Veil of Alaris Information & Guides: An Overview | Group Progression & Task List | Raid Progression | Visible Armor
This is a solo task that starts with Planner Vanseth in the Sepulcher of Order (located at about 300, -120, 12 -- from the zone-in, due north into the building and in the room to the east).
Pre-requisites for requesting the task:
- No tasks
- 88 Skill Level in Alaran
You say, 'Hail, Planner Vanseth'
Planner Vanseth glances at you and smirks. 'Another fanatic? I do not understand your kind, strange one. They arrive at the gates of Erillion, begging to be taken in, begging to prostrate themselves before the Triumvirate. Are your gods so stale and unattractive to you that you need to [steal] ours?
You say, 'Steal?'
Planner Vanseth says 'Or maybe you come to drink from the pools of Alsa Thel. Careful, or you may end up as one of those thel imbibers, twisted and disfigured, consumed by a hunger for thel. They now look more like the [thelasas] to me.'
You say, 'The thelasas?'
Planner Vanseth says 'I shiver every time I look at Therin. To think the Triumvirate would ever use ali as a servant! I once ventured near the tomb, and I could hear the [chants] of the thelasas ringing throughout the stone corridors. Their language sounded unfamiliar, dark, and forbidding.'
You say, 'What are those chants?'
Planner Vanseth says 'You are curious about them too? I knew you did not look like a thel imbiber. I am not going near those halls again. If you want, perhaps you could slip inside one of their worship chambers and [listen] to a sermon. If you feel threatened, do not hesitate to defend yourself. I know I would do the same.'
You say, 'I'll listen to a sermon'
Planner Vanseth says 'You will do it? Let me know what you find. Oh, and here is an old thelasa shroud I found. Try to blend in a little. It will be safer that way.'
You receive "Shroud of the Thelasa".
You have been assigned the task 'The Power of Alsa Thel'.
Planner Vanseth has asked you to investigate the connections between the alsa thelara and the alsa thel.
Observe the sermon of the alsa thelara while in disguise 0/1 (Sepulcher of Order)
You can take the ramp around the outside of the building to the very north point in the zone (the path straight through the center is full of see-invis). From the very northern-most point, go south one room and clear it (three mobs + one roamer that comes through).
With this room clear, cast the illusion, then go south one room for this update. This opens up the next two steps.
Wipe out the unholy congregation 0/10 (Sepulcher of Order)
Task Window Says: The words of the thelasas sound evil, and the priests begin looking at you as though recognizing you are not one of them.
The undead are in the update room plus the room to the east and west of it.
Destroy the thelasas preaching the words of the Triumvirate 0/3 (Sepulcher of Order)
This is the mob standing at the altar. There is one in each of the three rooms (or, you can wait for respawn). Upon the death of the last one, you receive a "Sermon of the Thelasa" on your cursor:
Gripped tightly the hands of the stiff thelasa, you find a scroll. Its script alternates between jagged and curved, wobbling and winding about the yellowed canvas.
Show Planner Vanseth the words of the thelasa's sermon 0/1 (Sepulcher of Order)
Task Window Says: Vanseth will want to see the note you found on the body of the dead thelasa.
Planner Vanseth says 'This is incredible! The writing appears to be a form of old Alaran. I can only make out certain phrases. But this passage is clear: '...immersion in the blood purifies all. Strength is ours in abundance...' I am sure this refers to the thel. Come to think of it, I have never seen the results of a full immersion in the pools of thel. Here, take this spell scroll. How about we perform a bit of an experiment? The fanatics sitting around the pools of thel: weaken them and then use this spell to knock them into the pools. They want their alsa thel. Let us give it to them!'
You receive "Words of Repulsion".
Defeat the Transformed intiates and fanatics 0/7 (Sepulcher of Order)
Task Window Says: Vanseth believes the power of the thelasas comes from the alsa thel and wants you to test this by subjecting fanatics to the thel pools near the Triumvirate's tomb. Vanseth gave you a spell that can knock a weakened fanatic into the pools.
Note: If you set up next to Thado Penn and someone opens the door next to him, you'll get two adds. You'll want to camp somewhere else.
Just northwest of Thado Penn are two skeletons below the ramp curling up to the next floor. This can be a safe camp with no roamers.
Beat a transformed mob 50% and then click the Words. This knocks the mob into the pool. Pull it again and kill it to update this step. NOTE: Everyone in the group will get credit for doing this as long as they are on this step.
Tell Planner Vanseth the results of the experiment 0/1 (Sepulcher of Order)
Task Window Says: The thel infused the fanatics and transformed their bodies. Tell Vanseth what occurred.
You say, 'Hail, Planner Vanseth'
Planner Vanseth says 'So, they transformed immediately? Astonishing. But how much power did it grant them? There are still too many unknowns. Are you getting curious? Do you not want to know firsthand? You might not be a thel imbiber, but how would you like to be a thel bather? You are a fanatic anyway. You might as well speed up your eventual transformation. Let me know how it turns out!'
Subject yourself to each pool of the Trumvirate 0/1 (Sepulcher of Order)
Task Window Says: Vanseth wants a firsthand account of what it is like to be infused with alsa thel. If you are willing, submerge yourself into each pool and discover what happens.
Buffs come from the three main pools in center of the zone:
Transformation of Alsa Thel
Regeneration of Alsa Thel
Touch of Alsa Thel
Each buff lasts six hours. Once you get the buff, you can't click it off (you even retain it after a rez, except for the last one). NOTE: The buff from the green (west) pool has a snare effect, so you may want to do that one last.
Alsa thel surges into your fingertips.
Alsa thel flows through your veins.
Show Planner Vanseth your new form 0/1 (Sepulcher of Order)
Task Window Says: Newfound power pulses within you. Show Planner Vanseth.
You say, 'Hail, Planner Vanseth'
Planner Vanseth says 'Oh, my, do not come too close! You are quite hideous, that much is true. But do you feel changed? Can you feel the power of thel? I thought you would. But I would like you to prove it. In the next room is a creature of wing and scale. We captured it just outside of the Beast's Domain, and the spiteful little thing seems nigh impervious to most of our weapons. But can it withstand the power of alsa thel? I would like to know.'
Test your powers of alsa thel on the captured dragon hatchling 0/1 (Sepulcher of Order)
Task Window Says: Forces of Erillion have captured a dragon hatchling. Vanseth wants you to test the powers of alsa thel on this dragon.
This is a dragon located one room east of Planner Vanesth. It's of average trash mob difficulty and casts "Dragon Sputum" on its target:
Dragon Sputum: Single Target, Magic (-850)
1: Decrease HP when cast by 27500
6: Decrease Agro Multiplier by 400%
7: Increase Curse Counter by 50
captured dragon hatchling has been slain by _____!
The dragon hatchling squeals and curls into a ball. It cries out for its sire as the alsa thel sinks inside and devours it. As it twitches and gasps its last breath, the alsa thel leaves your body, and you begin to regain your old form.
As the dragon dies before you, the alsa thel drains from your body.
Speak with Planner Vanseth 0/1 (Sepulcher of Order)
Task Window Says: The alsa thel seeped inside the dragon and killed it from within. Vanseth will be pleased.
You say, 'Hail, Planner Vanseth'
Planner Vanseth says 'We thought this would be the result. You performed quite well, and you look none the worse for it. I suppose you did not remain in the pools long enough. The leaders of Erillion will be glad to know the creatures of wing and scale are weak against the alsa thel. If any of their bothersome kind return, we will know how to deal with them.'
You cannot help but feel used by Vanseth. At least now you know what it is like to be in the grips of the alsa thel.
