Veil of Alaris Information & Guides: An Overview | Group Progression & Task List | Raid Progression | Visible Armor

This task is the first in a series of three; a shared task (1-6 players) that starts with Therin the Ancient in the Sepulcher of Order (located at about 325, 5, 12 -- inside the building due north of the zone-in).

Pre-requisites for requesting the task:
- No tasks
- 88 Skill Level in Alaran

You say, 'Hail, Therin the Ancient'

Therin the Ancient's lidless eyes gleam with preternatural light. It stares beyond you, as though it were looking up from a deep crevasse. 'I saw you coming. In slumber I dreamed the world. A plane spread before me, barren, dark, and cold. Three lights, like fiery globes of moonlight, gleamed in the blackness. Then around the lights appeared eight lesser lights, like a ring of planets orbiting a triadic star. And the three lights burned more brightly, and the [lesser lights] flamed in unison.

You say, 'Lesser lights?'

Therin the Ancient says 'Faintly at first, tiny lights across the plane pricked the darkness and bled into existence. Their number swelled and became the night sky. Around the three lights these small flames gathered. They swirled around the ring of eight; they clustered about the group of three. The lights became a galaxy, and they flared so brightly that night became day, stretching to every corner of the plane and [beyond].'

You say, 'And beyond?'

Therin the Ancient says 'The Alsa Ril, the gods of three, pulled me from the darkness. I was a husk, a dead star. Now I [live] and burn with the light of the Three. Their resurgence is mine. And I watch for you, little star. I knew you would arrive and [add] your light to ours.'

You say, 'How do you live?'

Therin the Ancient says 'The sacred Thel, blood of the Alsa Ril, flows in my veins. I do not live; it lives through me. My thoughts haunt this shell like spirits hovering above the deceased. Therin is but a [memory] lingering in the mind of the Alsa Ril.'

You say, 'What memory?'

Therin the Ancient says 'I charted the stars. They wheeled above Alaris in perfect order, watching our civilizations unfold, recording our memories in signs and symbols. I wrote their names and motions on our scrolls, in honor of the Three who gave unto us, the Alsa Thelara, perfect order. I believed the Order on Alaris and in the heavens would be [unending].'

You say, 'Unending?'

Therin the Ancient says 'The stars vanished. The sky darkened. The gate opened, and Alaris ended. Through death we were born into your world. The stars were changed, but I had not the time to chart them before the Veil covered all and we [hid] below the earth.'

You say, 'You hid?'

Therin the Ancient says 'Darkness had swallowed the light of Alsa Ril. We buried them here and built this sepulcher in their honor. Relics of fertility, battle, magic, decay, splendor, tides, beasts, and oratory stood around the fallen triad. Even in death the Order would live. The [thelasas] would ensure it.'

You say, 'The thelasas?'

Therin the Ancient says 'We governed the lands of the buried lights, those fallen planets that once orbited the Alsa Ril. Tribute was paid, and worship given. Generations were to multiply into a sea of sparks and light our extinguished fires. Once again our galaxy would blaze with living light. But it did not [happen].'

You say, 'What happened?'

Therin the Ancient says 'Fires dwindled. The plane grew black and cold. Alarans forgot their past. These halls emptied, and tribute ceased. Many thelasas abandoned the Order for the lands above, entombing those remaining in this sepulcher. But I have never regretted my [loyalty]. I remain an ereth of Order.'

You say, 'Loyalty?'

Therin the Ancient says 'We starved. We sat by the dim pools and drank from the Alsa Thel, the blood of the Ril. But it held no power. The galaxy had already dispersed, sputtering off into isolated clusters around dead stars. I [died] before the altar of the Alsa Ril, and the deepest black enveloped the night sky.'

You say, 'You died?'

Therin the Ancient's eyes blaze. It motions as if to take hold of your shoulders. 'I dreamed until wakened by the Alsa Thel. The triadic star burns! Once more the planets align around the Alsa Ril. The stronger they burn, the brighter shines our star! If you [add] your light to ours, it will not be long before the light of the Alsa Ril blazes across this plane and beyond!

