:

Ryken's attention has left this place for now. You have failed to defeat it.

I found out that prerequisites for this raid is wrong.

You NEED to have Pillars raid completed before unflagged toon (book) can get in.

- Completion of Pillars of Alra Raid: "Unearthing Alra"

is part of the prerequisites already.

When engaging the event

Echo of Ryken shouts, in Alaran, 'Why come here if you fear me so? I see little reason to remain here, I have other things to attend to.'

The creatures are listed here with the exception of:

a muse

Not listed on alla. LB con to level 95, has "Spell: Sonic Barrier" as a buff. The NPC model is the floating instruments throughout normal version of Windsong.