You say, 'Add my light?'

Therin the Ancient says 'With your faith, our gods will once more live. The Order will be reestablished. The three will become one. But first, the bond must be strengthened. Will you [bring] this vial of Alsa Thel to Lunanyn's relic?'

You say, 'I'll bring it there'

Therin the Ancient says 'Doubt not that the stars once more will brighten the sky!'

You have been assigned the task 'The Fracturing of Order'.

You receive a Small Vial of Alsa Thel.

Therin the Ancient has asked you to strength the Triumvirate's hold on the Alaran gods by delivering a vial of their blood to Lunanyn's relic. This might be an opportunity to discover a way to confront the Triumvirate.

Deliver the Alsa Thel to the Relic of Fertility 0/1 (Sepulcher East)

You'll find the Relic of Fertility in the southeastern-most part of Sepulcher East. Clear your way to the relic, after which you'll see the following unfold:

Whispers curl around your ear like strands of grassy hair. 'You step delicately. You are not allied with pain and death. Your visage is strange, like none I have seen, but I know you are not of the Alsa Ril. I watched you since you set foot in my valley. I watched you drive back the forces of Ereth Ril. And I watch as you hesitate with Alsa Thel in hand.

You have listened to and cared for my people. Now, hear me: I fear the Alsa Ril. My people have forgotten the Order. They have forgotten the disaster that brought us to your world, and the sacrifice that was made to do so. They have forgotten even me. And this is good. They worship Fertility; they live healthily and cultivate the land; they worry only of rain and sun and soil.

This is as it should be. My time has passed. We sacrificed all to bring our followers to your world, and I am content from my sentry stones to watch over them as they live and thrive, untroubled by the dark past that brought them hence. The Order would lead us back into darkness. They would revive our decaying bodies and bring us under their rule. My followers would once again know duty and submission. We would abandon the future and return to the past.

Even now, as you see, the Alsa Ril holds pieces of our bodies under watch, turning our powers and followers to their own designs. This must end. The future does not belong to the Order. Seek in this sepulcher the sentry stone of Illdaera. Al knows how we might stop the Alsa Ril. Step lightly, though. I feel the presence of the Order's thelasas.

a thelasa guardian says, in Alaran, 'Therin, that foolish stargazer, should not have trusted you!'

Kill 1 thelasa guardian 0/1 (Sepulcher East)

Task Window Says: The thelasas have sensed your intentions to double cross them.

"a thelasa guardian" spawns and attacks. It hits for a max ~18,000 and has no special abilities.

Find Illdaera's Sentry Stone 0/1 (Sepulcher West)

Task Window Says: Lunanyn said that Illdaera has been forming a plan to prevent the Triumvirate's return to absolute power. Communicate with Illdaera's spirit via the sentry stone.

Illdaera's Sentry Stone is in the upper of the two middle sentry stone rooms of Sepulcher West.

Sentry Stone of Illdaera says 'May your blade ever be wet, strange one! You have spoken to Lunanyn and killed a thelasa? Ever since you arrived in Argath, I knew your blade would cleave many of Ereth Ril. Your countenance is that of one who has taken lives beyond number -- but not without purpose. You think as I do: Some must die that others might live. Any leader of battle knows this.'

Sentry Stone of Illdaera says 'Do you think I gladly scorched my people under waves of burning steel? Ereth Ril approached, and I had to defend my city. Most of my people survived. Many did not. But does not Argath still stand? I protected the remaining inhabitants. I sent my steel creations against Ereth Ril and outsiders like you. Even though my people have forgotten me, I did not forget them. Now that they have again turned to battle, it will not be long before they pray to me and give me life. Unless Ereth Ril crushes them.'

Sentry Stone of Illdaera says 'I do not easily ask for assistance. To our lands you have brought powerful beings -- almost as powerful as we. They wield the might of the sun and sea, war and dreams. I know all too well that to invite assistance is to encourage occupation. Your gods may conquer us, but sound strategy leaves no other option. We shall bring them to this sepulcher to confront the Alsa Ril.'

Sentry Stone of Illdaera says 'But first we must break the barrier projected by the Alsa Ril. If we do not, your gods will be unable to enter the sepulcher. If we can submerge parts of our bodies and essences into the thel pools of the Alsa Ril, we can weaken the Ril and drop the barrier. Lunanyn and I are still too weak to do it alone. We must have Kolos's strength. Find alis sentry stone in the sepulcher and tell ali of the plan.'

Find Kolos's Sentry Stone 0/1 (Sepulcher East)

Task Window Says: Another Alaran god may be willing to reject the Triumvirate's rule. Seek out Kolos's sentry stone.

Back in Sepulcher East, you'll find Kolos's Sentry Stone in the lower of the two middle sentry stone rooms.

Sentry Stone of Kolos shifts toward you. A growl emanates from the stone. 'Weak you are! Scars along your face run! Kolos sees where talons and fangs ripped your flesh, and you bled in alis domain. You bled the blood of weakness! Why should Kolos listen to creature beaten by Braxi?'

Sentry Stone of Kolos says 'You are soft-furred, with soft body. You think standing on top of burial mound give you strength of Kolos? No! Kolos hate Alsa Ril -- those tricksters! -- but Kolos more hate weakness! Illdaera trust you?'

Sentry Stone of Kolos says 'If Alsa Ril gain power, Kolos must again serve them. Weak they must be to steal our power for themselves! But Kolos will not willingly join with the weak. Illdaera not weak, but you are.'

Sentry Stone of Kolos says 'Prove Kolos wrong. Kill these followers. The weak will die, the strong will live -- as it should be. Are you [prepared]?'

Kill 1 challenger of Kolos 0/1 (Sepulcher East)

Task Window Says: Kolos will not agree to the plan if there is any weakness within you. Prove to Kolos that you have the strength necessary to follow through.

You say, 'We are prepared'

Sentry Stone of Kolos says, in Alaran, 'Prove to Kolos your strength!'

a trap warden says 'Only the strongest will survive!'

"a trap warden" spawns and attacks. It hits for a max ~18,500 and casts "Trapper's Noose":

Trapper's Noose: Single Target, Magic (-850)
1: Increase Incoming Spell Damage by 100%
2: Limit: Spell (Rage Thrash allowed)
4: Root
5: Decrease HP when cast by 18500
6: Increase Curse Counter by 45

Kill 2 challengers of Kolos 0/1 (Sepulcher East)

When ready again, say "prepared" to spawn "a trap warden" and "a vicious hunter" which aggro. They each hit for a max ~18,500. The warden casts "Trapper's Noose" while the hunter casts "Rage Thrash":

Rage Thrash: Single Target, Magic (-850)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 10000
2: Decrease Endurance by 300
3: Decrease Mana by 1000

Kill 3 challengers of Kolos 0/1 (Sepulcher East)

When ready again, say "prepared" to spawn "a trap warden", "a vicious hunter", and "a clan rejuvenator" which all aggro. They each hit for a max ~18,500. The warden casts "Trapper's Noose"; the hunter casts "Rage Thrash"; and the rejuvenator casts "Life Absorption" on its two allies:

Life Absorption: Single Target, Unresistable (-850)
1: Lifetap from Weapon Damage

Sentry Stone of Kolos says 'You are strong! Kolos surprised!'

Sentry Stone of Kolos says 'Tell Illdaera Kolos will join with you.'

Tell Illdaera of Kolos's decision 0/1 (Sepulcher West)

Task Window Says: Kolos has agreed to follow the plan. Tell Illdaera of this decision.

Head back to the Sentry Stone of Illdaera. As you approach, the Embodiment of Ryken appears.

Speak with the Embodiment of Ryken 0/1 (Sepulcher West)

Task Window Says: Ryken, the Triumvirate's closest confidant, has learned of this treachery.

You say, 'Hail, Embodiment of Ryken'

Embodiment of Ryken says 'A fletcher makes an arrow. A soldier knocks the arrow against alis bow. A troopwielder commands the soldier to fire. A blacksmith casts the iron shackles. A carnifex binds the lawbreaker. An official writes the laws. Shall a fletcher fight a war? Shall a blacksmith punish criminals?'

Embodiment of Ryken says 'We must have order. The parts must work as a whole. Can you imagine a city of blacksmiths, or a fortress of fletchers? But you would set aside a domain of beasts or a fortress of warriors?'

Embodiment of Ryken says 'The Order will be established. We who have died will live again, as the whole we once were. Our followers will multiply. Our kingdom will ascend to such greatness that it will never be challenged again from beyond our plane of existence. And you would stop this? You, who have failed to destroy us time and again? It shall not happen.'

It attacks.

Kill 1 Embodiment of Ryken 0/1 (Sepulcher West)

Task Window Says: Ryken will not allow this plan to proceed.

The Embodiment of Ryken hits for a max ~21,000 and casts "Mind Shatter":

Mind Shatter: Single Target, Magic (-850)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 8000 per tick
2: Unknown #343 (100/85/0)
3: Set Healing Effectiveness to 45%

Speak with the Sentry Stone of Illdaera 0/1 (Sepulcher West)

Task Window Says: You surely have not seen the last of Ryken. Tell Illdaera that Kolos agrees to the plan, and that you are ready to begin the preparations to defeat the Triumvirate.

You say, 'Hail, Sentry Stone of Illdaera'

Sentry Stone of Illdaera says 'Kolos will join us? Then preparations must begin. We must hurry before Ryken alerts Galvos, Ragan, and Beloth. I will tell you what you must do to construct bodies for Lunanyn, Kolos, and me.'

You have spoken to the Alaran gods disloyal to the Triumvirate and convinced them to follow Illdaera's plan. Now you must discover the next step Illdaera wishes to take.

My group was working its way to the Relic of Fertility. There were a couple see-invis in the room leading to it, so we cleared a little bit but then I poked my invisible nose around the corner to see what the Relic looked like. Things then happened very fast.

I saw the first emote (whispers curl) and the task updated. Then the red-con mob next to the Relic, a thelasa of fertility, spotted me and broke my invis, and another 3-4 mobs jumped in. I was quickly dead and my group began trying to control the mess. The later emotes (you have listened etc.) never showed up, but sixty seconds after the first emote I saw a thelasa guardian call out about Therin, the foolish stargazer. About 20 seconds after that, the guardian cast a spell (Bulwark of the Thelasa) and then I saw no more sign of it. Since I was dead I couldn't see what it did, but it was gone by the time I got rezzed and we were ready to try again.

On our second try we went more slowly, clearing a path to the Relic. Those mobs respawn FAST: about 13.5 minutes. But once we cleared around the Relic itself and looked around, there seemed to be no way to get the guardian to reappear. The small vial of alsa thel that I'd been given at the start was gone, and no amount of hailing or exploring did anything. The task was basically busted at that point.

We figure next time we try it, we'll clear our way there before starting the task, then send the bard to run back, get the quest, and return with the vial, burning mana like mad to fade from all the mobs in between. (Hey, he volunteered for it! Bards are crazy, man!)

Task does not appear to have a lock point. Can still add players right before the final hail to complete.

If you fail the Embodiment of Ryken steps, you must say "try again" to Therin the Ancient, not the sentry stone.

Take note that "the Emobodiment of Ryken" appears when you enter the Sentry of Illaera's room and despawns after 2 or 3 mins and you have to redo the entire shared quest. Was a real bummer.

Actually you can go back to Therin and hail it; it'll prompt you to say "try again" which will reset the task to the previous step allowing you to spawn the Embodiment again.
